Ford CEO arrived at Red Bull pitch meeting in a Perez cap Horner | 2023 F1 season
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says it became clear early in their negotiations with Ford how keen the American car-making giant was to return to Formula 1 with them. Ford will assist Red Bull in developing the new power units which will be raced in F1 from 2026. The deal was agreed late last year and announced at the team’s launch in February. Horner recalled his initial meeting with Ford CEO Jim Farley, who arrived wearing a Red Bull driver cap. “It really started in the autumn of last year,” Horner told a Financial Times conference. “Everything happened very quickly because I heard that Ford were contemplating a re-entry into Formula 1 and we were looking for a partner in this new project for the engine that we’re producing for 2026. So on the way to to Brazil, I went via Detroit. I met Bill Ford and and Jim Farley. “I suppose when Jim walked in, in a Sergio Perez cap, to the first meeting, it felt like it was going to get off to a good start.” The F1 team and automaker quickly decided they were well-placed to work together, said Horner. “We had a great meeting. Sometimes you can tell just from the get-go if the feeling is right. Ford were keen to come back into the sport and were impressed with what we’re doing. “They had technology that we could only only dream about [because of] their whole shift towards electrification and the investment that they’re making, so for us it was very natural, a very easy partnership to bring together. And already we’re seeing some of the some of the fruits of that in the engine development that we’re conducting.” Red Bull established its own engine design and production facility in 2021 after Honda, which developed its current power units, announced its plans to leave F1. The new Red Bull Powertrains division has begun work on their new engines for 2026, when F1 will increase the units’ electrical power generation and switch to what it calls a fully sustainable fuel. While Horner believes the team is well-placed to handle the combustion engine portion of the new power unit, he said Ford’s expertise on the electrical side will be invaluable. “Ford and Jim really came to us and said, look, you guys are the specialists, get going, get on with it and if there is anything that we can help with, we’re here to help and assist. “Making a bespoke combustion engine under Formula 1 regulations with fully sustainable fuel, that’s something that the skill set of people that we have are very confident in. But the the cell technology, which is going to represent 50% of the power of these cars moving forward, is something that that we have very little knowledge in. “So I think that’s where Ford, particularly in the electrification, are going to play a key role in helping us to deliver in 2026.” Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free 2023 F1 season Browse all 2023 F1 season articles via RaceFans - Independent Motorsport Coverage https://www.racefans.net/

