Year 1641
TW/CW: Death Mention
Tumblr media
Antonio also grew into a lovely little boy at the start of the year surrounded by his family. As he grew it was ever clearer that it was hard to tell which parent he took more after. Vincente and Orion would joke about which one of them their son took more after but ultimately they were happy that their little boy was growing well. Unfortunately the joy didn't last as Karmine passed away in mid-February just over a month shy of Francesco's thirteenth birthday.
Tumblr media
Following the death of Karmine and helping his younger cousins get on their feet without their mother, Felipe returned to Tartosa to spend time with Giulia and her sisters though it was Giulia and Giovanni that had the extra space for their visitor.
Tumblr media
Giovanni enjoyed having Felipe over for a time as he did find the company of the young man relatively pleasant but he was annoyed that Felipe never really helped around the house during his stay. He just chatted and took attention from him and his wife that he could use on the crops or other handiwork. Still Felipe did know when he overstayed his welcome and by June he had left to return home to his own family.
Tumblr media
In July, Tala's niece from her brother came to live with them following the death of her mother. She was saddened that her half-sister was living elsewhere but was uncertain of living in Tartosa with an Aunt and cousins she had never met before as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Veniera was quick to warm up to their new household member, Felicita did not want her cousin to take her mother's attention from her. She already had a sister for that and would often bite when Raquel came close to her but after she caught Raquel crying in the bathroom Felicita finally asked her what was wrong to which she answered that she missed her mom and sister and her home and that she didn't want to live with her Aunt but had nowhere else to go. When Felicita thought about how she would feel if she was separated from her sisters and mother and made to live with a stranger she started to cry but quickly decided that she could at least share sisterhood with her cousin and declared that Raquel and her could be new sisters. Though Raquel appreciated her cousin's sentiments and it did help her feel more at home in Tartosa she still missed her old life dearly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But little by little, Felicita and Veniera helped her to heal to the best of their abilities by talking with her and showing her love and the best care an almost six year old and three year old could provide.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By August, Giulia and Giovanni's home was invaded once more by another one of Giulia's cousins, Isabella this time. The Morosini home was used as a meetup place where Isabella met with Ferdinando's widow after the loss of her husband that June. The two had been exchanging letters since getting in contact through Talia's Tome years ago and now they finally met in person.
Tumblr media
The two made sure they were alone and wasted no time getting to know each other the way they had been hoping to for quite some time. Sadie's son didn't care either way about his mother's new lover as he was mostly concerned about the new town and would frequently get their attentions anyways.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Isabella and Sadie were "exploring the town" or "running errands", Giulia and Giovanni were more than happy to care for Sadie's little boy. They loved having a child in the home that was actually here to stay though Giovanni did resent that another person's child was sleeping in the bed he had hoped his own kid would sleep in one day but despite continually trying, there was still no hint of Giulia getting pregnant.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Life felt short as Sadie's brother passed in the war in September and so early in October while Giulia and Giovanni were taking care of their chickens and the garden, Isabella proposed to Sadie that even if they couldn't officially marry she wanted to spend her life with Sadie. To her delight, Sadie readily agreed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While they suspected that at least Giulia knew of their true relationship, Isabella and Sadie still had to sneak around to find little moments where they could show affection with one another as it wasn't as if their relationship would be accepted by all. Still, it was as if each day they fell further and further in love with each other.
Tumblr media
By mid-November what little patience they had ran out and the pair secretly swore that while the church, their families and perhaps even the world may not recognize it as legitimate, they would love and cherish each other as wives for the rest of their lives.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not a week after Sadie and Isabella's secret elopement, Felicita turned six.
Tumblr media
Veniera spent most of her time playing with Giulia's chicken who made a point of somehow finding her way all the way at their home as a regular guest. Giulia had no clue how it happened but whenever she was a chicken short she could count on the thing being at her childhood home with her baby sister.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Felicita officially being older, she and Raquel spent time down by the water. While it was cold being December, neither girl particularly minded as they talked about everything under the sun from Raquel feeling for her losses, which was more thoughtful to speak of as time had given Felicita a bit more insight than she had when she was five, to sand castles logistics.
Tumblr media
With the girls getting older and the older two spending more time together and out of the house, Tala was enjoying being able to spend more one on one time with her youngest like she had with Felicita. As much as she enjoyed knowing her girls had each other for company, it was nice to finally have the ability to dote on her daughter individually as well now that Felicita had outgrown her clingy toddlerhood phase.

