Queer and trans folk around the world often take an interest in the athletes from our community, and Outsports even collects a database of all the the out LGBTQ competitors. While JK Rowling and 99 percent of conservative media were harassing two cis women boxers, 195 QT athletes represented 26 nations and none, but we’ll get to that. That makes this the queerest Olympics ever, beating out the total of 186 out athletes in Tokyo and, if Queer Nation granted citizenships, would be the 14th largest national contingent at the games. That hypothetical Queer Nation would also have placed sixth in the medal count, tying the Netherlands with 15 golds but falling neatly between the Dutch and host country France on the strength of silvers and bronzes.
One happy bit of news is that in both golds and overall medal count, Queer Nation beat out every single country in the world that criminalizes same-sex boinking. The only bad news seems to be that people competing in the men’s events seem a little underqueered compared to the women. Can’t we at least get a few interested in the Greco-Roman wrestling? Yr Wonkette is just asking.
...
Sure, justice in silver and gold for badass bisexual Black woman Sha’Carri Richardson, excluded from Tokyo on the basis of smoking legal weed in Eugene, Oregon, was as sweet as sativa; it was fun to see Diana Taurasi go out on the queer top with her sixth Olympic gold in a row (team USA’s eighth consecutive women’s basketball gold); and seeing the shoulders on those women rugby players was a dream come true. But we want to speak about someone who didn’t represent any country at all: Cindy Ngamba.
Ngamba is a middleweight (75kg) boxer originally from Cameroon. At 11 years old some family members fled to the United Kingdom as refugees, and brought Ngamba along. The family maintains it had the proper approval for Cindy, but that when her uncle returned to Cameroon it was lost. The UK Home Office has been threatening to deport her since the age of 16, when she was accepted to university and realized she couldn’t produce her visa for her college paperwork.
Despite the threats, Ngamba fought and won many times in the UK’s amateur boxing competitions, having started as a hobbyist in the local Bolton Lads and Girls Club program. She also went on to get an undergraduate degree with honors, all while threats of deportation hung over her head. After winning a UK national championship, she met then-PM Theresa May celebrating her win and the efforts of the Lads & Girls Club where she trained. One might think that the UK might eventually forgive an 11-year-old girl for not keeping track of her paperwork herself, but the Home Office has remained resolute denying Ngamba regularized status.
What makes all this both horrifyingly inhumane and also relevant to this article is that Ngamba is an out lesbian. She has been consistently denied a path to citizenship or even legal residency, only escaping deportation because of her ability to document horror after horror inflicted on queer residents of Cameroon. International law prohibits sending a refugee back to their nation of citizenship or previous residence if they would face persecution and risk of great harm, a crime called “refoulement.”
“If I was sent back, I can be in danger,” Ngamba said. “So, I was given the refugee status to be safe and protected."
Unable to represent the UK and unable to compete in qualifying competitions in Cameroon, Ngamba got an opportunity that no other stateless athlete had ever shared before 2016: she was named to the IOC Refugee Olympic Team. So far that team has only been allowed to compete in the summer games, and only in Rio, Tokyo, and this year in Paris. (They will be allowed to compete in the Winter Games for the first time in 2026.) Given the incredible barriers most refugees face, it is perhaps not surprising that no Refugee Team member has ever won a medal. But while Ngamba has faced incredible legal problems and a ruthlessly anti-immigrant government her entire time in the UK, she at least had better training facilities in her local Lads & Girls than most refugees can dream.
And the dreams paid off. Team Refugee got its first medal ever when Ngamba took home middleweight bronze. "I just want to tell every refugee out there, whether they are an athlete or not, to never give up,” she said after being asked to carry the Olympic flag at the opening of the games. When she won, the whole refugee team took to the internet to celebrate:
“The Refugee Olympic Team is incredibly proud of Cindy Ngamba, the first EOR athlete and the first-ever refugee medallist at the Olympics,” the team posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Today, we are speechless. Cindy did it. Refugees did it!”
Yes, yes you did.

The plans would see the construction of more than 1,700 new homes for Israeli settlers. There are already around 200,000 Israelis living in illegal settlements in Palestinian East Jerusalem, which Israel annexed in 1967.
"If it weren't for the war (on Gaza), there would be a lot of noise. It's a highly problematic project for the continuity of a Palestinian state between the southern West Bank and east Jerusalem," said Hagit Ofran from the Israeli NGO Peace Now.
The move was condemned by regional states, with Turkey saying that settlements damage efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.
“It is completely unacceptable that Israel approved a plan to build approximately 1,800 settlements on 186 acres of land in East Jerusalem," Turkey’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
...
Egypt also slammed the move as a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, urging Israel to halt the construction of illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land in a foreign ministry statement.

