One-Winged DJ
Season 7 Featured on: The Year of Grand Dad Sound Selection [Side A]
Ripped by duuzu, digboye, COCONABE, l4ureleye, Netyasha Roozi, Jiko Music Performed by Chase Beck
youtube
You may have noticed that I try to keep an air of suspense when doing posts on the King for Another Day tournament such as Thank You, Everybody!. That is, of course, to not spoil the victor of Season 4 Episode 1's year-defining event - but at this point, it's a bit of a fruitless endeavor to try and uphold. Because DJ Professor K's victory celebrations haven't just been contained to his awarded day-long takeover during Season 4 Episode 2 - the takeover that gave us incredible rips like AIN'T NOTHIN' LIKE A CHUNKY BEAT, 88811, Ska Cha Cha (Rotten Mix) at an absolute breakneck pace during the SiIvaSummer All-Star Festival. Because during that takeover, a new flame was kindled - a flame by the name of Jet Set Radio Evolution.
Hideki Naganuma's style of sample-filled funk music is DJ Professor K's headlining ripping source, the one most closely associated with the game that the character originates from. Yet its a style that can be expressed in so many ways, not needing to be derivative of any prior existing songs from the two Jet Set Radio games - September, for instance, is able to sound authentically Naganuma-esque whilst being built off of a song as far away from his style as possible. Jet Set Radio Evolution, then, is an entirely made-up game - its name and logo deriving from a declined proof-of-concept, but its "soundtrack" completely made up by the SiIvaGunner team. This is far from the first fake game on the channel, and not the first one to be done without much of a shred of irony (Kirby Rip Attack is due for coverage on here) - but, notably, its a fake game born specifically to keep DJ Professor K's impact on the channel alive in the Seasons past his takeover. And, well, it took a few Seasons, but during Season 7, the team started going truly ham in utilizing its true potential.
There are a number of these Jet Set Radio Evolution rips I want to cover on here, both ones from DJ Professor K's takeover and from its revitalized usage during Season 7 - but to me, it was One-Winged DJ that really showed just how much flexibility rippers have with Naganuma's style of music. One-Winged Angel has long been seen as a sort of legendary track to rip due just how extensive of a song it is, a song that has a distinctly menacing feel to it that I can't imagine is easy to translate into a rip. Rips like One Winged PSYcho - V.S. Sepsyrop feel like absolutely herculean endeavors, and during Season 7 in particular we saw an absolute tidal wave of rips using it, as if it were just any other meme source in the channel's backlog and not this legendary 7-minute long work of art. Hen'yoku no Piraman was the first of these I covered, and while One-Winged DJ is likely far from the last, it still manages to feel like it sticks out from the crowd in just how dense of a sound it has - likely a result of how many people contributed to its creation.
There's the obvious highlight, of course: Chase Beck, the voice of DJ Professor K himself, returns to the role with new lines to supplement the original choir in latin of the original song, and it immediately gives the rip a charm to it, especially all these years after the original event and after Chase Beck's last "needed" performance as the character had long since passed. Before that even gets to kick in, though, its hard not to notice just how many different parts of Jet Set Radio's soundtracks are utilized right from the beginning: a bassline and voicelines echoing That's Enough, samples and pacing from Sneakman, the interlude's melody broken by the noise and chaos of The Concept of Love, and all throughout using small little sound effects and one-second samples from all over the games' soundscapes.
This is the kind of rip I could sit here and dissect for pages on end, yet I believe the point has been made abundantly clear already. In a Season already FILLED with celebration of every part of SiIvaGunner's life, One-Winged DJ is an absolute flex of a celebration, reminding us all of why DJ Professor K truly earned his win whilst showing just how much there is to still be done within the ever-appealing Naganuma style. I'm beyond proud of the rippers involved in how this rip turned out, and hope that the Jet Set Radio Evolution rips continue to impress into Season 8.

TOYHOU.SE TIPS FOR BEGINNERS
Hi! I’m new to Toyhou.se, and only started dipping my toes into coding a few months ago.
Although I can’t code properly yet, I still have some tips for getting into use of the website.
Disclaimer: This is only useful for very new beginners, I am not claiming to understand any of what I’m talking about!
1. FINDING YOUR PROFILE CODING THINGY
To code your profile, you need to go to settings, as seen here:
Tumblr media
It’s going to be a bit overwhelming, but familiarise yourself with each tab of your settings bar.
Here is where you want to go:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The biggest part of using this HTML code box is to disable the WYSIWYG, which will allow you to actually input HTML and run it.
You do that by tapping this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can find HTML templates by browsing.
Tumblr media
The search page is pretty self explanatory, just have a flip through and familiarise yourself with the search settings. These settings are very diverse, and you should have no issue perusing the website to its full potential.
If you want to find codes type “profile” into the tags bar, that usually works for me
IMPORTANT NOTE: When using a template or code made by someone else, remember to read the rules of the code, boundaries are important! And make sure you always credit. The credit will often already be provided, so make sure to not obscure that. If it is, add credit somewhere visible on the page.