Year 1652
Tumblr media
The year hadn't even truly began when the all too familiar labor pains hit Giulia once again.
Tumblr media
Giuliano Morosini was born on January 2nd in the early hours of the morning. Giulia was more than content to celebrate the birth of her hopefully final child.
Tumblr media
Giovanni was delighted to have a second surviving son especially as he wouldn't need to fret too much over future arrangements for him as he would with his daughters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Giuseppe grew up and despite his parent's fears of losing him to the winter illness passed around that year, spring came and he was running after his sisters all the same tiring himself out that he often didn't bother going to the bed to sleep.
Tumblr media
Giuliano grew into a lovely little boy, Giulia wondered where he inherited a lot of his features from since she was having trouble placing them but Giovanni mentioned that he himself was surprised by how much the kids took after his father when he himself had taken after his mother. Giulia figured that answered that.
Tumblr media
With his maternal family, Antonio celebrated his thirteenth birthday.
Tumblr media
Osana celebrated her sixth birthday as well surrounded by her siblings. Giovanni was astounded by how much she took after him but she had no interest in getting into the dirt of the farm as she was horrified of grime and creepy crawlie bugs. Giulia laughed seeing as she was just as squeamish as her aunt Felicita.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Osana was a great help around the house, more so than Orsolina, that she would clean messes between her lessons that her little sisters and brother made while Giulia tended to the baby.
Tumblr media
July also brought with it, betrayal. Beverly was horrified when her son who was betrothed to Felicita left town for a week only to return married, his wife very obviously pregnant, and she was a Laurent. He had been keeping their romance a secret for sometime but when the pregnancy was obvious they ran off to elope. In a way Beverly was glad that her first grandchild was not to be a bastard but he had obligations to the Carlisles and the fact that he married a Laurent was not to be ignored. Felicita wasn't exactly emotionally attached to her betrothed so it hardly mattered though she did wonder what that meant for her own future. Tala was pissed as it meant that her efforts to see her daughter wed to a nobleman were for naught as he was already married she wanted her girl to rise above their station. But there was little to do aside from turn their attentions from the wedding that wasn't even supposed to happen for a few more years to Tina's eighteeth birthday that October.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While the broken arrangement for her sister was hot gossip around town, now that Giulia only had one infant to care for and two older children she felt she could finally breathe again and took more of an interest in her children beyond struggling to get all their needs met. Though it was nice that Giuseppe was such an independent boy.

Year 1649
TW/CW: Death Mention, Child Death
Tumblr media
The start of the year proved rather uneventful which would have been a bore for the young ladies of the Carlisle household but after the years of war, no news really was good news.
Tumblr media
Between lessons that they sometimes shared with the young Morosini girls, the Carlisle-Robles ladies practiced the skills that would likely actually be relevant to them once they grew into adults. Felicita heard nothing about her brother from her mother but she didn't want to move to hastily as it was news for everyone in the home not just her.
Tumblr media
May came around and brought with it news that Sadie and Isabella's youngest daughter passed away. They didn't provide details and honestly, no one wanted to ask if they didn't wish to share. But for Tala it was the push she needed to broach the subject with her daughter about Vincente's son. While Tala still wasn't fully accepting of the idea of meeting her husband's ex and love child but she didn't want to deny her daughter the chance to get to know her brother so after telling her about Antonio's existence they agreed to write a response back to get the kids in touch with each other through letters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Orsa and Orelia definitely grew into their own features more as they grew up enough so that it was easy to tell them apart at a glance but Giulia still kept them in the same colors that they had been in as infants mostly because she found it cute.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of the twins Orsa got along more with both of her older sisters while Osana was close to both twins and Orsolina.
Tumblr media
The year drew to a close with Raquel celebrating her eighteenth birthday quietly at home. Maybe it was all the years in the garden surrounded by the tranquility of Tartosa but she developed a deep love for the outdoors as she entered adulthood.

Year 1648 - Part 2
TW/CW: Death Mention, Infant Death
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
July brought with it tragedy as just four days before his first birthday, Vincente and Orion's youngest passed away in his sleep. The hits didn't stop there as Ramon's surviving son also passed in the war with news reaching them just a few weeks later. Vincente felt like his happy life with Orion was crumbling down around him and found himself placing the blame for the loss of their son on her shoulders.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Orion did not stand for being accused of playing any role in the death of their infant son and told him off to the point where Vincente could feel the sting of her words. The feeling felt somewhat familiar.