Sorpeli please? 🥺
186.
General Amaya sends her wedding invitations out at somewhat short notice—the date she gives is not even a month after the invites arrive at the castle, and there are, of course, invites for each of them: Ezran, Callum, Rayla, Soren, Corvus, and even one for Opeli who is pleasantly surprised to receive one even when Amaya knows she will likely not be able to attend.
"The thought is nice," she says to Ezran with an appreciative smile, "but it's bad enough that your brother and Rayla won't be back in time to go. She's your aunt. You can't miss her wedding. I'm happy to hold the fort here."
"Still kinda sucks though," says Ezran wrinkling his nose. "You never to get to go out."
"There will be other occasions," chuckles Opeli. "Give her my well wishes and congratulations though."
"Oh, I will!" he says brightly. "There's just... the other thing."
Opeli snorts at that, rolling her eyes in an uncharacteristic show of unprofessionalism. "If you're referring to our guest in the dungeons, I can assure you I'll manage it without problems. Viren has been a thorn in my side for years. I can deal with him well enough on my own."
"Not like this." Ezran grimaces and shifts uneasily on the spot. "He's supposed to be dead, Opeli, and we all know how easily Aaravos can control people. Who's to say he isn't here to mess us up from the inside?"
"He was doing that long before he ever came into contact with that elf," says Opeli drily. "I'll be fine."
"It's not the same. I dunno, I guess I'd just feel better if you had some back up. In case... you know."
Opeli lets herself chuckle. Ezran has always had a good heart and she appreciates sentiment but it's really no trouble. As High Cleric, she has an amount of authority over the guards anyway and there are a number now who have become her friends over the years she has served. She's about to say so when Soren cuts in, his grin as cocky as ever even if there's a flicker of something uneasy in his eyes.
"Don't stress, Ez," he says. "I'll be her back up."
Opeli blinks. Ezran blinks. They turn to him, both surprised he would volunteer himself to deal with his father in the event Viren would do something untoward.
"You realise you're invited too," Opeli points out. "Why should you have to miss out on General Amaya's wedding?"
"Why should you?" asks Soren matter-of-factly. "Seems unfair you have to stay behind every time something cool happens. And ultimately Ez is right—it'll be better if you've got back up to help you deal with... Viren." The uneasiness flashes in his eyes again, and Opeli knows just by looking at him that he'd prefer not to deal with this at all.
"Are you sure?" Ezran asks before she can mention it. "We all know how hard it's been for you since he came back."
"I'm sure," says Soren resolutely. "He's my dad. Who better to deal with than me?"
"Yeah, but—"
"It'll be fine, Ez. Two of us is better than one, right?" He looks to Opeli then looking for confirmation and she realises in that moment that there's something else there, something he doesn't want to voice in front of Ezran.
"Yes," she agrees. "As long as you're sure."
She asks him about it later, when he brings her the usual pot of tea after dinner. It's something he's been doing for a couple of years now, something that's since evolved into quiet conversations about life and loss and growing up with a father like his. "Do you want to talk about it?"
He shrugs as she lets him into her office. "I think I just want a friend right now," he murmurs.
Opeli twitches her lips. "I can certainly be that."

Plain text:
Ch 186: The 73rd Demon King, V: I overcame all the tragedies in my life with a single story. It was the story of a person who never gave up, no matter what. That story made me. I could survive to reach here.

Ch 216: Real Revolutionary, II: "Still, you should leave a mark." “Does that make sense?" "There is no apparent meaning." "Then?" "It is just important that you left it." "The other party won't know so why?" "At least the wall has changed." I was speechless for a moment. Jang Hayoung spoke in a resolute voice. "Then one day, someone might read it.”

Practically every country supports a cease fire, 153/193 countries (technically 186, as 7 countries didn’t have representatives available to vote), in today’s vote which is unfortunately a non-binding resolution.
Of note, you don’t see Palestine on the list, because Palestine isn’t a recognized country for UN General Assembly votes. They are only an observing member, due to blocks by (checks notes) oh the same fuckers perpetuating this genocide, the US and Israel.

Israel has approved the building of a major new settlement in occupied East Jerusalem in violation of international law, as it faces accusations of genocide over its indiscriminate war on the besieged Gaza Strip.
The Jerusalem District Planning Committee approved a plan to build a "new Jewish neighbourhood that will be partly located in East Jerusalem", the Times of Israel reported on Tuesday.
'Violation of international law'
The move was condemned by regional states, with Turkey saying that settlements damage efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.
