Familiar
A Raazi Fanfiction
Samar was Iqbal's splitting image. Sehmat couldn't help feeling overwhelmed any more than she could help a painful trip down the memory lane.
Tumblr media
He had been Iqbal’s spitting image since the day he was born. His every feature matched that of his father, and as Sehmat held him, she could not help but feel overwhelmed.
The infant’s wide eyes were strikingly like Iqbal’s, looking at her in wonder, his little hands reaching for her—giving her a familiar sense of calm while also making her heart give a painful throb. It had not sunk in completely, not yet—She was his mother, Iqbal his father. She wondered for a second how he’d have felt if he had known.
The little one was still looking at her, still trying to reach for her, and then, the most random thought crossed her mind. When had she last met Iqbal’s eyes? And then, For the first time since the last seven months, her mind went to the one moment she had locked away in the back of her mind. She exhaled sharply, averting her gaze from her son’s deep brown eyes.
She did not want to think about it. Not now, not ever. It would haunt her for the rest of her life, how these familiar pools of brown had searched her own, how his eyes had exhibited the betrayal he had so clearly felt. She didn’t know how she would ever be able to look into her son’s eyes without seeing Iqbal, his accusing gaze upon her, asking her, “Was any of it true, Sehmat?"

Why do Muslims say “Al-hamdu Lillaah” after they sneeze?
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) :
Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“When Allah created Adam and breathed the spirit into him, he (Adam (alayhi salam)) sneezed and said, “Al-hamdu Lillaah (Praise be to Allah).” So he praised Allah by His permission and his Lord said to him, “Allah have mercy on you, Adam.”
[Al-Tirmidhee Hadeeth 4662 (part)]
Why do Muslims say “Al-hamdu Lillaah” after they sneeze?
Praise be to Allah. It was proven in the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Allah likes the act of sneezing and dislikes the act of yawning, so if any one of you sneezes and praises Allah (says “al-hamdu Lillah”), it is a duty on every Muslim who hears him to say to him, “Yarhamuk Allah (may Allah have mercy on you).” As for yawning, it is from the Shaytaan, so if any of you feels the urge to yawn, he should suppress it as much as he can, for when any one of you yawns, the Shaytaan laughs at him.”
[Reported by al-Bukhari, 10/505]
It was also reported from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“If any one of you sneezes, let him say ‘Al-hamdu Lillaah,’ and let his brother or his companion say, ‘Yarhamuk Allah.’ And if he says to him, ‘Yarhamuk Allah,’ let him say, ‘Yahdeekum Allahu wa yusliha baalakum (May Allah guide you and correct your thinking).’”
[Reported by al-Bukhari, 10/502]
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that two men sneezed in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who said:
“Yarhamuk Allah”
to one of them, but not to the other. The one to whom he did not say it said: “So and so sneezed, and you said ‘Yarhamuk Allaah’ to him; I sneezed but you did not say it to me.”
He said,
“He praised Allah (said ‘al-hamdu Lillaah’) and you did not.”
[Reported by al-Bukhari, 10/504]
Abu Musa al-Ash’ari reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“When one of you sneezes and praises Allah, then say ‘Yarhamuk Allah’ to him, but if he does not praise Allah then do not say it.”
[Reported by Muslim 2992]
Sneezing brings a person the blessing of relief by releasing vapours that were trapped in the head which, if they were to remain there, would cause him pain and sickness. For this reason, Islam tells him to praise Allah for this blessing and for the fact that his body is still intact after this jolt that shook him like an earthquake… for sneezing causes a disturbing movement in the body… It was said (concerning the origin of the word “tashmeet” [which is translated here as “saying ‘yarhamuk Allah’, but the original meaning is to tell someone to rejoice at another’s ‘misfortune’]): this is telling him to feel joyful because he has annoyed the Shaytaan by praising Allah for the blessing of sneezing and its association with things that Allah likes.
