I don't know if someone posted this a long time ago and that's why I know about it or it was cause I researched it myself but I haven't seen it around so I'm gonna post The Worlds Stinkiest Molecule

you will never see me hating a fictional character. not even once. why would I feel personal hatred for someone that doesn't exist? the worst characters can do and have ever done is frustrate me. if I don't enjoy a character at all, I will not bother spending time talking or even thinking about them. and judging a character's morality as pure or flawed (or to some people, "good or bad") simply has no bearing on whether I enjoy them as a functional *character* in a *story*. for me, the more complicated the better. if they were actually a real person affecting real people, that treatment changes drastically. it's that simple.
#this is about all fandom antis but tagging#arcane#arcane critical#(and for fun:)#yellowjackets#because i think a lot of y'all need to detach a little and calm down#my post#fandom#fandom culture#fandom critical#i feel a Certain Way about the amount of negative emotional energy people spend on things that are supposed to be entertainment#maybe save that for effective application on real world issues#in hindsight i have so many people blocked by now that many won't even see this lmao

How many Fausts do you think Noel had in the Prison Pits?
We know Arthur had one Faust during his three months in the pits (1:3). If we assume that this ratio applies to the rest of the pits, then at a rate of approximately 1 Faust per every 3 months, there would be 4 Fausts per year (1/3 x 12 = 4). We also know that Noel was in there for ten years, and so we must multiply our yearly total to find the decade total (10 x 4 = 40).
Therefore, we can assume that Noel killed and ate at least 40 Fausts during his time in the Prison Pits.

Because I am literally never not thinking about weird meta, blurring lines between reality and narrative, and the whole concept of actors becoming their characters, I am now entertaining thoughts of a Shadow of the Vampire-style story wherein a late-2010s-style all-female The Lost Boys remake gets derailed when the lead actress suddenly starts not showing up to shooting because she's sleeping all day...
#the plot still revolves around trying to figure out who the very real head vampire is (but now including everyone in the cast and crew)#but also trying to figure out what bits of vampire lore (from various sources) are actually applicable#('no that doesn't count!' 'it was in the sequel!' 'exactly why I said it doesn't count!')#and of course there's a little sister. there's got to be a little sister.#i don't know enough about moviemaking to do a story like this justice and yet. i always so badly want to#it's an all-girl remake because i'm queer and driver picks the music. hope that helps#(ngl any kind of remake/reboot made in the late 2010s/2020s would be aesthetically toothless. see the Flatliners reboot/sequel/whatever)#(so part of the happy ending on this one is the movie getting scrapped)#(the world's not ready. hollywood's not ready.)#(wait until the costume designers and makers strike and get better conditions. then we'll talk.)#the lost boys

I just finished a re-watch of Babylon 5, and I was watching it with my sister, for who this was her first time watching it. After we watched "Sleeping in the Light" she asked me " why did they blow up the station (Babylon 5)". I responded that I didn't understand the given in-universe explanation (it was obsolete and if left there would be a hazard to navigation(but wouldn't millions of small, hard to avoid pieces be more dangerous than one, large easily avoided object)), but the writers probably chose to blow it up for the symbolism of that action, and that it probably symbolized and ending, a closing of a chapter, but it also could be a beginning, the start of a new chapter. I told her that explosions can also symbolize rebirth and renewal in a way, like a phoenix, rising from the ashes. I then went off on a tangent about how the first episode was called "midnight on the firing line", and midnight is the end of one day, and the start of another, and how the final episode was call"sleeping in the Light", and was about finding peace and moving on, and how such symbolism is prevalent through-out the series.
And that was when I realized that I was applying the literary analysis skills that I'm learning in my A.P. English Language and Composition class to a sci-fi show.
That's also when I realized that analyzing B5 is a lot more fun than analyzing Dickens.
#babylon 5#babylon five#b5#b5 rewatch#sleeping in the light#turns out school does have real-world applications#such as analyzing sci-fi#its fun though#adds an extra layer of depth to it#even it it is the fifth time you've watched that show