F1 2021 TEAMS UPDATE
F1 2021 TEAMS DRIVER
F1 2021 TEAMS PATCH
F1 2021 TEAMS FULL
F1 2021 TEAMS DRIVER
It allowed Fernando Alonso to start second in this year’s Canadian Grand Prix! It’s not quite as potent as the Alfa Romeo in the game, but it’s not far behind, so it’s a good point to start within F1 22’s driver career while giving you a nice challenge. The A522 has a fantastic Renault engine that is very punchy and the car looks like it runs well on every track. AlpineĪlpine in real life sit fifth in the standings right now.
F1 2021 TEAMS PATCH
The current state of the F1 22 game has them ranked lower than they really should be, but no doubt a future patch will boost their performance levels. This year’s MC元6 is a bit behind the MC元5M of 2021, but in real life they still sit fourth in the standings.
F1 2021 TEAMS UPDATE
McLaren and Alpine also offer strong contenders for midfield teams in career mode, although McLaren need a bit of a performance update based on the current in-game order. They’ve made big strides in 2022 compared to the 2021 Alfa Romeo. The C42 is very well balanced, with a great power unit and with great looks to go with it. The Alfa Romeo has that potent Ferrari engine, and the 2022 chassis has shown up very well this year with a big upturn in form for the Sauber ran outfit compared to 2021. If you want to start in a top team with a slight challenge, choose Mercedes.īased on the current state of play within the game, Alfa Romeo are probably the team you want to start with if you want a strong midfield car. Mercedes should be really in a class of their own, floating between the midfield and the front of the grid. They’ve had races where the likes of McLaren and Alfa Romeo have looked faster than them. They are, on average, the third best team in 2022, but have no wins thus far and just a smattering of podiums. Mercedes are not to be discounted in F1 22. However, it is a well-balanced car that seemingly suits every track, giving you a stable platform to launch your career mode. The F1-75 looks very different to the RB18 with its bulging sidepods and deep red livery. Max Verstappen, and if you want to run right at the front, this is the car where you will find yourself looking in career mode. This year has mostly been about Charles Leclerc vs. Ferrariįerrari are also a good choice with the radical F1-75. Early unreliability issues are seemingly negated now, and in F1 22 you will find a car with plenty of downforce in the corners and a lot of grunt from the Red Bull badged Honda powertrain. The RB18 has racked up seven wins so far in 2022, with Max Verstappen taking six and Sergio Perez taking one. This year, Red Bull and their RB18 car are certainly the one to choose. For more information, check out our guides and features hub.Below, you will find the best teams to begin your career with in F1 22. Later, you can switch to Ferrari and, eventually, the top-tier teams once you’re consistently getting podium finishes.į1 2021 is available via Steam. Personally, I would suggest AlphaTauri or Alfa Romeo as a decent start for those who are familiar with racing games (especially if you’ve made custom tweaks). Try to perform admirably to improve your worth to the team. Remember, the driver that you select here will become your partner for the rest of the season. In a way, choosing the top teams will impact the challenges that you’ll face in each race. The ones with higher performance tend to expect better results. The total points that have been tallied will be active, and you’ll have to select a driver to replace.Īs for the teams themselves, you have 10 to choose from. This allows you to choose a particular race weekend to begin your actual career. That means fans might find the McLaren they drive in the game a little slower than expected. But, you can also try the Real Season Start. McLaren has been one of the best performing teams in the real 2021 season of F1 racing, but the F1 game doesn't reflect performance at the end of a season, only at the start, and it's often biased by the previous year's performance.
F1 2021 TEAMS FULL
Next, there are the usual facets like season length and the full season. If the stars align, you and your pal might end up on the same team eventually.
Contracts – You can select different teams and negotiate different contracts.
When you negotiate with another team, the second driver always follows you.
Co-op – You’ll both race for the same team as partners.
For the two-player mode, you’ve got these options: Choose your F1 team and guide them to glory throughout the official 2022 races by beginning your journey. There’s solo play (as is usual), and two-player support. Write a new chapter in a bold new era for Formula 1. Note: For more information, check out our F1 2021 guides and features hub.į1 2021: Driver Career Mode guide – Choosing the best team and starting your seasonįirst, let’s talk about the options that are available when you start F1 2021‘s Driver Career Mode. Here’s our F1 2021 Driver Career Mode guide to help you with the best team selections and starting the season. You’ll see a Real Season Start option, as well as a means of having two players progress. Driver Career Mode is back in F1 2021, and it’s got some sweet new improvements for you to try out.

Max Verstappen, Pazar günü yağmurla kısaltılmış bir Japonya Grand Prix'si kazandı - 2022 sezonunun 12. galibiyetini elde eden sürücü, ikinci FIA Formula 1 Dünya Şampiyonası unvanını güvence altına almak için ana rakibi Charles Leclerc'in geç cezası onu podyumda Sergio Pérez'in arkasına koydu.
Read the full article