2. UPLOADING A CHARACTER
You can create a character here:
Tumblr media
It will always be customisable, so if you need to customise it after submission, here’s how you find it again:
Tumblr media
You’re gonna want to click on the characters icon:
Tumblr media
And from there, search for CONTROL SETTINGS in the bar to the left. It will be in Manage Character > Edit Profile:
Tumblr media
3. WEBSITES THAT WILL BE YOUR BESTEST BUDDY FOREVER
For Coding:

4. CODE LINES THAT MIGHT SAVE YOUR ASS SOME SEARCHING ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION
For Full-Page Backgrounds:
<div style="position:absolute;top:0;bottom:0;left:0; background:url(IMAGE URL HERE) fixed center;background-size:cover;width:100%;z-index:-1;"></div>
For Full-Profile Backgrounds:
<div class="col-lg-2 col-md-3 hidden-sm-down sidebar" style="height:75px;position:fixed;right:inherit;left:0;bottom:0;"></div>
<div class="card rounded-0 border-0 col-lg-10 offset-lg-2 col-md-9 offset-md-3 p-0" style="overflow:hidden;position:fixed;bottom:0;top:0;left:0;z-index:-1; background-image: url(IMAGE URL HERE); background-attachment: fixed; background-size: cover; background-position: center;"> </div>
For Colour+Opacity:
style="color:rgba(0,0,0,0.1)"
(add in the RGB values (not HTML code) into the first three 0s for your colour. The 0.1 can be adjusted, i.e. 0.80, for the opacity)

what do you think it's the real reason the fandom doesn't care about jikook's friendship? even non shipper ARMYs? Me for example I like and get soft over other jm duos but I feel nothing when I see or think about jikook and I can't pinpoint why
For me, it's always been about how I feel towards the other member. I could never empathize with vmin, for example. Everyone knows I never liked, and still don't like vmin. I don't feel anything when I look at Taehyung, and I don't feel anything about his interactions with Jimin either.
Jungkook then became the same as Taehyung for me, so I started not feeling anything about jikook either.
Chemistry and vibes isn't only a thing for fanfiction and ships. It's a real human thing, and we all "feel" it, parasocially or not.
I can accept facts, and be objective that they all love each other but I can't be "AWWWW THEY'RE SO CUTE" because I just really don't feel anything.
Aside from jikook, I liked yoonmin for like two weeks when I first got into BTS but then my attention shifted towards Namjoon, and Yoongi was kind of an asshole so I've liked minimoni since. And still, even if I like them, you're not gonna see me keyboard smashing about how cute minimoni are because that's just not the person I am.
I think it's also about the lack of verbal confirmation from their side; like you'd be called insane for not thinking that vmin are sooo cute because of the "soulmate" thing, and the song friends or whatever. There's something like that for a few ships in BTS, but not for jikook. You don't get things like Jimin going to lollapalooza with Hoseok, and then Hoseok doing the most during face days for Jimin, too. In jikook, that stuff usually comes from Jimin only. I mean, everyone was saying vmin divorced literally until Jimin showed up on that music show.
On top of that, you have Jungkook being hot and cold like yeah he does some good stuff now and then; but then he can also be a piece of shit, so there's that. It all kinda balances itself out in people's minds.
Majority of the fandom are taekookers, too. That's just it, and you don't need any explanation of why they don't like Jimin. If it's not the delusional ones hating because of the ship, it's the other kind of delusional ones who think Taehyung is more successful than Jimin. There is a lot of rivalry in that sense with Jungkook, too. They don't want Jimin doing better than them, and sometimes this applies to jikookers, too. If they're JK biased, chances are they will support him more than they support Jimin. Eventually, those people stop supporting the ship altogether as well and become solo stans.
I've had this post in drafts for a few weeks, and for some reason I had this link added though I don't remember if I wanted to say something about it. I'll leave it here anyways.

MUCC – Interview (2019)
Tumblr media
Your album released in February is titled Kowareta Piano to Living Dead (“The Broken Piano and the Living Dead”). You listened to 140 demos that you created a long time ago and chose 9 of them to make this album. That sounds like a really difficult task. How did you choose the songs?
Miya (guitar): We listened to them all.
What’s the meaning of the album’s title? Where did it come from?
Miya: I dug up an old-timey sound from the grave and then made this album with it.
Of all the songs on the new album, which do you like the best?
Tatsuro (vocal): I’m into “Living Dead”.
Miya: All of them!
YUKKE (bass): “Psycho”. It has this incredible power to make an atmosphere of horror when it’s played as the first song of the night, and that makes it really fun to perform.
SATOchi (drums): “Living Dead”, because I can play the drums for this while my emotions pour out!
At the Osaka show, the performance of “Sekisou” was particularly moving. Tatsuro, can you tell us about this song? What was the meaning of the candle?
Tatsuro: I wanted to sing a song about the regret everybody must carry around with them. I wanted to make a song in the style of film scores, and I wanted the performance to evoke that, too, so I used a candle to convey that image.
During “Jiko Keno”, Miya pretended to kill Yoshida. It was surprising and interesting. Miya, did you decide “Let’s do this!” in the moment?
Miya: It was a spur-of-the-moment thing.
Recently, MUCC released some singles on cassette tape, and you also produced a cassette player to go with them. What’s the meaning behind these nostalgic things?
Miya: It’s because I feel drawn to outdated things in this age of digital convenience.
MUCC’s sound is very unique — you incorporate rock, metal, dubstep, rap and jazz into your music. “IN THE SHADOWS” is a good example of this. What is the inspiration behind mixing all these genres together?
Miya: To show respect to these various genres.
This year MUCC celebrated their 22nd anniversary. Congratulations. What is your inspiration to continue to move forward?
Miya: Always seeking for something new to discover.
I think MUCC has been reflecting on the MUCC of the past. If you could go back in time, is there anything you would want to do over?
Miya: Nothing!

Cut Reeling Rico Dialogue
For the sake of archiving it, here’s Rico’s cut dialogue. Rico was the NPC tied to the dreambrew mechanic, as well as a self-admitted priest of St Trina. I’ve separated it based on how the IDs are handled. Worth noting, Rico is referred to as Rhico here, but his NPC name is Reeling Rico, and in another datamined text he’s referred to as Monk Jiko, presumably a reference to the monk from Princess Mononoke.
Hm. A new face, are you? Well, while you’re here. Have you, too, been seduced by the good lady alcohol? Perhaps you’ve heard of dreambrew, the nectar of the demigods, once forbidden to we mortals? Well, believe it or not, I know just how to make it. And if you were to help me gather its ingredients, I’d gladly share some with you. The Lands Between are no kind place for we Tarnished. And I’m getting too old to keep scavenging corpses on the battlefield…
You’ll help me then? Wonderful! Music to my ears. Then take this with you. That, is St. Trina’s Crystal Ball. It can be used to take slumber fog from those submerged in deepest sleep, those merry fools sunk so low they will not awaken. Dreambrew, I should say, is a special filtration of slumber fog.