When a person mentions Allah and praises Him, this annoys the Shaytaan in several ways, for example: the act of sneezing itself, which Allah likes; his praising Allah for it; the Muslims praying for mercy for him; and his prayer for them to be guided. All of this annoys the Shaytaan and makes him upset, so the believer is told to rejoice over this annoyance of his enemy. Praying for mercy for the one who sneezes is called tashmeet because it implies that he should rejoice over the annoyance of his enemy. This is a good meaning which people should bear in mind when they sneeze or say ‘yarhamuk Allah’ to one who sneezes, and they should appreciate the blessing of sneezing for the body and mind, and understand why Allah likes it. Praise be to Allah as is His due for He is the Most Generous and Majestic.
The scholar Ibn Muflih al-Hanbali (may Allah have mercy on him) reported that Imaam Ibn Hubayrah said: “Al-Raazi reported from some doctors: sneezing is not a sign of the onset of sickness, unless it is accompanied by catarrh.” Ibn Hubayrah said: “If a person sneezes, this is an indication of good health, sound digestion and physical strength, so he should praise Allah. This is why the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded us to praise Allah.”
It is also important to know that the Muslim should submit to the texts and act in accordance with them, without trying too hard to understand precisely why a text commands or forbids something. He should believe that Allah is the Wise and Aware, Who does not prescribe anything for His slaves unless it is in their best interests, in this world and the next, even though it may not cross their minds and some people may understand part of the wisdom behind it whilst others will never know. The Muslim’s basic rule is to follow the commands, and if he has some knowledge of the reason behind the commands, then praise be to Allah.
And Allah knows best.
For further details on the rules concerning sneezing, see: Al-Aadaab al-Shara’iyyah by Ibn Muflih, 2/334; Zaad al-Ma’aad by Ibn al-Qayyim, 2/438; Ghadhaa’ al-Albaab by al-Safaareeni, 1/441 – by Shaykh Muhammed Saalih Al-Munajjid

Alia Bhatt's Raazi Crosses 100 Crore Mark
New Delhi: The movie Raazi has been a hit at the box office. The movie starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal has crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark and continues to have an excellent run. This marks Alia's third movie in the Rs. 100 cr club. She believes that if people connect with a film, "unconventional can also be conventional". "Unconventional can also be conventional and commercial if it connects with people. It is essential somewhere to maintain that balance. I was hoping this film strikes a balance and I am happy it did. It also makes me believe in the choices that I make as an actor." She said in an interview with news agency PTI.
When asked if the actress gets worrried about the film's fate? She said, "I never worry while working on a film but during the release, I do. I worry about the fate of every film and that will never change".
"My struggles will always be there. It is harder when you have expectations. My struggle is with myself, to outdo and outperform myself, to do something new and different. Just because things are working out for me as an actor in the film industry doesn't mean I don't struggle to make it work," Alia added. Taran Adarsh,  Bollywood analyst tweeted: "Raazi is the second heroine-centric film to cross Rs. 100 cr mark, after Tanu Weds Manu Returns... However, TWMR was a franchise, so it had a huge advantage... Raazi is the first one to achieve the milestone without the tag of a franchise or commercial trappings." The movie's plot is based on Harinder Sikka's novel Calling Sehmat. Alia plays the role of Sehmat, an Indian spy, who is married to a Pakistani Army officer, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal to extract valuable information to avert war.
Alia is going to share screen with Ranveer Singh for the first time in Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy. Karan Johar's film Kalank and Brahmastra are among her upcoming projects.

★ Race 3 hype builds, could take 40-cr opening!
June 13, 2018
Tumblr media
The race is on for the blockbuster Eid release, Race 3, this week. The Salman Khan-starrer ensemble action-drama has already created plenty of hype ever since its trailer released and, now, two days before the movie hits cinemas, the audience can barely contain their excitement. We spoke to some distributors across the country and discovered that the anticipation is only building ahead of the movie’s release.
