Did you know
Yamma Yamma..R.D. Burman was not satisfied with Mohammed Rafi's singing in this song and was planning to re-record it. However, that never happened because Rafi passed away soon after the original recording. It was the only song which R.D. Burman and Rafi sang together.
The January 1980 edition of Stardust magazine stated that when Parveen Babi went to Europe with Kabir Bedi, there was no hope of her returning back to India. The only other actress who had a westernized image who could replace Parveen Babi was Simi Garewal. Ramesh Sippy verbally spoke to Simi Garewal and told her the role was hers. But Parveen Babi returned back to work and Simi was bumped out of the film.
Parveen Babi suffered her first nervous breakdown on the sets of Shaan. When she completed to shoot of the song Pyar Karnewale she got the attack. After this song there is a scene Parveen Babi is in the car, she stops the car, then Amitabh Bachchan sits in the car, this scene was shot when Parveen Babi came back from U.S.and she resumed work by shooting this scene.

This movie apparently based on an older English movie (Chase a Crooked Shadow) which was also later adopted into the Rishi Kapoor-starrer Khoj (1989; 8 years after this one). Having already seen Khoj, I sorta knew where this one was going to end - and it was more about the journey there.
And while this movie does have a fun twist that, if you haven't seen the prior movies (or any other the other various remakes), can surprise you, the plot and twist are pretty excellent even if you know what is coming. Plus, we have a pretty talented cast with Rakhee, Mithun Chakraborty, Ranjeeta, and Amjad Khan - and even a completely random song for Aruna Irani, though that entire sequence with her really proves to be a continuity nightmare and is better off ignored. I mean, the whole thing is needed to sorta build up the suspense for the audience (which might be why the approach that Khoj took was so much better), but in terms of the actual characters in the movie, it makes no sense (there is no reason, for example, for that underground, or whatever, lair). But that's a huge flaw here - the plot may work as a movie plot, but it 100% is the stupidest possible plot the police could've come up with as a way to reach their final goal. That level of disconnect makes it clear that everything was planned out simply as "how to move the movie plot forward" and not at all for "what would make theoretical sense for our characters to do if they were real, and not within a movie."
However, where this movie really lets us down is by turning Rakhee into a screaming nightmare (god, my poor ears) and Mithun into a grade A harasser. Ranjeeta at least gets a half-moment of revenge with her own song and subsequent sequence (before it is revealed to be a set-up) where she gets to show her own strength, but otherwise she's just constantly abused by Mithun - pulled this way and that, nonstop threatened, and otherwise kept under mental and physical duress.
Again, at the end, you learn what is really going on - and if you want to make her seem like she's having a psychotic break, fine, but did we really need that much yelling? Especially at the end. And speaking of which, that whole 'mental asylum' thing was WAY WAY over the top, egregious (I know, I know - 1980s), and horrific - at that point, you just want it to end so that the plight of folks with mental conditions is not further generalized into such horrific nonsense. Not denying that there weren't (aren't?) asylums like that, but still, it's a lot to show. And painful.
And coming back to Ranjeeta's character - I know this is a 1980s movie, so a love story and songs are essentially a must - but, alongside the constant physical harassment, the songs and that corny love story ending were unnecessary, if not just completely out of place. So too was the attempted laugh track with Asit Sen as the cop. I think the advantage if this movie was made today was that we would lose the unnecessary stuff and this could be a very taut, tightly executed thriller.
And finally, still on the topic of that harassment, it may have been much more palatable if instead of constantly coercing her into stuff ('cuz people are watching'), they'd just adopted a sort of "she knows it is Ashok, but she's having a hard time accepting it because he's been presumed dead for 3 years." In that case, her hesitation and distance, even after recognizing him, would be completely justified. Trying to play it off as "she recognizes him as Ashok and should immediately be back in love" is a dumb angle to take - she's mourned him for 3 years; there's no way she'd immediately accept him without some doubts. But instead of giving her this sort of redeemable track, in which Mithun could be trying to woo her with his solo song, they just have him forcibly grab her all the time and force her to act like nothing has changed despite Ashok being gone for 3 years. Yeah, not a fan of how they portrayed that track at all - which, again, was better handled by the plot we got in Khoj.
Rakhee lives in a such a massive mansion and yet only has 3 servants, which is probably why she's gotten used to always yelling - they're so freaking far away from her at all times. She's essentially yelling from that first night we see her, and it doesn't end until the movie is over.
It's not a perfect movie - the flaws are listed above (and again below), and they really screw over Ranjeeta's character from start to finish - and it may not even compare favorably to the later-made Khoj, which is based on the same story. But even with that said, if you can sit thru the horrible abuse of a grieving/shock/mistreated young woman, the yelling, the poor laugh track, and the unnecessary songs (I mean, I guess they were like 'we have Mithun and he's gotta have a dance'), the plot is a pretty good suspense plot (even with the 'secret papers' macguffin) for the movie, even if the in-movie plot created by the police is an absolute clusterfuck.