With the new Ferrari wings, the DRS chord has been increased to the detriment of a smaller mainplane. But the Red Bull was a slightly more complicated car to set up, one that Max Verstappen wasn’t perfectly at ease with.įerrari modified its rear wing in Spain for a more efficient DRS when the flap was open. In the case of Ferrari, the F1-75 was at a straightline speed disadvantage compared to Red Bull. In the first phase of the year, the main focus for the teams – aside from upgrades – was troubleshooting the cars to reduce their weaknesses. This was brought in by Ferrari for the first race in Bahrain, then copied by Red Bull at Imola a month later, with almost all of the teams producing their own versions. It’s for this reason that Ferrari and Red Bull have begun to adopt similar aerodynamic solutions.Īn obvious example is the double T-tray, first introduced by Aston Martin. Their development paths have been very broad despite the limitations of the cost cap, but as expected cars have converged towards common design choices and the solutions that bring the biggest performance advantages. What the two cars do have in common is the ability to generate grip induced by the efficiency of the venturi ducts, which are housed in the lower part of the floor.īoth – especially Red Bull – have produced cars that are not sensitive to changes in ride height and that perform well even if the car is not completely sealed to the ground.īy comparison, porpoising has limited other cars, particularly the Mercedes W13 thanks to it being designed for an optimal ride-height window with a low and flat trim.Īs the 2022 season has progressed, the F1-75 and RB18 have evolved rapidly. Ferrari preferred for the air to pass above, with the famous ‘tub’ created by its scalloped bodywork. Red Bull opted for a more conventional design at the rear of the sidepods, but greatly advanced the radiator inlets to create a large air passage channel between the sidepods and the floor. The visually obvious difference was the sidepods. The initial design concepts of Ferrari and Red Bull at the start of the season featured more differences than common solutions, especially when it came to aerodynamics. The two cars have a clear performance advantage over the rest but, despite fears coming into 2022 that the prescriptive regulations would allow for very few differences between cars, Red Bull and Ferrari have produced very different interpretations of the rules – and their cars produce similar laptimes in different ways. They and sister team AlphaTauri use engines with Honda technology at present.Ferrari and Red Bull dominated the first half of the 2022 Formula 1 season, with the Ferrari F1-75 and Red Bull RB18 proving to be the best interpretations of the new ground effect technical regulations.īut despite Red Bull’s big advantage in the championship and the two cars being very different, the technical and performance gap between them is almost nothing, with only the vicissitudes of reliability, accidents and bad strategy distorting the picture. Red Bull have formed their own powertrain company at their Milton Keynes factory, hiring some key engine experts from rivals Mercedes. "But I think we're in great shape and looking forward to seeing exactly what these new regulations say on a sporting, a technical and most importantly financial basis." Where that takes us in the future if we decide to take on a partner only time will tell. We've recruited some more great talent, some more announcements coming out soon and there's some significant recruitments into the team," he added. "Red Bull powertrains is going from strength to strength. Horner said Red Bull, currently leading both Formula One championships by a comfortable margin with Max Verstappen heading for a second successive drivers' title, were strong and in a great position. That could happen in August, when the sport has its mid-season break. Porsche and Audi, another Volkswagen brand looking to enter Formula One and linked to Swiss-based Sauber who run the Alfa Romeo team, have both said they cannot proceed until the rules are confirmed. "The first actual hurdle for any new manufacturer coming in is those technical regulations for the power unit from 2026 onwards." There's the regulations to sort out, we're only at the very beginning of a process where discussions can begin. "Porsche to come into F1 would be a really positive thing but there's so many caveats to that. "I think I have said numerous times that we are engaged in constructive discussion with Porsche," he said.

2026: A new Formula One grid?
Xoxo gossip girl! Today’s news is about the whispers and theories regarding Porsche and Audi participating into the Formula One world in 2026.
Tumblr media
So let start with the basics, as we know for now the conversations are around a new type of power units for the cars, some sources said that Audi has tried to enter F1 by doing a partnership with McLaren while Porsche tried the same thing with Red Bull, but neither one of the brands have confirmed the rumors. The British news website, Reuters said, and I quote  “...decision will rest on whether Formula One follows through on its plans to switch to synthetic fuels”,  the German brand is also waiting for the electrification of the cars.
But if they enter F1, how that would be?
It's wise to remember that the power units of Formula One cars has been frozen until 2026, so Ferrari, Mercedes, Renault and Honda (Red Bull PowerTrains) will not be allowed to change their engine constructions. For now, all we have is gossip, where the VW Group will join the championship as their own team or as an engine supplier for teams that are already competing.
We will have to wait and see, for now let's stay tuned in the next race in Melbourne, the beloved city of our honey badger Daniel Ricciardo. Thanks for the attention, and drive safely <3

