Located on the ground floor of Menara KEN, Director’s Cut (@directors_cut_ttdi) is run by the folks behind,er, The Whisky Bar, and boasts an impressive lineup of at least 700 whiskies, both official and independent bottlings. Besides whisky, food and beer, they also have a cocktail “culinary lab” with a list of drinks made in collaboration with a chemist, using a RoTAvAP R-300. Got to try the clarified ‘Crystal Espresso Martini’ which was actually pretty tasty, and a mulled wine riff called “His Excellency”. In gen Chem lab I was so concerned that I broke two glasswares. Like how will I ever be a successful chemist if I’ve broken glasswares? Too accident prone. Too clumsy.
Here’s the stats of actual chemists:
Z: occasionally drops things. Gets frustrated when adapters get stuck and hits them hard enough with tweezers that they break
L: Occasionally fumbles flasks. Broke the rotavap as a rite of passage
S: drops things constantly. Broke the rotavap as a rite of passage. Then broke the other as well.
O: rarely fumbles flasks to the point of breaking them, but breaks test tubes like they’re disposable. Shattered a graduated cylinder. Has not broken the rotavap yet
Me: Occasionally breaks a flask. Manages to shatter test tubes instead of simply cracking them. Dropped a column and flattened the faucet. Broke the rotavap as a rite of passage.

I was helping Mam April in preparing the reagents for Biochem lab this 10:30 when you arrived. You inmediately assited the student returning their borrowed appratus and said your good morning to us. I was busy in the activity of SHS and I did let you took over the dispensing area. We were both waiting and checking for each other for the lunch as Mam Danica and Mam Anj prepared a lunch for the WCC Committee. We decided to go at office to check if food is available already since we're both hungry. Unfortunately, food is jot yet there but pizza is there and we had to take a slice of pizza to ease our hunger. We came back in the lab after grabbing a slice of pizza. We kept on saying that we're both hungry. We waited for the food and had a convo that I forgot the topics we talked about.
Then, Mam Joan called in the office to ask forna favor to assist Mam Anj in picking-up the food they ordered at Rina's mom. They immediately staretd opening the food to grab lunch. We decided to just take part since there were still lab classes. When we return, we immediately grab lunch but I had to assist the sampinit and Sotto's group. When I returned, we started eating our lunch. I can see that you were enjoying the food and kept praising the food. You even mentioned that you did not take your dinner last night and you're super hungry which I called you out but kept shifting the topic. You even asked how is patient counselling is usually done sinfe Aye, Val and Kyle were part of a team which I explained. I asked how how were you paying for electric and water bills. You said that your elecctril.was reloadable and water is equally divided by number of occupants. You hate the idea of asking your roomate for their payment since you do want to carry the burden of paying for them. While I was preparing for OrgChem reagent, I sat in the chair and you sat beside me while having your avocado ice cream. When I sat in my table, I received a call from Doc DG to explain the latest activity in our experiment. You were busy assiting the OrgChem and thesis studebts while I'm on my phone and had to be assited by Kyle and Aye since my ID got ice cream. When Zy was in the lab, he assisted you in the students returning their borrowed glaaswares. Meanwhile, I was checking for the reagents for tomorrow's lab. I brought the Inorg lab reagents and you immediately assisted me in preparing the reagents. I prepared for the Group 1 and 5 cations while you prepared for the 3M nitric acid and Doc Kevin came in the office to remind me of pH meter and thermometer he'll bringing with him tomorrow. When Bien came back in the lab, he can't stop talking and bragging his spectro experience in his class. You both instructed then to wash the glasswares. You also helped me in dispensing for Pcog class and you mentioned about your long vacation next week for the computation of your daily rate since you asked your mom if you're Dada can pay for your rate on Tuesday since you will be absent from work. Val went in the office to ask me to choose between ice cream and sweet corn and I said ice cream and I decided the same for you as well. When I retuned from office, you gave the ice cream Val bought for us. After dispensing, we sat in the table and chatted before deciding to grab dinner at office later. When Rowel came in the lab to return the hot plate, he asked us if we can grab dinner since there were remaining foods. You even shared a funny story about waiting for them at home since no one is home and your house is locked casue they're away. You had to wait until they come home for you to enter the house. Mam Danica teased you about your dating status and your mum about it. I shared a part of my story about blnot doing any household chores at home which you called me again, "Princess" After checking the CDDD lab, you said your goodbye already and you said that you might sleep immediately since today is tiring.

Oh yeah, rotavaps generally don't come with the vacuum pump, so you'll want to look for that online too. Should be less expensive than the evaporator itself though.
Is it possible to get a rotavap for cheaper than $1000 and have it be any good at all