Balkrishna Shroff, Distributor (Mumbai)
The craze for Race 3 is excellent. The movie is looking very good and advance bookings online are doing very well. People are as excited about Race 3 as they are about any other Salman Khan movie. While, earlier, the queues at booking counters were legendary, all the activity has moved online. I don’t think any other movie in 2018 has generated so much hype. The last film that the audience was super-excited about was Tiger Zinda Hai. Judging by how things are looking right now, first-day collections of Race 3 should be over Rs 30 crore.
Sakshi Mehra, Distributor (Delhi-UP)
There is plenty of excitement over the movie but the verdict from the audience will come in on Friday. Being a Salman Khan film with a big star cast, the movie has generated plenty of anticipation. Also, it is the holiday period and the Eid weekend. No doubt, the initial collections will be fantastic. I expect the film to be very big.
Gaurav Ruparel, Distributor (Rajkot)
The craze for Race 3 is building every day. People are delighted with the schemes being offered by Paytm and other similar apps that offer advance booking for movie tickets. I think the film will do huge business from the very beginning. It might earn more than Rs 40 crore on day one itself. People are always excited about Salman Khan’s films but this kind of craze was not there for Tubelight last year.
The hype is probably even more because there weren’t many children’s films during this vacation. So, that section of the audience is also excited. Also, people have not seen a commercial film for many months. Kaala has not done well and Veere Di Wedding is aimed at a certain section of the audience. The last commercial film was maybe Baaghi2 and it released two months ago. That adds to the buzz around Race 3, as it is a family film.
Jaspal Dhingra, Distributor (East Punjab)
The talk around the film has increased over the last few weeks. The film has been marketed very well and people like the look of the film, which will definitely take a bumper opening. It is our hero Salman Khan’s movie, after all. The advance booking is quite remarkable and the buzz around the film has amped up in the last week or so. There is a spike in advance bookings too.
One, this is a Salman Khan film releasing on Eid and, two, the Race brand is huge. People can’t wait for the third instalment in this franchise and they want to watch Salman Khan in a Race film. Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai was also a huge brand and it generated a lot of anticipation but Tubelight was a disappointment. It was a little thanda from the very beginning. But the trailer of Race 3 has made it clear that this is an action movie with a glamourous backdrop and movies like these are very popular among the masses. I think this film will take the biggest opening for any movie in 2018 to date.
This is a good time to release movies. The vacation and festival season is good.  Also, in North India, due to load-shedding of electricity, people don’t want to sit in the heat indoors. They prefer to step out with family. So, a movie like Race 3 will pull in the audience, just as Raazi, Parmanu and Veere Di Wedding did. But Race 3 will earn much more.
Sanjay Marudhar, Distributor (Central India)
Since this is an Eid release and it features Salman Khan, there is a lot of hype around the film. People have already started booking their tickets online. The Salman Khan and Eid combination always works for the audience. They look forward to it every year. But the hype is even more as Race 3 belongs to a huge franchise. The songs of the film are doing very well. No film has made as much noise as Race 3 is making this year and the collections of the film should be more than anything we have seen this year. The first day and weekend will be the biggest.
Debashish Dey, Distributor (West Bengal)
The anticipation about the movie is very good. The film features Salman Khan and we all know that Race is a very popular franchise. Hence the buzz will increase. It has action scenes at par with those in foreign movies and it is even more for a Salman Khan movie this time. All his films have fans in a tizzy, especially his Eid releases. The audience was very excited about Tubelight, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan but Race 3 has created a frenzy among the audience. This is the biggest release of the year, to date.
Advance booking is the biggest it’s been for a film in 2018 and it will pick up further tomorrow. What could be bigger than the combination of Salman Khan, Eid and Race? From what I hear, since Eid is on Saturday and Friday is the last Jumma, I think the day-one collections will be around Rs 38 crore, which is huge. Collections will grow on Saturday and even further on Sunday. The total for the first weekend will be around Rs 125 crore.
