Silver Vanrouge, Knight of Evening Dawn

A small fan-comic based credit song « Clockwork Quick and Lightning Slow (A Spell to make all things well) » from Ancient Magus Bride’s OVA Those Awaiting a Star. The eerie and unusual but yet peacefulmelody, along with the fairy lullaby like lyrics, reflected the journey of Silver Vanrouge through Book 7 and his relationship with his family.

I don’t know why but there is somethings between Diasomnia and the Ancient Magus Bride (both manga and anime). Both stories talk are about the relation between humans and fairies(and others supernatural/no-humans beings), about healing inner wounds: the ones of a close friends or family members, a totally stranger or a simple neighbor, or the ones deep inside ourself… but also about how life is precious as well as family, ours relationships and connections with others.

Tears of a Dragon…

A fan-comic based on the climax of Legend of Vox Machina season 1… More the Book 7 goes to the final confrontation with Overbloted Malleus, more I feel that I need to draw a crossover/fanart based on that particular scene of that show. When Vex’hallia take off Percy's mask as he possess by Orthax and his desire of vengeance, revealing his face, his true face…

Since all those years I always knew that Book 7 ending would be a big emotinal turmoil…

and...

And I don't think to cut off his horns in order to stop him is the best solution and cure to save him!

It will only repeating History again ! The knight slaying with his mighty Sword of Truth the evil Dragon, or the Dawn Knight defeating Maleficia. Only recreate a tragic circle…

This time it is love and understanding that can save the day, no magical sword. Silver ( and in some way may be Yuu, and Malleus too) is the key to end the curse…

I know it’s the kind of line that can turn quickly to cliché but nothing is stronger than love and only that can heal wounds and a broken, lonely heart…

Both the Greatest Foe than the Devoted Protector

I had this illustration in mind since I wrote that essay on Malleus’Overbolt music theme. Since how goes chapter 7 with each Dorms Leaders facing their Phantom, their greatest fear or darkest side. I have the feeling that at the end, Malleus will confront that loneliness that haunt him to long and froze him in the darkness and finaly be able to protect his familly and all the persons dear to him…

I had already made an Diasomnia illustration based on the lyrics and the haunting music of In Noctem by Nicolas Hooper, now I think with Pippin's Song, Edge to the Night, it fits so well to the journey of Malleus…

Fading light

More Diasomnia Arc goes on, more I wanted to do an illustration with Malleus's Overbolt form inspired by one of Evylind Earle's Maleficent concept art for Maleficent and Sleeping Beauty. When I started to sketch some ideas, Part 4 has been released and... I wasn't expected so such angst, such much sadness. There was since the beginning of that Arc but... It's just... I cannot find the words. Certainly, with Idia, Malleus's Arc is and will one of the most saddess and emotional.

I think that the song To Edge of Night fits well with all of this...

While Malleus becoming that dangerous, dark Dragon-Fea Lord, like in old fairies tales, he try desperately to protect the lasts gleam of light... The ones of his family, friends and love ones... Even if the price to pay is that all in plunged in darkness and dream world...

The Horn of Rohan

I was working on this illustration since december and I so happy to finally finish it ^^

I think, of all the cultures of Middle-Earth in the books and the movies, Rohan is my favorite (alongside the Elves of course ;-) ). When I frist saw Lord of the Rings the Towers Towers twelve years ago, the land of the Rohirrims made a such impression on me than it never leave from my heart. The music, the celtic/saxon/viking inspiration through all the visual design and of course all the characters from both the Trilogy, the Appendix or the movies...

Winter Wolf

A winter art of Uiliam McTíre ^^

When I start picturing this illustration, I was thinking about Uiliam (and the “spiritual“ representation of his wolf form) with somekind of winter's loneliness. But while I was painting this, I remembered one of Rebecca Tripp's Legend of Zelda Medley. As I was re-listening that specific medley which I already love, I feel a big warm in my heart, just like with the music-track “Alone in the World“, and realize how much this medley fit to Uilliam's journey and personality.

Winter, night and loneliness, doesn't alway means sadness and being apart of everything... or everyone. Sometimes those time of quiet and solitude help to remember what is really important... To see the beauty and light there were once only darkness. A time for rest and peace.