My Second Cinema Experience
As I perambulate around in the memoirs of my childhood, the memory of my second cultural outing fills me with delirious joy, in a time when the world was simpler, the pace relaxed and the neon was brighter. It was an epiphanic moment that transpired six months following my maiden fiasco, where my technical know-how in the world of visual storytelling was put to the test. But this time around, I was accompanied by a wealthy entourage of distinguished erudite persons, including maternal and avuncular figures, at the Swapan puri-the edifice of dreams of Bansberia-a picturesque township in the district of Hooghly.

Our destination was none other than the silver screen to partake in one of the then cinematic masterpieces, 'Lawaris' (The Orphan Guy), a blockbuster that had hit the silver screens in the year 1981. The cinematic masterpiece was crafted under the deft aegis of maven director, Mr. Prakash Mehra, and boasted arresting performances by thespian stalwarts, including Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman, Amzad Khan and Rakhee Gulzar.

As we ventured down the marbled passages, I could feel a tingle of excitement course through my veins. The posters plastered on the walls beckoned, promising scenes of action and adventure, romance, and comedy. The sound of the crowd hummed in the air, vibrant and alive with anticipation.
We found our seats, and I settled in, eager to experience what the legendary Lawaris had to offer. As the lights went down, the excitement in the theatre was palpable. The audience sat still, their breaths held, as the story of Lawaris unfolded in all its glory.
As the credits rolled, I was bewitched by the peppy, foot-tapping melodies comprising the earsplitting auditory hooks, such as 'Mere Aangne Mein Tumhara Kya Kaam Hai' and 'Apni To Jaisi Taisi', phrasing an aesthetic and boisterous marquee, arpeggiated by the musical prowess of the lyrical duo of India, Kalyanji Anandji . The musical score simulated spectral rhymes and induced jerky spasms in my fledgling self, prompting me to flounce and gyrate euphorically along with the beats of the hypnotic soundtrack, despite it having a seat reserved in my name.
Despite my tender years, the nonpareil performance of the formidable lead, Amitabh Bachchan, left an indelible impression on my young mind. Every move he made, every expression that graced his face, was etched in my memory, imprinting an image of a confident, self-assured being, untouchable in his prowess.
As the plot thickened, the exhilarating climax of the frenzy-thickened tale where the protagonist, Heera, administered a beating of biblical proportions to a horde of fearsome protagonists, evoked a debonair composure in the protagonist, a countenance bereft of any vulnerability, in stark contrast to the protagonist of my prior cinematic encounter.
All in all, my second cinematic indulgence had become a real eye-opener, striking a chord with my nascent self and fanning the flames of my imagination. The balletic amalgam of colourful choreography, resplendent melodies and thespian theatrics had effaced the ennui from my existence and left me yearning for more cinematic marvels- a feeling that persisted throughout my life into adulthood. It is a testament to the power of cinema to transport us to other worlds, other times, and make us feel alive; a legacy that lives on, year after year, drawing in audiences young and old, and leaving them with unforgettable memories.

Body of lies movie 2008 is this based on a true story
Tumblr media
The film opens up about the political and social influence in our Judiciary system and the lack of justice to the rape victims, especially in the remote villages, where conservative village elders are still holding the charge for judgments, despite the fact that the Gram Panchayats are not allowed to interfere in Judicial matters. Directed by Jag Mundhra, the film stars Nandita Das in the lead role of Sanwari, the character based on Bhanwari Devi. Bawandarīawandar is a 2000 Indian biographical film based on the life of a gang rape victim Bhanwari Devi from Bhateri, Rajasthan. Border is one of the Best films on Indian Army and their Lifeat the Border. Although a full-on action film, the film also had some great songs penned by the great Javed Akhtar and composed by Anu Malik. With a multi-star cast of Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshay Khanna, Pooja Bhatt, Tabu, Rakhee and many others, the film was a great tribute to the war heroes of 1971 Indo-Pakistani war. Dutta, the film is said to be one of those films that triggered the patriotic side of every Indian. Best Bollywood Movies about True Stories and Real Life Events 83īorder is an Indian war film based on the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Note : There is a whole list of Bollywood Biopic Movies which are also based on Real life, you can check that also. However, I would recommend everyone in India to take some time out and watch the following list of top Bollywood films based on real-life events. If we could make this world a better place or not, is a question that can only be answered with time. If yes, then can we change and help make this world a better place! Although movies are produced for entertainment, such reality-based films actually inspire us and make us ask the most important question, which is whether we are bothered or not. Hence, only a few filmmakers take their chances and try to present these real-life events on the silver screen for the audience to see a clear picture. The only flaw with making such films based on reality is simply the fact that such films create controversies as the real-life events on which the film is based wouldn’t be any normal day-to-day issue but an event that may be linked to a huge scandal, mystery, terrorist attack, etc. Most of the movies are freshly written, while there are many which are inspired by famous books or themes.īeing said that, you can also come across a few films every year based on real-life events.
