JP-EN translation commission
Hi everyone! It's been a while since I last posted. I have decided to take translation commissions. If you wanna know what your fave doujinshi is about and need a translation, you can private message me here on Tumblr and we can talk about it (type of material, price and so on), or you can pick up one of the doujinshi in my library for translation. Maybe I already have that rare doujinshi you've been searched for so long... well, it may happen if you are a shinkane/kouaka fan like me, almost all the doujinshi in my collection are shinkane/kouaka.
I can translate also pieces from official material (books, art books) but in this case we will talk about how/if sharing this material.
If you have any question, feel free to ask in private.

PP Novels Resources (for my fellow deranged fans)
As a deranged PP fan, who was starving for dopamine I discovered some novel sources for the characters we all love! All novels/summary is in Russian (can be easily translated to English through Google Translation of the website. Use a VPN if the sites do not load)
If ya'll love the OG cast (Season 1), this is for you! I'm merely linking to the websites for your reading pleasure. I will try to link the ones that are complete, more under the cut.
*All due thanks to the dedicated translators who keep the fandom going* Psycho-Pass Zero
(Tumblr: Novel Translation *pending but I recommend reading this before the radio drama for plot coherence*) (Live Journal: Radio Drama Translation *complete*)
Content warning: Plastination case + Makishima is enough warning Timeline: Prequel to the Psycho-Pass S1 Kogami and Sasayama's bromance/outlines the gruesome murders in the Specimen case/follows the story of Touma Kozaburo and his obsession with Touko. Baby Kogami is so precious. Mitsuru Sasayama is the man, the legend. *sobs* Masaoka's whiskey persists + Ginoza the worrier.
Psycho-Pass Asylum: About A Girl (Live Journal: Detailed Summary *complete*) (Suggested Supplement: Yayoi/Shion Tidbits from PP Novel + Aoyanagi and Kozuki disaster)
Content warning: brutality against women, !pregnancy, !cultism, !infanticide. I'm not kidding when I mean it's brutal. Timeline: Post S1 with some flashbacks. Yayoi and Shion's relationship is the main focus. They investigate a case where pregnant minors are being sacrificed by a cult. Entirely from Yayoi's perspective, has many details about her past and how she and Shion feel about Division 1. I would encourage you to read this if you want a feminine/female perspective of the PP verse. Underlying themes of creativity, sex, romance, and hope + vital issues with the Sybil System. I added the supplement because it covers a bit more about Yayoi and Shion + explores the canon romantic relationships, I believe it is a good study of how PP handles canon relationships.
Psycho-Pass Asylum: Restaurant de Campagne Kagari Shuusei
(Live Journal: Detailed Summary *complete*)
Content warning: None, really. This one is quite wholesome as PP can be except for Sybil's shenanigans. Timeline: Prequel to S1 (Flashback) Kagari and Div 1 + 2 investigate a series of gastronomic malfunctions in Sybil's food preparation system caused by a criminal called 'Harlequin'. It involves a "natural food" supply company called Gusto and a restaurant owner. The novel explores Kagari's interest in cuisines and the impact of food in the PP world. Kagari's perspective is quite refreshing and light, compared to the complexity in other novels.
Psycho-Pass Asylum: Separation Ginoza Nobuchika (Live Journal: Detailed Summary *complete*)
Content warning: animal!cruelty, child!abuse, dogs. This one is a tearjerker. Timeline: Prequel to S1 + post S1 Inspector Ginoza, Kogami, and Sasayama investigate a case of rehabilitated animals/pets that are increasing the stress levels of Okutama, a remote place in the mountains. These pets were reintroduced and have gone feral. A doctor named Miyake was responsible for the reintroduction. Ginoza's calm yet poetic and wistful perspective is quite grounding. There's a sense of loss through this story, the theme of separation, and dogs being man's best friends. Any puns that made you think of Kogami are valid.
Psycho-Pass Asylum: Mungungwha Choe-Gu-Sung
(Live Journal: Detailed Summary *partial translation*)
Content warning: !torture, !mutilation, !castration, graphic, mentions of NK-orea. It's quite disturbing and angsty. MAJOR tearjerker. Timeline: Pre-S1 + follows the plot of S1. This follows the story of Choe-Gu Sung, Makishma's accomplice, and his entry and activities in Japan. Explores family life with his younger sister Suseon and his friend Guynthae. It covers a major portion of his backstory in N-K and his eventual friendship with Makishima. If you felt nothing for this guy in S1, believe me, you will be sobbing through this one. He deserved a better ending ftw.
That's all. If I find anything else, I'll add it in another post. Enjoy delving into the world of Psycho-Pass in-depth, and don't forget the words said by a certain Enforcer:
When it's all over, you can cry as much as you like.