Rajesh Thadani, Distributor (Mumbai)
The opening of the film will be very good. The audience has been looking forward to watching this film in theatres and since it is the holiday of Eid, business is bound to be good. The main collections will be made on Saturday and Sunday, which will create a record-breaking opening weekend for this film.
Ravi Machhar, Distributor (Nizam)
The Race 3 craze is more than good. People have been booking tickets online and bookings have picked up today and will be even more tomorrow. When the film releases on Friday, I think it will cross Rs 40 crore. If it achieves that on its first day, we can expect a Rs 110-crore plus weekend. The film is big brand and it adds to the curiosity of the audience. It makes the film bigger than being only a Salman Khan movie releasing on Eid. Franchises do good business and when you have other great factors, the opening weekends are always good.

I don't read on Wattpad, only publish my B-wood fanfics (and doing so is a real nightmare tbh) because I feel that Bollywood movies have a larger audience there than on AO3. I do maintain that Wattpad is evil.
All my fics are cross-posted on AO3. I keep it fairly updated but my newest fics can be found on my FFN account.
I'm a part of two HP Fanfiction writing comps : The Quidditch league fanfiction competition and The International Wizarding School Championship, so I do beta read for my teammates and friends frequently.
Almost all my Fics are unbeta-ed so. Umm.
All my Raazi fics are self indulgent. I wrote one fic for Manmarziyaan (the 2018 movie not the show) which was also self indulgent. A number of my old fics too. I do however have this one v soft Raazi fic which I wrote a month-ish ago that I haven't had the courage to post because of how terribly self indulgent it is 😅
Several times. I can literally do nothing else when I read some Awesome fics!
About 2 or 3 times on all Jodhaa Akbar and some Padmavat fics on AO3.
I usually write angst but I Love Reading Fluff!!!
WOLFSTAR!!!! I have only one, I think, but I'm trying to expand my ships.
FANFICTION IS A VALID FORM OF CREATIVITY AND ANYONE WHO THINKS OTHERWISE CAN FIGHT ME.
My fandoms can broadly be called Raazi, Harry Potter, and Bollywood (I know raazi is technically Bollywood but I have multiple raazi fics and I hold raazi higher up than other Bollywood films in general). I am not including fandoms that I haven't written for yet, simply because I myself am not too sure about how many there are.
I wouldn't say I love it, but it is literally impossible for me to write anything without first researching stuff.
I used to write without outlines but then sometime later I'd forget my original plot and have nothing to refer to so my fic'd go down in the drain. I still write w/o outlines sometimes but I try to have a concrete idea penned down somewhere just in case.
Honestly, who isn't?
One unfinished fic? Haha ... Try one hundred, perhaps? *Laughs nervously*
Editing is hell, esp if you're posting on Tumblr or Wattpad because those two mess with your formatting bad.
I once got an idea in the middle of the night and started writing then and there and finally got done at like 5.30 am and posted it on all platforms at about 6 😅
All my Raazi fics deserve more attention v_v
Yep! I have a few original fics planned out so hopefully that'll go well.
Welp that was quite lengthy. Tagging @allegoriesinmediasres @ruminationsofaraven @nan-drw @walburgablack @glyphenthusiast @avani008 and anyone else who wants to do it ^ • ^

Story below the cut!
“I’m starving!”
Raazi pulled into the garage and parked, grabbing the bag and hurrying inside the house. Yotam followed after him, much calmer, but his tummy was still rumbling.
Raazi ripped open the Raging Turbull bag, pulling out his cheeseburger. It was fully involved, everything on it, and even two patties. He unwrapped it and went to take a large bite, until he heard a saddened sigh.
“Oy vey… they left the cheese on my burger!” Yotam whined. Raazi’s head shot toward Yotam, and Yotam lifted the bun off the burger. Sure enough, there was cheese, melted into the patty.