Tumblr media
He wandered the streets like a lost man as he tried to avoid Orion following the funeral.
Tumblr media
It was during one of his walks that he met a strange man that Vincente felt drawn to. The man introduced himself as Robert but from the way he stumbled over the syllables it was obviously not his name. Vincente knew the moment Robert opened his mouth that he was a foreigner so he assumed that he had taken up a new name to fit in better with the locals. Vincente found himself spending the entire day with him into the early hours of the next morning just spending time with Robert.
Tumblr media
The more time the pair spent together, the more Vincente felt butterflies in his stomach. He hadn't felt the same with any of his previous wives and he had loved them, at least he thought he did before Robert.
Tumblr media
The feelings were blatantly mutual and Vincente wondered what kind of life Roger had led in that he was so comfortable showing a romantic side of affection towards another man. Even Vincente was had reservations in his mind, internal fears about the mere concept.
Tumblr media
But at least around Robert all the fears vanished from his mind because it felt right. More right than anything had ever felt before.
Tumblr media
It was late August when Orion decided to confront Vincente on the fact that he had been spending days away from home when he still had a son and her waiting on him. With Orion, Vincente had toned down on his drinking and on his behaviors from back home but while this would have been no surprise to his other family, she had never seen this side to him. Something about Orion's phrasing let him place what was so familiar to him about the situation. She sounded just like Tala which he mentioned in a fit before he realized the words that came out his mouth, that he had revealed that that was why he left her and not that she had died like he had let Orion believe.
Tumblr media
Orion paused. What did he mean that he left her? She had died. He told her that herself when she asked about his past but from the way he was scrambling his words... that was a lie. What else was a lie?
Tumblr media
At that Orion blew up the grief from her son's loss, the blame her love was unjustly laying at her feet, the lies, his absence, the discovery that she was the other woman to his real marriage, she was disgusted with the man in front of her and with herself for ever trusting him.
Tumblr media
Her mother came to check on the commotion outside which led to the deflation of Orion's anger as her hurt heart sought her mother's comfort and she told Vincente to just leave her be. Vincente did leave hurt that he had hurt another person close to him in a way he hadn't really intended to but also it was a relief that unlike Tala, Orion wasn't threatening murder as he was made to leave.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the break from Orion, Vincente finally felt less reserved in his love for Robert. He needed a fresh start and Robert was there to assuage his broken heart and offer a solution.
Tumblr media
Robert revealed the truth about himself that he wasn't actually human but that he was visiting from another planet on a mission to study otherworlds and their life. Vincente hardly believed it until he proved himself. At finally being convinced, Vincente learned that Robert's real name was Rytryx and he was actually planning on returning home to his world soon. Vincente felt things were moving too fast. How could Rytryx leave when they were finally starting something? Which is where his solution came in as Rytryx offered Vincente what Vincente had dreamed of since he was a child, to join him in the stars.
Tumblr media
Vincente thought of what was left for him on Earth. His parents had died long ago as had most of his children, his wives all hated him but his two children that he cared for were fine with their mothers. It took less than a minute for Vincente to decide to follow Rytryx to his home planet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Vincente planned out what to take with him to abandon another family for a new one with Rytryx, Giulia was growing closer with her elder daughters. Giulia still couldn't believe how fast they grew when she wasn't looking, looking at her girls she felt the meaning of the phrase the days are long but the years are short as things hadn't yet eased up following the birth of the twins but things were changing, her girls were growing.
Tumblr media
Then Felicita's birthday came almost a month after the end of the war and she was officially a teenager which was more of a reason to celebrate. She looked so much like her mother and while Giulia felt her hairstyle didn't exactly suit her she made sure not to mention it as she was clearly emulating Tala.
Felicita was delighted to finally be old enough to fit in a bit better with the Ruano girls as being the youngest was making her feel a bit left out. It wasn't the best aspect of her personality but age had made her natural jealous streak grow stronger though age had also meant that what she was jealous over shifted from when she was younger to the point that she felt that it made her more mature.
Tumblr media
With Raquel's seventeenth birthday also being around the same time as Felicita's thirteenth, Tala pulled her aside to let her know that she was not going to force her into any marriage like what had happened to Giulia but that she would allow her niece the chance to find her own partner for a few years before stepping in to assure her future as she wanted the best for her. Raquel was once again floored by her aunt's kindness in that she wasn't going to be married off right away for being an extra kid that Tala didn't necessarily ask to take in, a part of her wondered when she would overstay her welcome but Tala was more than happy to have her stay as long as she liked.