Go ahead and bring me some slumber fog, my compeer. About two should do it, by my reckoning… And then I’ll have enough dreambrew to share. Drink is a wonderful teacher. Imbibe and you will understand; this world’s delights, and its futility.
You what? You hardly know what you’re missing out on. Well, suit yourself. But I’m sure you’ll be after a drink before long. Perhaps you’ll tire of this crumbling world… Or maybe you’ll wish to uncover someone’s deepest, darkest secrets…
What? Taken an interest in the finer things, after all? Like dreambrew, the nectar of the demigods, once forbidden to we mortals? Well, believe it or not, I know just how to make it. And if you were to help me gather its ingredients, I’d gladly share some with you. What do you say?
Ah, I’ve been eagerly awaiting your return. How did you fare? Find any slumber fog? Hmm, not quite enough. As I said, if you’d like me to share some dreambrew with you, we’ll need two doses of slumber fog, or thereabouts.
I see, I see. You have what I asked. All splendid fogs of superior quality. Sediment firmly settled, mm. Good work, my compeer. Here’s the dreambrew I promised. All yours.
Bring me more slumber fog, my compeer. Do so, and I’ll have a bottle of dreambrew with your name on it.
Allow me a little advice, my compeer. Dreambrew is known to drag people’s secrets into the daylight. If that’s what you seek, rather than the usual fleeting pleasures, Then treat them to some dreambrew. Secrets are like fine wine. The longer they mature in the dark, the richer the flavour… Know that, and all will be as you desire. Friendship, rule, intrigue…
Did you forget something?
Oh, hello there. Have you brought me some more slumber fog? You certainly have a taste for spirits. I’m sure I’ll be seeing a lot more of you. …  (falls asleep)
…  (hmm..) …  (hmm..)
As you surely know, my compeer, I am but a humble man of the cloth. And I must profess, the study of alcohol is but another form of worship. Oh, St. Trina. My faith is in alcohol, and the hearts of men.
Ah, good to see you. I heard the path to the Haligtree had been reopened. So I forced these old bones to weather the journey. Don’t tell me it was you who opened the passage? Nevertheless, it’s rather nippy in these lands, eh. But there’s nothing like a good drink to warm the cockles…
Did you need something else?
Oh it’s, good, good to see you. I think I was about to freeze solid.
…  (falls asleep)
… … You know, a holy personage was once abducted from these lands. Thus I am here in search of clues that might unravel the mystery. The abductor’s bloody footprints are said to have disappeared in the Forest of Ancient Bowers. Hm? That’s quite a face you’re pulling… Need I remind you? Though I am but a humble man of the cloth, each of us has our secrets, my compeer.
You know, a holy personage was once abducted from these lands. Thus I am here in search of clues that might unravel the mystery. The abductor’s bloody footprints are said to have disappeared in the Forest of Ancient Bowers.
Finally, I have found it! St. Trina’s, no, Lord Miquella’s cadaver. I have partaken of untold secrets. Such that I might aid you, O Lord. So please, I hope you can welcome your humble servant Rhico, Into your dream, the world of your heart. Indeed, I beg you grant my wish, That when you transcend from empyrean to god, allow me a place by your side.
I have partaken of untold secrets. Such that I might aid you, O Lord. So please, I hope you can welcome your humble servant Rhico, Into your dream, the world of your heart.
…  (deep sleep, never to awaken)
Oh ho, are you asking me to partake? Well, I haven’t got a clue what to think. Is this outright impudence? Simple callousness? Or genuine kindness, I wonder? … Well, what matters it? I’ll take some, regardless. You couldn’t possibly fathom the secrets I possess, my compeer.
…  (falls asleep)
… Have you lost your marbles? You do know I’m merely a beggar. I’ve nothing left to give.
Haven’t you Tarnished any respect? For those who came before you.
Well, that knocked the wind out of me. The perfect time to try that special reserve…
You base, facile, uncharitable bastard… You’re beyond help, my compeer…

Hi, the person again who wondered how you are able to write so much at the same time. First of all thank you for opening up about this, I hope I didn't make you sad or anything with my question, I was really just curious and amazed. And I actually think you have a lot of talent for this.
You say writing has become your therapy, it is the same with reading for me. I've been officially diagnosed with depression and some kind of anxiety disorder that I dont really know how to translate correctly back in 2014 and have since then been fighting. Sadly I dont have much support in this fight so listening to music, going to concerts and reading fanfiction has become my escape from my mind for a long time now. I feel like it is also why I like reading Angst and Hurt/Comfort so much, because I don't really have a support system.
I kind of like Niko even more now, when you say you came to this fanfiction fandom through Niko.
Hello again
No, not sad or anything. I've come to accept it.
Thank you so much for saying I'm talented 😭😭😭
I'm sorry you don't really have support in your fight, I'm but an internet stranger but I'm glad you have some kind of escape with stories/music/concerts. I offer support from afar🫂
Same reason I write so much angst hurt/comfortable.
