I’ve been jumping around your masterlist rereading having a lazy morning. I just read Iridessa And The Lost Boy and I was wondering in the future - like the next year, then when the kids are around, does Andy dress up with reader? Do they do family themed costumes and now Andy is the one that looks forward to this every year? I can see him being the one that’s so committed to outdoing the family costume from the previous year!

So, in Iridessa & The Lost Boy, we see that Andy isn't the biggest fan of that particular holiday. And because of that he ends up hurting Reader's feelings and almost ruining her Halloween - which also happens to be her favorite time of year. But they manage to work things out in the end.

Because of that, Andy's interest in the holiday begins to grow over time. He's not all-in immediately. But the next year, Baby Girl convinced him to go as Indiana Jones. It wasn't hard necessarily, but it wasn't easy either. It definitely took some, um, coaxing on her part. But eventually he agreed. Meanwhile, she on the other hand decided to go as Lara Croft from Tomb Raider.

As you probably guessed, he wasn't the biggest fan of her outfit. But he shut up real quick when Reader pulled him close and proceeded to tell him all of the filthy things she planned to do to him the moment they got home...

However, Andrew's love of Halloween continued to grow after that. But it reached its peak after they welcomed their children. The first year after Bianca was born, Andy took the lead on finding the first of many family costumes. And the three of them ended up dressing as Alfredo, Colette, and Remy from Ratatouille - kind of like this.

Halloween is now a big deal in the Barber household, and that doesn't bother Andy one bit. Thanks for the ask!

Summary: It's been ten years since the outbreak. Logan Croft never expected the science fiction of a zombie apocalypse to ever become a reality, but he was living through it. He’s been searching for some place to call home, some place where he could find genuine human connection again.

When he rediscovers a childhood friend in the middle of the end of the world, his new normal is changed. Logan’s search for a sanctuary gains a new component, a friend to search with.

Their group continues to grow more complex as they find more people from each of their pasts. Logan doesn’t know how he feels about all the new individuals in his life, and all of the trouble they can cause. He should’ve known more people would bring more conflict. Human interaction is so gross.

But, then again, Logan hasn’t been around people for this amount of time since the beginning of the outbreak. He finds he likes it more than he remembered. He wonders if, maybe, they could become a new home in his ever-changing world.

Clem: Lara Croft- She likes her because she's smart, resilient, and driven. Someone who can take a beating and get back up each and every time

Louis: Frankiestein from Monster High- She's his favorite monster and just loves how happy and positive she is about life.

Violet: Esmerelda from the Hunchback of Notre Dame- She's strong, confident, kicks ass, cares about her people, and has a badass pet. Plus she stands up for what she believes in.

Marlon: Slinky Dog from Toy Story- he feels he's an underappreciated character and that people don't talk enough about how he helped out in the movies

Brody: Riley from Inside Out- She relates to her and she knows what it's like to not be in control of your emotions and be struggling.

Mitch: Gimli from Lord of The Rings- He kicks ass and take names, he has awesome fighting abilities and he takes no shit from anyone. Respect.

James: The Shadow Man from Happily Ever After- Every time that James watches the movie he hyper-focuses whenever The Shadow Man is on screen. He loves how babey he looks and how things turn out for him in the end.

Brothers and Secrets Chapter Five: An Unexpected Visitor

Summary: Remus set out on his backpacking trip across Europe with a route in mind but no set time frame. So when he suddenly calls Roman as he's about to go to bed and demands to be picked up from the airport, Roman is rightfully caught off guard. As it turns out, Remus has experienced more in those two years than his brother had thought, not only getting himself a boyfriend but also a house to live in with said boyfriend.

There are many things Roman finds suspicious about this new set of circumstances and as time goes on, the mysteries pile on. Remus is hiding something, but what? And how will his secrets impact not only Roman's life but that of their friends Patton and Janus as well?

‘Soon’ apparently meant six weeks. Another entire six weeks went by without meeting Logan. Roman, Patton and Janus visited, the latter visited the most because he was tackling the garden with Remus, but none of them even saw a hair of the cryptic boyfriend. It was a fact that bothered Roman to no end, but he held out because Remus asked him to and while his twin was infuriating, there were few things Roman wouldn’t do for him.

 Remy also made next to no appearances. He greeted them a couple of times, but Remus told them that he spends most of his time either sleeping, partying somewhere, or clearing up family matters with Logan. Apparently, the whole caretaker business was more complicated than it appeared and it took a while to sort out. But as soon as they did, Remy dipped, off to see his boyfriend.