“It is completely unacceptable that Israel approved a plan to build approximately 1,800 settlements on 186 acres of land in East Jerusalem," Turkey’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
It said that the expansion "seriously undermines the prerequisite principles for permanent peace" and accused Israel of "further violating international law".
Egypt also slammed the move as a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, urging Israel to halt the construction of illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land in a foreign ministry statement.
Israel has constructed hundreds of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention, since the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.

For five years, I've ceased to experience with shame what can be experienced with pleasure and triumph (sexuality, jealousy, class differences). Shame spreads over everything, prevents any further progress.
annie ernaux, getting lost, trans. by alison l. strayer (fitzcarraldo editions, 2022), p. 186
i bought fitzcarraldo's fiction & essays subscription, and the first package was waiting for me when i came back home—have been in nyc for what feels like years (three weeks!) for work. annie ernaux's getting lost was inside.
i've become quite obsessed with ernaux since reading exteriors/extérieurs and the years/les années last year. it's nice because basically everyone i talk to about books is obsessed with ernaux too—her spare, intimate, revealing, generous prose, that slips so swiftly between the interior and the exterior of the world, the personal and the collective experience of history and contemporaneity.
i devoured getting lost, which feels incredibly…intense! the frivolous description i've been using is that it's about a woman who is terminally and detrimentally horny for love, which—because i am always longing for love and feel like i would do anything for it—makes it kind of a perfect book to read. it's very much committed to the philosophy (maybe reality?) of love that proust is also dedicated to: that love is about anticipating, longing, suffering, desiring, despairing; that love is saturated with paranoia, characterized by relentless and interminable waiting, punctuated by welcome moments of gratification, of love requited (but never fully—so the lover clutches onto small signs of sincerity, awaits a larger sign, awaits a full and complete resolution where their love will be absolutely gratified…which doesn't happen for the narrator of in search of lost time, which doesn't happen for swann, which doesn't happen for ernaux…but ultimately i'm grateful that the final, lackluster nature of waiting for one's love to be requited has produced such beautiful stories…)
near the end of getting lost, ernaux writes: For five years, I've ceased to experience with shame what can be experienced with pleasure and triumph (sexuality, jealousy, class differences). Shame spreads over everything, prevents any further progress.
and it shocked me; i felt really stupefied, after pages and pages of ernaux expressing this terrible, desperate, all-consuming love, that she could be so certain—that despite the truly embarrassing nature of being leveled and humbled by love, even this kind of pain is something to experience with pleasure and triumph, not shame.
Shame spreads over everything, prevents any further progress.
in the past few days i've been going to bed and waking up and thinking about all the different forms of shame that i've been holding, and how indeed it seems to spread over everything, stain everything with fear, prevent me from stepping forward into life.
i mean…annie! no shame! for five years! annie, tell us how you did it! how you do it…how we can do it, even in the midst of longing for love and not quite finding it, longing to write and not quite managing it. tell us what it's like to live a life where everything vulnerable can be approached, remembered, rewritten with pleasure and triumph.

How can crowdsourcing aid in battling the COVID-19 pandemic?
What is Crowdsourcing?
Crowdsourcing is a distributed online problem-solving and innovative sourcing paradigm where participants of online communities collaborate to accomplish a common objective (Vermicelli et al., 2020; Zhang et al., 2022). It supplements conventional data gathering by collecting massive amounts of data and information from individuals worldwide.
Tumblr media
Crowdsourcing Initiatives for COVID-19 Pandemic
Crowdfight
An endeavour spearheaded by the scientific community with the intention of mobilizing all accessible resources to combat the COVID-19 pandemic (Vermicelli et al., 2020). It is designed for COVID-19 researchers who wish to submit a brief description of their inquiries or projects. The request may involve anything from a straightforward but time-consuming task (e.g., data transcription) to the resolution of a technical inquiry that exceeds their area of expertise or the establishment of a collaborative relationship. Further, another scientist within the community will try to comprehend and fulfill the demand.

COVID Near You
Created by Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's Hospital, which allows individuals to report symptoms in real-time by ZIP code (Zhang et al., 2022). Using crowdsourced data, it maps existing and future pandemic areas to help local, online communities and public health organizations track disease progression. Public reporting of COVID-19 signs may supplement public health monitoring and assist people in determining where symptoms are happening in their community (Fliesler, 2020).
Tumblr media
Open Innovability - Call4Ideas COVID-19 Challenge
The crowdsourcing platform Open Innovability by Enel hosts the Call4Ideas COVID-19 Challenge, launched by Marzotto Venture Accelerator and Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome (Vermicelli et al., 2020, p. 186). This is an open invitation to everyone within the online communities who has innovative projects or ideas that could potentially turned into an entrepreneurial endeavour to assist the Italian system in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. This challenge encompasses various areas, including medical and personal protective equipment, telemedicine and home care, diagnostics, therapy and post-therapy.