Yeah it was a tour vlog and Niko mentioned reading Jiko fanfic (and Joonas said it pales compared to what really happens in the bus😂)

Kona Cafe's Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes: Recipe with Sauce
Tumblr media
Kona Cafe's Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes are a delicious and indulgent breakfast option that offer a taste of the tropics. Served at the Kona Cafe in Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, these pancakes are a popular menu item that draw inspiration from the flavors of Hawaii. The pancakes are made with a fluffy and buttery batter, studded with crunchy macadamia nuts and chunks of sweet pineapple. Topped with a dollop of whipped cream, these pancakes are a decadent breakfast treat that is perfect for a special occasion or a lazy weekend morning. In this context, we can explore the cultural significance of macadamia nuts and pineapple in Hawaiian cuisine, and how they have become popular ingredients in a variety of dishes and desserts. We can also discuss the importance of using high-quality ingredients, such as fresh pineapple and locally sourced macadamia nuts, to create a delicious and wholesome breakfast. Finally, we can highlight the unique experience of dining at the Kona Cafe and how it offers a taste of the tropics in the heart of Disney World. More Delicious Recipes You Will Love: - Lemon Garlic Shrimp Spoodles Recipe: A Delicious and Easy Meal - Mac And Cheese With Red Wine Sauce – Jiko - Magical Star Cocktail – Disney Parks So last week was Fat Tuesday and it has always been a tradition for me to have pancakes for good luck.  And I’m in the midst of my post-trip Disney blues, which meant that no ordinary pancakes would do.  I’m craving Disney, in the worst possible way…  For lucky pancakes, nothing short of Disney pancakes could be considered acceptable. Apparently, I must have pleased the Tiki God of pancakes (is there such a thing?) because not only did I manage to find the perfect pancake recipe, but it is from Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. Can I just say, if there was ever in the world a recipe that was more like a warm hug then this one, honestly, I don’t know what it is.  First off, that amazing smell every morning that floats through the Polynesian?  Turns out it’s these pancakes.  It’s the most beautiful smell and it instantly brought me back to Disney.  All that was missing was the tiki music and a tropical fountain.  Seriously, I got a little choked up. I’ll admit that while these may not look terribly gorgeous (and they don’t at Kona either), as far as taste, let me just say…  Pure heaven.  These may be the best pancakes I’ve had in my entire life, and that’s saying something as I’m quite the pancake connoisseur. They taste deliciously sweet, and the pineapple paired with the butter creates this beautiful, nutty, tropical flavor that goes so well with the pancakes.  I’m not joking when I say that now I crave these pancakes…  All the time.  They’re really just that good. I made no real changes to the recipe, other then accidentally burning the toasted macadamia nuts ever so slightly.  I suggest making the pineapple sauce first, allowing that to cook while preparing the pancakes.  The nut butter keeps really, really well in the fridge and, as I’ve discovered, tastes good on everything.  I’m almost embarrassed to share all the things I’ve put it on. A simple-to-make, insanely delicious pancake recipe that makes my house smell like the Polynesian?  I may be in serious trouble… ~~~~  °o°  ~~~~ In addition to the delicious food and recipes, Disney World is also known for its unique dining experiences, such as character dining and themed restaurants. Whether you want to have breakfast with Mickey Mouse, dine in a replica of a sci-fi drive-in theater at Hollywood Studios, or enjoy a meal with an ocean view at the Coral Reef Restaurant in Epcot, there's something for everyone. And with the help of Recipes Today and the How to Make category, you can even recreate some of these magical dining experiences in your own home. Todays rip: 04/04/2024
Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess
Season 5 Featured on: SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips: Volume C
Ripped by Jiko Music (@jikomusic)
youtube
Requested by Memmy! (Discord)
Well, would you look at that: It's a rip request six months in the making!! I hope the wait will have been worth it, Memmy! And thank you endlessly for championing the blog so early on in its life <3.
Now - I recently spilled a lot of words regarding SiIvaGunner's fifth annual April Fools event back with Your Best Nightmario and Bowser's Finale, just four days ago. It is arguably one of the channel's all-time high points, an event that I still see discussed from time to time by random internet dwellers, even now three years later. And its clear to see why: akin to something like Mega Man Dropping January 7th‼️from earlier this year with Hella Pummel, Mario's "Death" on March 31st was an event that a huge part of the internet was already keenly aware of, one we'd all been anticipating, and one that SiIvaGunner in turn had a golden opportunity to leverage for an amazing channel event. From March 31st to April 3rd, we got to see Mario's existence as a figment be celebrated for one final day, then be entirely erased from the SiIvaGunner channel's reality at the day's end, only to then begin fighting tooth-and-nail in Your Best Nightmario for his memory to live on - a battle that, through our continued support as YouTube commenters, he was able to win in Bowser's Finale. A storybook journey, a clear beginning/middle/end structure, with a clearly-told message by the end of it all - Super Mario was back.
Yet, it still wouldn't be complete without that one last touch. Any book needs a back cover, any film its credits roll, any game a return to the title screen. Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess, then, was what truly closed the whole event out - and in typical SiIvaGunner fashion, did so in a deviously clever manner.
A lot of the appeal in this event as a whole, I feel, is just how easily understood the bit was at a moment's glance. Without even clicking on the videos, a viewer will notice Mario's gone, it's IMMEDIATELY apparent that something is wrong - and that likely drew a lot of eyes to the event that may have otherwise missed it. This shift in dynamics with how viewers engage with the SiIvaGunner channel is practically what this year's April Fools event, from just a few days ago, was entirely built on, yet there it was done in an incredibly tounge-and-cheek way. Because really, what it pretends to be doing almost goes against everything the channel is meant to be! The bait-and-switch, though not nearly as effective as it once was back in Season 1 with rips like Be Cool, Be Wild, and Be My Girl, IS core to what the SiIvaGunner channel is all about. It has always been a channel all about surprising you with something delightful, be that with surprise bangers like Beyond the Floating Isles, hilariously executed bits like THIS RIP WAS MADE BY TEETH GANG, or everything inbetween. There's a reason why I said that this year's event only *pretends* to be going against this - because the bit with this year's overly-explained, corny titles, is that the rips themselves still hold a secret bait-and-switch bit within them. Even when it appears to be quite literally explaining the joke, the channel hides further layers to rips just out of sight.
But what does all of that have to do with Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess? Well, what I'm trying to say isn't that the Season 5 April Fools day event betrayed the essence of SiIvaGunner or anything - rather, that by intentionally breaking its own rules for an entire day's worth of uploads, rules it had otherwise kept up for five whole years prior, it made this sudden subversion and the stakes of the event hit all the harder. That part may be rather obvious, sure, yet the brilliant thing here is that as a closer to the event, Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess employs the exact same trick in reverse order. Because after an entire day's worth of rips going against the grain, a storyline clear as crystal to follow no matter what rip you've landed on - the LAST thing anyone would've expected would be for it to close with something so seemingly low-key, standard-fare, outright NORMAL for the SiIvaGunner channel, as a single rip of Super Mario 64's Staff Roll theme. I'm sure many were expecting a grand fusion collab, some sort of CCC-esque lore video, a true mind-blowing celebration of the journey's end...and yet, to me, this return to normalcy is absolutely brilliant in so many ways, both as a subversion of those expectations, but on so many layers yet deeper. Yes, it marks the return to the SiIvaGunner status quo, it marks that Super Mario has finally been remembered - yet look beyond that, and you may just realize that Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess's one joke subtly hides layers of meaning, that almost recontexualize the entire event.