 Roman, Janus and Patton received an invitation for a weekend stay shortly after. It was finally time to meet Logan Croft in person.

They drove together on Friday after they were all done with work and arrived during dinner time. Remus greeted them alone and explained that Logan was asleep and would meet them in the morning for breakfast. Again, Roman found that highly suspicious but he supposed he could wait one more night. The four of them ate together and had a fun evening of storytelling and games before they went to bed. Remus slept together with Logan, Patton and Janus shared and Roman had a room for himself. He would never admit it, but it did feel a bit lonely.

 It did turn out for the best since he ended up having trouble falling asleep. Whether it was the unfamiliar surroundings or the anticipation for the next day, he had no idea, but something kept him awake. Staying in bed was no help so he decided to get a something to drink from the kitchen and maybe afterwards he’d have more luck.

 He slipped out of the room and quietly made his way through the hallways, using his phone to light the way. He passed Remy’s now empty room, as well as the one Janus and Patton occupied before arriving at the stairs. He took a moment to listen, but he heard nothing. Good, he hadn’t woken anyone up.

 Carefully he walked down the stairs. They still tended to creak, and he wasn’t sure which steps he needed to skip so he took it slow and made it without much noise. Still, he took another moment to listen for movement.

 Nothing.

 But for some reason he felt like he was being watched.

 The house had felt unsettling to him since the first day, not surprising considering the state that it was in and its location in the middle of nowhere. It had gotten better the more they renovated it but, in that moment, at night in almost complete darkness, it felt more like a ghost house than ever before.

 Roman shuddered. The kitchen wasn’t far and he should be far enough from the bedrooms that he didn’t need to watch every step he made anymore so he continued on, determined to get his drink and return to his bed as soon as possible.

 He didn’t make it to the kitchen.

 He was suddenly grabbed by the throat and slammed against the hallway wall. All air left his lungs and he choked. Instinctively he grabbed the arm holding him with both hands and tried to get it off him, but it wouldn’t budge. He dropped his phone and it landed on the carpet, face down so the light from the flashlight mode shone up, allowing him to see his attacker.

 The man was taller than him by a few inches. He wore a hoodie with the hood pulled up but the light from below illuminated him enough that Roman could still make out his features. Dark hair, angular face with piercings, almost glowing purple eyes that stared him down without blinking. He wore dark eyeshadow under his eyes in a way that Roman might have made fun of a bit if it didn’t look terrifying in this situation. The man bared his teeth – they were sharp, why were they sharp? – and hissed, startling Roman out of his frozen state.

 He managed to take a shaking breath; the hand wasn’t pushing down on his throat – not yet at least – just holding him in place. Otherwise, Roman was free to move. He could punch or kick his assailant but something in those eerily purple eyes told him he shouldn’t try lest he actually wanted to get hurt. He left his hands on the arm holding him down but remained still otherwise, waiting for the other to make the first move. He didn’t have to wait long.

 “Who the hell are you and what are you doing here?” the man hissed, his voice deep and dangerous. Roman swallowed.

 “Roman, I’m visiting my brother.” Apparently not what the guy wanted to hear since he slammed his free hand next to Roman’s head, closing the distance between them a bit more.

 This was entirely the wrong moment to realize that Roman found the other attractive.

 “What brother? Don’t think you can lie to me, human.”

 Roman’s brain short-circuited. Human? Was this guy not human then? It would explain the eyes. He’d never seen eyes like that before. Piercing and intense and beautiful and – Stop. He should be scared right now not… doing whatever he was doing right now.

 The… creature? didn’t seem to like his hesitation because the hand around his throat tightened, now actively restricting the air flow. His brain changed back into being scared.

 “Answer me,” he – it? – growled.

 “My twin, Remus, he moved in here over a month ago,” Roman whispered, trying to conserve air. His grip on the others arm had tightened though there was acknowledgement whatsoever that he even felt it.

 “I said, don’t lie to me! This house belongs to my family and I don’t know any-“

 Someone cleared their throat close by.

 “Virgil, please let him go, he is an invited guest.” The voice was smooth and clear. His attacker’s head snapped over towards it and Roman followed his gaze.

