I suspect this one is a female because I saw no trace of a ruby crown in any of my photos, although it is hidden in the males most of the time.

Also this is as close as they ever come to standing still.

The "king" part of this bird's name has certainly gone to their heads. I've seen these little guys pick on some pretty big birds, with notable success. It pays to be little and mean in the bird world!