Tumblr media
It was late into the year when Felicita intercepted a letter for Tala from some woman by the name of... Orion. Felicita found the name to be strange but couldn't contain her curiosity and read the letter herself. Orion admitted that she had to ask around to find where to send the letter but that Felicita's father had been her lover for the past few years before she learned of Tala's existence and threw out Vincente. Felicia also learned that Orion and Vincente had two sons the younger of which died earlier in the year but that meant that she had a brother she had never met before. It was exciting but Felicita wondered how her mother would react so she held on to the letter for a few days before making a choice.
Tumblr media
She decided to tell Giulia about the letter while Tina and Tala fussed over Giulia's girls to give her a break. Giulia wasn't surprised to hear that their father had abandoned another one of his children and other than the basic information that he was alive and shamed away to Lord knows where, Giulia found that she had no real interest in Vincente's exploits. What was more interesting to the two of them was their little brother Antonio. Felicita debated penning a letter herself to introduce herself to him and connect with their long lost baby brother but in that statement she let it slip that she hadn't yet shown the letter to Tala to which Giulia chewed out her little sister for stealing their mother's letters. Felicita defended herself by saying Tala may have just burned the letter since it was proof that their father was even worse than a deadbeat drunk who abandoned his family but that he was guilty of doing it serially. Giulia conceded the point that if Felicita hadn't stolen it they may not have known of their brother but that the point of stealing being wrong still stood.
Tumblr media
With that Giulia took down the return post for Orion so that if they chose to write their brother they could if Tala burned the letter. They ended the year with Felicita leaving the resealed letter where Tala could find it and wondering what the next year would bring if they managed to contact their brother's mother.

Year 1648 - Part 1
Tumblr media
At the start of the year, little Osana grew up looking more and more like her father each day to Giovanni's delight.
Tumblr media
Giulia was hit with waves of false labor alarmingly early which did not ease her worries that had resurfaced from her first pregnancy loss before Osana though she was too far along now for it to pass so easily.
Tumblr media
But it was February when true labor began and it was early still but not alarmingly so. Enough that the midwife was convinced that Giulia had truly been carrying multiples.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their suspicions proved correct when on February 14th, four years to the day of Giulia's youngest sister's passing, Giulia delivered twin daughters. The girls were named Orsa and Orelia as Giulia and Giovanni found they liked the pattern of naming their daughters with the letter O.
Tumblr media
Giovanni couldn't help but feel blessed that in the time of war where most families had lost someone and when most children did not survive, he had four living children. The more daughters they had, the more Giovanni wondered if his wife could even produce a son but either way now that they had twins he was happy to wait a little more before trying again. He simply didn't have the energy to keep up with four children all under the age of four that this point let alone more. He could also tell that the last birth had taken it's toll on Giulia in that she had hardly slept the last few months and that was even before the twins arrived.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Giovanni's assessment of his wife was spot on as most of her days were spent running herself ragged following behind the older girls and tending to the newborns. Thankfully the twins hardly fussed and Osana was a relatively independent child content to play with her big sister but sleep was a scarcity in the Morosini home.
Tumblr media
Following the revelation of Ramon's several illegitimate children, Tina found joy in connecting with her other siblings through Talia's tome. Her surviving brother had become a father of his own twins that March and it was hard for Tina to think of being an aunt but it was also nice to know that she wasn't alone especially as most of her siblings had lost some of their own siblings, it was nice to discover a new connection.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Orsa and Orelia grew into themselves more as time passed and while they weren't identical, they were very similar in appearance. So while their eye color gave away their identity, Giulia and Giovanni decided that while their personalities were mostly calm, Orsa would be in green and Orelia in yellow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Life in Tartosa was still calm for the ladies of the Carlisle-Ruano household as they spent most of their days either studying lessons. Raquel and Tina couldn't believe how much they learned from Talia's tome especially considering that normally their 'lessons' would be in tending house for when they inevitably got married in the future but while Tina found she enjoyed the lessons, Raquel was less interested though, she was growing older and hoping to branch out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though Orsa seemed to detest being held by anyone, Orelia didn't seem to mind all that much. Giovanni joked that they now could tell their daughters apart because of it, the one who protested being held was Orsa and the one who was aware of being an infant who could barely hold her own head up was Orelia.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While taking care of four girls was tiring at least that was the extent of their problems, Giulia remembered hearing how she had been jealous of her younger siblings when she was young but her girls thankfully were happy to coexist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They tried not to choose favorites among their children but that didn't stop their kids from having favorites of their own. Orsolina continued following after her Papa while Osana was happy to keep her mother company when she wasn't trying to explore on her own. The twins had yet to choose a favorite but Giulia was always there to give them attention so it was a treat for Giovanni to spoil them each night.