But, alright, let's get the ground rules set first - Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess is an absolutely lovely rip as is in isolation. Jiko Music is no stranger to the channel nor to the blog, having worked on several hidden-gem favorites of mine such as Trail on Powdery Snow Halation and YACKER TOILET - they very clearly know their way around a rip, and have a stellar track record over their seven years of activity. Super Mario 64's Staff Roll theme is a lovely piece of music already, one I covered a fair bit already with Staff Roll (SM64) Fusion, and Jiko Music absolutely leverages that quality to full effect here - its nostalgic percussion, melody, and instruments that sound so indescribably "Nintendo 64" push this arrangement to some truly excellent emotional heights. The original song's vocals are no longer here, akin to rips like Blessing the Dire, Dire Rains - yet through changing the lead melody's instrument from section to section, from verse to chorus, Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess is able to elegantly replicate how the original song's vocals would change per how many of its six vocalists were singing at any one time. It's a great rip!! ...but wait, what exactly IS the original song its arranging?
Alright, here we go - Fukashigi No Carte is the ending theme to the anime series "Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai", a story about many things, yet primarily about a mysterious girl suddenly made invisible to the world around her, dressed in the titular "bunny girl" costume. The immediate surface-level box to tick is, of course, that it's the ending theme to an anime, a credits roll to match the dramatic storyline of the event - but you may also start connecting some other dots, too, hm? Mai Sakurajima, the titular bunny girl, isn't merely made invisible to the world - she is FORGOTTEN by the public consciousness, her existence at all erased from all's mind, save for the series' protagonist who works to get the rest of the world to acknowledge her existence. Sakurajima's curse in the series is, effectively, that of a forgotten Figment - the fate that befell Mario in this very event, with us as the audience taking the role of the story's protagonist, together helping Mario win the fight against his fate by collectively remembering him.
That's a great reference all on its own, but there's another part left to discuss - the coolest part, I'd argue! Unlike comparable events such as Season 7's with ...of 2023, the Season 5 April Fools event spanned a total of five days - from the day Mario's execution was scheduled on the 31st, to April 1st itself when the event of his disappearance kicked into gear, a day-long break of April 2nd leaving his fate uncertain, the final push to resurrection on April 3rd, and the credits rolling on April 4th - which, during 2021 in particular, just so happened to be Easter. And do you notice anything in particular about this timeline of events? Executed on the 31st of March, brought back from the brink on April 3rd: Mario, just like Jesus Christ himself, AROSE ON THE THIRD DAY. Almost through sheer luck, the holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ fell *right* next to Mario's great story of returning from public execution - allowing the whole event to come to a close on the most perfect day imaginable. And aside from Jesus himself, what is THE thing that defines Easter as a holiday?
That's right - The Easter Bunny. Bunnies. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.
The way every single puzzle piece clicked into place for Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess to work is genuinely incredible and some of the coolest shit I've ever seen the channel pull off. Not only is the rip itself a beautiful listen, it nails the landing on every single imaginable front: Subverting the expectations of the entire event's premise by its return to the status quo of rips, connecting the very lore that the SiIvaGunner channel is built on to an anime series with a rather iconic and recognizable ending theme - and connecting the event's storyline to the very foundation of the Easter holiday, and one of the Bible's most well-known events. On the very last video of the event's runtime, Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess made SUPER FUCKING MARIO into a Jesus allegory within the SiIvaGunner channel - and if that's the case, does that make Grand Dad the holy spirit? Is SiIvaGunner ITSELF a loose allegory for Christianity?!
...Mamma Mia, this post got long. But I hope you've been able to understand why I have so many words to say on it - so many thoughts finally able to spill over in the three years I've spent ruminating on this incredible event. Mario's return itself after Bowser's Finale was already pitch-perfect, featuring a sudden reappearance of The Reboot from Season 1 (don't get me started, I'll be here all day) - but ending it all off with something so seemingly plain, yet hiding so many layers of beauty and connective tissue, as Mario Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Princess...it, to this day, blows me away how perfectly the pieces clicked into place.

HI TAKOKO THATS SO CUTE CAN I USE IT (also please take this as also a question inviting you to rant about takemichi!!! i would love to hear your hot takes)
FLAPS!! absolutely u can use takoko. one day i’ll help fill up the tag sdjkh
I have. so many thoughts abt takemichi.
i think hes a poet! when he writes hes very cynical and HEAVY on the metaphors. his style isnt exactly Smooth and Flowy either there’s a lot of spots where it just gets rough. if it were a texture itd be like. slush. when he’s in captivity he does a lot of reading and literature analysis. this post sponsored by my special interest in poetry
iirc in the udg artbook theres a note on his design page that says he was loyal to “the brothers” (as opposed to just mondo) which means 1) he knew daiya and was His bodyguard too and they were just as close (which. considering takemichi was the most important person to mondo outside of hopes peak. is Pretty Close) and 2) he and mondo have known each other for YEARS. timelinewise if im doing my math correctly the latest daiya could have died would be Mondo’s first year of high school (though im willing to bet it was earlier just kinda based on how he talks about him and his death ingame, which, in his memory, would have been just a few months beforehand). considering takemichi is Also stated to be 1 year younger than mondo then the earliest they could have met was during mondos last year of middle school. i choose to believe they met in his second year tho. just 4 fun
also irt to all that i DO believe in the daiya takemichi father son dynamic so much. i usually write takemichi as being a foster kid with not the best guardians? so he stays with the oowadas more nights than not. and daiya cares about him so much. michi and daiya r both trans and my evidence is i want them to be and daiya calls takemichi little man All the Time
because takemichi is tiny and not intimidating i imagine that he met the oowadas and THEN joined the gang later, not the other way around. he met mondo in middle school and they got in a fight and when daiya came to pick mondo up and saw this kid with hair he clearly cut himself saying that his guardians werent gonna show up and he’d like to start walking before it got dark he was like. uh oh. sonboy. new sonboy.
