Raiders Fans Bought Into Rich Bisaccia "Story," Be Careful Out There
Las Vegas Raiders fans were fooled over the weekend; this time, it was related to a fabrication mentioning former interim coach Rich Bisaccia.
Las Vegas Raiders fans were fooled over the weekend; this time, it was related to a fabrication mentioning former interim coach Rich Bisaccia. The Raiders found themselves enjoying their bye week, with most of their brass actively observing the college football conference championship games being held at Allegiant Stadium. Let’s not forget that Antonio Pierce still has five games left as interim…

Narrowed margins
Now, they need to be perfect. No, not literally perfect. The Green Bay Packers margin for error evaporated with Jordan Love’s injury, so the rest of the team has a big talent gap to fill.
The Packers can’t leave 15+ points on the table in the first quarter like they did against Philly. Remarkably, they still had chances late in the 4th quarter despite blowing their best chances in the first. That won’t happen with Malik Willis, Sean Clifford or another random QB pickup.
No Love Reality
Instead of 10-penalties, they’ll need 3 or less. They had great chances after early turnovers went their way. Instead, what could have been 14, turned into 6-points. Inexplicable mental mistakes, like 12-men on the field, also took a touchdown off the board in the first half.  Now, they will play without their franchise QB, so dropped passes, dropped interceptions, blown coverages, and badly missed tackles will sink them.
Trying to win without your starting QB is a tall order for any NFL team. In fact, winning 1-2 of the next 4 is a best-case scenario. Before the Love injury, Green Bay would have been favored over their next three opponents. Instead, they’ll likely be underdogs at home versus Indy, and maybe Minnesota. The Tennessee game is probably a coin toss.
Pressure on LaFleur, Hafley, Bisaccia
Maybe the Packers get a pass for sloppy play in game one. Now, that pass is expired. Matt La Fleur needs one of his most creative game plans to minimize a limited quarterback and maximize the rest of his talent. Jeff Hafley needs to solve the uneven linebacker play, while getting his new system to dictate more and respond less. Rich Bisaccia needs penalty and error free special teams’ performances, which hasn’t been the hallmark of his tenure. Obviously, coaches can only do so much. The players will need to all play better to win without Love.
Reasons for hope
Playing three average, to less than great, teams could help. So too, could two of the games being at Lambeau. Green Bay still has a strong roster full of playmakers on offense and defense. They could surprise us in a good way. But the offense is going to be choppy and hard to watch.
They need to play a lot better than they did Friday night, because their margin for error has been eliminated for the near-term. That doesn’t mean they can’t win.

Greenbay @ Chicago bears
Matt Lafleur head coach
In the first game of the season, the game plan was solid, taking the small 5 yard checkdowns, sustaining drives, and utilizing all of the players within the system to get things done. This said it's easy to say that Lafleur was amazing in this game because Aaron Jones made him look like a genius. There are still some issues with his conservative play calling that cost us sustaining more drives than we did. Taking the foot off the gas in the current NFL is a recipe for disaster, and fortunately, with the Chicago bears, the star players hid the inefficiencies of the offense. The offense coaching grade for this game due to efficiency and time of possession would be a solid C+ only because we beat the bears in the soldier field without arguably our best receiver.
Joe Berry - Defensive Coordinator
Defense that is created to generate pressure in return causing turnovers a bend don't break philosophy that has been in Lambeu since we switched to the 3-4 defense in the capers Era. I honestly believe this defense does not play to some of our star players' strengths. In this game the players again made Berry's play calling look amazing yet he still called zone defenses in 3rd and short situations allowing more third downs than necessary also not using a spy on a player that can burn you with his legs is unacceptable. Berry's refusal to adjust the game plan when not working is wasting our young, talented defense and not utilizing their skill sets that put the best player on the field the biggest chance to succeed. This said solid turnovers by our best players brought us closer to the win, even with poor defensive play calling on Berry's part. Berry gets a D+ again only because we beat the bears.
Rich Bisaccia - ST - Asst Head Coach
Special teams looked flat and uninspired at times and would end up out of position for kick returns and punt returns. The blocking was atrocious, and the players were continually out of place, causing quick tackles and easy close ins on the returnees. On punts, field goals, and kicks against the packers, there was very little drive or determination to block or tackle. This coming from a coach that's known for instilling fire in his players in this game, the fire just wasn't there. The lone bright spot was the 57-yard field goal from the rookie kicker. We won, but it had very little to do with special teams and again a lot to do with the star players on our team.
Luke Butkus - Offensive line coach
Face it without the screens end around and gadget plays we did not have a running game whatsoever. This can not be blamed on the running backs themselves this week. Dillon has come under extreme fire for his running ability. Remember, he is built to be a bruising cold weather back, not an every down starter. This game over half of his runs were met by tacklers in the backfield from horrible run blocking from the entire front line. Pass blocking was phenomenal, but we half to bloc well in all facets of the game, and in the running game, we did not execute appropriately. O-Line coach C+ for his pass blocking, but some points were deducted backseat. Our running backs were getting touched in the backfield on every run play.
Final thoughts I loved seeing us beat the bears in their house, but there are some things we need to clean up to get to the next level. Stubborn play calling is going to be the demise of Leflore and Berry if not careful. McCarthy once got so stale in his play calling that after being fired by the pack, he took a year off to study the new NFL and came back a better coach for it. Lafleur and Berry need to step back re asess and create a more diverse game plan. If the couch coaches can guess what you're going to do next, your game plan has too much vanilla in it. Holding players accountable and to higher standards would go a long way in making the difference between a contender and pretender. This team has very little confidence, lack of motivation, and no sense of urgency. This is on the coaches to create an atmosphere that shows the fire and will to win right now. We are lacking this key ingredient.
Jordan Love - QB
He was efficient and did his job, protected the football, and made key plays to win this game. The problem is he could have scored touchdowns on three more drives if he could just learn to float bullet or finesse passes when he needs to. At times, he shows pinpoint accuracy and can make the throws between the tackles. But when you get him throwing downfield, a lot of his throws are severely overthrown or under thrown this will come with time and experience he definitely has the arm we have all seen it he now just needs to learn how to control it. I like that he is a pocket passer first, then utilizes his legs when needed. In this game, his command was crisp, and we saw a good but not great YET quarterback.