Tumblr media
Giulia appreciated the break that Giovanni provided her with the girls but she was starting to hate that their roles with the girls had been divided into her being the sole disciplinarian and him being the fun parent who plays games and takes them through the town. Though with how tired she was, she didn't have the energy to change the dynamic they had found themselves in.

Year 1644
TW/CW: Child Death, Death Mention, Miscarriage
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Still reeling from the news that Hestor and her newborn daughter had died the previous December, more loss hit the Carlisle family as a housefire claimed the life of young Veniera on the 14th of February.
Tumblr media
Tala couldn't believe it that her youngest was gone so soon. Though she hoped that at least her spirit would keep Giacomo and Osana's spirits company wherever they had passed on to.
Tumblr media
Giulia was devastated by the loss of her little sister especially as she anticipated the arrival of her own little one. It scared her to think about the loss of a child and the idea of losing the child within her as well filled her mind.
Tumblr media
The older girls in the Carlisle home did their best to keep busy as they mourned the loss of Veniera the best they could. They were heartbroken but they also wanted to stay strong for each other.
Tumblr media
Giulia did her best to support her sister and her sister's cousin as she tried to push her own fears from her mind. At least the other girls were spared from the fire which was a blessing.
Tumblr media
Tala was grateful for the support from her oldest in the wake of the younger one's loss. As Giulia approached the end of her pregnancy, Tala did her best to move on from her loss to best support her daughter with her pregnancy.
Tumblr media
It was mid May when Giulia felt the pains of early labor for the first time. Tala rushed over and spent the next few hours shooing Giovanni from being a bother to the laboring Giulia and having the girls help out around the Morosini home as Tala talked Giulia through her pains. Tala could at the very least support her daughter through the birth of her first baby.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was afternoon on May 18th that Orsolina Morosini was born. She was named after Giovanni's late mother and thankfully for the entire family, she was born perfectly healthy.
Tumblr media
Despite mentioning from the start of their marriage about how much he wanted a son, Giovanni was truly in love with his daughter. He had never seen a child so lovely and was determined to do the best for her.
Tumblr media
Giulia was grateful that following the birth she hardly had to do any work as after Raquel and Felicita finished their lessons and work around their own garden they would go up the hill to help out with the Morosinis. Giulia was even impressed to find meals taken care of and while Felicita was determined to take credit it was clear that the nearly-teenaged Raquel was the true cook. The love her family had for her was so evident in all the rest she could have having given birth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Orsolina grew up into a lovely infant over the next few months who was such an active child her parents were even more confident of her health. Often times Giovanni would be on the floor with her after working the gardens or going out hunting, he was determined to spend time with his little one.
Tumblr media
But with all the extra time on their hands to really focus on their new little family and not the housework, despite their troubles having Orsolina, it was very little surprise that Giulia was expecting again by the end of summer.
Tumblr media
Giulia was excited to have another child though she did worry about the added work of going from one child to two and having to restart her own housework soon since it simply wasn't sustainable to have the girls keep helping out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though that was a problem for the future. For the time being, Giovanni and Giulia were enjoying being new parents to their daughter and expecting their second child. Giovanni was hopeful that this time they would have a son and the pair spent the late hours of the afternoon while their daughter slept whispering sweet nothings to each other and discussing names for their future child.
Tumblr media
Giovanni even after learning about the new pregnancy was still entranced by his young daughter, he knew that some men tended to focus more on their sons and while yes, he did have a preference, he wasn't going to show favoritism when his son arrived.
Tumblr media
In early November, Raquel celebrated her thirteenth birthday with the entire Tartosa family by her side. After the losses of the year, Tala decided that she had been too lax about looking into Raquel's sister and decided that she would see if she could bring her younger sister into the family as well to reunite the pair. Raquel was absolutely overtaken with gratitude that her aunt was willing to take in a child that wasn't her own relative for her sake. Tala knew the girl was with her father but... she wondered if it was right to keep siblings separated. She would talk more with Ramon later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It felt like a weight had dropped on the bubble of happiness that Giulia had been living with following the birth of her daughter when, just a few days after Raquel's celebration, she had awoken to blood and cramping. Giovanni had rushed with Giulia to get the midwife leaving Orsolina with Tala, only to be told that the pregnancy had been lost. The couple returned home with a silent melancholy shared between them that neither wished to bring up.