[Psycho-Pass Providence spoilers]
Akane’s letter to Kogami
A Japanese fan who has already seen the movie was kind enough to write down the content of Akane’s letter as well as possible. I tried to translate it. Please forgive any errors, I’m still learning the language.
---
“Something has been troubling me for a long time: it’s the unshakable concept of the crime coefficient.*
There is no room for debate in today’s society under the Sibyl System. In a state governed by the rule of law, it should be possible to discuss the nature of guilt.
What is a crime? Is the punishment appropriate?
One must understand the evil of others and question one's own idea of justice.
This case made me realize how important it is to have discussions so that people can live as human beings. In my opinion, stopping this debate is not the right way to achieve justice in the future.
People need the law, it’s essential. Therefore, I will seek justice in a way that only I can.
It was a pleasure to meet you, Kougami-san.
It’s thanks to you that I was able to find the answer.”
- Akane Tsunemori
---
Notes: I think it’s correct that Sibyl wants to implement a bill that would eliminate the Ministry of Justice in PPP. Akane shot chief Kasei during a public event. People saw and they started to discuss. As a result, the bill was abandoned because they felt it was too early to abolish the law. It seems as if Kogami himself provoked Akane into doing what she did because he told her that “there is no way to prevent the law from disappearing.” She proved him wrong! While reading the letter, Kogami seems to call her “bakayarou!” which can be translated as “bloody idiot (and hypocrite)”. Akane’s last sentence should probably clarify that she came up with the idea of shooting Kasei and throwing away her life because of him/his way of doing things.
*Edit: I first thought that she was talking about criminally asymptomatic people here but I guess she’s troubled by the fact that there are Psycho-Passes at all in Sibyl’s society.

absolutely agree with you re: kogami's feelings LMAO i loved the hc of him being all angsty about his feelings for her but i'm starting to warm up to the reality that he is just a dumbass. he seeks her approval and validation and probably brushes it off as respect (which it might very well be) but i agree with frederica when she said in the novel that sometimes we know ourselves the least (re: kogami and being the king of letting emotions rule his head)
Exactly lol, genius dumbass man 😌

Tumblr media
The last four months of your pregnancy were spent peaceful on the island, occasionally Tsireya or Neteyam would stop by to bring you new clothes, food and also things for your baby.
Whenever Neteyam visited though, you couldn't help but feel guilty from what happened that night.
Tumblr media
"Teyam, are you sure your ok?" You asked softly tracing the scar along his chest. Sighing, Neteyam nodded "I am fine y/n, do not worry about me."
It wasn't a subject Neteyam liked to bring up but you were worried, the only thing he told you was that after Tsireya took you, Aonung tackled him to the ground slashing him with his dagger.
You were happy he was alive yes but Neteyam looked so drained, what more had Aonung really done to him?..
The day continued on with Neteyam weaving some gifts for your baby, while you set up an area of the cave for the child.
When it came time for him to leave, you bid your goodbyes watching as he took off on his ikran back to awa'atlu.
Hopefully this would be enough for your child, you thought as you layed down on the cot Lo'ak made you, giving yourself the shot so you could breath again, you slowly began to drift off into a deep sleep.
Tumblr media
Pain, that's all you felt when your eyes fluttered open, scorching pain from the top of your stomach down to between your legs. Your contractions had started.
Tears streamed down your face as you had an overwhelming sense to push, with your vision clouded by your tears you failed to notice the familiar figure of Neytiri rushing over towards you.
"Mawey ma'ite mawey.." her voice soothing as she carefully moved you onto your back,"I-it hurts!" You hiccuped. Neytiri frowned, her left hand moving to wipe your tears away.
The woman knew all to well the experience of childbirth, having 3 children herself "Breath y/n" she spoke softly.
You did your best to follow her instructions, breath in, breath out, push, and repeat. A bloodcurdling scream left your lips as another contraction happened.
Neytiri did her best to help you through the process while also trying to keep you conscious, It was only when you wanted to give up that a tiny cry sounded throughout the cave, followed by one more.
A smile crept up your lips as you looked at your children, cradled in the woman's arms. "It's twins!" she smiled, her tail swishing behind her. Moving closer she set both babies now wrapped in a cloth in each of your arms.
They were so beautiful, one twin a boy and one a girl. The boy looked a lot like Aonung whereas the girl resembled more of you, as much as you hated Aonung, you were grateful he gave you two precious little babies.
"What will you name them child?" Neytiri asked, her gaze drifting from you to the little bundles in your arms.
