#sharpeville #sharpevillemassacre #racism #racialsegregation #southafrica https://www.instagram.com/p/B9_mxfBqpFl/?igshid=kvos47zqqew1

Here is Part 2 of my #onedroprule post. Here is a comment about it that I found on @blasianfma’s #youtube channel. do you agree? 🤔 Now more on the history of the ODR: Although #racialsegregation was adopted legally by southern states of the former Confederacy in the late 19th century, legislators resisted defining race by law as part of preventing #interracialmarriages. In 1895 in South Carolina during discussion, George D. Tillman said, "It is a scientific fact that there is NOT one full-blooded Caucasian on the floor of this convention. Every member has in him a certain mixture of…colored blood. It would be a cruel injustice and the source of endless litigation, of scandal, horror, feud, and bloodshed to undertake to annul or forbid marriage for a remote, perhaps obsolete trace of #Negro blood. The doors would be open to scandal, malice, and greed.” The one-drop rule was not adopted as law until the 20th century: first in Tennessee in 1910 and in Virginia under the Racial Integrity Act of 1924 (following passage of similar laws in several other states). In the U.S., the concept of the one-drop rule has been chiefly applied by #WhiteAmericans to those of sub-Saharan #Black African ancestry in the 20th century, when they were trying to maintain #whitesupremacy. The poet #LangstonHughes wrote in his 1940 memoir: “You see, unfortunately, I am not Black. There are lots of different kinds of blood in our family. But here in the United States, the word ‘Negro’ is used to mean anyone who has any Negro blood at all in his veins. In Africa, the word is more pure. It means all Negro, therefore black. I am brown." Whites also applied this rule to #mixedrace descendants of #NativeAmerican and #African ethnicity, classifying them as only African. In this they ignored how people identified themselves; many Native American tribes reared children of mixed race as culturally within their tribe. This distinction was critical as Native American slavery had ended during the colonial years! A child of a Native American mother should not be enslaved! We simply don’t want to be ignored! We want to identify ourselves! Please share/sign petition in my bio! 💉 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx1phupFucz/?igshid=q3cv0wm9rkyq

His calculations allowed the United States to #conquer the #Moon. American mathematician #KatherineJohnson died at the age of 101, NASA announced on Monday February 24. The career of this great figure among black Americans inspired the #film The #Shadow Figures, released in 2016, adapted from the book by #MargotLee Shetterly, which recounted the all too often overlooked contribution of black women in the American conquest of the 'space. The scientist had remained relatively unknown until President Barack #Obama awarded her, in 2015, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, one of the highest civilian distinctions in the #UnitedStates. Black mathematicians, away from their white colleagues At that time, #racialsegregation was still in effect in the United States, and the #scientist was working as a "colored computer" with dozens of other black #mathematicians, away from their white colleagues. It was only in 1958 that his team was integrated into other NASA divisions, to be part of the first manned space flight program in the United States. Great Education, No Segregation- Controlled Choice Policy.
Great Education, No Segregation- Controlled Choice Policy.
Conservative America has never given up on segregating the country’s schools. Donald Trump has given them a free hand to do it.
Think tanks across the country have been working out a legal method to do so. It is proving effective. American schools are more segregated than they were in 1968.
The privatizing of education has been their long term goal for a number of different reasons. Some of these…