And at Spring, when the ice will melt, freeing the lake, it will be time to move one and embrasse a new dawn...

(Note: Uilliam McTíre is the main protagonist of my original story MacTíre, a comics inspired Irish and Scottish medieval folklore)

Presents

A special art-comic for Malleus’s birthday ^////^

I know, it’s a bit late but I wanted to do something special. It’s true that I do a lot of arts about that dragon. I just love him, both because his my favorite character (and I am super hype and nervous for the next of Chapter 7) but also he had a very special place in my heart, just like Ashitaka, Chihiro or all LotR’s characters…

It’s quite long to explain, but every time that things became  hard, and seems to be unsurmontable as a heavy burden, along with peoples, theres is universes, stories that give me courage. Twisted Wonderland and in particular Malleus ones  of these stories, of these characters who remind me that even in the grayness of a rainy day, there is always an opportunity to smile. Little moments of happiness that warm the heart, like a good hot chocolate or tea ^^.

Malleus’s Birthday Event had been upload just after a very tense work period at the university. Read the new Personal Story with the interactions between Malleus and Ace and Malleus Groovy Cards give me that warm and reminded me of one of Rebecca Tripp’s medley cover (link below :-)). The music and the poem (from where the lyrics in the art are from) increase that feeling, that whatever things are rough and hard, there is always someone, in a story and/or in real life that guide us and give hope. It’s remind me how important and precious relationships are.    

I think that bond to other whatever it’s with a parent, a friends, classmate/workmate or a lover, is the core of Malleus’s inner journey. Even he is a loner because his personality and social statut, he is looking for that human connection, to open himself to other…

A small artwork of my three main protagonists for my original comics Mac Tíre; Uilliam McTíre the Faoladh touched by Fate, Aisling the seeker shieldmaiden and Kieran the guardian Ghillie Dhu.

These last few months had been kinda heavy with a lot of headlines and issues. Now I am ready to back to work on my different projects, current and futur :-)

Adrian von Zielger is one of my favorite composers and his Celtic score, specialy Wolf Blood, Ancient Storms or Kingdom of Bards are one of my main inspirations for Mac Tíre’ universe ^^

Official artwork of Uilliam, the main protagonist of my original comic MacTíre, an fantasy Celtic inspired adventure.

Uilliam McTíre is a wolf shapeshifter, a faoladh. Only survivor of a lost and fate touched Clan, all his life he knew only fascination, fear or distrust from human and even others werewolves. Despite being outcast, he try everything to help the innocents. When the omen of the return of an ancient darkness appears, Uilliam meet the young shieldmaiden Aisling. Together they will travel across the Isle and found a way to heal the broken earth…

King of Skies, Queen of Earth and the Princess of Men

An Monster Hunter’s commission that I paint few months ago, based on a sweet interaction with Chichae aftermath a Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian’s Quest.

The idea was that, in the futur, Chichae befriended with a Metallic Raths couple and the two Flying Wyvernes will stay at her side, looking together on their Kingdom ^^

The Name of the River

Time seems to have pass so quickly, like a moutains brook during the first day of spring. How many things and memories has been lost and found, over and over ? As he stand in the secret deep of the River, Haku smilling as he remember the Promise than him and Chihiro made, years ago.

In his heart Haku knew that him and Chihiro will meet again. Holding on his memory of her , the dragon couldn't never thanks her enough for the treasure she gave to him.

Yes, Sen, Chihiro, save him from Yubaba’s influence, returning him back his freedom, his memories. But more that everything, she give him his Name.

After Chihiro had return in the Human World, Haku seek for his own World. He finally found it as a new river. She wasn't the one he once protected, but never he feel so much at home.

He became once again Nigigayami Kohaku Nushi. The Spirit of the Swift Kohaku River.

It’s being a while that I wanted to paint an adult/river spirit version of Haku. ^^

I recently rewatch Spirited Away and I was drawing this, I began to imagine what will happen to Haku and Chihiro. How they will meet again? Does Chihiro will make a new journey in the Spirit Realms ? If yes, it will the same place or an other locations, may be one of the train’s station…

So i began to sckeching some doodles and let see how it’s work… :-)