Thinking for a moment you spoke "How about Ira'na and Kai'su?" Kai'su was a name Neteyam mentioned to you, it meant ‘strong and brave’. Ira'na was one Kiri thought of, the name means 'light of my life' but it also has another variant 'Ira'nadi' which means 'light that guides my life.'
Neytiri nodded "Beautiful names Ma'Ite, even with Aonung not around, I know you will be a great sa'nok. We will also help in anyway we can"
Tumblr media
The hours pass on with Neytiri helping you with the twins, as much as you wanted your friends to come and see the newborns, you knew it would be risky and couldn't risk Aonung hurting anyone again.
Everything was just so messed up, if you would have known Aonung was a lying, no good, two-face, cheating ass son of a bitch, you would have never even touched the man. Sorry, boy.
Once it became close to eclipse, you give Neytiri the ok to call Jake and the rest through the coms, by now everyone should be turning in for the night and Aonung is probably too busy with that whore to notice anything.
Carefully, the sullys along with Tsireya and Rotxo snuck out the village, then started making their way to the island, unfortunately a certain someone was out during that time and saw them.
The swim was long on ilu, Tsireya should know. By ikran it would've taken less time but also catch the attention of the scouts who patrolled the village.
Eventually they made it, disconnecting from the ilu then headed towards the cave you were staying in. Upon reaching it, everyone gasped, sure they knew you were having a baby but two babies?? It's never been heard of.
Jake knew though, how could he not? He grew up on earth where twins, triplets, and even quadruplets are possible to have. But no one expected a human and a na'vi to have twin babies.
Nevertheless, they celebrated the arrival of your babies, promising that with the next visit they'd bring gifts for them and of course for you as well.
Lo'ak and spider had Kai'su, claiming they'd be the favorite uncles whereas Kiri and Tsireya had little Ira'na. Rotxo and Neteyam stayed with you, mainly because the babies were being hogged by their siblings and also because they missed you.
Neytiri and Jake managed to cook up some egg stuffed mushroom with the resources on the island since they couldn't bring anything unfortunately. It was nice and soft and oh so delicious, apparently it was also Neteyam's favorite growing up.
Tumblr media
Sitting back against the cave wall near the entrance, you watched as everyone was having fun when a voice cleared from beside you "What's wrong y/n? you do not seem happy" Neteyam frowned sitting down next to you.
"I am fine Teyam" you spoke, forcing a smile onto your face. Neteyam tsked while leaning closer "Do not lie to me y/n, what is wrong?"
Sighing you shrugged "I just, is it wrong that I feel bad about keeping the children away fr-" "Do not feel bad for that asshole y/n, he made his choice. Think of your children, do you want that kind of role model around them?"
Before you could speak, a chuckle came from the bushes to the side of you both."That's a bit hurtful Neteyam, I am a great role model."
Aonung emerged from the darkness with Meyäi by his side, she looked into the cave, her face having a look of disgust as she set her sights on your babies.
A growl rumbled through Aonung once he saw them "So, this is where you have been hiding from me. And now you plan to keep my own children away from me?","You don't even want them Aonung, leave y/n and her children alone" Neteyam hissed standing up.
You stood up but instead of staying behind him you walked up to Aonung,"They are my children, not yours, mine. And yes I do plan to keep them away from you!"
Aonung scoffed "I do not claim those demon blooded children, the only thing they are good for is serving me and Meyäi"
Meyäi giggled "Oh like what the humans call servents, can we use lashes on them when they disobey??"
That was the last straw, you jumped on Meyäi tackling her to the ground "No one is going to hurt my children!" Next thing Meyäi knew, she had a broken nose, a busted lip, and a black eye.
Neteyam was surpised, a small human like you managing to take down a na'vi. Aonung was furious though, he tore you off Meyäi, tossing you into the wall and helped her up.
Neteyam rushed to your side, picking you up then headed into the cave "We need to go, Now. Aonung and Meyä are here!"
Everyone hurried frantically to try and get up, Rotxo and Tsireya held onto the babies, making their way to the ilu's when Aonung lunged at them.
"Give me the little brats!" he commanded at his siblings who shook their heads,"These are innocent children brother, your children, if you would only just accept them."
Rotxo nodded "Our sister is right Aonung, these children are gifts from eywa. Please do not do this to them."
Aonung laughed "You think I will accept these half breeds? Me and Meyäi would make far more beautiful children, ones without demon blood."
That just make your blood boil "They are beautiful!, it does not matter if they have demon blood or not. Now kids with Meyäi would sure be a jump scare."
