The Lego Watcher is BLOOOOOOOOOOSH compatible. The blast effect is from War For Cybertron Siege Commander Class Jetfire.

This is the Redeye Watcher. It’s a small recon class machine, and its primary job is to alert bigger machines of the player’s presence. Appearance wise, they’re not too different from the standard Watchers at first glance- however they do have some differences. They’re bigger, have longer and thinner tails, and that they have thicker armor plating on the head.

I would’ve loved to do a comparison post, but that will have to wait- this is because normal watchers are not actually present in Forbidden West. This doesn’t surprise me, as Redeye Watchers are just stronger versions of normal Watchers, and Burrowers also work in incredibly similar ways.

Horizon Forbidden West machine headshots compilation 1/5.

I wanted to do a summary of my headshots (not including tallnecks, which had their own compilation already) coz I think they look pretty good en masse. One or two machines are technically missing from my collection (grimhorn and specter prime) but neither are available to snap post-game (and I'm not yet mentally prepared for playthrough #4). Hopefully you'll forgive me.

I've still been running through Stuff in Horizon Forbidden West in the mornings, but the last day or so it was mostly "Attempt to hunt up THINGS for armour, be disappointed when the Slaughterspine I was hunting didn't turn out to be the really dangerous one, sigh and decide to try again later". But I did trip over a quest, and ... yeah.

So yesterday I tripped over a quest from Nakka in Fall's Edge, when I was trying to tick the "Visit Fall's Edge" box on the main questline. But I can't find the person I need to talk to here and the quest isn't ticking. Lemme check Reddit.

Sooooooooo it just ... stays there until I do the main part of the quest? Really? Couldn't we have at least had it turn off when I actually visit the place? What the--? Oh. Hi, Nakko.

Watcher

Compact, inquisitive and agile recon unit that will attempt to swarm a target in numbers.

Some of these are Redeye Watchers, but aside from them being the slightly more annoying variant because they refuse to die, they're pretty much the same. I used to be under the impression that only Redeye Watchers will use ranged attacks and regular Watchers mostly alarm other machines before swarming you, but that doesn't seem to be the case: I've been blinded by regular Watchers before, as well as attacked from a distance, and the only discernable difference between both variants was, in fact, their varying degrees of sturdiness. Like Longlegs, they're recon machines somewhat remniscient of chickens, although the Longleg, due to its feather-like antennae and general behaviour has greater similarity. (The Watcher just refused to evolve, it seems.) Where the Longleg is overly dramatic, the Watcher is curious and cute, and more often than not just trying very, very hard to stay relevant.

A little while back, I posted about the gold plating that I noticed while fighting an Apex Thunderjaw, and was curious as to what exactly it was, and why it wasn’t on other Thunderjaws. Well, it looks like I’ve got an answer for that tonight. Upon fighting these machines here, specifically an Apex Redeye Watcher and an Apex Clamberjaw, I have come to the conclusion that this gold plating is present on any kind of apex machine. That alongside the black armor can be a good way to tell a normal machine from their apex counterpart. That’s honestly something I wish I could say I had noticed sooner, but the cool thing about running a side blog like this is that while my main focus here is the tiny details, while finding those details, I get to expand upon my pre-existing knowledge of the things present in this series.