 About three feet away from them stood another man. He was also tall, probably even taller than the other one. He held an old oil lamp in his hand – they had found quite a few of those around the house while they’d been cleaning and Remus had said to leave them, since they were useful doing a power outage – so he and his surroundings were illuminated by a soft light. The newcomer’s hair was black and long, tied into a ponytail that laid across his shoulder. He wore a nightgown that seemed to be around two hundred years old, and he had slippers on. His face was hard to make out in the dim light, but his eyes were a very light blue that seemed as piercing as the ones from Roman’s attacker.

 Before either of them could respond however, there was movement behind the newcomer and to Roman’s horror, his brother’s head appeared on the man’s shoulder and only then did Roman noticed that the man’s arm that wasn’t holding up the lantern was behind his back, supporting Remus who seemed to be riding piggyback.

 “Oh my, Roman’s being pinned to the wall by a hot guy, I’m so jealous!” his twin giggled. “Hey, Logie, you should do that to me some time, I love it when you loom over me.” He insistently hit the man carrying him on the shoulder who hummed in acknowledgement.

 “Alright, dear, we can try it sometime, but I need to stop your brother from getting killed right now, okay?”

 “Sure, I don’ want him dead, please,” Remus mumbled, laying his head on the other’s shoulder, and Roman’s alarm bells were ringing very loudly. Something definitely was up, his brother sounded like he’d been smoking weed again. That was a problem for later though because the first guy still hadn’t let him go.

 “Logan? What are you doing here, I thought Remy was taking care of this place?”

 Logan. Right. He should’ve realized that the guy carrying his brother and called him ‘dear’ was the cryptic boyfriend. Well, no one could blame Roman for being a bit overwhelmed at the moment.

 “Indeed, he was. But I took over for him only a few days ago. Now please let my guest go?” His attacker – What his name? Virgil? – finally seemed to realize that he hadn’t done so yet and released him, taking a few steps back.

 “Thank you. Are you alright, Roman?” Somehow that question got him to snap.

 “Am I alright?! No, I’m not alright! I was attacked in the middle of the night by a guy that called me ‘human’ like he isn’t one, my brother’s cryptic boyfriend – who I haven’t even met before – suddenly shows up, calls my attacker by name and carries around said brother who seems to be high as hell! What the fuck is going on?!”

 “Ro-bro said ‘fuck’,” Remus giggled again. Roman glared daggers at Logan who had the decency to look somewhat embarrassed.

 “My apologies, that was a badly worded question. I will give you answers in a moment but first please tell me if Virgil hurt you.”

 “I didn’t,” Virgil scoffed but Logan ignored him, keeping his gaze focused on Roman who scowled at him.

 “… I’m fine.”

 “Are you certain?”

 “Yes. I want an explanation.”

 “As do we,” came another new voice, from behind Logan this time. This time, however, the voice was familiar to Roman. Logan turned and took a step to the side, revealing Janus and Patton. Janus was holding his own oil lamp and had a look of calmness on his face as if this situation was nothing out of the ordinary. Patton on the other hand slightly cowered behind him, his eyes warily flittered between Logan and Virgil. With one hand he was holding one of Janus’ while he was chewing on one nail of the other.

 “You let a witch in?!” Virgil shrieked suddenly, all heads snapping to him immediately. He in turn was staring at Janus with the same hostility in his eyes that was previously directed at Roman.

 “Oh, thank you, Virgil! Everybody here is definitely aware that witches exist and you didn’t just break a big taboo.”

 “Janny’s a witch?!” Remus yelled, leaning forwards and almost throwing Logan off balance. “Why didn’t you tell me, Lo! You need to tell me stuff like that!”

 “Please calm down, Remus. I did tell you one of your friends was not human but since I hadn’t met them face to face yet I was unsure who or what they were.”

 “Oh, right. Sorry.”

 “You are forgiven, dear.”

 “Stop talking like we’re not here!” Roman yelled. “What are you?” he asked, pointing at Logan. “What happened to my brother? How do you” – he pointed at Janus – “know him?” This time he pointed at Virgil. “Is Patton hiding something, too? Am I the only normal one around? What is happening?!?” Patton flinched at the mention of his name, just as lost as Roman. He’d let go of Janus’ hand when he addressed Virgil and was trying to make himself as small as possible. Roman would feel bad for him if he wasn’t as stressed.

 “Ro-bro’s losing it!” Remus laughed, apparently very amused by the situation. Virgil squinted at him.

 “Were you feeding off of him?” he asked Logan. Roman threw his hands in the air, startling Virgil.

 “Don’t give me more questions before answering the others first!”