Neteyam was quick to move out the way before Meyäi could lunge at you, her fangs showing off as she hissed. While Aonung and Meyäi were distracted with you, Tsireya and Rotxo along with everyone else tried to make their getaway but not before getting surrounded in the water by a few guards.
Aonung stepped closer, ignoring Neteyam's warning hiss "I will always find you hì'i tawtute, no matter where you go, your children will be coming with me now." As he was speaking, Meyäi snuck away, rummaging quietly through your belongings till she found the needle you used to breath Pandoran air. Slipping it into a pouch tied to her loincloth, she snuck back to her original spot by Aonung.
With a smile, she and Aonung turned around, walking back to where Aonung's tsurak was in the water before getting on and making their way back towards the village along with your children and friends.
You broke down immediately, sobbing into Neteyam's chest. He wanted nothing more than to take your pain away, give it to himself instead so you could be happy once more.
Walking to a nearby tree, he sat down leaning back against it so he could properly hold you. His large arms wrapped around your smaller frame as he whispered in your ear "Shh, it's ok y/n. We'll get them back, I promise."
Sniffling you leaned back slightly with his hold on you loosening "How Teyam? Him and that slut won't just give me back my children."
Neteyam sighed, placing his left hand on your cheek "We'll find a way, don't worry. I'm sure Tsireya and Rotxo are trying to reason with him as we speak."
You nodded and layed your head back against his chest "They don't deserve this.. only just been born a few hours ago.."
He gently rubbed your back, while his tail wrapped around your thigh as a way of comforting you. "None of you deserve this."
Tumblr media
"For the last time sister, give me the child!" Aonung snarled at Tsireya. He had already managed to get the girl from Rotxo who Meyäi was currently holding.
Tsireya hissed, keeping little Kai'su close to her "You will not take him!" With the snap of his fingers, Aonung had two warriors hold Tsireya while he walked up, yanking the child from her arms.
His face softened for a second, seeing this small miniature version of him. But grimaced once he remembered they have demon blood running through them.
Aonung had the warriors take Tsireya to a small hut, located at the edge of the village. The sullys and Rotxo were currently tied up inside it with two guards stationed outside.
Meyäi walked up to him smiling "Ma'nung, look at what else we got" with one hand she opened the pouch tied to her loincloth, and pulled out the needle making Aonung's eyes widen."That's the needle y/n uses to breath our air isn't it?"
Meyäi nodded "Of course it is, without it she'll die and we can finally be together."

HI! :D first of all forgive my bad english, i'm italian and i don't express myself very well in other languages... i wanted to ask you for some information that i still don't understand... the stories you translated, in particular Psycho-Pass the novels and Audio Dramas are official and canon content? Were they written and released by the creators of the original anime or are they just stories written by fans (fanfictions)? I'm asking because I would like to understand if the famous last phone call between Kogami and Akane can be considered as "really" happened in the official story of the Anime.... thank you very much ^^ <3
Ciao!

Happy Birthday Gino (21/11)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since I came across some more translations of Asylum and was curious about Ginoza's viewpoint in Separation, I decided to share some snippets I found. These will be linked at the end, and are sourced from Chinese translations on Lofter.
The OP has specified not to repost so I will not translate the entire material into English, only a few paragraphs I find interesting. As usual, I don't know a lick of Chinese or Japanese. The translation was done through DeepL/Google Translate. It takes place in the year 2109 when Gino is still an Inspector. That being said…
Tumblr media
*All due thanks to the translators who took the time to keep the Psycho-Pass fandom alive. We love you!*
Tumblr media
The children, surprised by the sight of a live animal came over to the table and Dime like a good-natured grandfather, comically stood up on two feet. Ginoza untied the leash from the table and agreed to let Dime play with the children at the dog park. After all, Dime was a certified therapy dog, and the parents did not mind Dime as a playmate. Ginoza left his seat and stood up, gazing at Dime's frolicking from afar. Ginoza approved of the scene from the bottom of his heart.
Working in the Public Security Bureau, if for some time he forgot the matter of eliminating criminals... for most people the Sibyl System provided them with a good living environment. As of now, the Sibyl System is indeed the closest thing to a utopia. By assigning jobs according to their aptitudes any civilian can make use of their strengths and become a capable person contributing to society.
In addition, the Sibyl System helped people find the most suitable partner by judging their romantic capabilities.
The children playing with Dime were still young, and their parents were only a few years older than Ginoza. They were all arranged to meet by the Sibyl System when they were students or in the workplace. They would form a couple, marry, and start a family.
Yet, Ginoza had not found a romantic partner. Twenty-plus years, he remained single. Would he remain so for the rest of his life?
That's okay. I have gotten used to living alone for so many years.