later when daiya’s old bodyguard had to move away michi was like. ill bodyguard. i can fight. and daiya was Not for it. so takemichi decided to start working out to prove he could do it and, along with getting his hands on every book and video on proper technique he could, he joined a forum. and i KNOW theres no basis in canon for this but kenshiro and yuta r also on the forum to talk abt mma and hokuto shinken/ track and field respectively and they become internet friends. i just think itd be neat
obviously im big on takemichi and takaaki teaming up in towa (i usually call this dynamic notdad bc like. takaaki would obviously be so hesitant to be a father again for so long but theyre absolutely family). in some tls takaaki finds out the results of the killing game while in towa and hides it from takemichi. sometimes they find out together. sometimes they find out after the future foundation rescues them. depends
SPEAKING OF FUTURE FOUNDATION. all the captives (minus. yuta and komaru.) work there after the events of udg. ive never seen the dr3 anime and i dont plan on it im right
takaaki and takemichi share an apartment (because. again. family) until takaaki marries hiroko. takaaki ends up legally adopting takemichi so hiro and him ARE brothers (plus one kid that takaaki and hiroko have together. three of them)
all the captives (plus aoi and hiro) are pretty close postgame. ayaka will take any opportunity to be a big sister to takemichi (this usually means lighthearted bullying and stealing his poetry notebooks) and takemichi and fujiko are absolutely siblings. (sidenote i think itd be nice if fujiko got into pottery making. making manga was something she used to do with her little brother and it gets hard to do for a while but shes still creative at heart! so she makes bowls and little sculptures and stuff. she tries to throw out the ones that turn out wrong but takemichi always snags them so theres a shelf in his kitchen full of lumpy and discolored pottery)
bonus round -takemichi is 5′2″ -his birthday is february 29 -he has bpd -his favorite color is lavender -his singing voice sounds a lot like keaton henson -he calls fujiko “jiko” -the son he adopts is named genki and he calls him monkeybread or little guy and genki calls him daddo (it’s like kiddo but dad) -hes always and forever ashamed in his taste in music (its mostly bad indie folk punk stuff) -he has accidentally called daiya dad on several occasions but daiya just laughed and went with it -he accidentally called takaaki dad once and takaaki got quiet and upset so takemichi didnt do it again until a good few years after he was officially adopted -he accidentally called takaaki daiya once and Broke Down -he calls hiroko mom on purpose all the time -more than once daiya and mondo auctioned off a date with him to his fanclub and didnt tell him until the day of
these arent all my thoughts but ive been typing for. probably an hour. and this is long as hell. thank you so much for letting me infodump dkjsjhksd

so I'm going through 02 subs to get a better idea and track how takeru feels about ken post-kaiser
interesting is that in ep25, takeru says to miyako that he's opposed to ken joining the team, but unlike miyako takeru does think, like daisuke, that ken has changed and isn't the same as he used to be.
it's interesting that he's opposed to ken joining the team but also thinks ken has changed.
this makes him and daisuke the only ones who (consciously) think ken had changed at this point. miyako deep down feels that ken has changed but she wrestles with that feeling throughout the episode. hikari is unsure and wants to wait and watch him more, and iori is steadfast about his feelings.
if takeru thinks ken has changed, then why is he opposed to ken joining them?
it doesn't seem to be about holding a grudge or being unable to forgive him. the way takeru says that he's against ken joining the team is interesting, too. kind of soft and like maybe he’s not sure how miyako feels ? I don't know how to describe it. its not like iori's passionate no; and hikari's answer isn't so much that she's opposed to ken joining as it is she doesn't know yet. like, he’s committed to his position unlike Hikari, but he’s not as angry or intense about it like Iori? as in like, he has reasons, but they’re not reasons of like, anger? idk. and we don’t really get to hear why he’s against it, either. hikari’s unsure of ken’s intentions, iori can’t forgive ken for all the digimon he’s hurt, and miyako is uncomfortable that  ken killed the digimon which makes her question if she can say he’s really changed. but takeru doesn’t really express why he’s opposed to ken joining the team, just that he is.  it’s also kind of interesting that takeru is the only one we don’t see daisuke trying to convince one-on-one.
is takeru against it bc he thinks ken needs more time before being ready to team up? bc he thinks the team needs more time before teaming up with ken (like, the teamwork wouldn't be good bc of how iori's feeling, for example )? something else?
what's even more interesting is takeru overlooking ken and daisuke's conversation. to me it looks like daisuke caught ken on kens way home from school, in tamachi. if it was in tamachi, why was takeru there?? did he follow daisuke? did he want to talk to ken himself? did he just want to observe ken? bc like the way takeru is posed, it kind of looks like he unintentionally saw them on his way home, but that doesn’t make sense if he’s in tamachi; also, he’s alone and not with miyako or iori. so why was takeru in tamachi?
and what takeru says is interesting, too. I actually originally didn't get that he was referring to ken when he said it; I thought he was referring to daisuke (bc patamon was talking about daisuke) and I was kind of confused until I saw somewhere else  contextualizing it as re:ken.
takeru says that [ken] doesn't seem to see things the way he used to but he looks determined, and he wonders what he's thinking.
