earthcentric au lore. raditz never shows up so eventually piccolo just kills goku, and that fight is when gohan's hidden power is revealed, and without an impending threat of the saiyans to worry about piccolo doesn't kidnap gohan when the cavalry come in. gohan has to train with kami for the next year while they wait for the dragonballs to recharge (pilaf got his wish because it was funny and we needed an excuse for goku to not immediately return) and yet STILL gohan is able to cause piccolo to see that, perhaps there's more to life than revenge... bc he killed goku and then went "Uh. now what" and gohan is a naive and pure hearted soul who despite everything accepts that piccolo has the potential to be good... he shounen protagonists him so much so that when goku gets back from the otherworld all excited to fight piccolo with his new techniques, they've already basically become best friends (gohan beat him up and spared him)

Thoughts during and about DBZ: World’s Strongest because if I didn’t write them down my brain would explode
I always had it in my head that Dead Zone & World’s Strongest were some of the most “original” DBZ movies (since most of them are obvious retellings of specific arcs with slightly different villains) but like, watching them now it’s like, oh,
Dead Zone is the Piccolo Sagas (the son of Kami’s old rival comes back for revenge and is ultimately sealed away in a vessel at the bottom of the sea) with aspects of Pilaf (Garlic Jr’s design and English voice) and Raditz (villain kidnaps Gohan and Piccolo just happens to come to the rescue for his own reasons)
& World’s Strongest does have a lot of original elements, but it’s also clearly based on the Muscle Tower part of the Red Ribbon arc (building full of traps and mechanical and bioengineered villains in the middle of the snow, that one guy was just an uglier version of The Jiggler) plus some not-even-disguised Saibamen and a Pilaf arc callback to Oolong trying to steal someone’s wish…though I do wonder if this movie was an inspiration for the much-later Android/Cell Saga
Also, too lazy to take screencaps but both Sleeping Princess In Devil’s Castle & Dead Zone had sequences that STRONGLY reminded me of the Ralph Bakshi movie Wizards, and apparently both were directed by the same guy (Daisuke Nishio). I’d be curious to know if he was a Wizards fan or if both Wizards and the DB/Z movies were influenced by a different third thing
Since all the movies overtly contradict the canon timeline in different ways, making it unclear which canon events happened or not during the movie AUs, I love the vibe here that Goku and Chi-chi have just been raising Gohan quietly at home while Piccolo’s just some scary dude out in the woods that Gohan is obsessed with XD Like, Gohan daydreaming about ditching his studies to go see Piccolo, the way Chi-chi scolds him for spending time with Piccolo, and Goku clearly being a present father figure (VS canon Piccolo being Gohan’s substitute dad for 1-2 years), has big “that kid is a bad influence >:/ you shouldn’t play with him” energy. Love that Gohan’s first reaction on seeing him too is to run up for a hug :’) and to throw a tantrum when he sees Piccolo and his dad fighting each other
(Sidenote, as a kid watching DBZ there were basically just a couple throwaway lines about Piccolo being an enemy before he starts fighting with them against the main series bad guys, and I’d never read his DB story arcs, so I was always confused by these movies having side characters being scared of Piccolo or Piccolo trying to attack Goku. Like “What??? I thought you guys were friends?????”)
Also love that Oolong saw on the radar that someone was collecting the Dragon Balls and his first instinct wasn’t “oh crap, a bad guy must be doing bad things, I’d better tell my superhero friends,” it was “I’m gonna take a literal child with me to try and steal these things because he’s the only person I know who can punch good but can also be bullied into letting me have the wish” X’D Why is he so scared of “throw the baby at the mountain” Piccolo, they have so much in common, they’re both terrible babysitters. Also WHY is he again thinking about wishing for 1 single pair of ladies’ underwear, dude, there’s a magical place called a department store where you can just BUY one. I mean, thank god on every female character’s behalf that he’s too stupid to think of something more sinister, but dude, seriously XD (Listen, I love him and he’s generally OK around women after the Pilaf Saga, but he def doesn’t view women as people except sometimes when they’re women he knows, and he would def be tempted to make a gross or at least non-feminist wish if he ever thought of one)
Also it’s not like it’s a particularly original outfit—it’s just his Saiyan Saga outfit with sleeves, and THAT is just his end-of-the-Pilaf-Saga outfit with recolored pants—but amusing that the flashback to Oolong stealing the radar shows him in his Buu Saga outfit years before the Buu Saga
Also I LOVE the location designs in these movies maybe specifically cus they’re so not-Toriyama-like. Watching the original and reboot Broly movies back-to-back was so jarring, Toriyama’s Vegeta palace designs felt more “right” but the spooky vibes of the dimly lit twisty palace with big stained glass windows really got me