 “Indeed,” Logan spoke up, “I do owe you an explanation. Well, I think a few of us have some things to explain. Let’s move to the parlor. This will take a while and I believe we would all be more comfortable sitting down.”

 “Fine by me,” Janus agreed. “I was considering telling the others about my true nature anyway. Thank you again for making the choice for me, Virgil.”

 “Fuck off, snake.”

 “Virgil, be civil.” He grumbled but didn’t protest. Logan continued, addressing Roman again. “Would that be acceptable for you?” Roman’s eyes flickered over to his twin who was still giggling on Logan’s shoulder. “I ensure you: Remus is alright. He should return to normal shortly and then he will explain himself. We were planning to do so in the morning but considering the circumstances we cannot postpone this any longer.”

 “Alright, I’ll give you a chance. Because I trust Remus, not you.”

 “I understand. Please follow me.” He started walking down the hall, past Roman and Virgil, who shot another glare at Janus before following. Janus rolled his eyes but started walking as well. Patton stayed, however. He looked confused and a bit scared.

 “Are you okay?” Roman asked, quietly. “I’m sorry if I scared you.” Patton shook his head.

 “You didn’t. I’m just… I don’t understand what’s happening. Janny and I woke up because we heard noises from downstairs and then we found you here and now they’re talking about witches and feeding?” He shook his head. “Am I dreaming?”

 “No, Patton. This is real, I think. Things have been weird for a while. Let’s get some answers, okay?”

 “Okay.” He hesitated for a moment. “Can I hold your hand? Please?” Roman smiled though it felt strained on his face.

 “Sure, Pat. I need that right now, too.” Together they made their way over to the parlor to get the answers to the mysteries that had stacked up since Remus came back.

Logan sat at the kitchen table, a now-tepid mug of coffee at his elbow. He stared at the document open on his laptop.

Superior Court of Washington, County of King

In re the marriage of Petitioner: KELLY JESSICA CROFT And Respondent: LOGAN SANDERS CROFT To the Respondent: Your spouse/domestic partner (the Petitioner) started a case asking the court (check one): [x] To end your marriage.

Logan had read the document and its many (many) attachments five times now. He was partway through a sixth reading when the doorbell rang. Logan's brow furrowed as he glanced at the time on the screen. Virgil and Patton weren't due back from Kelly's place until tomorrow. If he was even awake, Remy was likely wearing headphones while he played Warframe and wouldn't have heard the door. With a small groan, Logan stood and made his way to the front door.

He peered through the peephole and sighed heavily as he turned the locks. Logan opened the door and smiled stiffly at the two young men in dark blue suits and bicycle helmets.

"Good morning, sir, how are you today?" the shorter of them asked.

Logan nodded politely but said firmly, "I'm fine, thank you, but I'm not interested. Please mark my house as a 'do not visit.' I hope you have a good day," Logan started to close the door.

"Oh, sir, if I may..." he reached through the open door, pushing something into Logan's hand.

It was a small religious tract with a glossy cover, only a few pages long. The front of the tract was dominated by a blue and grey-toned image of a person in silhouette sitting on a rock, arms wrapped around their knees, head hanging down. Logan started to read the large, cursive letters across the top, "When you say, 'I feel lonely.' Jehovah says—"

Logan pressed the tract back into the young man's hand, a sob threatening to spill from his lips. He took a deep breath and managed to squeak out, "No, thank you," and closed the door just before the tears started to fall. Logan leaned hard against the door, sliding down to the floor. He covered his mouth with both hands, muffling the sobs that wracked his body. Tears poured down his face and he rocked back and forth, fighting to catch his breath.

He crouched by the door for a long time. Slowly, gradually, his chest stopped seizing and his sobs quieted. Eventually, he was able to swallow back his tears and he scrubbed at his face, wiping away the evidence of his loss of control.

Logan stood and walked back over to the table, standing in front of his laptop.

He stared at the screen until the words [x] To end your marriage. glowed with the aura of an afterimage. He briefly closed his eyes and took a deep breath before clicking the Sign and Send button, selecting a plain font for his electronic signature. He stepped through the prompts to sign, shuddering with each click as it traveled up his arm, the stuttering pain in his chest growing with every affirmation that the marriage and the life that he had fought and suffered for so long to salvage was truly and completely dead.

When Logan got to the end of the document, his hand hovered over the track pad, the little hand icon waiting for his choice.

He clicked send.