Tumblr media
Giovanni wondered if perhaps they had been too greedy, chasing the high that came with the addition of a new family member that had caused such a devastating loss. They still had plenty to be grateful for as their daughter, oblivious to her parent's loss, was still just as much of a light in their lives even if their loss had made the rest of their days darker.

Year 1655
Tumblr media
The year was ushered in with the continued grief from Giuseppe's loss as the mood in the house was still low, the girls were beginning to move on though it was hard to find the energy to do much without it feeling wrong to be joyful again.
Tumblr media
Giulia laid in bed when Giuliano didn't need care and there was no food to make. Somehow it was easier to function when there was funeral plans to be had but it just felt like loss was all around her as she received news of her cousins losses from their respective families.
Tumblr media
But it was no surprise that the younger children began to move on first as they began to return to the normal habits they had before Giuseppe's passing by the time spring rolled around.
Tumblr media
As if the twins' response was permission for things to shift for the positive over the next few weeks of spring the older girls felt the fog of despair lift and with it came more reason for Giulia to be out of bed with her children.
Tumblr media
Following the death of his wife, the arranged engagement between the Ludovici heir and Felicita was back on and in June the two married making Felicita officially a Ludovici.
Tumblr media
The marriage of her sister made Giulia realize that she was going through the motions again rather than living in the moment, she hadn't wanted to be so detached but it was a wake-up call that she was missing out and she wanted to make up for that by taking the children out to town to do things each day. Of course, some of her children decided to take advantage of their mother's guilt but Giulia was fine with occasionally giving in every now and then.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tala was excited every time she got word of Tina's life from Raquel, not that she didn't write Tala but the sisters were very clearly closer. It was a shame to hear that Tina's father-in-law had passed not long after learning she was expecting and worse yet that her mother-in-law passed in early December as Tina was nearly due to deliver. Raquel decided that she would go to her sister to help her with her future little niece or nephew. It saddened Tala to let her niece go to her sister but with Felicita secretly announcing to her mother and sister of her own pregnancy, Tala was determined to be there for her daughter in her time of need and Tina needed her sister so there was little to say on the matter.
Tumblr media
Maybe it was the loss or the changes going on in the family with Raquel leaving Tartosa, Felicita getting married and expecting her first, but there was a shift in the Morosini household by the end of the year where family was more important than pride. They had lost too much and been apart for too long despite being under the same roof. After four years of not exactly being on speaking terms, Giovanni and Giulia began to talk to each other again, pleasantries and small talk but more than they had in years.

Year 1653
TW/CW: Death Mention
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The year began with Tina getting a visit from Faustina which was odd as she had been widowed for sometime and her married son had gone to Henford to check out his father's home with his wife and brother so she had no need of a midwife.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Instead she spoke about how the Laurent family had no appreciation for one of their own marrying a Markovic and that if there were complications in the birth and any tragedy as a result of those complications would not be held over her and she would be compensated for her troubles. Tina was shocked at the obvious implications to sabotage the birth that she was hearing. Faustina mentioned that she should think on it before she left.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well Tina did think on it and she found the idea reprehensible when she gathered her jaw of the ground. She immediately went to the Markovic head to inform her that her daughter-in-law and unborn grandchild had a target over their heads from the Laurent family. Beverly was shocked that the Laurent head had officially taken steps to assassinate his sister given that they were siblings but the assassination attempt by the Laurent family wasn't entirely unexpected either. Neither family was happy with the union her fool son and daughter-in-law had made for themselves after all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the midwife, Tina attended the birth of Leonardo Ludovici on January 23rd but her confession sadly led to the execution of Faustina for the attempt on Aubrie and the Ludovici baby's lives not two days after.
Tumblr media
Giovanni was happy that his children were young so that none of them would be involved with the nonsense that was occurring between the Markovics and the Laurents especially as the Laurents began to be more hostile following Faustina's death.