Types of Crowdsourcing
While there are four main types of crowdsourcing, this blog will specifically delve into one of them, which is crowdfunding (Cricelli et al., 2021).
Crowdfunding: Soliciting financial contributions and investments for charitable endeavours, initiatives, and entrepreneurial ventures, without the intention of providing monetary returns to the contributors (SendPulse, 2023).
Crowdfunding Campaigns for COVID-19
MaybankHeart-MERCY
The objective of the campaign was to generate financial resources for Mercy Malaysia's COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan which offers crucial assistance to Malaysia's healthcare system by providing medical supplies and other vital necessities (Maybank, 2020). Additionally, it aims to support frontliners and volunteers, who are actively combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, it would furnish vital provisions and support to marginalized factions within the community, guaranteeing their access to aid throughout the MCO. In only two weeks, Maybank and Mercy Malaysia received almost RM300,000 for their ‘COVID-19 Pandemic Fund’ after public support. Donations are processed via the online banking platform Maybank2u.
Asnaf Care
Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah (LZNK) developed Asnaf Care, a virtual crowdfunding platform that was introduced on March 26, 2020, to raise money for asnaf (have-nots Muslim) in Negeri Kedah who suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 18 March 2020, Asnaf Care has asked the local and online communities to help distribute food to individuals experiencing food shortages under the Restriction Movement Order (Eldersevi & Muhammad, 2021).

Crowdsourcing Initiatives to Combat Infodemic during COVID-19 Pandemic
The proliferation of misinformation persisted without restraint on publicly accessible social media platforms such as Facebook. In Malaysia, Facebook, and Twitter have spread the misleading concepts that alkaline foods may treat COVID-19 (Yang, 2021). In response to the difficulties posed by the infodemic, crowdsourcing endeavours have prioritized the development of websites containing reliable data and information about COVID-19, with the backing of established fact-checking efforts.
CoronaTracker.com
CoronaTracker.com was established in late January 2020, during a period when widespread reports of COVID-19 compelled communities to attempt in comprehending the situation (Yang, 2021). Malaysian data scientist utilized LinkedIn, Facebook, and Telegram to recruit individuals from online communities to cooperate on pandemic remedies, receiving responses from across the globe. The site shows worldwide COVID-19 outbreak statistics, including reported cases, recovery, and fatalities in impacted nations.
Tumblr media
KawalCOVID19
KawalCOVID19 is another crowdsourcing initiative that adopts data-centric methodologies to provide precise and reliable information about COVID-19 in Indonesia (Yang, 2021). Its webpage has current information on confirmed cases, medication, recovery, and mortality. Notably, KawalCOVID19 reviews its portal content with medical community including doctors, virologists and epidemiologists to assure accuracy. Moreover, KawalCOVID19 provides links access to the authoritative sites of World Health Organization and official Indonesian government site. In an effort to counteract falsehoods associated with the pandemic, KawalCOVID19 and the Indonesian Anti-Slander Community (Mafindo) collectively gathered deceptive information from unidentified volunteers to verify its accuracy.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
In conclusion, crowdsourcing has been shown to be a crucial asset in combating COVID-19 in physical and online communities, providing a wide range of viable alternatives. It facilitates the accumulation of real-time information and the development of innovative approaches by enabling global community collaboration through online crowdsourcing initiatives such as Crowdfight, COVID Near You and Open Innovability. Additionally, the ability of crowdfunding initiatives such as MaybankHeart-MERCY and Asnaf Care to amass financial backing for COVID-19 is underscored. Concurrently, crowdsourcing effectively negates misinformation through the provision of accurate information within online communities, as exemplified by initiatives such as KawalCOVID19 and CoronaTracker.com. Fundamentally, crowdsourcing manifests itself as a complex entity, capitalizing on collaborative endeavours to efficiently address the obstacles posed by COVID-19.

The Casting of Frank Stone Preview - Breaking Down The Game's Cutting Room Floor Feature And Scope Of Choice - Game Informer
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/the-casting-of-frank-stone-preview-breaking-down-the-games-cutting-room-floor-feature-and-scope-of-choice-game-informer/
The Casting of Frank Stone Preview - Breaking Down The Game's Cutting Room Floor Feature And Scope Of Choice - Game Informer
Tumblr media
The Casting of Frank Stone may have new elements due to its ties to Dead by Daylight, but it remains a Supermassive horror game at its core. By that, I mean it’s a narrative-focused, choice-driven adventure that can result in numerous different outcomes based on your decisions and reaction time to sudden button prompts. Characters can be permanently killed off due to your actions, and this blueprint has given past Supermassive works like Until Dawn and especially The Quarry (which boasted 186 different outcomes) plenty of replayability for fans who wanted to see every possible route the story could take. This has typically meant restarting the entire game, but The Casting of Frank Stone eases this process thanks to a new destination called the Cutting Room Floor.