There was no way Yotam could peel it off. Yotam frowned, his stomach growling. He was famished, but now he couldn’t eat his food, due to religious dietary restrictions.
Anger boiled inside Raazi, and he seized the cheeseburger from Yotam’s hands and threw it back in the bag. Grabbing Yotam’s arm, Raazi yanked him toward the garage and got back in the car. Yotam, confused, but too quiet to argue, got in the passenger side, and Raazi flew the car out of the garage and down the street.
Anxiety coursed through Yotam’s veins as Raazi sped out of the neighborhood. Yotam’s hand was clutching the handlebar above him, his palm sweaty. Raazi was definitely going above the speed limit.
“W-where are we going in such a hurry?” Yotam asked, his voice shaking. Raazi didn’t respond, but his face was turning red with fury.
They sped down the street, narrowly avoiding red lights. Yotam didn’t know what was going on, but he was certain they were gonna get pulled over, or get in a wreck, or just something bad in general was gonna happen.
After what seemed like an eternity for the both of them, they pulled into the parking lot of the Raging Turbull, the hottest burger joint in town. Yotam now realized what Raazi was planning.
“Raazi, it really isn’t a big deal-“ Yotam tried to beg, but Raazi put his finger over Yotam’s lips to silence him. Raazi parked and the two got out.
Throwing open the doors and dragging the reluctant Yotam behind him, Raazi stormed up to the counter.
“Hello and welcome to the Raging Turbull! How may I se-“ The man at the country started, but Raazi promptly interrupted him.
“Yeah, you see, I was here earlier…” Raazi pulled out his receipt and handed it to the worker. “...and the second order specifically says ‘no cheese’. Well…” he pulled out Yotam’s burger and showed it to the worker. “...this definitely has cheese on it!”
“Raazi, it’s okay, I-“ Yotam’s voice was barely heard by Raazi.
“You see him right here?!” Raazi pointed up at Yotam. “He’s Jewish! He only eats kosher! Meat and cheese together is not kosher!” Raazi got closer to the counter, his eyes a smoldering golden fire. “I demand you prepare a new burger for my boyfriend!”
Yotam froze at hearing the last word, and the worker nodded his head, silent, before turning and telling the cooks. Raazi crossed his arms angrily.
The worker handed a bag to Raazi, concern in his eyes. “I’m so sorry about that! This time, no cheese.”
Raazi glared at the worker before taking the burger out of the bag and inspecting it. This time, there was no cheese. The worker twirled his thumbs nervously.
“Is it good?” He asked.
Raazi’s eyes lit up. “It’s perfect! Thank you!” Raazi grabbed Yotam’s sleeve. “Come on, Yotam! Let’s go enjoy our burgers!” With that, he pulled Yotam out of the restaurant. Yotam gave the worker an apologetic look before leaving.
They got in the car, and Raazi took a deep breath. Yotam was in shock.
“Did you really mean that? What you said?” Yotam asked gently.
“Well, duh! You deserve a nice meal-“
“Not that,” Yotam interrupted. “You called me your boyfriend. Did you really mean that?”
Raazi looked at Yotam. “Oh, that? It just kinda slipped out.” Raazi admitted.
“O-oh…” Yotam’s voice trailed off, and Raazi shrugged his shoulders.
“I dunno. I thought we were already boyfriends? It was just… unspoken.” Raazi replied.
Yotam’s eyes widened, and he smiled at Raazi. “Really? So… I am your boyfriend? And you’re mine?” Yotam asked. Raazi chuckled.
“Well, yeah! If that’s okay with you!” Raazi responded.
“Yeah, it is.” Yotam smiled. Raazi grinned and reached over to Yotam, hugging him tightly. Yotam hugged him back. “...we should probably keep it a secret from our families though.”
“Agreed.” Raazi drew back and started the car, and the two headed home to enjoy their meal as boyfriends.