Tumblr media
Giuliano grew into a sweet child and if Giulia had felt refreshed after Giuseppe becoming a toddler, Giuliano growing out of his infant like state made her feel positively heavenly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Still having four young children came with its own sets of challenges especially since they were all so unique but it was a challenge Giulia was happy to rise to now that there were no infants to deal with though she did like when her children were infants it was nice to not be so overwhelmed.
Tumblr media
The older girls were a delight to work with after their lessons with Tala, Raquel, Tina and Felicita. The girls liked the break away from the little ones and with both girls being taught, it allowed the older ones to bond with each other more deeply. Giulia wondered just how the dynamics would change when the twins turned six the next year.
Tumblr media
When Felicita had her birthday that November she began to wonder about her future now that her engagement had been sidelined but Tala completely shut down the discussion on Felicita finding a match, dismissing it by saying her girl was far too young.
Tumblr media
Though Tina wasn't too young as towards the end of November she announced that she was going to head back to San Sequoia to midwife there where there was less drama, less risk of messing with nobility and her half-sister had revealed that there was a young man in town who shared a lot of similar interests so she was going to go be with her other sister in hopes of a calmer life which was entirely understandable.
Tumblr media
Still, it wasn't as if Tina was making the decision lightly. Raquel liked Tartosa and all it's drama but after her sister's information led to an execution she had seen Tina become more paranoid and she hated that. If her sister could breathe easier in a different town then so be it. The family spent one last Christmas together and two days later, Tina had set off with her things to stay with her other half-sister.

Year 1650
TW/CW: Death Mention, Infant Death
Tumblr media
The year began with sad news as Giulia learned of her maternal grandmother's passing though she tried to occupy herself with her daughters and the comforts of her husband.
Tumblr media
It seemed though that Giovanni had been a bit too comforting as it wasn't long before Giulia noticed her monthlies missing once more and a familiar sickness disrupting her sleep. She didn't want to feel ungrateful for the lack of excitement but she had been wanting a break from babies and pregnancy since Osana's birth and... well... no such luck but Giulia loved all four of her children with her whole heart and knew she would do the same with her next born.
Tumblr media
Though this time the girls were ever so slightly older than when she had gotten pregnant before in the past so it was easier in some ways but again there were four young girls who needed attention and only one tired Giulia to parent them.
Tumblr media
It was such a relief and joy when Orsolina celebrated her sixth birthday and she needed far less attention than before.
Tumblr media
Now that his daughter was older Giovanni was more willing to play an active role in parenting his child as he believed that dealing with young children was the mother's job. With an older child though, she could take guidance from him and he didn't need to do much to help with diapers or late night feedings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Given that Giulia had four young children and Tala had no young children only a young woman and teenagers in her care, Orsolina would go over to her step-grandmother's home for lessons and return home to practice what she learned. Giovanni thought it pointless for her to learn these things when she was likely never going to use it but Giulia insisted that at the very least it kept her busy during the day while she dealt with the other girls. Besides it could help her make a match higher in station and when Giovanni thought of that he did know that his late friend was a nobleman with three sons not all that much older than Orsolina. It was far too early for anything concrete but the thought was in his mind and Giulia's though she was determined that her girls would not marry as early as she did.
Tumblr media
Even with Orsolina spending most of her day with Tala or walking the long way between their homes, Giulia was drained. She wondered how she even functioned most days and as June approached, Giovanni stepped in to at least put the girls to bed so she could get off her feet though she often fell asleep in her chair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While matchmaking was a distant thought in the Morosini household, for the Carlisles it was more relevant as Felicita was nearly fifteen. The Markovic heir, though given the terms of Stefano and Beverly's marriage, the Ludovici heir, was just a teenager himself that May and with that Beverly was determined to find a match for her son and successor. Tala had wanted her girls to find a better future, ideally through love, but when Beverly asked to make a match between their children, there was no question about agreement. Though both mothers agreed that their children were far too young to actually marry yet, the betrothal was made official at the end of June.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Felicita didn't actually mind her arrangement though it was so far off that honestly, it didn't even feel real but it was fun for her to tell Raquel that she was going to be a noblewoman soon and Raquel was an adult and not even courting. Raquel knew it was all in good fun but she was starting to feel a little behind now that her younger cousin was betrothed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Orsolina was growing bigger each and everyday and while perhaps Giulia shouldn't have been lifting her around while very heavily pregnant, she wanted to savor every moment before her little girl got to big to carry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Giulia found that her older girls spent more time with her now that they were getting bigger. Giovanni, of course, was the center of attention when he wasn't working the garden or selling the crops in the market but during the day at home, they loved to lavish their Mama with attention though Giulia was a bit tired of the 'why?'s they seemed to have no end to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That being said with an older kid around, Orsolina was able to help out her mom by keeping her siblings occupied with fun little stories. Giulia loved how creative her daughter was but hoped that she would stop encouraging her sisters to make messes behind her back.