This mode opens after you’ve beaten the game once, but it will be available at the start for owners of the Deluxe Edition. The Cutting Room Floor displays the web of possible outcomes, locked and unlocked, for every narrative fork in each chapter. It also shows the number of collectibles you’ve found or can be found.
Every decision has a percentage number representing the number of players who chose it, and this statistic will continually fluctuate as more people play. You can replay any segment, which means you can preserve your choices from a previous section of the game and only change later outcomes, and vice versa. Since some outcomes can only be experienced by making a specific combination of decisions, the Cutting Room Floor seems like a great, streamlined way to witness the different story permutations and go collectible/achievement hunting without replaying unnecessary stretches or the whole game.
Tumblr media
How many different directions can the story take? When I asked Supermassive Games this question, creative director Steve Goss told me that the sheer number of outcomes won’t be as vast as The Quarry’s. Instead, he says to compare the game to Until Dawn’s structure. How to lose weight Fast
Losing weight naturally and without suffering
How to lose weight?
this is the most popular New Year resolution in the world Weight loss. How many thousands of articles have been written? and how many rumours have been spread. Some say eat Maggi to build a body, some say go on a low-carb diet, some say go on a low-fat diet, some sell their fake products. An entire industry has been built on this weight loss. What is the truth and what is the myth? To lose weight, what should you eat and what shouldn't you eat? Losing weight naturally and without suffering
 what is the best diet?
The logic behind weight loss is very simple, friends. Imagine you have a bank account here. The money you earn is collected in your bank account. The money you spend goes to your bank account. So if you want to increase your bank balance, you either have to increase your income or reduce your expenses. Similarly, our body has a calorie bank. All the calories you consume are collected here. And the more you spend, the less the storage here. This calorie bank is our body. To store the calories, they are mostly converted into fat and stored in the body, which increases our weight. So if you want to lose weight, either reduce your calorie intake, or spend more calories. Calories burn is what we call spending calories. We'll talk about how calories burn later, but before that, let's know how calories enter your body. All the food you eat, all the drinks you drink, except water, all of them contain energy in the form of calories. In nutritional science, the definition of calorie is a unit of energy. The food and water that you consume, is the source of the calories in your body. Because calories are a form of energy, the things that give the body energy, burn calories. To burn calories, the most obvious thing people think of is exercising. Which is true. But every process of the body needs energy, so calories burn in everything. To beat your heart, to breathe in your lungs, to digest food in your stomach, you need energy.
This is why even while sleeping at night, your calories burn. You heard it right. On average, in 8 hours of sleep, a normal person burns about 400 calories. And all these calories that are burning the body to keep it alive, we call it the Basal Metabolic Rate. BMR. Every person has a different basal metabolic rate. It depends on your height, weight, muscle mass, and many other factors. There is an online calculator, through which you can calculate your BMR.  for example, I am 28 years old. Height 186 cm. Weight 80 kg. My BMR is 1,828 calories per day. I would burn this much calories every day without doing anything. Apart from this, I told you that eating provides calories to the body. Losing weight naturally and without suffering
But do you know, depending upon what you eat, your food can burn calories too. The concept here is the Thermic Effect of Food. In short, TEF. The logic is very simple. When you eat, your body has to digest that food. We have to absorb nutrients from food and store them. In all these processes, the body spends energy and calories. So some things have a very low thermic effect. Like our fats. Oil, flour, butter. Our body digests these things easily. We don't need to burn any calories. On the other hand, whole grains. Protein-rich food. Dairy, eggs, and high-fiber vegetables and fruits. Spinach. Broccoli, all of these have a high thermic effect. Our body has to burn a lot of calories to digest these foods.
That's why it becomes difficult to gain weight by eating this type of food. Now you might be thinking, does this mean that some types of food can have negative calories as well? That the more calories that are available in that food, the more calories the body is burning to consume that food. This is a myth, friends. For this to happen, the thermic effect of any food should be more than 100%. Which is impossible. It doesn't happen. The highest thermic effect possible is around 30%. Which is usually of proteins. This means that if you're eating 100 calories of protein, 30 calories are being spent on digesting that protein. And your body is actually gaining only 70 calories. There's no need to go into maths here.