[ EDIT: actually, now i do think he’s talking about Daisuke. his use of [demo] implies this statement is connected to his earlier one, which is him agreeing with Patamon that Daisuke is working hard. group this with the focus on Daisuke from Takeru’s focal point in the shot makes it seem he is talking about Daisuke when he says that he doesn’t seem to see things the way he used to. aaah im confused again ]
it then seems like takeru calls miyako afterwards?? as like a result of what he saw, to which we hear miyako say 'anyway I understand what daisuke was trying to say' before hanging up. and I'm like interested in why takeru made that phone call and what he said? like. he's opposed to ken joining the team, so he probably wasn't calling to try to persuade her ('like maybe we should give him a chance?'). but he does think ken has changed, which he thinks in previous scene with miyako and reiterates after watching daisuke and ken, so was he calling miyako because he felt like he should tell her that maybe ken has changed, irrelevant to if he should join the team? it's just... so interesting ...
and like. a lot of the kids hang ups are that ken seemingly killed an enemy digimon. but takeru was with daisuke in being resolved to kill the golemon if they had to in this episode, so I doubt takeru was opposed to ken joining the team bc of that.
in ep26 when daisuke is talking about understanding ken’s heart because  of his crest, takeru says that  daisuke ‘may be able to understand it but I don't really get it' and the way he says it is...interesting? like it’s not something he’s happy about, that he doesn’t get it.i really wish i could hear/know the actual words he’s saying, but the music is kind of too loud when he says the ‘but i don’t really get it’. following the subs, takeru is basically saying ‘daisuke may be able to understand ken’s heart, but i don’t really get it’.  basically, takeru does believe that ken has changed (like daisuke has said) but doesn’t understand ken’s heart.
[EDIT: I think I figured out what Takeru is saying at the second part -- ‘boku ni wa, chotto pintokonai na’ which is accurately represented by the sub ‘I don’t really get it’. pintokonai is the negative form of pintokuru, which is translated as ‘get’ and also means ‘know intuitively’. this is probably a further hint at the jogress between ken and daisuke. but good to note.]
and when daisuke says that kens trying hard in his own way, takeru replies that he just hopes ken isn't doing it to satisfy himself (just to ease his guilt). takeru doesn't say this angrily or bitterly. he seems to like genuinely mean it but also is not sure that's not what kens doing? maybe even a little sad? maybe? and they have takeru looking back while the other three are a distant behind him looking forward, indicating a sort of moment with daisuke and takeru in regards to ken. they’re the only two still looking at ken, while the others are walking on.
ive looked a little more into it and what takeru says is “sono ganbari ga ... jiko manzoku de owaranakereba ii kedo ne” or iikedo(ne) i’ve seen them both ways. now the ‘kereba’ usually means that it’s a (provisional?) conditional form and the na means it’s negative, and they’re attached to the owaru, which means ‘to end/finish’. so it’s basically ‘if [it] doesn’t end’ -- basically if i understand correctly i think the sentence can also be translated at ‘it’s good, if that hard work doesn’t end with/in self-satisfaction’ or ‘if that hard work (...) doesn’t end with/in self-satisfaction, it’s good’, or even ‘that hard work is good unless it ends with/in self-satisfaction’. i have seen ‘ii kedo ne’ translated as ‘i hope/wish’ in certain contexts but the use of the (provisional) conditional form, i think, is lost using that equivalent. like, the nuance, maybe? idk its hard for me to say because i’m not japanese nor am i remotely fluent. wikipedia says that this form is used “In conditionals where the emphasis rests more on the condition than the result”, and like the overall meaning is basically the same with ‘i just hope that effort isn’t just to satisfy himself’ because the emphasis is on the condition of ‘(not) doing it for self-satisfaction’ and both suggest takeru’s unsure on if ken’s currently meeting those conditions, but idk i think ‘i just hope that effort isn’t just to satisfy himself’ can possibly come off a bit more negative/pessimistic/idk ? im probably overdoing. i just thought it was interesting
also the way takeru comes up with the recon plan in ep28 is very comprise/find a solution we're all happy with - y, for a lack of better words, which will kind of come up again at the end of the episode. hikari and miyako think it's a bad idea to go into the house bc it's almost def a trap. takeru & ken are aware it's probably a trap but they and daisuke think it's best to go in bc there's not really any other choice, but ken wants to go in alone so the others don't get involved/hurt, and daisuke is against ken going in there alone; I don't remember iori's initial opinion.
takeru then suggests that 'how about daisuke-Kun, Ichijouji-kun, and I go in to check it out first'. iori wants to go too, whether to pay back ken, to keep an eye on him, or because he doesn't want to feel like he owes ken anything by relying on him for this, and takeru voluntarily stays behind so miyako and hikari aren't alone.
Takeru's done this before in ep19, which comes off a problematically sexist, and im not sayin it isn't, but I'm wondering if it's more about numbers to him? like, it's not safe to leave the two of them behind not bc they're girls but bc it's just two of them, and three is a better number ? especially when you're on a recon/sneaky mission which was sort of the case in ep19 and this one, you want fewer numbers to avoid getting noticed. I'd have to go back and pay attention to see if that's consistent or if it really is just sexism. (hikari and miyako leave daisuke alone in ep19 which flies in the face of the number strategy, but that doesn't really shed light on Takeru's motivations; tho regardless that was kind of a messed up thing to do re:daisuke?) bc like. it seems likely /really/ sexist to assume the youngest should be responsible for the two girls just bc he's a boy, especially when one of the girls is the oldest member.
then ep29, when iori is hesitant to destroy archnemon, ,ken says that if that’s how it is to leave it to him so they don’t have to be the ones to defeat/kill her. takeru then comes in with ‘don’t try to act cool!’ (also used to me show off, try to impress, etc) and it’s..interesting. there’s like...emotion in his voice but like...it’s not strong anger/hatred or something..i don’t know how to describe it tho. he then goes and says ‘how about we find some place to temporarily imprison her?’
so what does the ‘don’t try to act cool’ refer to?
