"It befell in the days before SIN SHIAN, the Living God, that a proud ruler reigned over the City of Asrathtah. They bore the name of an ancient clan whose name eludes history, and learned ones know only their personal name, that which they ruled with. And that name was Kasir.

Now Kasir desired the land called Noachis by men, which in those days was ruled by a young sovereign, who took the name Hasath of Hakad upon their coronation. When the old and decrepit ruler of Noachis had died, Kasir had been called the Princess of that land, because many thought they would inherit it. But when the council of clans met, they overlooked them. And jealousy and resentment grew greatly in their soul.

So did Kasir decide to journey to the seer's temple near the sea. Kasir carried a great retinue before them and it included their four thralls, their bonded mates, their close warriors and their honor guard, and even two of their flesh-heirs. One bore the child-name of Hemva, "the Reddish", and the other bore the child-name of Amaksat, "the Quick-running." And Kasir loved Hemva, their first-born, with all their heart, and wished for the child to one day rule after them.

After forty passes of Deimos, Kasir and their retinue arrived at a great temple which now rests under the seas of sand. And a group of servants were building a statue to the new ruler of Noachis. Kasir bid their warriors to drive them out into the sand, and tore the statue to the ground. The warriors burned the statue in a ritual. They did not honor the seers nor pay them in homage.

And Kasir took upon the face of a High Ruler, and said upon the Seer, "Tell me how I might steal Noachis, and show me reigning over the land."

And of the vision Kasir saw only sand and bones.

And the seer told them, "You shall reign over the land in death. When your bones sink beneath the seas of sand. When your greatest flesh heir betrays you and takes your seat. When the temple here is buried beneath the sky. When your breathen warriors feast upon you. Then shall the sand sea of Noachis be your palace."

In fury, Kasir slew the seer. Their warriors burned the temple and the remaining seers inside. Kasir rode out with their retinue. Then they returned to Asrathtah, and ruminated upon all the visions and sayings they had heard. There they built a great bonfire with the help of their servants and thralls. And Kasir wept and brought forth Hemva, and burned them upon the fire. Then did they name Amaksat as heir.

Then did years pass. Kasir raised Amaksat, grooming them for command, and making a true warrior and ruler out of them. They grew into adulthood, and took the name of Masatkah. In time, Kasir did make war upon Hasath, the High Ruler of Noachis. At the final battle, in the midst of the sand sea beneath the temple and across from their home city, Kasir slew Hasath on the field of battle and cheered. For a pass of Phobos, Kasir wore a crown.

Once Phobos set, a mighty shadow grew upon the sky, a shadow which howled the nightmares of the mind and seeped into the soul. Dust swirled upon the surface of the sand sea. The landscape shifted. Puddles of quickstand formed in the desert. Masatkah took their armies and Kasir's, and confronted them at their royal pavillion.

There some words were said, lost forever. Masatkah pulled their sword from a scabbard and slashed across their flesh-parent's face. Blinded, Kasir wept blood and knelt in the sand. Their flesh-heir took the crown of Noachis and left them there. Thereafter did Masatkah become High Ruler. They gathered all the banners of the land and returned to Asrathtah, which they declared their capital. And more, they renamed the city Hemva Naro, the City of Hemva.

It is said Kasir lived on, travelling with a few thralls and loyal soldiers, half a shade. Blind and lame, they circled the old sand sea for the remainder of their days. When they could no longer walk, their brethren soldiers slew them, and feasted upon the marrow of their bones. -Translation of ancient Martian legend, c. 1996.

Home Mechanic Repair Stand Comparisons

Nowadays, I research everything online before buying anything. This is how I researched my wedding suit. It helped me to understand all possible materials (you want 100% wool!). When I was researching the best home mechanic stand for cleaning and general maintenance of mountain bikes, I read all four reviews I could find. Below is a summary of the information I gleaned from various reviews. None of the repair stands have been tested by me. These notes were compiled from reviews by multiple people online.

Quickstand Stand for Spin Doctor

Strengths:

Work that is very affordable.

Rubberized parts that touch the bike don't scratch it.

It is lightweight and small, and can be transported easily if the base is removed.

Disadvantages:

Deshler's Quality Collision Repairs This is not the right place to be if you are going to do something major.

It holds the bike up so it won't work well with a bent chain stay, disc breaks, or if the chain and seat are too close together.

It is easy to scratch and not very stable.