One side effect of the autistic sense of justice for me is going insane over justice and vengeance as concepts in themselves whenever applicable in media.
Which unfortunately means that thinking about justice dragon age for too long (especially with the post inq takes on spirits) makes me want to rip my hair out.
#i can't reconcile with the idea that vengeance is a corrupted 'too much' version of justice im sorry i'll always believe in Anders simply-#being stupid and catholic about it (affectionate)#It just. even if we're strictly viewing one as 'more violent' . that idea is.. not quite 100% applicable? kghfdhg 😭#it strictly depends on what is the driving force right? what are we avenging/ seeking justice for#and if violence for it is called for- then well- that response would be /Just/ just as much as it'd be an act of vengeance/retribution#if not more#Thing is Justice is the one type of spirit we've met(that i remember) that's intrinsically tied with morality by his very nature#/you can be wise and immoral or compassionate to people who very much do not deserve it etcetc#(i hate Mythal as benevolence ((SHE WAS A SLAVER)) -> retribution as much as i hate all evanuris lore but shes a good example of this)#but Justice? Justice to be Justice has to be objective#which IS BORDERLINE IMPOSSIBLE to apply in the real world outside the fade. which i suppose is where you CAN bring vengeance in.#vengeance as justice but looking at the world through a subjective lens. Since Vengeance and Justice CAN be two sides of the same coin.#Vengeance can be as Just as you make it- it's just that /unlike/ justice- it doesnt have that same objective moral tie.#ie how you get someone like elgar'nan on the opposite end of the morality scale being called the god of it#but dragon age overall has the most wack and muddled sense of that all these words /concepts-#mean/are meant to convey that im starting to feel like im losing my grasp on the english language overall 😭#bc even after this entire philosophical talk - anders' justice-> vengeance as a transition makes me go???#at that the fuck elgar'nan 's deal was supposed to be originally then? certainly not justice. unless maybe we mean justice as in law??#BUT THAT'S A WHOLE OTHER CAN OF WORMS. DO YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN.#veilguard spoilers#dav spoilers#for the mythal thing#elluin wotr and whatever the fuck he has going on with calistria and iomedae save me from this. save me ellu

i just had to take this ai personality test to submit a job application (to be a bartender).

#the end of our society is upon us yall#i think it’s so funny that so much of imaging our future with technology (sci-fi) branches off into two subsection#A. technology gets so advanced that it becomes the governing (tyrannical) power#or B. technology aids humanity in developing a star trek esque utopia of convenience and luxury#but i don’t think anyone predicted this#this weird dependency on technology (especially AI and other ‘smart’ tech) thats actually just shit#like yeah tech is replacing human jobs and doing it worse and less convenient#it wasn’t that long ago when you could call up any store and a real human being would answer#like… 5-10 years ago??#do you remember when you could walk into a store and get a job application and fill it out by hand#in order to get to this ‘personality test’ stage i had to chat with an AI virtual assistant#and then make an account and (after verifying my email of course) filled out my online application (again…)#and then i had to take this personality test#all so i can continue serving ppl highballs and beer??#its sad to see how normalized this is now#anyway as frustrated as i am by the state of the world#i’m choosing to laugh at how fkn dumb this ai test is#i’m gonna post more pics in a sec

Wicked, the book, feels in theory like something I could really love. Unfortunately, I did read it, and I did not like it.
#like. actually. as a writer.#'How about we treat the worldbuilding of this whacky magical fantasyland seriously?'#is actually crack for me#except the book doesn't ACTUALLY do that..#It approaches the subject with a much more cynical lens#filtered through many real world issues#but it doesn't explain shit either.#If the original book is 'Don't think about it just VIBES'#Wicked felt very much like 'Don't think about it just MISERY'#and I am so forgiving of the musical being shoddy on worldbuilding#because it is a MUSICAL#by nature built on fun vibes and not a great medium to explain wordbuilding intricacies and also very character-focused#but the book is an absolute brick and I would have LOVED a history really diving into how Oz works#except the book does nothing but start-stop; start-stop; and gets nowhere.#Nothing ever gets resolved and then Elphaba dies.#are you gonna tell me? what the fucking grimmery is about? how it works? is that gonna have any sort of conclusive story arc?#nnnnNNNOPES.#I just watched a very cool video doing this literary VS genre dissection that feels applicable here...#I was expecting a fantasy book and I got the Sad Life and Times of this One Lady

the worst part about having read homestuck is when your friends talk about something they like and you realize there is a really clear and interesting example of a spades romance that would allow for a lot of character analysis under that lens and then moments later realizing there is no way anything coming out of your mouth is coherent or sane
#sending a spade emoji and everyone goes “what does that mean” I'm sorry I cannot make you understand if I wanted to#awful that spades seems like a completely natural concept in my head that is applicable to the real world. it is not. there is no hatemance
