Personally, I saw the clock as fitting due to the chronovens' time-related abilities, and it's such a coincidence that there's exactly 12 of them

a little while back I managed to snag a commission from the incredible and talented and wonderful @merry-harlowe of my hunter and Lea from @northern-passage and it just arrived and I am. INCADESCENT. screaming and crying about Lea and Ríonach ALWAYS.

- Her MBTI is ISFJ-T

- She's left-handed

- She doesn't require sleep, but naps for a total of three hours as she knows that she needs to rest if she wants to combat her occasional writer's block

- She hardly displays anger, not because she doesn't experience it but because she keeps it bottled deep inside of her

- Her favourite season is autumn

- Apart from Hana and Tommy, anyone else that she considers as family are long dead

- Her first name is to showcase her dignified personality (at a glance) all while remaining true to her Irish ancestry. Her surname is to showcase the Irish inspiration

Was sitting, thinking daemon thoughts, and anyway here’s a breakdown of how the various daemons of characters I actually vaguely work with fight.

Bradach- gets his own section because as a foot and a half long lizard, he really doesn’t get involved in any fights Helen is in, lacking the right combination of speed, maneuverability, and power suitable for actually fighting most other daemons

Celio, Raelene- in the same category but for wildly different reasons- Celio is literally a bombardier beetle, he’s not actively fighting shit, while Raelene is the laziest daemon to have ever lived and so isn’t actively fighting shit if she can help it, but, Celio does have the advantage of the whole bombardier portion of that and so acts to keep fuckers from getting too close to Elena in a fight, since nobody wants a face full of essentially boiling acid, and while she’s not going to go over and try to take a chunk out of you, Raelene still has a mean bite and isn’t afraid to use it on anybody who gets too close, daemon or no- as such both take on the role, for the most part, of specifically guarding their other half’s flank

Deana, Cassiopeia, Llyr, Ríonach, Anan, Teresa, Monarch, Gemma- why yes this is the vast majority of these fuckers and yes the existence of this section alone was almost enough for me not to make this damn post. All of the above share something very important in common- they’re all large enough and strong enough to get into the thick of things and get into direct head-to-head combat with most other daemons, these are the ones who go for the throat or knock you around as their typical strategy

Ruth- also gets her own spot, because as a mid-sized bird rather than a big fucker like Llyr, her style is a bit different- she prefers to stay out of the way, acting more as a lookout or spotter for Mike, but is more than willing to make harsh attacks of opportunity, dropping on smaller daemons or greatly larger ones and using her long, sharp beak to take out one or more chunks of flesh before fleeing back into the sky; never anything that’ll directly kill, but always with the intent of injuring them enough to drop out of or abandon the fight

Rufus, Annelie- are harriers through and through, Annelie has a lot of experience with other styles of combat due to how long she spent Unsettled and how much shit she and Kev got into over that time, but Settled she follows in Rufus’s footsteps, both are small compared to most of the other daemons mentioned, very fast and maneuverable, and while they can’t get the same power behind them as the others they use this to their advantage to get in a variety of weaker strikes to keep their enemy off balance, hinder their movements, Rufus will go for eyes, and Annelie tends to take advantage of the wider distance she can get from Kevin to herd opposing daemons from their own other halves, straining their bond to she and Kev’s advantage

Jubilation, Susi- are the largest of the lot, Susi by several hundred pounds and Jubilation by just degrees of magnitude, but are the sort to avoid actually fighting as much as possible, both instead prefer to use their bulk to clear space when they can, scattering opponents by simply crashing into the space they occupy, thereby preventing their allies from being ganged up on- when they do have to actually fight, however, their status as large predators is unmistakable, throwing their great weight around, tossing opponents like ragdolls, and easily chasing them down to a degree that’s rarely expected- Jubilation is restricted to the water, preferably deep water, but they’re Seperated from Devin and therefor don’t have a limit on the distance they can put between them like most daemons do, and while Susi can’t go especially far from Argit, they’re large enough for him to ride and ecnoel are far better climbers than one would assume at initial glance and therefor have an easy time following opponents that think they can evade them by heading up near anything climbable

I am working on a character who happens to be a badass, all-muscle redheaded ancient Celtic werewolf lady... I wanna give her an epic name... do you have any suggestions?

I probably have far more than you need 😂 obviously “Celtic” can apply to many different places and cultures, but being Irish my expertise is with Irish names, so my suggestions will all be Irish. if anyone else wants to chip in with other names feel free, but I figure I’ll have enough to keep me going just with the Irish ones lol. ancient Irish names tend to be super impressive in terms of length, too, so have fun with that. it was also common to receive a name based on an obvious physical quality (beautiful, red-haired, tall, etc) or a quality you had/your parents hoped you’d have, so there’s lots of options to choose from here.

anyway, onto some Names™:

Aodhamair [ey-mir] -- meaning fire.

Aodhnait [ey-nit] -- meaning little fire.

Aoife [ee-fah] -- meaning radiant, beautiful.

Eimear [emer] -- in mythology, Eimear was the wife of Cúchulainn, perhaps the most famous of Ireland’s mythological warriors.

Éadaoin [ade-een] -- in mythology, one of the Tuatha Dé Danann, and said to be the most beautiful woman in Ireland.

Eibhlín [eye-leen] [ev-leen] -- Irish form of Eileen or Evelyn, meaning radiance.

Fachtna [fokt-na] -- meaning malicious, hostile.

Fianait [fee-nit] -- meaning little deer or wild creature.

Gráinne [grawn-yeh] -- could come from a word meaning grain, could also mean she who inspires terror; famously associated with Gráinne Ní Mháille, leader of a clan of sea-faring raiders (pirates, essentially), though if your story is set in ancient times it would be before this Gráinne’s time (?1530-?1600). still, a name with good warrior and badass lady associations.

Lasairíona [loh-ser-ee-on-ah] -- meaning flame, fire of wine.

Macha [mok-ah] -- in mythology, the goddess of sovereignty, often also described as a goddess of war.

Mór [more] -- meaning tall, great.

Niamh [neev] -- originally a term for a goddess, meaning radiance, brightness.

Ríonach [ree-na] -- meaning queenly.

Ruan [roo-an] -- meaning red.

Treise [tresh-eh] -- meaning strength.

these are all old names/old versions of the name, so they should all be fitting for ancient times!

The Nine Divine - Worldbuilding 1/??? 

Once, long before now, the Divine were human. Supposedly ordinary people with extraordinary fates. Upon their death, they came into their Divine power. They have walked on earth for centuries, living among the common people, surrounded by their worshippers. Hidden behind masks and secret identities. Vulir & Ríonach . Life and death respectively. Life partners in their Divine life. King and Queen in a Divine Pantheon ruled by none. 

Maeve & Lorcán . The reaper of souls and the harbinger of destruction. Banished and locked away for crimes against the world and the Divine Pantheon. 

Daleka & Cathán . The Divine of Battle and War. Siblings whose entire Fate revolves around war and death. And nothing beats the thrill of the kill.

Shaye . Guardian of the forest and wildlife. Those who tresspass or poach beware, They give back a thousandfold.

Muriel . Keeper of the Deep. If you come upon an uninviting sea, sacrifice to Muriel for safe passage. She is known for her kind heart.

The Three Eyed . Divine without a name, the keeper of the past, present and future. 

The Three Sisters . Acolytes of The Three Eyed. Once mage’s who worshipped The Three Eyed, now his eternal servants. One tainted by the past, one fiercly protective of the present and one blind to all but the future.
