The unraveling of a person, with all their contrast and versions of self, is the most beautiful aspect of relating for me. The riding through a multitude of experiences, life challenges and all of the beautiful moments is a dream come true to my heart and mind.
The knowing that with time I will encounter multiple facets, each one a new world to explore. Every version of you whether in your darkness or light is an invitation to discover not just who you are, but also who I am within the context of my own journey—and that is priceless. It is within this dance of discovery that my affection deepens, it’s within this complexity that my love expands and solidifies into roots.
Roots that will remain loyal to showing up in the discovery of you.

Plant of the Day
Monday 13 May 2024
Making a show in the window display of the houseplant shop ‘Rooted’ in Aberdeen was a specimen of an Alocasia species (giant taro, elephant’s ears). This architectural plant has impressive foliage and will thrive in a shady corner.

You see, being mobile, you’re using more water, more carbon dioxide than you would if you were still rooted.

Christianity is attempting to teach humans oneness and unity. People caught up in skin complexions and nationalism can not comprehend that.
Yes I. That’s a deep and true word.
Christianity, at its core, is about the oneness of humanity in Christ—“There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). The Gospel calls us beyond divisions of tribe, race, and nation into a higher unity, rooted in the Spirit of God.
Tewahedo (ተዋሕዶ, täwaḥədo) is a Ge’ez word that means “being made one” or “unity.”
“In the mystic tradition of the Church, there is a unity of faith and doctrine. The unity of the Church, however, must be manifested in the unity of its members. Unity implies the kind of love that Christ showed to us on the Cross. Unity implies that all Christians are one in the spirit of humility and forgiveness.” — H.I.M. Haile Selassie I, Address to the World Council of Churches, Addis Ababa, 1971

Drop any idea of 'feeling better'. Let any dream of 'peace' fall away. Let the image of how this moment ‘should’ be dissolve into the silent ground of Now. Instead of trying to get there, be here, fully, with the entire weight of your being. Feel your body sink into the generous earth. Feel your belly rise and fall with each soft breath. If there is sadness here, let it be. If there is joy here, let it be. If there is numbness here, let it be. If there is uncertainty here, let it be. If there is some unspeakable emptiness here, let it be. Consider the possibility that there is no mistake here. No thought or feeling unwanted. No appearance in the moment which is working against you. Be what you are. Be the vast field, the limitless space, in which all thoughts and feelings come and go, effortlessly, naturally. Stop trying to get 'there'. Stop trying to 'feel better'. Stop rushing to future. Bow to the present. Know its sacredness. Feel its warmth. You may not feel ‘better’ right away, or ever, but you will feel alive, grounded, rooted. You may not get there, but you may fall in love with Here. Which is all there really is.

“ Many of our cultural narratives and pursuits are based on how productive we are, what we can gain, and how we can improve our shiny human exteriors.
The heroine’s journey does the opposite: it asks us to remove our masks, shed our skin, and arrive humble and naked in the underworld of our being.”
— Carly Mountain, Descent & Rising