Bro what happened to all those "what if Raditz kidnapped Gohan and raised him as FF soldier" AU?
I feel like that was possible the darkest AU you could make out DB that didn't involved brutally killing off characters for a long while

OH BOY PART 2 Alright, Lemme take it from the top!
Earth Centric AU is a DBZ AU where Raditz doesn't come to earth in search of Goku... for about 6 years. In the mean time, the Z-Fighters have no idea about space, saiyans, namekians, or Galactic Threats. They have to deal with troubles on their own end, like Piccolo perfecting the Makankosapo and killing Goku with it, sending 6 year old Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma on a search for the Dragon Balls in order to revive Goku, Pilaf getting his wish of World Domination and not being great at it, and Dr. Gero taking advantage of Royal Funding to create an Android Army.
As for Piccolo and Frieza specifically? Lemme explain more underneath the Read More! And also heres a lil doodle for u of Android Frieza <3
Tumblr media
Piccolo remains the Z-Fighters main threat in this AU (For now) and is able to kill Goku one day. Gohan exhibits his Saiyan Rage power, preventing Piccolo from kidnapping him and heavily damaging him. Over the course of the next year while they wait for the Dragon Balls to become active again, the two clash every so often, and Gohan begins training with Kami on the lookout.
Piccolo, as you can suspect, isn't exactly raving with excitement over what he's done. He feels Good that Goku is dead, but that shred of good inside of him feels guilty for having killed the man who let him live. And Kami can sense it inside of him too, and encourages Gohan to try and appeal to that sense of honor and kindness that exists within Piccolo. Things eventually come to a head, with Gohan and Piccolo having an incredible battle over the last Dragon Ball, and it coming to basically a stalemate. Goku is revived and ready to fight with these techniques he learned from King Kai, but Gohan asks him to not hurt Piccolo, and Piccolo flies away begrudingly and doesn't attack them again. Gohan was able to appeal to his Humanity (for lack of a better word) and, while he isn't quite their Ally yet, he doesn't want to kill Goku or Gohan, or rule the world anymore. Piccolo has had a taste of something else, and has turned his back on that old life.
WOW that was long! Time for Frieza!
Honestly Frieza doesn't have too much to do in this AU! But has some Very fun changes <3
Frieza hasn't had much going on until the Z-Fighters are heading to Namek in order to use their Dragon Balls after Piccolo is killed by Cell... Well, Cell V.1. Ask about him later <3 They are accompanied by Raditz, who along with the other Saiyans are beginning a plan to rebel against Frieza. They don't plan on taking them to Namek at first, but they accidentally let it spill over Scouter Comms to Frieza that Namek has Wish Granting balls. So it's a race to gather them. From there, the Namek Saga is largely the same on Friezas part, other than his defeat at the hands of Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta all together, all in Super Saiyan mode. he is blasted into one of Nameks Suns, and is later picked up by King Cold. They do the whole Mecha Frieza thing, but as they approach earth they are... Contacted by a certain Android Doctor.
Dr. Gero leaves on Friezas ship (With Android 16 and a Larval Cell V.2 in tow) and begins upgrading Friezas Mechanics to his own standard, and an Energy Absorption Model to boot. Frieza begins sapping the life out of his own soldiers and crew, and things get real fucking Creepy up in space for a while, as Gero realizes just how sadistic Frieza is. He is able to alter Android 16s programming to make Frieza another of his targets, and as a back up plan begins to change Cell V.2s perfection to be obtained by absorbing the Android Frieza. The attack on Earth begins, and Frieza is Ridiculously strong now (OH also it's Krillin and Lazulis wedding day (she and lapis are not androids here <3 smile)) He and the Z-Fighters fight, and Gero tries to activate the bomb he put into Frieza at the right moment to take out both him And Goku, but King Cold stops him and prepares to Kill Gero before 16 is activated and blasts away Cold and a good fourth of the entire ship.
He joins the battle, fighting both Goku and Frieza, and eventually Frieza is killed by his own technique and sent 2 Hell. Theres more to this story, but Friezas is over. For good! Due to his frankly completely creepy and terrifying actions at the end of his life of absorbing his soldiers life force, and King Cold letting it happen, in the future his own peons resurrect a Certain Older Brother of his <3 so Resurrection C!
THAT WAS REAL LONG Thanks so much for reading all that if you did!