Mid-Week Motorsport Headlines - 17th February 2021
F1
Red Bull has confirmed that both them and their sister team, will take over the running of the Honda engine moving forwards. This is good not only for them, but also for the sport, as any risk of Red Bull pulling out would be scary for the sports future. The engine has been coming on strong in recent years, not too far behind Mercedes, although the reliability could be better.
McLaren have been the first to unveil their 2021 car, ahead of the new season, the livery has changed very little from last year, although this may not be a bad thing. The car itself is very similar, with many parts being carried over, yet we should expect that we will see more changes when the car rocks up for pre-season testing and Round 1.
Changes have been announced for the Australian Grand Prix Circuit in Melbourne, Turns 9 and 10 will be altered to remove the braking zone, to leave one long curving straight to the fast Turn 11/12 complex, and camber will be added at Turn 13 to aid overtaking. Any changes to help overtaking are welcomed on that tight street circuit.
Work will begin next week, on preparing the Monaco track for the Grand Prix, if this event does go ahead in the current situation it will be amazing, so we will just have to see how things play out. We do not want to see a repeat of Melbourne last year.
IndyCar
Charlie Kimball re-joins AJ Foyt Racing, but this time he will only be doing the Indy GP and the 500, he has had a long career in the sport, with not a huge amount of success. He did take one win at Mid-Ohio, otherwise though he has been a solid mid pack racer, this is probably what Foyt needs right now, as he tries to rebuild his team towards glory.
Castroneves’ plans for this season have been altered slightly, as he will not take part in the season opening Barber race, this may be due to clashes with some other commitments, after the date was changed. He will instead do the 500, and 5 other road courses to end out his year.
Formula E
BMW believe that they can end their time in Formula E with a title, the team have shown pace on occasion, but have been unable to string a set of results together, to make a strong title bid. I would personally be surprised if they could do it, as the effort it would take to build the team to that level, would not be worth it to then leave the sport.
Meanwhile, Vergne has said that the new DS powertrain is hardly different from last year, this may be great news for those who wish to challenge the reigning champions, as they seem stronger than ever at this point, after the way they ended the 2019-20 season.
MotoGP
There has been a flurry of bike unveilings before testing gets underway for a new season, no major changes can be seen on most of the bikes, which was expected due to many regulation freezes over the offseason.
Quartararo has come out and said that he wants a rivalry with Vinales, like Rossi and Lorenzo had, this may not be such a bad thing, as they were able to push each other hard, without any real scenes of it boiling over.
KTM have played down the new engine for 2021, despite having more concessions to develop it compared to the other teams, we will have to wait and see if this is truthful, or smoke and mirrors. Even if it is true, KTM will be a real threat this year, as that bike was on par with the best, at times last year.
Other News
The TV ratings for the Daytona 500 are a sign of what could have been, as the race began at 6.2, only to drop to an overall 2.8 when it ended in the early morning. This is down on last year too, which was delayed until Monday, if the race had started at say Noon, and maintained the 6.2 and finished just before the rain hit at 3.40, it could have been great for FOX, as I said before let’s just hope they learn from this.
The DTM champion Rast has confirmed he will not defend his title this year, this move was expected given he has signed on full time with the Audi Formula E effort. Having won three titles, he was the most successful driver for Audi, can he have more success with the team in Formula E?

Why MotoGP doesn’t follow F1’s engine frost path
In a precarious economic climate in which the control of rising costs is of the utmost importance, the main stakeholders of Formula 1 approved a development stop for aggregates from 2022 back in February. But it’s a move MotoGP factories don’t even think about, and for a variety of reasons.
Pressure from F1 promoters and rule-makers – Liberty Media and the FIA - to limit costs for teams was intensified with an ultimatum from Red Bull after it became known that Honda (engine supplier to its factory team and AlphaTauri) was closing in on the end of the The 2021 season would retire. Red Bull publicly made the idea of taking on the Japanese engines if the rest of the grid agreed to the freeze.
The details for the new proposal were duly set at the beginning of the season when the FIA approved new regulations for engines between 2022 and 2024 – when the next review is due to take place – and Red Bull immediately announced the creation of a new powertrain division, who has aggressively tried to poach talent from Mercedes.
In MotoGP, a decision as big as an engine stop would have to be approved by the Motorcycle Sport Manufacturers Association (MSMA) and then ratified by the Grand Prix Commission, the representatives of the organizer (Dorna) and the umbrella organization FIM. belong.
Right now, and despite the difficulties manufacturers are facing due to the effects of COVID-19, there is not enough pull to start the debate in the first place. In fact, during a recent meeting of the Grand Prix Commission, it was officially announced – unconditionally – that the current engine shutdown, due to be completed by the end of this year, will not be extended.
“This proposal was never on the MSMA table,” one of the regular participants at the meeting, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Motorsport.com. “In any case, it is common knowledge that some manufacturers would never accept that, and to move something like this forward, it would need unanimity on the board of directors.”