Ginoza felt uncomfortable when he thought of spending his life with a specific person in matrimony. Due to his job as an Inspector, the risk of his Hue becoming cloudy was higher than any civilian.
Of course, I am taking proper mental care but it is difficult to predict how my life will suddenly change. If I become a latent criminal, it will be heartbreaking for my beloved partner and my close friends.
Any children born from our union will be treated disdainfully. If I become like that, I can never forgive myself.
That's why it's a preventive measure to not desire a family in the first place. As long as I can do my duty to this society, it will be enough.
The children playing happily with Dime and their families live a free and carefree life — I will be the guardian who shields those civilians. I will be like the titan Atlas in Greek mythology, supporting the sky with his own body. If there's anything else, I wish I could stop the bullying of the children of latent criminals, as I was bullied in the past. I wish they could be treated better by the Sibyl System and receive the approval in the society...
No way. That's a bad thought.
It is like criticizing or finding fault in a perfect society. Society is better now. In the past, before Sibyl, humans did not treat everyone equally. In this era, no matter how much the children of latent criminals are scorned, if they strive for excellence, they all have a fair chance to climb to the centre of the world.
Then the only thing I have to do is to protect this world with all my might. I cannot fail to reach this goal.
Tumblr media
Source/Credit: 官方小说 PSYCHO-PASS ASYLUM 宜野座伸元 别离篇 第二章 [by Flamenco Shoujo on Lofter] Please visit the original translator and read the rest of the work over there. I shall only share brief snippets of the scenes I like at best. Thank you for reading ❤️ This is my gift to the Ginoza fans. I wanted to know more about his perspective since we normally see Gino from Kogami/Akane's eyes, it is refreshing to see how he views the world.
*Brb I’m not done crying over Gino’s intrusive thoughts, plus him and Dime playing with the children. He’d be such a good father and husband, Gino fans pls fix this poor man’s heart 😭 he’s too precious.

Otomedia Autumn 2022 - Mob Psycho 100 III Interviews [Translation]
Tumblr media
Otomedia Autumn 2022 contains three interviews with Mob Psycho 100 staff - one with Character Designer Kameda Yoshimichi, one with the voice actors of Mob and Reigen (Itou Setsuo & Sakurai Takahiro), and one with the new director Hasui Takahiro. The interviews contain information regarding season 3 and what we should look forward to seeing.
Translation below!
Short interview with Character Designer Kameda Yoshimichi
Tumblr media
Q: The key visual for season 3 is quite drastically different to those of seasons past, isn’t it.
“The order I received was, ‘just Mob-kun this time around.’ I wanted to make it a piece filled with the vibe of season 3’s climax… as a result there’s meaning to be found throughout it (laughs).”
The focus point of the piece is that flipping it 180 tells another story.
Plenty for people who have already read the manga to read into.
Q: How do you feel the response to season 3 will be?
“It’s a serious story, I feel like the atmosphere is a little different to what we’ve seen up to this point. We’ll be revisiting some of the deeper themes touched upon earlier, so I implore those of you new to the world of Mob Psycho 100 to watch seasons 1 and 2 before getting into this season! Season 3 is less about ‘fighting with the enemy’, and more about the relationships between characters, ie. ‘How have the people around me changed and how will they continue to?’ I think it’s the kind of story that will impact just about anyone.”
“A review thus far of Shishou and Deshi” Itou Setsuo (Mob) x Sakurai Takahiro (Reigen)
Q: After 3.5 years, Mob Psycho 100 is back! Please tell us how you felt when you knew the third season was greenlit.
Itou; “For me it felt like ‘thank you for waiting!’, even though I was waiting too (laughs)”
Returning for season 3 felt completely natural to both Itou and Sakurai. It didn’t feel like years had passed, and since there was no huge change in who was primarily working on the show, the atmosphere was as if they had just recorded last week.
Q: Did you feel any change when you were recording your lines?
A big change for season 3 was that the cast were not able to record together thanks to COVID. Since the cast were unable to play off one another’s performances in a natural way, Sakurai worried about what this would do to the quality of the voicework.
Q: In season 3, Serizawa is added to the ‘Spirits & Such’ team.
Sakurai considers that Serizawa has become a bit of a mascot for Spirits & Such, alongside Mob. He then states they’re all kind of mascots.
He states how difficult a thing it is for someone to now be the boss of two people instead of one, and though you might have to squint, you can definitely see this as a visible culmination of Reigen’s growth. “He’s changed a bit. It’s difficult for me to put into words.”
Regarding Serizawa, Mob gets to experience exorcism ‘together’ thanks to him in season 3. In an upcoming scene where the two of them do perform an exorcism together, it’s a nice way to give tangible evidence that Mob’s group of allies has grown.