I'm thinking of writing a Dragon Ball AU fanfiction. It's a Goku X Bulma one.
The plot: The beginning flashes back to when Goku met Bulma. Afterwards, narration speaks of the adventures they went on, and who they met. The story continues when at the world's martial arts tournament, Goku is convinced by Krillin and Yamcha to ask Bulma out on a date. After Goku fights Chi Chi, he turns her down, due to a misunderstanding. Chi Chi Seeks comfort with Yamcha, which starts their romance. After Goku defeats Piccolo, cut to years later, where he is now living with Bulma and their son Gohan, (just imagine him with purple hair). The three then head out to meet up with the old gang, along with Bulma's sister Tights. When they get there, they see that Yamcha is with Chi Chi, with their own kid, a little girl OC named Chi-Cha. But soon, Raditz shows up, and kidnaps Gohan. Goku and Piccolo team up to defeat him, but when they do, Raditz survives. Vegeta and Nappa turn on him, saying that because he failed, they'll be coming after him. So, as Goku goes to train with King Kai, Piccolo and Raditz begin to train Gohan. On the day the Saiyans arrive, the Z fighters are assembled. Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Chaotzu, Piccolo, Chi Chi, and Raditz. They fight against them, losing Tien, Chaotzu, Piccolo, and Yamcha. Chi Chi almost loses her life in an attempt to stop the Saiyans, but she and the others are saved at the last minute by Goku. Nappa is almost killed by Vegeta, but the Prince stops himself from doing so, since he knew Nappa would be of use later on. The two fight, with help on the sidelines from the others. Even Chi-Cha managed to sneak into the battle to help blindside Vegeta with Yajarobi and Launch, who got mighty pissed after Tien was killed. Eventually, Vegeta is stopped, and leaves the battlefield, with Nappa following. With that arc finished, Krillin, Bulma, Gohan, Tights, Chi Chi and Chi-Cha head off to Namek while Goku and Raditz rest. The Namek saga follows the same way, except for Raditz being Goku's partner as they train and fight, and the three other women on the trip, and Nappa is Vegetas partner as well. Vegeta and Nappa both redeem themselves after sacrificing themselves to stop Frieza. Goku ends up defeating Frieza after Piccolo is mortally wounded, Krillin is killed, and Chi Chi is almost killed, and he becomes a Super Saiyan. Vegeta, Nappa and the Namekians are brought back and the group return to earth to bring back Yamcha, Tien, Chaotzu and Krillin. Next is the Android and Cell sagas. It follows the same road, except Vegeta ends up with Tights, making Trunks their kid in the future, Chi Chi, Chi-Cha, Launch and Nappa are a part of the story. That's what I've thought of so far. It's pretty much just the story of DBZ, but with Goku and Bulma together, Vegeta and Tights are Trunks parents, Raditz becomes a good guy, Chi Chi and Yamcha have a kid, Nappa joins them after redeeming himself. Let me know if you wanna see this as an actual written fanfic.

What would be your ideal vegekaka au/fic?
tbh I think I really peaked with my Kakavege NHL AU
lmao but in all seriousness, I’m literally always down for any kind of iteration of a Planet Vegeta AU. like.... just fuck me up??? (Also I wish I could find it now, but I remember someone mentioning an AU concept where instead of, y’know, kidnapping Gohan and being an asshole, Raditz actually recruits Goku to join him and the other Saiyans in fighting against Frieza?? Man, someone write that please??)
ALSO not to spoil anything, but after seeing what @sevargs has written already for kakavege week... I swear to god I’m discovering AUs I didn’t even know I wanted 👀👀