I'm not saying that you should remove the thermic effect of every food before eating it. I just wanted to give you a basic idea so that you understand that this kind of concept also exists.
weight loss
Many people will think that what is the need to exercise? If you consume less calories than the basal metabolic rate of the body, then your weight loss will be the same. Theoretically, this is true. But practically, it is very dangerous. Eating less than BMR without exercising can damage your body's hormonal balance. You will be more tired. You will become more irritable. It will be very difficult for you to concentrate on your studies and work. Because do you know which body part consumes the most calories in the human body? Losing weight naturally and without suffering
Our brain
Almost 20% of the energy usage of the human body is consumed by the human brain. It becomes difficult for the body to control itself. It happens with a lot of people that they will lose their appetite, they will become weak, their mood will deteriorate, they will go on a diet for some time, but after a while, they will start to binge, and their diet will fail. That's why our aim here is not weight loss, but healthy weight loss. And for healthy weight loss, exercise is very important. In fact, 4 main things are very important. Diet control, exercise, proper sleep, and keeping yourself stress-free. The last two points are quite obvious, but if you're facing a problem, keeping yourself stress-free, and completing your 8-hour sleep daily,
it means that you're not managing your time properly. And in such a situation, you need proper time management in your life. Waking up at 5 a.m. every morning, working for 12 hours a day, I'm strongly against this Hustle Culture type of advice.Have you ever felt like you've eaten a whole chocolate bar, but you're still hungry? After eating a lot of things, you feel like your stomach isn't full.
The reason for this is the satiety index. Some foods make you feel full, while others don't. In 1995, some researchers tested the serving of 240 calories of 38 different types of food. They found that boiled potatoes have the highest satiety index. The potato was given a score of 323. Some other things like pulses, high-fiber foods, low-fat dairy products, eggs, nuts, these things also have a very high index. This means that for the same amount of calories, if you eat food with high satiety, your stomach will feel very full. you will feel less hungry. Even though the number of calories is the same. After hearing this, some people will say that they will only eat boiled potatoes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So that they can have the least amount of calories in the day, and if they feel full, they will only eat potatoes.
But once again, this would be the wrong approach. Tweaking a few things is fine, but overall, the body needs a nutritious diet. Your aim is to lose healthy weight. You don't want to lose muscle. You don't want to lose your health, you just want to lose weight. There are 6 different essential nutrients that the body needs for optimal function. Proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. When you're on a healthy weight loss diet, you'll definitely need proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water. Now the question is, fats and carbohydrates. What about them? Many people suggest low-fat, low-carb diets.
Losing weight naturally and without suffering
Carbohydrates
What is the relationship between carbs and weight loss? The sugar from carbs is an important source of energy for the body. If the body doesn't use that energy immediately, the energy from carbs is converted into glycogen, and stored in the liver and muscles. If a person eats more carbs than his body needs, the body converts those carbs into fat cells, and stores them as fat. If this energy is not used later on, the energy remains in the form of fat cells, and this increases the weight. You might think that carbohydrates should be avoided, but this is a wrong conclusion. I would like to apologize to the fans of the low-carb keto diet, to disappoint them. But in 2017, a meta-analysis was conducted, of 32 controlled feeding studies. They measured the same amount of protein and calories, and found out whether the high-carb diet was better or the low-carb diet.
This research found that there was no benefit in weight loss, whether you eat a high-carb diet or a low-carb diet. Weight loss ultimately only affects the calorie deficit. The same calorie bank balance that I explained in the beginning. In 2012, another study was conducted in the University of Sweden to compare whether the low-fat diet was better or the low-carb diet was better. This study monitored people for 2 years, and the same conclusion was given to this study. Weight loss has nothing to do with these things. Only calories are important here. Some people even go on a high-protein diet to lose weight. Because some people have a perception that if they eat fats or carbs, they will convert into fat cells, and the body will gain weight.
But if they eat protein, only muscles will grow. It's true that protein is usually used for muscle building and muscle repairing. If you do more weight training, more exercise, more wrestling, then naturally, you'll need more protein. But if you sit on the sofa all day, don't move, don't exercise, then the excess protein you're eating, that also converts into fat.. But here, I'd like to say that if your body is suddenly deprived of carbs, then your body loses its water weight. The glycogen stores help our body retain water. So if you go on a keto diet for a week, you'll lose 1-2 lb of weight for sure.
And that's because your body has lost its water weight. As soon as you start eating carbs again, that water weight will come back. Dr. Sarah Seidelman and her team of researchers had done a study for 6 years on 15,400 people. It was published in the famous Lancet Public Health Journal. And it showed people who are on a low-carb diet, but eating more animal protein. This study found that this diet can actually reduce the lifespan. When the low-carb diet is replaced with plant protein and fat, it will be beneficial. What should be done to extend the lifespan? If we have to go for low carb, how low should it be? This study found that if the total energy coming from carbs is less than 40%, or more than 70% of the total energy coming from carbs, both of them have a higher risk for health.
