VtM Fangfest 2024 Prompt 3: The High Priestess
Hello! Here is my third fic for Fangfest 2024 :)
All my fics will be about characters that are previously established, so you might not have context for everything mentioned or hinted at within :( Feel free to reach out to ask I love explaining!
I've never really posted my writing before so be kind!
my first fic is here
my second fic is here
This fic is about a Hecata from the game I am the storyteller for, Blood and Silicon, which has its own blog run by the player @chiss-ticism here: @sanguineasylum. It's a shorter one but hope you like it!
Priestess
Ripping the cloth into strips, Fiorella carefully soaked each. One in melted wax - for binding. One in wine - for ancestral power. One in blood - for pain.
The fanged skull the Nosferatu Vic had provided to her was carefully placed in the center of a stone table. She wrapped it slowly in the cloth, and began chanting as she lit candles at each corner of the table.
“Flagello del Sangue. Guai a coloro che non ubbidiscono. Guai a coloro che lo fanno.” Her voice was her own, at first, but soon gained an unearthly quality.
The wine and the blood turned black, and the wax solidified unnaturally quickly. The candles went out, and Fiorella heard a piercing scream.
She smiled at first as the scream raised in intensity. Soon though, there was a chorus of screams - not just one voice.
“Silence now.” Fiorella spoke softly.
The screams obeyed.
“Manifest.” Now she practically whispered.
The skull vibrated as the cloth wrapped over it shifted, revealing bone once again, then contorted into a shroud, or perhaps a veil. The empty eye sockets glowed yellow and cried blood.
Sometimes the skulls became still, but not this one. It was practically shaking now.
Fiorella laughed - she loved it when they resisted her. Even better, it already felt fear.
“Who are you?”
The skull spoke in a pained yelp. “I was lost.”
“Clearly. The Nosferatu found you deep within their warren. Do tell me, what did you find there?”
“Death.”
Fiorella rolled her eyes. “Ah, you’re purposefully obtuse.” She pinned the rattling skull to the table with one of her long manicured nails. One finger was enough to make it still; enough to make it scream. “The time for that is long past.”
She let it suffer.
When she removed her nail, the skull remained still, but the crying blood streamed down the empty sockets. “Let’s try again. What did you find in there?”
“The wight. Their wight! The Nosferatu, they’re hiding it. It’s theirs.”
She smiled and spoke sensually, practically purring. “Are they now?” She picked up a candle, and relit it, holding it over the skull.
The wax slowly began melting. “This will even hurt more,” her voice took on a singing, lilting quality, “you might want to re-con-si-der.”
The skull whispered, haltingly. “She was mine. Not theirs.”
Fiorella’s face dropped from her devilish grin to stone. “Correct. Continue.” This one had broken disappointingly quickly. She continued holding the candle above the skull.
“She was to return to me that night, but my childe, oh my childe… she never returned to my haven.”
Fiorella spoke. “You drove her to insanity, and failed to track her down.”
“I couldn’t save her.”
“Save her? You were her sire. You killed her, and then it seems drove her to madness.”
The skull was silent; Fiorella continued.
“The Nosferatu already know what you did. Forcing a fledgling to coverup her failure by murdering her family? Trite, and foolish. Did you really expect her sanity to remain intact after what you put her through?”
The wax dripped onto the skull - screams once again. Fiorella shoved the rest of the still-lit candle into the skull’s mouth, muffling it.
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a necklace. Once it became visible, the skull shook once again.
“Recognize this? It does appear you do. It’s hers.”
She leaned over the table and let the necklace hang off of an extended finger, rocking it slightly.
“I could draw forth your your poor, poor fledgling as well. But you’ll instead, if you stay on your best behavior. We’ll talk again later. You are quite a prize.”

orchid and ivy, please? <3
orchid ⇢ what’s a song you consider to be perfect?
new dawn fades by joy division and downbound train by bruce springsteen 💓 and secret third answer which is priestess by pumarosa !!
ivy ⇢ what are your ‘tells’ for your emotions and moods? how can someone tell you’re happy, annoyed, upset or tired?
i've been told i have expressive hands! i like to try and be somewhat reserved in my expressions (and i also tend to think i'm smiling when i'm not) but i am also a fidgety person, so i think it comes out that way. to the point i keep my hands behind my back sometimes at work 😭 no secret insights, coworkers!

let your spotify predict your 2024! shuffle your on repeat playlist, and the first twelve songs represent your 2024
I am using my repeat rewind playlist instead because this past week I've been on the more emo side of my taste and it was kind of depressing as far as predictions go. like velodrome by dessa and hollow by cloudeater and tired as fuck by the staves. SO. this is less depressing. choosing a better story.
January - When I'm Gone - Phil Ochs
so I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here. turning towards life and action in January.
February - Girls Against God - Florence + the Machine
well. not only are we turning towards life and action, we're fighting god. and asking people if they want to talk about our intimacy issues.
March - Priestess - Pumarosa
March IS a dancing month! also check out the intimacy between the singer and her subject here. month of secrets held between two people??
April - Glass - Blood Cultures
this one doesn't really have lyrics but it's a BOP. I associate this song with travel and dancing and nighttime. more dancing!
May - Beyond The Clouds - The Poppy Family
for the sun shines for those who look beyond the clouds... very sort of romantic quiet alonetime in the sun. daytime driving song. a peaceful and lovely month!
June - Altitude - Eliot Moss
this is a blues dancing song to me. it's sort of a bleak one. month of don't look down, don't look down, i know you want me to. it goes away if you want it to, but you smile and you stay because you want it !
July - Drunk Walk Home - Mitski
very July sort of song. perhaps I quit my job? or I have a little breakup. whatever it is, there's some catharsis from whatever sort of strain was happening in June.
August - True Love Will Find You In The End - Daniel Johnston
this is a promise with a catch. only if you're looking can it find you. some sort of new vulnerability, with or without love found-- might not be the end. we'll see!
September - Rock Star - Hole
hmm. some angst in september, but in a hot fun grunge rebel way.
October - Kill Me - indigo De Souza
yeah it's like that sometimes. distance between me and someone. irish goodbye from some party or other.
November - Geyser - Mitski
oh i see. it's about my relationship with myself again. whatever was going on with de souza in october gets metabolized and turned into strength. regular sort of cycle tbh.
December - Herr Mannelig - Garmarna
well, either i do some sort of ritual or i finally visit scandanavia? good winter solstice song. i just looked it up and apparently it's about a mountain troll who proposes to a young christian man who refuses her. fun!
tagging @walcutt @premiumgelato @unloneliest @adhdnarut0, anyone else who wants to try!

cd player and nail polish! :)
[CD player] which song(s) do you turn to to imagine your dream self?
ooooh this is a tough one, i don't really know to what capacity i have a dream self. that being said, there is something about priestess by pumarosa that resonates with me in a way no other song seems to!
[nail polish] what are your colours for this upcoming season?
my colours are always quite similar, lots of soft greens and browns and generally muted earthy colours. because its summer, i will also be wearing a lot of white tops + trainers with various jean accents, so white and lighter blues are also going to be a common combination!
i don't strictly follow colour palettes, but i do lean towards my designated palette which is soft autumn

Who made you? Who made you so clear and strong Cut from clay and stone? Electricity flows through your spine and it shows In the night when we're alone It must be hard, you're being so statuesque People just wanna look But you put all these things back to bed when You kick off your shoes
When, priestess, priestess You dance, you dance, you dance When, priestess, priestess You dance, you dance, you dance
I think the Spanish version is even better.