Tumblr media
September came around and Giulia felt the labor pains begin once more as she was just about to send Orsolina to Tala's home for the morning with Giovanni. The plans changed somewhat as Tala left Orsolina in the care of Felicita while she brought the older girls to help with Giulia's labor. Raquel was more than happy to entertain the younger girls downstairs while Giulia labored with Tala and Tina at her side.
Tumblr media
Giovanni came home just in time to the last stretch of Giulia's labor as just around suppertime on September 9th, Giulia delivered twin sons, Giovanni and Giuseppe. Though Giulia was showing no adverse effects aside from exhaustion, Tala had Tina run to the church to fetch a priest to bless the children as it was apparent that they were both incredibly weak to the point where Tala whispered outside the room that she would be genuinely shocked if either survived the night. Thankfully the priest came just in time to bless the boys as Tala's prediction came true for the eldest Morosini boy as baby Giovanni did not live to see midnight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Giovanni had mixed feelings about his surviving son following the funeral of Giuseppe's twin. He had desperately wanted a son but his son was so fragile that every time he slept he wondered if he would wake to find his son gone. He loved the child so deeply like he had with his daughters and yet with the flame of his life so dim, he wondered if it was worth the heartbreak to get attached denying the fact that he was already smitten with his baby boy. Even when with his daughters, his weak son was always on his mind.
Tumblr media
Giulia tried to fall into her routine for caring for the children following the birth of her sons. The pain of losing a child was so different from losing her siblings but she was determined to not fall into her grief as she had her girls and son who needed her and she needed them.
Tumblr media
Giulia might not have allowed herself to fall to grief but her son's delicate health was a source of deep anxiety for her as she constantly felt on edge about what the future might bring.
Tumblr media
As Giuseppe grew older towards the end of the year, he also grew stronger. With him getting bigger the fears of his sudden passing declined though there was still the looming threat of illness. It was a massive sigh of relief for the family that he was thriving.
Tumblr media
While the Morosinis dealt with their own worries, Tina found that despite how horrible it had been to witness the grief of her cousin through the death of their son, she enjoyed helping her through the entire process of birth. Raquel was both delighted and not surprised when Tina told her that she wished to study to be a midwife.

Year 1645
Tumblr media
The Morosini couple decided to turn their full attention to their daughter in the wake of their loss though it was hard when Isabella sent word in a letter that she and Sadie welcomed a second daughter that February.
Tumblr media
It wasn't long into spring that Raquel's younger sister and Ramon's illegitimate daughter came to live with Tala and the girls.
Tumblr media
Raquel was nervous about seeing her sister again after the years apart but Felicita assured her that Tina was likely feeling the exact same.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whatever worries the Carlisle household in Tartosa had about Tina's arrival were gone the moment the child walked through the threshold. After an initial awkward phase of getting to know each other, it was as if they had been together all their lives. Tala was especially glad that Felicita was just as welcome in the other girl's sisterhood as Raquel had been with Felicita and Veniera.
Tumblr media
Giovanni could feel his age creeping up on him but it was fine with little Orsolina as she was fairly content with napping in her father's arms.
Tumblr media
Antonio celebrated his sixth birthday with his family in San Sequoia, like his maternal family, oblivious to his older sisters lives.
Tumblr media
While the family prepared for their daughter to outgrow most of her infancy habits, Giulia was both happy and surprised to discover that she was once again with child.
Tumblr media
Orsolina grew up taking quite a bit after her mother at least in Giovanni's eyes. Her parents were relieved that her good health seemed to last in terms of her wild child energy as she began to toddle around the home but the birthmark beneath her eye remained which worried them as such a prominent mark on her face would surely cause her trouble later in life.
Tumblr media
While her parents fretted over her future, Orsolina was perfectly happy ignoring their worries with the blissful ignorance of childhood.
Tumblr media
As the year came to a close, Felicita was happy to spend time with her older sister and as they discussed how now that Orsolina was older, she was more fun to play with. Giulia disagreed that babies were boring but she did admit that there was more that a bigger kid could get into. She refrained from mentioning her new pregnancy though out of fear of losing it again.