This means that what we were taught in school, is very important here. A balanced diet. While losing weight, you don't need to completely remove carbs from your diet, you need to eat healthy carbs. Carbohydrates is the food for the brain. If you stop eating carbs, your mind can go crazy. Aggression, depression, nervousness, anxiety, trepidation, all these are part of it. What are healthy carbs? They are the carbs that the body slowly absorbs. They don't let the blood sugar level go up or down. And they provide a steady source of energy to the body. An example of this is whole grains, fruits, and starchy vegetables. Now let's talk about fats. You might think that eating fats will make you fat. But this fat nutrient is also an essential nutrient.
And the body also needs it. Many vitamins like Vitamin A, D, E, K, are fat-soluble vitamins. So fats are needed to absorb these vitamins in the body. Apart from this, fats are needed for hormonal balance, to store energy, and to protect our vital organs. The human brain is also made up of 60% fat. The same advice was given by the popular nutritionist Pooja Makhija. This trend of eating a low-fat diet, was opposed to this. They said that fats don't make you fat. Eating too much fat and eating the wrong kind of fat makes you fat. That's why a healthy weight loss diet is a balanced diet, where carbohydrates, proteins, and fats are all present. The next question is, what percentage should it be?
Losing weight naturally and without suffering
What is the right healthy proportion?
There is a range called Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Ranges . According to this, 45-65% of your daily calories should come from carbohydrates, 20-35% of your calories should come from fats, and 10-35% of your calories should come from proteins. The exact percentage of this range depends on your personal lifestyle choices. What is your age? How much muscle do you want to gain? Are you diabetic? What kind of food do you prefer? You can consult a professional dietitian about these things. And it would be a good idea to make a customized diet plan. If you don't want to consult a dietitian, then for a normal person who doesn't have any other health problems, it would be good to stay in this range. The next question you might ask is, how to stay in this range?
What to eat and what not to eat? Let's clear this point by point. What should you eat? You should eat whole grains. Complex carbohydrates. Apart from flour and rice, you should eat different kinds of grains, like maize, oats, barley, buckwheat, or Bajra. Eat  Bread  made from these, or eat it in a gentle. Apart from this, you should eat legumes, like chickpeas. Or lentils, different kinds of lentils. These are good sources of complex carbohydrates. They also contain fiber and protein. Then focus on other healthy foods, like fruits and vegetables. Rajma, chole, soy meat, fruits, berries, dry fruits, peanuts, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds, spices, eggs.
Dairy items like milk, curd, and paneer have healthy fats. They should be eaten in controlled amounts. It is important to mention that many people think that they are on a balanced diet. But in reality, their diet is not balanced. you must have seen many people eating 3-4 bread with half a bowl of vegetables. This is not the right proportion. Many people eat more bread and carbs in their home meals. They should increase the amount of vegetables. I mean, you should drink more water, what else? You should drink water, vegetables, green vegetables. Green is very good for the body, it has antioxidants, it's good for the skin, so I eat a lot of vegetables. Don't be stingy in buying the quantity of vegetables.
And secondly, don't bargain with the vegetable vendor. If you save 5-10 rupees from a poor person, you won't be able to build a palace. If you want to save money, save it in a burger for 150 rupees. Save it in a pizza for 400 rupees. The online food delivery apps that you use, where you spend thousands of rupees every month, save some money from there. I would say, stop relying on all food delivery apps completely. Use that money to buy nuts, seeds, fruits, and other healthy food. If you're lazy and don't want to cook, hire someone. Someone will get employment there, and you'll be able to eat healthy and tasty food. Now let's talk about whether you should not eat in a healthy weight loss diet.
The first thing is Maida. Refined carbohydrates like Maida are quickly digested in your body. It causes unhealthy spikes in your blood sugar levels. And if you eat a lot of Maida, after a few hours of eating, you'll start feeling hungry again. Because after a while, your blood sugar levels drop rapidly after eating these things. The second problem with Maida is that it contains bad cholesterol, LDL cholesterol. This clogs your arteries and increases blood pressure. you feel more hungry, and your craving for sweets increases. Second, stop eating sugar. This is the same problem with refined sugar, also known as added sugar.Added sugar is not only found in cold drinks, but also in ice creams, candies, biscuits, etc.
