“DMZ” Series Coming to HBO Max
HBO Max is giving DMZ a four-part limited event series order. Roberto Patino is writing the series and serving as showrunner and an executive producer. The pilot episode will be directed by Ava DuVernay, who also serves as executive producer. DMZ will star Rosario Dawson, Benjamin Bratt, Hoon Lee, Freddy Miyares, and Jordan Preston Carter.
DMZ, based on the Vertigo series by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli, is set in New York City after a second civil war which left Manhattan a demilitarized zone, or DMZ. Alma Ortega (Dawson) is a medic who is on a journey to find her lost son. Parco Delgado (Bratt) is the leader of a powerful gang in the DMZ who wants to rule this new world.

The streamer has ordered four episodes of the limited series, a futuristic drama set amid a second American civil war and is based on the DC Comics series.
Production on the series is scheduled to begin in 2021.