Summary: The Spin Doctor Quickstand can be used to repair your bike for a very low price. The Quickstand supports the bike using the seat and chainstays. It can also lift the rear wheel off of the ground to allow for minor cleaning or maintenance. This stand is ideal for those who have a fairly standard frame and are concerned about their budget. This stand is not a good choice if quality is your priority. The price was the main reason for all of the positive reviews I've read. They didn't do anything special. It was a cheap stand that worked well enough to get a lot of negative reviews.

Spin Doctor Pro - G3 Work Stand

Strengths:

Stable, robust and sturdy

It is quick and easy to put together and folds up easily for storage.

You can hold your bike at different heights.

The clamp is simple to use and versatile.

It has a small parts container.

Advantages

It is not as good quality as a Park Tool Stand, so if Parks are your first choice, it may disappoint you.

Some people found it too heavy. Others were happy with it.

It could prove problematic for long term use due to the plastic washers and plastic teeth on the adjuster locks, which some reviewers believed had the potential of wearing down.

If you do a lot of heavy wrenching, or have a really heavy bike that isn't placed correctly, it may wobble a little.

Summary: The Spin Doctor Pro G3 Work Stand may not be the best or worst home mechanic stand, but it is a good option. The Spin Doctor Pro G3 Work Stand will keep your bike in place and at a reasonable price. You might want something of slightly higher quality if you are looking for long-term use or heavy-duty repairs.

Ultimate Pro Work Stand

Strengths:

Stable and sturdy.

It is quick and simple to set it up.

It can be folded up and put away.

You can hold your bike at different heights.

You can use a knob to quickly release the clamping action.

Disadvantages:

It is not the most expensive (on my list).

Paint easily scratches

With a large mountain bike, it is not very stable.

Summary: The Ultimate Pro Work Stand for Home Mechanics is a high quality, reliable bike stand. Although it isn't very popular, I couldn't find any reviews. However, most people who have owned it were satisfied with it. You might need a heavier duty stand if your mountain bike is very large.

Park Tool PCS-10 DIY Home Mechanics Repair Stand

Advantages:

Strong, durable and stable.

You can hold the bike at various heights.

Quick release clamp that is easy to use

Excellently designed.

It can be folded up and stored away quickly.

Height adjustment with quick release

It is easy to assemble.

Disadvantages:

Park Tool's website contains assembly instructions, but not the product.

Summary: The Park Tool PCS-10 was a popular stand that received the most positive online reviews and had the fewest negative comments of all the four other work stands. I searched for negative comments, but found only the following. Excellent quality for all home mechanics.

Frozen in time

Growing up one of my biggest fears was getting stuck in quickstand. I would have nightmares about being pulled into the center of earth while everyone around me is trying to give me their hands but I am not able to move fast enough to grab on to anything. But that almost never happens. Maybe I focused on the wrong thing, the wrong fear. I might have been wrong about the actual event causing my fear but I was right about the feeling that comes with it. The difference with reality is no one is giving you their hand to pull you out because no one has even noticed your sinking in the first place. 

I don’t want it to sound like I am putting the blame on anybody else. I know that the only person I can blame is the person that stares back at me in the every mirror I pass by, no matter how hard I try to avoid them. I have made every choice that has lead me to where I am right now. All because I felt like I had something to prove. 

So here I am, 26 years old. I have the degree, the job, the title, and the little rush of gratification I get whenever someone from my past asks me what I do for a living. But that's all it is, a little rush. It's there for a second in time but then it’s gone. That person from my past goes back to whatever they were doing, probably already forgotten about our quick encounter, and I go back to my parents house where I will be engulfed by childhood memories and quicksand.

This is helping me flesh out the story a lot better ty - and the reason Outrealm hopping Robin isn't getting frozen is bc they aren't from that Outrealm. I sorta saw it as "You aren't from here therefore you aren't affected" - it's a bit difficult to explain, but I saw it as the time-freezing happened in one go - if you aren't affected, then you aren't affected, and entering an already frozen area does not mean you'll be frozen. Does that make sense or no? ;w;

I’m really glad it’s helping!  Story development like this is something I really enjoy, personally, so I’m happy that I can be a sounding board!

That does make perfect sense though ovo I wasn’t sure what kind of time freeze it was, whether it was like a sudden stop to everything currently present (therefore not affecting things that come in) or a “trap” area where anything that comes in gets stuck too (like proverbial quickstand).  It does, however, bring up the question of how much Robin can affect things in a frozen area – are they somehow able to undo the effect on things?  Or are Robins frozen in those Outrealms doomed, and they’re effectively racing against time to save as many as they can before Naga sets her sights on that realm and its vessel?