Itou describes season 2’s Serizawa as having “a low centre of gravity”, and follows this up by saying season 3’s Serizawa has lightened up.
With Serizawa’s arrival, Spirit’s & Such is now home to the strongest espers in the story (Mob and Serizawa given as the visual example).
Q: Please tell us more about the changes that the characters go through in season 3.
The changes the characters go through is said to be subtle, and this is where the story sources drama from this time around. On a total rewatch it’ll be clearer.
Q: Tell us what we should look forward to seeing in season 3 (mid-way only).
Season 3 will begin with a ‘slice of life’ vibe for Mob before delving into something deeper. Season 3’s overall atmosphere is described as “incredibly intense”.
A particular back and forth that Mob and Dimple have in season 3 is Sakurai’s favourite part of the series. “ONE-sensei really knows how to pierce you.”
Hasui Takahiro’s Directorial Recipe
Q: You’re the director now for season 3, how was this for you in practice?
More difficult than he thought it would be - lots of back and forths with Tachikawa Yuzuru.
One idea that Tachikawa came up with regards Serizawa. “At the start of the season there are some episodes that feature Serizawa and some action scenes that the manga isn’t explicit in showing us, so Tachikawa-san came up with the idea that Serizawa should utilise a particular item from the OVA in these scenes. This became a key item, and is Serizawa’s new ‘weapon’.”
Q: Tell us what we should look forward to seeing in episode 1.
“As it’s been a while since season 2, episode 1 of the new season acts as a kind of refresher/reintroduction to the world of Mob Psycho 100. [...] As in, an evil spirit appears, it gets exorcised, Reigen gets in a scuffle, then there’s the appeal of the crazy strong characters (laughs). Tachikawa-san is very good at understanding these crazy strong characters and making them even stronger.”
Q: Please tell us something you were picky about with season 3.
Seasons 1 & 2 are very important for season 3, so callbacks were necessary. You see it with the OP, and you’ll see it with the ED which is very reminiscent of season 1’s ED.
“Up until now huge-scale action scenes have been a selling point of the show, but season 3’s focus is on ‘Kageyama Shigeo’. Season 3 progresses with Mob as a person.”
“As the season progresses you’ll see that Mob hasn’t decided what path exactly he wants to take. How will he choose his path, and finally what perspective will he have? It’s the kind of story that’ll show you this.”
(A huge thank you to @noloryno for being so quick with the magazine scans <3)

The Psycho-Pass musings that are infiltrating my thoughts today:
I am steadfast in my refusal to lose hope in Kogami and Akane ending up together - even though I think it's much more likely for one of them to die *cough* AKANE *cough* than end up with a HEA bc of the dystopian hell they inhabit. (Come at me, the realist in me loves a good debate. 😜)
Think I found more proof to support the never-ending Shinkane/Koaka argument, but need someone from the Japanese side of the Fandom to help me out here: in one of the final scenes of the first movie, Kogami calls Akane 'a remarkable woman' - how does this translate in its original language? Bc honestly, he could have picked SO. MANY. WORDS. other than 'woman' there if his view of her hadn't changed by that time (ie: girl, kid, individual, detective, human, etc).
I've logged this little tidbit away to utilize in my next fanfic (sequel to the current one based on Providence), but did anyone else find it strange in S3 Episode 8 that Homura basically told Kei that he needed to get out of that abandoned building without being seen by the then occupied Ko and Gino? Why would that be important to him if they had no idea who he was at the time? Maybe we're missing something that will be addressed with S4...? Like was it MoFA who had info on him already or something more specific to Kogami or the Pathfinders??? (Pwease halp! The possibilities are driving me crazy!)
Can't wait to read your input, fellow Psychos! 😘
((Posted with my current fave Shinkane pic bc THIS SHIP WILL NEVER SINK. k, thanks, byeeeee!))

Psycho-Pass Providence Review (with major spoilers!!! Don’t read if you don’t want spoilers!!)
As promised, I went to see Psycho-Pass Providence at Nijo Toho Cinemas in Kyoto. They had a little merch at the theater. They also gave everyone a booklet with artwork that I’ll include at the end of this review. If you want to wait until you can see the movie, please stop reading now because I will be basically telling everything that happened, good and bad. I was glad to see more people coming to watch the movie because when I bought the tickets most seats were available! We are a small fandom, but we are loyal! Now, please understand I don’t know any Japanese, so a lot of the information here is things that happened, but I can’t tell you much about the dialogue. I’m dying for someone to translate it once the movie becomes available everywhere.