it was said in response to ken offering to kill archnemon so the other kids didn’t have to. takeru also responds with a (temporary) solution, a sort of compromise, before they have to rush to decisions. the digimon think they have to kill archnemon bc she will not stop. iori is vocally uncomfortable/against that. (miyako doesn’t say anything, but she has been shown to have the same feelings as iori on the matter; hikari has been shown to be reluctant to kill but accepting of the fact that sometimes its the only choice; daisuke and takeru are both for it if it comes to that). ken wants to be the one to kill archnemon so the other kids dont have to. so takeru’s solution here is let’s find a place to imprison her for now, and we can decide what to do then.
takeru probably isn’t protesting the fact that ken thinks killing archnemon is the answer first in itself. like i said before, takeru was completely onboard with killing the golemon with daisuke if it came to that. so what does he find objectionable in what ken proposed? what is it that takeru is objecting against when he tells ken not to act cool?
i think it may be referring to ken being willing to be the one to bear the sin, so to speak. in other words, ken’s sort of martyr complex motivated by his guilt . like, in a ‘don’t do this to satisfy your guilt complex’. he doesn’t find the proposed action objectionable but the motivation, which is part of why he proposes to delay making a hard decision on archnemon’s fate, so ken doesn’t do it just because he feels like he has to be the one to do it, because of his guilt or masochism. if that makes sense. i think it sort of ties into what takeru was saying back in episode 26, about how he hopes ken’s hard work isn’t for self-satisfaction (to satisfy his guilt).
in episode 30, all the kids are disappointed that iori and ken aren’t getting along, which seems to mean that the rest of the kids at this point aren’t against ken being on the team anymore. hikari makes a comment about ‘i cant say i don’t know how iori-kun feels, but...’, implying that she personally still has some reservations about ken, but isnt against him being on the team. this also implies that takeru is no longer opposed to ken being on the team. so between ep25 and ep30, takeru is no longer opposed to ken being on the team.
also takeru looks noticeably mad after archnemon and mummon escape at the end of ep29 and speaks pretty angrily when he asks them ‘what do you want’ when they show up in ep30, and that could be in response to archnemon saying in episode 29 that her life’s purpose is for destruction. the blackwargreymon arc goes over how takeru feels about that kind of motivation.
i still have to go over the destiny stones arc before i can make a proper analysis of takeru’s perspective but so far from what i’ve gather, i think takeru’s main concern is regarding ken’s motivations (re:his guilt). takeru believes that ken has changed and is also not against killing digimon if it comes to that, so those can’t be the reasons he was opposed to ken joining the team. and the few comments he makes in regards to his thoughts re:ken seem to be connected by that idea (his motives).
‘you may be able to understand [ken’s heart], but i still don't really get it/know intuitively.’
‘ i just hope that effort isn't just to satisfy himself’/’it’s good, if that hard work doesn’t end with/in his self-satisfaction'
‘don’t try to act  cool!’ in response to ‘if that’s how it is, then let me be the one to do it. you guys don’t have to be the ones to take him down (ie kill)’
i’m curious to see how that carries over to the destiny stones arc and the resolution. i remember yamato drawing a parallel to iori about takeru and ken feeling the same way about those who use powers of darkness for destruction, and i recall ken saying that those who do so are ‘unforgivable’, the same word takeru used back in ep20, i think, to refer to kimeramon and the same word takeru uses in the destiny stones arc; i’ll have to note if takeru has a reaction to ken saying that, and if that has any significance -- ken being motivated not just by his guilt but by righteous indignant anger.
something else interesting to note is that takeru and daisuke seem to have similar feelings about ken -- that he’s changed and that it’s not a good thing that he seems to be motivated by guilt (Daisuke’s iconic ‘live’ (pre)jogress speech). a big difference is, though, that daisuke reaches out to ken, and takeru doesn’t.
part of that is because daisuke is a really earnest guy, for lack of a better word. i’m also wondering if the embarrassment takeru says he feels in that drama cd regarding losing it and attacking ken has anything to do with takeru not reaching out to him? i think the first time takeru really ‘reaches out’ to ken is when takeru offers ken the food at that restaurant at the end of ep37, or maybe even earlier in that episode when takeru says that thing about ‘not losing the light inside of you’ in response to/to refute ken’s statement regarding the darkness; the next episode having takeru gladly accept ken’s invitation to his party. but like i said, i need to watch the episodes and observe before i can actually say anything.
i’m just really interesting in understanding takeru’s feelings regarding ken post-kaiser, because i feel like it’s a little vaguer than the others are? at least to me. so im finding this all interesting.
so, the big questions for me:
why is takeru opposed to ken joining the team?
why was takeru in tamachi? (if he was)
why did takeru call miyako? (if it was him)
why was takeru no longer opposed to ken joining the team by ep30?
what did takeru mean when he told ken to not act cool?
as i’ve shown i have some ideas, but hopefully after this watchthrough i’ll have a better understanding or something.
also there’s a good chance i mislabeled an episode or several so im apologizing now if i missed any
EDIT: I got to the Christmas episode, wrote my notes, so I’ll be able to finish the analysis pretty soon ! (some of) my preliminary thoughts on this part are basically:
ken probably thinks takeru dislikes him until the qinglongmon episode
takeru probably doesn’t realize that ken probably thinks he dislikes him until around the qinglongmon episode
this may be related to takeru not really realizing how private/reserved he is about his inner feelings/thoughts and how it comes off
among other things. ep 34 and 35 are pretty meaty which is why it's taking a while to get my thoughts together in a semi-coherent manner

I truly don't get how people can watch Jk put half of Jm's ear on his mouth like it's no biggie and like he does it all the time, and know that he also did a video that has Jm as a protagonist and has a song from an openly gay artist as bg music and translate that into Jiko*k are bros and Taeko*k are dating because they danced on an MV. Anon I'm sorry but I'm cackling here 😂
I don’t even know, because if my man wrapped his lips around someone else’s ear, center stage at a sold out concert or anywhere really, he’d have some explaining to do. If he made a vacation video on a “friend trip” that looked like GCF Tokyo or on a work trip like GCF Saipan, he’d been packing his bags.
I can’t even imagine Tae forgiving JK for all that, especially since it involves his best friend...there’s no way...