A more-serious DB AU I’ve thought about is one where after the Raditz fiasco, after Goku got killed and Piccolo kidnapped Gohan, Chichi decided to take matters into her own hands and go after Piccolo and get her son back, come hell or high water.
She ends up tracking down Piccolo and Gohan, and attacks Piccolo-- this doesn’t go well, and she ends up getting KO’d (Piccolo doesn’t really care enough to kill her), and Piccolo flies off with Gohan somewhere else to train.
But Chichi doesn’t give up so easily. She keeps following Piccolo and Gohan, and ends up attacking Piccolo nearly every day-- at first Piccolo is very annoyed by this interruption of their training, but they grow to admire Chichi’s tenacity, and even start to look forward to their fights, since Chichi is getting stronger and more skillful each time.
Eventually it ends up being more like Chichi is training for the Saiyans with Piccolo and Gohan (maybe Gohan is the one to suggest that Piccolo just let Chichi train with them), and Gohan ends up better off for it, both in his training, and in the battle with the Saiyans when they arrive.

AU Questions: If Raditz didn't come to Earth until much later, how much would Goku Son prepare for his fight against Piccolo Junior if he had kidnapped his boy, Gohan Son, told Goku to prepare for their rematch against each other within five days and finally told the hero that if he didn't go to him alone, he'll kill his son before flying away? ....And what do you think Chichi would say and do once she knew what happened to her and Goku's son?
You mean: What if Piccolo was the one who kidnapped Gohan instead of Raditz?
I believe Goku would try to go after his son immediately like he does in the Raditz arc.
According to the saiyan scouter Goku has already a higher power level than Piccolo at this time. Well, I don’t believe it would be an easy fight, but I think Goku would win against Piccolo eventually. Chichi would be furious, of course. Maybe she would go after Goku and Gohan like she did in the Raditz arc.
Yeah, I beleve the story wouldn’t be much different from the actual arc (only Raditz is replaced by Piccolo)
Has anyone else other ideas?

My “Raditz kidnaps Gohan” comic (that was a present for a friend) is done! A whole 9 pages of emotion, yay!
Most of the context of this piece was in discussions, which aren’t elaborated on in the comic. So you might be wondering what the broader context is...except I’m too lazy to explain, so please just enjoy it as is. :)

TumblrFrostbite's AU Message: If Raditz didn't come to Earth until much later, what happens if Piccolo Junior his kidnapped Gohan, invited Goku and his pals (Krillin, Tien, Yamcha and Choutzu) to his own tournament (giving them five days to prepare for it) and also told the heroes that if they don't come, he'll kill Gohan? How would the Dragon Team prepare for it? Would Piccolo take on any minions to combat the heroes in his tourney?
Frankly, I don’t think it’s Piccolo’s style. This scenario would not have happened at all.

wishlist things:
Rin:
Rin returning from a mission after the 4th war now bearing the seal of a hundred -- and trying to keep it hidden. Someone sees it.
Dealing with the aftermath of Rin becoming Isobu’s jinchuuriki and being pushed into training to learn how to cope with it -- and being pushed into ANBU (not entirely by choice)
post-Kyuubi attack jinchuuriki or non-jinchuuriki Rin. Enough said.
more time-travel AU things -- future or past, doesn’t matter
more missing-nin/Yondaime Orochimaru verse
Hyori:
AU where she’s a shinki instead of half-phantom
Gohan:
AU With Gohan as one of Frieza’s soldiers, successfully kidnapped by Raditz or otherwise taken into service.
(Also anything in wishlist tag can probably be done with at least one muse these are just the things that come to me right now)

Honestly still thinking about MY version of "Raditz kidnaps Gohan" AU but the overral idea is pretty clear i just need to write it down, the most important factor is that Gohan (as adult) has just become Evil, a completely Fucked Up individual; but not in the typical DBZ bad guy like Cell but more like Tai Lung from KFP1 with a dash Saiyaman as funky cover-up
Oh and he's finally the unofficial 6th Ginyu Force member (despite him being much stronger than all of them) also Vegeta is his mentor, Nappa is his tired nanny and Raditz is his cool uncle-wannabe and main rival as Cool Bug Facts expert