Spoilers below:
The movie starts in a ship off the coast of Kanagawa, Japan, that is being attacked by the infamous peace breakers led by Akira Ignatov, Kei’s strange brother. The men in the ship are SAD agents that are getting murdered left and right. What do the peacebreakers want? Get something from a woman named Stronoyka who is currently traveling in the ship. From the synopsis we know this woman holds a dossier that details how to destroy Sibyl (or something of the sort, can’t quite remember). Kogami is the first on the scene in a suit reminiscent of a flying squirrel, but unfortunately, he’s too late. He looks hot as hell though when he jumps in the water.
The intro with a song by Ling Tosite Sigure had me excited to be watching a Psycho-Pass movie in a movie theater and surrounded by Japanese fans of the movie. It was sweet!
To skip ahead, SAD and the MWPSB have to work together. Akane, Kogami, Ginoza, Sugo, Saiga and Frederica travel to Dejima to investigate, I think. Let’s get to the meat of what the fandom wants to know.
Kogami and Ginoza Reunited
Akane is talking to Frederica and as they’re walking towards Division 1 office, they find Ginoza grabbing Kogami by the collar and yelling at him while Sugo is trying to separate them. What was Ginoza saying? No idea, but he was probably getting back at Kogami for leaving or coming back, etc.
At some point, however, Kogami and Ginoza fight together against their enemies. There seems to be some will for reconciliation.
Akane and Kogami Reunited
Akane walks in the room with Frederica when Gino is yelling at Kogami. Ko says “Kanishkan” at some point, so I think he’s addressing Akane, but her reaction is…should I say, enigmatic? Indifferent? Maybe she’s controlling herself?
SAD and the aforementioned team travel together to Dejima, and Akane and Kogami barely talk on the way. Once there, Saiga and Kogami talk and at some point they mention Akane. Later Akane calls Kogami while he’s in his room. They both sound like they disagree about something or like something is awkward between them and Akane hangs up on him, surprising him.
The thing about this movie is that they gave Akane the cutest outfits. Especially one in a very crucial moment. I’m so glad they made her look so cute and beautiful in the movie.
At some point the infamous peacebreakers begin their attack, and in the famous explosion scene, Frederica, Saiga, Kogami and Akane are walking down a hallway when an explosion goes off. Kogami doesn’t even think once about protecting Saiga or Frederica, he straight up runs to Akane and they fall to the ground. There are some lines of dialogue here while he’s laying on top of her. This is the part when Akane gets her bruised cheek.
In another scene, after Akira basically gives himself up, Kogami is interrogating him and then another guy shows up and shoots at them. Kogami gets shot and he ends up in the hospital. Akane visits him and when he makes to start smoking, she takes the cigarette off his mouth. There’s a moment here where it seems like he’s teasing her, because he sits up on his bed and kinda leans towards her. Very cute moment between them.
Saiga
Saiga and Kogami have a long talk about many things (I assume, remember, I don’t know any Japanese) but at some point they mention Akane.
A very sad, traumatic moment for Akane. They get attacked by a specially unkillable peacebreaker and Saiga ends up being held hostage by the guy. In the last moment, what we feared happens. Saiga’s last words are for Akane. Our poor girl suffers a lot and Kogami is there to console her and help her push through. They look so good together!
Akira, Kei, Maiko, Arata and Arata’s Dad
Honestly, most of the plot escapes me. Akira at some point even fights himself. He seems to be controlled by an old man who appears to be creating his own version of Sibyl. Akane is actually invited to Kei and Maiko’s wedding and on the same night Arata’s dad, with whom she seemed to have a very good relationship (there’s a lot of dialogue between Arata’s dad and Akane), killls himself while holding a photo of his family.
Craziness Ensues
Akane agrees to meet the mastermind behind all these terror attacks while a tactical team formed by Frederica, Gino, Kogami and Sugo fighting lasers from the air attack the headquarters of the peacebreakers. Here we see for the first time the two old dudes that become obsessed with Kogami in Season 3.
While everyone is fighting and there are explosions and shooting everywhere, Akane has a dialogue with the mastermind. At some point she draws her dominator but his crime coefficient is around 40. The whole place begins to collapse and by then, the mastermind has shot Akane on the leg and has her cuffed. They discuss and debate when he shoots her again (that asshole!). By the time Kogami shows up to rescue her, the other man is pointing his gut right at Akane’s forehead while they debate. At some point Akane says something that irks the guy and he pistol whips her a little bit. Kogami shoots him and gets her out of there.
The craziest plot twist
They show Akane dressed in a ceremonial uniform (and she looks so beautiful!) while Kogami is confined to an isolation facility. He begins reading a letter she wrote to him. They show her at a ceremony where it seems she will be recognized for her achievements. It is here when Akane shoots Chief Kasei in front of everyone.