Embrace Between Maxx Crosby And Rich Bisaccia Evokes Response From Raiders Fans
Make no mistake, the Raiders escaped Week 5 with a victory, but the story continues to be Josh McDaniels' awful coaching. A postgame embrace between Maxx Crosby and Rich Bisaccia evoked a strong response postgame; maybe the team really did make a mistake last January.

Ill-prepared Packers drop opener
The Green Bay Packers looked like a team that is not quite ready for prime time Friday night. In a sloppy loss to the Philadelphia Eagles the Packers new defense looked every bit as bad as the old defense. The Packers were also plagued by penalties, bad throws, dropped passes and a kicker who can’t kick. In other words it was a typical opening day for a Matt LaFleur coached team.
While the new Packers defense is a work-in-progress the early results were not good. They couldn’t stop the run or pass and committed crucial penalty after crucial penalty. Because everything is new I’ll give new DC Jeff Hafley a week or two to get accustomed to calling plays, but if it doesn’t improve this hire may be yet another failure by LaFleur. The Joe Barry hiring was a travesty and the Rich Bisaccia hiring is looking worse by the minute.
Hopefully Jordan Love’s injury is not serious and the Packers redeem themselves next week in Lambeau against the Colts. But first impression puts the Packers as Super Bowl pretender and not Super Bowl contender.

WEEK 7 - EAGLES @ RAIDERS
Tumblr media
The Raiders dominated the Eagles in all phases, scoring on five straight possessions and at one point going on a 30-0 run with four different Raiders scoring touchdowns. Under new interim coach Rich Bisaccia, the Raiders have won their 2nd straight game and lead the AFC West at 5-2. Eagles fall to 2-5 and their promising start now looks in jeopardy.

Week 7 Recap
Tumblr media
For the second week in a row, the Las Vegas Raiders have come up victorious. Three takeaways from their two wins. When they score over 30-points per game, when Derek Carr passes over 300-yards and when the defense gets pressure you expect a W in that column for the Raiders.
Under interim Head Coach Rich Bisaccia the team as responded well under his leadership, after taking over for Jon Gruden, going 2-0. One advantage to the teams success, is that they have former head coaches who are on the team such as Gus Bradley, Tom Cable and Rod Marrineli. That is leadership on one side of the ball.
On the other side of the ball, Derek Carr has proven to be the leader in the Raiders locker room. Carr has his teammates attention and respect. Carr finished the game, going 31-34 for 323-yds and 2TDs. Carr also trust his teammates. Darren Waller was out of Sunday's game due to an ankle injury. Foster Moreau stepped in and scored a TD. Moreau finished the game with 60-receieving yards. Ruggs, Renfrow, and Edwards also contributed to the Raiders passing attack. With weapons at Carr's disposal, the Raiders will be though to beat. The defense also stepped up, with Yannick Ngakoue picking up 2-sacks in the game.
Las Vegas is going into the bye week 5-2, first place in the AFC West. The Raiders will travel to the east coast as they play the New York Giants who are 2-5 this season.