Send me an AU and I’ll give you 5+ headcanons about it
So an anon asked for 5+ about a ‘Raditz lives’ AU. I pulled a bit from both canon and Team Four Star; I hope I did it justice! 1) It, a little ironically starts in Hell, after one of the many times that Goku falls off of Snake Way. Raditz approaches him cautiously but determined. He’d peeked in on Prince Vegeta and Nappa from his place in Hell and he knows they don’t plan on bringing him back; that they never did. So Raditz offers to train Goku, to teach him about the weaknesses of the other two Saiyans so as to ensure victory. He is surprised when Goku turns him down about the weaknesses, but accepts the offer of training later, after this is all over. Raditz will soon learn this is the norm for Goku and he has to wonder how his brother lived so long. 2) Raditz watches them on Namek and his anger at Vegeta only grows. How could he ever have followed such a selfish man? [He knows why; They’d been the only known Saiyans left in Freeza’s army. They’d stuck together for safety and familiarity. Apparently nothing more and nothing less. Without him and Nappa, Vegeta is on his own and the pressure is breaking the other man.]  He also watches his nephew; curious about the child and eventually even becomes regretful at how their first encounter went. 3) When people are being wished back, no one is more surprised than Raditz when Goku both refuses to come back to Earth and instead suggests that they revive Raditz instead. Exactly /how/ they were all convinced to go through with this, honestly no one could say; but it happens and now Raditz is alive on Earth and so horribly displaced he doesn’t know where to start.  Chi-Chi takes over at that point, grabbing hold of his ear to give him what for for kidnapping Gohan and /technically/ for kick-starting all of this mess. As he is lectured, this somehow winds up with him moving in into their home and agreeing to help out around the place. He....honestly is not sure how that was arranged. His sister-in-law is much like a female Saiyan and more than once Raditz has to wonder how they even got married to begin with. [He sees it though, when Goku finally comes home. Goku and Chi-Chi are near inseparable for hours and there is deep love and affection in their hugs and touches and words.] 4) In the meantime before Goku finally comes back, Raditz finds himself facing a problem. Namely that his nephew is afraid of him (though for admittedly good reason) and that a wannabe demon king is constantly swiping Gohan away for training. Chi-Chi is also irritated at this but for different reasons.  Eventually, Raditz challenges Piccolo on taking all of Gohan’s time as well as his training of the boy and Chi-Chi also steps in to argue about her son’s schooling. Somehow this winds up with them working out a rough schedule where Gohan would have schooling in the morning and then train with either Piccolo or Raditz in the afternoon, with the odd day off here and there to rest. They polish it over time and sometimes even group up if there’s need for it or it’s manageable.  5) To his own surprise, Raditz finds that he likes teaching Gohan martial arts as well as other subjects. (Why is everyone so surprised that he’s great at maths? Is Earth’s space travel ability seriously /that/ low?) Through Chi-Chi’s insistence, this is how Raditz finds work; through both Master Roshi and Bulma.  Master Roshi still has connections in the world of martial arts and so sets Raditz up with a teaching job in a friend’s dojo; Raditz also becomes a roving instructor, mostly going around to let people break themselves against him because they no longer can safely fight other humans/any of the other races on Earth. His services quickly become in demand for both occupations. Bulma also hires him on as a consultant for Capsule Corps. Between his knowledge and Vegeta’s (they’re still on very awkward terms but Capsule Corps is agreed neutral ground), her company is making /massive/ leaps forward in advancing Earth’s technology and the overall quality of life for everyone. Raditz winds up giving most of his pay to Chi-Chi; he’s not quite sure what else to do with it for now and besides, it feels nice to help out in other ways besides just getting firewood or hunting or doing any of a variety of other chores. 6) When Goku does return and that strange boy from the future leaves (after giving Raditz a very weird look, obviously confused as to who he was; Raditz was more confused why the kid had the faint smell of Vegeta and the stronger smell of Bulma but Piccolo tells him everything later that day, when they’re talking about Gohan’s training schedule. Raditz has /never/ laughed so hard or long his his life, ever!) and all the talking is over and done with, the first thing Raditz does the following morning is punch his little brother in the face, hard enough to send him tumbling through a pair of trees. Goku just pops back up with a laugh and charges him with a shoulder slam after shaking the leaves out of his hair. They spar until Chi-Chi comes out to call them for lunch, her trusty frying pan in hand as an unneeded just in case.  Their little home is strange but it works and Raditz can’t think of anywhere else he’d rather be now.