It is clear that the factories that are least willing to accept a hypothetical engine stall are the ones with the most power.
Suzuki is a gigantic company, even if the resources it invests in the MotoGP project cannot be compared to, for example, Honda. Former team manager Davide Brivio, who joined the Alpine F1 team as the new race director ahead of the 2021 season, spotted some of the main differences in dynamics between the two championships.
“The key word in Formula 1 at the moment is sustainability,” Brivio told Motorsport.com. “There are decisions made for the common good and accepted by everyone. The teams here make money direct from the organizer, which is an important point to keep in mind.
“You just have to look at the amount of restrictions that have been placed on F1 over the past few years that have been difficult to accept for the bigger teams. What happened is that they realized that it would be impossible for the smaller teams to survive without a drastic slowdown in costs. “

Let’s imagine for a moment that the six factories currently involved in MotoGP would start a dialogue about the possibility of stopping engine development. It’s not something that could be rolled out before 2023 as Suzuki and Ducati have already launched the base of the new engines they plan to use next season.
“That wouldn’t be fair because it would be against the spirit of the rule itself by wasting the investment made in those components,” our source at MSMA said.
However, one way to enable this in the future would be to only allow engine development every two or three years, a small change that could have a big impact on budgets. It is clear that in the event of an agreement there would be technical backing to support the change.
“Of course it would be possible if the mandate came from the MSMA,” says MotoGP Technical Director Danny Aldridge. “From our side, that wouldn’t be a problem. In fact, it would be easy because we’ve done it before. “

Honda to join forces with Aston Martin from 2026
Honda to join forces with Aston Martin from 2026 By Balazs Szabo on 24 May 2023, 08:57 Ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Aston Martin has today announced that it will be entering into a works partnership with Honda from the 2026 F1 season onwards. Honda returned to the sport in 2018 when it started supplying powertrains to Toro Rosso (now Scuderia Alpha Tauri) in 2018 before moving up the ladder to supply engines to Red Bull Racing in 2019. The partnership culminated in a world championship in 2021 when Max Verstappen secured his first title in the Honda-powered Red Bull Racing car with the success repeated last year when the Milton Keynes-based squad clinched both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships. The announcement also means that Aston Martin’s long-time partnership with Mercedes is set to come to an end. The Anglo-German manufacturer has been the engine supplier of the Silverstone-based team since 2009 with the partnership set to continue until the end of the current power unit era. It means that Aston Martin will use the Mercedes-developed power units, plus the gearbox and rear suspension until the end of 2025. “One of the key reasons for our decision to take up the new challenge in F1 is that the world’s pinnacle form of racing is striving to become a sustainable racing series, which is in line with the direction Honda is aiming toward carbon neutrality, and it will become a platform which will facilitate the development of our electrification technologies,” said Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe. “Honda is a company that has a history of growing by taking on challenges and winning world-class races. With the new 2026 regulations, the key for winning will be a compact, lightweight, and high-power electric motor with a high-performance battery capable of handling high and swift power output, as well as the energy management technology. “We believe that the technologies and know-how gained from this new challenge can potentially be applied directly to our future mass production electric vehicles, such as an electric flagship sports model, and electrification technologies in various areas, including eVTOL which is currently under research and development. “Honda and our new partner, the Aston Martin F1 Team, share the same sincere attitude and determination to win, so starting with the 2026 season, we will work together and strive for the Championship title as Aston Martin Aramco Honda. Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll said: “We share a mutual drive, determination, and relentless ambition to succeed on track. Honda is a global titan and its success in motorsport is longstanding and incredibly impressive.” Koji Watanabe, President of Honda Racing Corporation – the racing division of Honda which will run the project – added: “In the midst of major changes in our business and the motorsports environment leading toward the transition to a carbon neutral society, we have re-established HRC as an optimal platform to sustain and further evolve motorsport activities as a Honda strength. We will establish sustainable operational structures for our racing activities and continue to deliver more dreams and excitement for motorsports fans all around the world.” Group CEO of Aston Martin Performance Technologies Martin Whitmarsh added: “The new 2026 F1 power unit regulations are a huge and important change, but one which we are confident we can navigate successfully together. Jointly with our strategic partner Aramco, we can look forward to open collaboration towards a common goal. “Our future works partnership with Honda is one of the last parts of the jigsaw puzzle slotting into place for Aston Martin’s ambitious plans in Formula 1. Finally, I would like to pay tribute to our current power unit supplier who we will continue to partner with for the next few seasons.” via F1Technical.net .