They show Mika running to arrest Akane for her crime and she yells at Akane with frustration for what she did. Akane offers no resistance. As Kogami is reading the letter he looks angry, frustrated and sad for what Akane did. Why did she do it? We will have to wait until someone translates the movie.
Akane’s face is plastered all over the news as the inspector who went crazy and killed her boss. They show a parallel of Kogami walking out of the isolation facility while Akane is walking in. They don’t cross paths, but once Akane is alone she completely breaks down sobbing uncontrollably. It was so sad to see her suffer like that! Then they show Kogami walking free on the street and he says something and then the movie ends. Did Akane go to jail because of Kogami?
I’ll write more thoughts tomorrow! Overall it was well made. Lots of CGI and explosions almost made me think at times that I was watching a Transformers movie.

Todays rip: 02/03/2024
One-Winged DJ
Season 7 Featured on: The Year of Grand Dad Sound Selection [Side A]

youtube
You may have noticed that I try to keep an air of suspense when doing posts on the King for Another Day tournament such as Thank You, Everybody!. That is, of course, to not spoil the victor of Season 4 Episode 1's year-defining event - but at this point, it's a bit of a fruitless endeavor to try and uphold. Because DJ Professor K's victory celebrations haven't just been contained to his awarded day-long takeover during Season 4 Episode 2 - the takeover that gave us incredible rips like AIN'T NOTHIN' LIKE A CHUNKY BEAT, 88811, Ska Cha Cha (Rotten Mix) at an absolute breakneck pace during the SiIvaSummer All-Star Festival. Because during that takeover, a new flame was kindled - a flame by the name of Jet Set Radio Evolution.
Hideki Naganuma's style of sample-filled funk music is DJ Professor K's headlining ripping source, the one most closely associated with the game that the character originates from. Yet its a style that can be expressed in so many ways, not needing to be derivative of any prior existing songs from the two Jet Set Radio games - September, for instance, is able to sound authentically Naganuma-esque whilst being built off of a song as far away from his style as possible. Jet Set Radio Evolution, then, is an entirely made-up game - its name and logo deriving from a declined proof-of-concept, but its "soundtrack" completely made up by the SiIvaGunner team. This is far from the first fake game on the channel, and not the first one to be done without much of a shred of irony (Kirby Rip Attack is due for coverage on here) - but, notably, its a fake game born specifically to keep DJ Professor K's impact on the channel alive in the Seasons past his takeover. And, well, it took a few Seasons, but during Season 7, the team started going truly ham in utilizing its true potential.
There are a number of these Jet Set Radio Evolution rips I want to cover on here, both ones from DJ Professor K's takeover and from its revitalized usage during Season 7 - but to me, it was One-Winged DJ that really showed just how much flexibility rippers have with Naganuma's style of music. One-Winged Angel has long been seen as a sort of legendary track to rip due just how extensive of a song it is, a song that has a distinctly menacing feel to it that I can't imagine is easy to translate into a rip. Rips like One Winged PSYcho - V.S. Sepsyrop feel like absolutely herculean endeavors, and during Season 7 in particular we saw an absolute tidal wave of rips using it, as if it were just any other meme source in the channel's backlog and not this legendary 7-minute long work of art. Hen'yoku no Piraman was the first of these I covered, and while One-Winged DJ is likely far from the last, it still manages to feel like it sticks out from the crowd in just how dense of a sound it has - likely a result of how many people contributed to its creation.
There's the obvious highlight, of course: Chase Beck, the voice of DJ Professor K himself, returns to the role with new lines to supplement the original choir in latin of the original song, and it immediately gives the rip a charm to it, especially all these years after the original event and after Chase Beck's last "needed" performance as the character had long since passed. Before that even gets to kick in, though, its hard not to notice just how many different parts of Jet Set Radio's soundtracks are utilized right from the beginning: a bassline and voicelines echoing That's Enough, samples and pacing from Sneakman, the interlude's melody broken by the noise and chaos of The Concept of Love, and all throughout using small little sound effects and one-second samples from all over the games' soundscapes.
This is the kind of rip I could sit here and dissect for pages on end, yet I believe the point has been made abundantly clear already. In a Season already FILLED with celebration of every part of SiIvaGunner's life, One-Winged DJ is an absolute flex of a celebration, reminding us all of why DJ Professor K truly earned his win whilst showing just how much there is to still be done within the ever-appealing Naganuma style. I'm beyond proud of the rippers involved in how this rip turned out, and hope that the Jet Set Radio Evolution rips continue to impress into Season 8.