Misc Headcanons
I’ll probably expand on these more another time in their own post, but I figured I’d post a list of miscellanous headcanons that I’ve had in mind for awhile now.
Under a read more so it doesn’t take up as much space.
Part of the reason Gary is mean to Ash is partially out of jealously for Ash’s family life.  While Ash’s father is absent, he has a very supportive mother who loves him.  Gary though, has neither of his parents present.  Both likely having chosen to focus on their dreams rather than being parents.  While he does have his grandfather and sister, his sister isn’t much older to being playing a parental role to him and his grandfather doesn’t seem to prioritize him much over the other trainers of Pallet Town.  As he got older and learned from his own journey, he holds less resentment towards Ash for having a ‘better’ home life than him.
As he gets older, Cain Hargreaves’ eye sight gets to the point where he should wear glasses.  Despite difficulty seeing things though, he refuses to get glasses because he doesn’t want to resemble Alexis even more and feel as though he is looking at his father everytime he looks in a mirror.
Not really a headcanon, but an AU where Sayu somehow obtained the Death Eraser.  Still with her not knowing that Light was Kira, so she indirectly undoes some of what her brother did (Not all cause of the murderers, etc).
Despite being married to Goku for years, ChiChi still feels a bit excluded from his main group of friends, although she does not express these feelings to her husband.  Her and Bulma got a bit closer after Goku’s death in the Cell Games, since Bulma tried to be there for her friend’s family while they grieved his absence and to help keep Gohan feel as though he had a large support system.  After Goten was born, ChiChi and Bulma spent more time together to let their sons have playdates and discuss the struggles of raising 1/2 saiyans. This exclusion does help her bond with Android 18 and the other newer members of the group, since they are often in a similar position of feeling as though they do not quite fit in.
Launch ran away from her home at a young age while in her blonde state, due to problems with her parents who did not know how to handle her personality changes.  By the time the young teen had sneezed and changed back into her blue state, she was far too lost to even know how to get back home and while she loved her parents, she felt that it was for the best that she stayed away.  From that time, she remained homeless and often stayed in abandoned buildings outside of cities, where she made and broke ties with other criminals, who helped to teach her (blonde) how to be the skilled robber that she became known for.  Due to breaking these ties and running from the law, none of these temporary shelters ever lasted more than a week.   When she began staying with Master Roshi, it was the first time that she ever felt as though she had a home where she was wanted, even if they were afraid of her blonde self.  When she left to follow Tien, it was one of the hardest choices that she ever made, but she didn’t want to continue relying on the elderly man to be the reason she had a roof over her head and there was also a part of her that missed the freedom of traveling.
As a child, crowds made Gohan uncomfortable, especially with living in such a small area.  Going to a large city, like West City, instead of Roshi’s House to meet Goku’s friends would’ve likely resulted in the boy not going and therefore not getting kidnapped by Raditz.  After facing his fears during Piccolo’s training, he’s gotten over his fear of crowds for the most part, but there are still times they make him anxious. The same feelings about crowds apply to his younger sister, Chiki at that age, who continues to prefer to avoid being the center of attention as she gets older.
Pan acts nearly identical to her mother as a child, which amuses Hercule, who is the only one to really see the similarities.  She doesn’t see what he is amused by though, but doesn’t care as long as her family is happy.
While Bulla is a skilled fighter, she often plays the part of a damsel-in-distress.  Part of the reason is because she enjoys seeing her father and brother stand up for her and she enjoys seeing how quickly they’re able to intimidate others.  She also refuses to dress in a gi or typical martial arts clothes because they don’t mesh with her style, which she is not willing to compromise on.  For her, she places beauty over comfort, but will definitely get involved in a fight if necessary.
While Goten is jealous of how many toys Trunks has, how often he gets gifts, and how big his room is, Goten wouldn’t want to trade lives with his friend.  He is very happy with his family and is content with not having it all.
After joining Shanks’ crew, Aino begins to get out of her shell (Mostly because how could she not with that group).  She views them as her family and would willingly die for any of them.
Despite growing up with 3 brothers who are all strong fighters, Akiko isn’t much of a fighter.  She tries at times, but is well aware that she is not at their level.  Part of this is because she doesn’t enjoy hurting others, so she just takes what is coming at her.  Back when her brothers lived with her, one of them would usually step in and beat up anyone who hurt her.
Nojiko would quickly adopt a child if they were orphaned and needed a home.  Since she was adopted by Bellemere as a young child, she knows just how important that family was to her growing up into who she was.  Despite not being wealthy, she would make sure that they would know they were loved and had someone looking out for them, even if that love comes with plenty of teasing.