Third, stop eating bad fats. As I told you earlier, there are two types of fats, good fats and bad fats. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are good for us. We get these good fats from plant sources, like peanuts, olive oil, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, almonds, pistachios, walnuts, sunflower oil, and flaxseed oil. On the other hand, we need a very small amount of saturated fats. But most people consume a lot of saturated fats. They are present in butter, in raw coconut oil, or in desi ghee. If you consume these saturated fats for many years, the risk of heart attack increases. Palm oil also contains saturated fat,.
 trans fats
Trans fats which are the most harmful. Trans fats are found in refined oil, which is usually found in outside food. Fried food, fried chicken, Samosas, all have high values of trans fats, because they are deep fried foods. Deep fried foods should be avoided. Some people say that they are fear-mongering. Fear-mongering means spreading fear about unnecessary things. But the thing is, these things are actually very dangerous. You should avoid eating packaged food as much as possible. The ultra-processed food items made in the factory contain all the wrong ingredients. Flour, added sugar, artificial sweeteners, palm oil, artificial food colors, harmful preservatives.
Let's first look at the foods that contain flour. Biscuits, Fan Puff, Samosa, Hot Dog,, Pizza, Donuts, Chow mein, Spring Rolls,Cakes, Sandwiches.
Losing weight naturally and without suffering
What are the other bad things to eat?
Bad oil, the deep-fried things, I have already given examples of these. Other than added sugar, cold drinks, ice cream, candies, chocolates, biscuits, cereals, packaged juice, even the expensive biscuits, which are sold as high-fiber, multi-grain digestives, include all the refined wheat flour, sugar, palm oil, raising agents, artificial flavoring substances. Most people consume all these on a daily basis.
I'd like to give you a 30-day challenge. Stop eating the four things that are included. refined wheat flour, added sugar, bad oil or trans fats, and packaged food. Don't eat these things for 30 days, and you will see a transformation within you. After 30 days, you will feel how healthy you feel. You will get more energy in your body. You will be able to concentrate on work and studies more easily. You might think, what did I leave behind? What is left to eat apart from all these things? Don't get this wrong idea. Because there are many things left to eat apart from these things.Bread and Vegetable with very little oil or butter with very little butter.
The interesting thing is that when you start eating more of these things, and eat less of them, you will notice a transformation. Your taste buds will start changing. You'll stop craving bad food. This happens a lot with me, I never feel like eating packaged food. You'll crave for fresh fruits, fresh vegetables. If you're not used to eating fresh food, you can start with your favorite fruit or vegetable. Apart from this, while eating, learn to control your portion. Before eating, always drink a glass of water, so that you don't need to eat less. Eat on small plates, with small spoons. Eat slowly. Don't eat so much that your stomach becomes 100% full. Eat up to 80% full Japanese, people have a philosophy of eating 80% of their food.
Eat more vegetables
When you eat more vegetables, which have more fiber and more volume, you will feel less hungry, you will have less space in your stomach, and you will consume less calories. All of this is about food.
The most important thing is exercise.
There are 3 different types of exercise.
The first is stamina or cardio exercises which are important for your cardiovascular fitness. This includes swimming, running fast, or any sports. Exercises that increase your heart rate.
The second is stretching exercises, which are important for your flexibility. This includes exercises like Yoga.
The third is strength training, which is important for your muscle strength and muscle endurance.
This includes doing heavy weights, going to the gym, doing push-ups, exercises like squats and planks, or lifting dumbbells. Ideally, there should be a balance of these three types of exercises in a healthy lifestyle. But for weight loss, it doesn't matter what kind of exercises are being done, as long as these exercises are helping to burn calories. Some exercises burn more calories than others, like running, rope skipping, badminton, football, squash. Some exercises burn less calories, like playing cricket, yoga, or stretching. So you have to pay attention to this, that you burn more calories if you want more weight loss. But you should do the exercises in the form that you like. You can do Zumba {Latin-American music and dance steps} for 30 minutes, or running for 30 minutes. It's up to you. Apart from this, you should include more movement in your day-to-day life. Like walking more, using the cycle.
These small things add up the extra calories that are burned in a day. Remember that doing something is better than not doing something. Some people search for the best exercise to lose belly fat. Or the best exercise to lose facial fat. This is a big myth, friends. To some extent, a particular muscle can be toned. But sport reduction is not more or less possible. Most of the research and studies that have been done are against it. Where does our body store fat? And from where does it burn calories? And from where does it extract fat? It depends on our body. Your job is to exercise, your body will decide for itself, where to burn fat. When you do this consistently, your body will be in a good shape overall.
This actually depends on genetics, on where your body will lose fat. I'd like to mention a final point here, about stress. There's a big link between weight gain and stress. When you feel stressed, your body's cortisol levels rise. This reduces your metabolism, and your craving for fats and sugars increases. If you want to lose weight, you need to manage stress. You can do meditation, play sports, or spend time with friends and family in real life. Losing weight naturally and without suffering
Summarized
