Literally two episodes in a row. The first episode involved a girl's parents poisoning her until she starts hallucinating that she's being possessed by a demon, so that she's claws herself bloody and is literally fucking dying. They also murdered her aunt and framed her by putting her aunt's body in the fucking room where she's lying chained to the bed more than half dead. And then the writers just apparently forgot about the whole "yeah we murdered your aunt and tried to frame you for it" thing because that never gets mentioned again. she forgives her poisoning, drugging, literally murderous family members because the writers say she should, and they all live happily ever after :|

I really fucking think someone on this writing team abused their kids and is now literally using the show to shame their estranged kids into forgiving them. I can't think of any other reason someone would not only allow this shit once, but literally twice in a row.

Literally, what the absolute fuck. And lets not forgive the racism with the second example, because the writers were framing the hotheaded irresponsible Black girl who doesn't want to forgive her friends' abusive parents as bad and mean and cruel and in the wrong for uh......hating the people who abused her friend.

Literally how is the show more homophobic in 2022 than it was in the 80s.

Too Many Characters But The Writers Don't Know How To Give Them All Personalities Syndrome.

Like anything Chris Chibnall's whole shittastic era of Doctor Who, where the companions quite literally exist for no other purpose than to be monologued at. Or many other things whose names I can't be bothered to remember right now. Or like, so far, the first two episodes at least of the 2022 reboot of Quantum Leap.

in contrast, look at Farscape. Everyone's core personality is firmly established before the first episode is over. Farscape has like eight characters who all get introduced in the first episode, assuming I'm counting them right, (I cannot fucking count people accurately for some reason, correct me if I'm wrong) and before the episode is over you already know what kind of person they are and know what to expect from them

The 2022 reboot of Quantum Leap, meanwhile, hasn't established a single person's personality and we just finished watching the second episode.

If you do not have a clear idea of what each of your character's personalities looks like and what makes them different from eachother, then do not try to start out with half a dozen characters.

More characters does not automatically make your writing good

pausing pern posting while we catch up on the new quantum leap. newer episodes are not as terrible but these fucking writers are trying to inssit that time travel isn't actually likely to cause changes to the timelike and it's like.....insult of your choice, that is literally the entire plot of this show. Why are you writing episodes for QUANTUM LEAP if you don't want time travel to change the timeline. Go write your boring coward shit somewhere else.

I hate it when there's a sequal or something like Quantum Leap's reboot where people love to defend the shitty writing by saying, "You shouldn't compare it to the show it's literally based on!!! You have to take it just as it is on its own!! Stop comparing it to what came before!!!"

Like, no, actually, you do not get to say that.

If you do reboot of an old series, you are, in fucking fact, inviting comparisons and critiques about what you do wrong that the first one did right. By pure fucking fact that you choose to do a sequel/reboot rather than original fiction.

If you don't want your shitty new version that does everything wrong to constantly be compared to the much older work that is, despite its age, immensely more progressive, then don't fucking write reboots or sequels. Write original fiction.

You don't get to write a continuation for a series, butcher everything that made the original work, and then cry and complain when everyone points out all the ways you're failing that the original got right.

Bad writing is bad writing, and bad writing in comparison to good writing is even more obvious and blatant.

You don't get to be mad when people compare Quantum Leap 2: Electric Boogaloo to the original Quantum Leap.

Especially not when Quantum Leap 2022 is so far racist, homomisic, fucking demonizing wolves in 2023, and had multiple episodes in a row telling abused kids they have to forgive their abusive parents otherwise they're a bad person >.>

Like just admit you enjoy a show that's terribly written. Don't insist that it's above reproach and shouldn't be compared to the show it's literally based on and the only reason it exists in the first place.