Raiders sign WR Jordy Nelson, release Michael Crabtree

Raiders sign WR Jordy Nelson, release Michael Crabtree
ALAMEDA, Calif./March 15, 2018 (AP)(STL.News) — As soon as Jordy Nelson was released by the Green Bay Packers, the Oakland Raiders put on a full-court press to acquire the former Pro Bowler.
His former position coach and coordinator in Green Bay, Edgar Bennett, and new Raiders coach Jon Gruden immediately called to bring him out for a free-agent visit. Quarterback Derek Carr picked him up at the airport and gave him a tour of the Bay Area.
Then the Raiders offered a two-year deal worth a reported $15 million that persuaded him to cancel his other scheduled visits and sign with Oakland.
“The plan was to make some other trips, but you never know what’s going to happen,” Nelson said Thursday. “You get to place and you enjoy it and they enjoy it. Obviously, there’s a financial part of that. One thing I didn’t want to do is fly around the country just because. I didn’t want to waste my time or anyone else’s time.”
The Raiders wasted little time Thursday attempting to rebuild under their first-year coach, releasing receiver Michael Crabtree to make room for Nelson; signing safety Marcus Gilchrist, linebacker Tahir Whitehead, running back Doug Martin and fullback Keith Smith; and announcing a deal with blocking tight end Derek Carrier that had been agreed to earlier in the week.
But the most high-profile move came at receiver, where Nelson hopes to bounce back from a down season and help Carr and the Raiders get back to the high level they produced at in 2016.
The 32-year-old Nelson struggled last season with 53 catches for 482 yards and six TDs, recording a career-low 9.1 yards per reception as Aaron Rodgers missed more than half the year with injuries.
“I can make plays,” Nelson said. “I look forward to just getting out, getting in rhythm with Derek and start forming that chemistry with him that I’ve had with Aaron for the last 10 years. Continue to build off that. Just see what happens. Go out there and play my role in this offense. Make the plays that are available.”
Nelson had made the Pro Bowl in 2014 and won AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2016 when he led the league with 14 touchdown catches a year after missing the entire season with a right knee injury.
Nelson had four 1,000-yard seasons in Green Bay, including 1,519 yards on 98 catches in 2014. In 136 career games, he has 550 catches for 7,848 yards and 69 TDs.
Crabtree had a $7.7 million cap hit for this season but there is no dead money with his release. The 30-year-old Crabtree had 232 catches for 2,543 yards and 25 touchdowns in three seasons with the Raiders.
The other big moves came on defense where Oakland added two potential starters to fill holes at safety and linebacker.
Whitehead joins the Raiders after spending his first six seasons with Lions. He has 378 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, four interceptions and 18 passes defensed in 93 career games.
Gilchrist has played seven seasons with the Chargers, Jets and Houston. He has 11 interceptions, 33 passes defensed, four sacks, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He will likely step in as a starter alongside Karl Joseph.
Martin, who grew up in nearby Stockton, is a two-time Pro Bowler but averaged just 2.9 yards per carry the past two seasons, the lowest for any back in the league. That was part of what led to his release by the Buccaneers last month.
He joins a running back room that is currently led by Marshawn Lynch, along with youngsters DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard.
“I have been the lead back for most of my career, but what enticed me in coming here is the potential for this team,” Martin said. “We have Gruden coming. The front line and just being home. I was born here. This is my homecoming. Those are the things that enticed me on signing here.”
The 29-year-old Martin rushed for 1,454 yards as a rookie in 2012, including 251 in a win at Oakland. He also ran for 1,402 yards in 2015 but has failed to reach 500 yards in any of his other four seasons as he was hampered by injuries and a suspension for performance-enhancing substances.
Smith gives the Raiders another fullback along with Jamize Olawale. Smith, a converted linebacker, played only sparingly on offense with the Cowboys but was an important part of the special teams under coordinator Rich Bisaccia, who now holds the same job with the Raiders.
Carrier has 36 catches for 327 yards and one TD in 50 games in his career. He caught eight passes for 71 yards last season with the Rams.
