Something that has been driving me insane about the credits are these sections with the fish so please bear with me whilst I do a mini deep dive (hehe) into fish discourse because YO, we need to talk about these fish!

Notice how at the beginning of the credits we actually have two white fish swimming along beside one another; one with bright turquoise eyes and the other with black.

A little while later the fish begin to circle each other and a droplet falls into the water between them. As the disturbance ripples out from the center, one of the fish dives deeper into the water and changes its colour to black; symbolizing Geto's change and descent into darkness

Then we have this heartbreakingly beautiful moment with Gojo and Geto:

I cannot stop thinking about how long Gojo watches the black fish for as it swims across the screen, whereas Geto's eyes are lowered the moment the white fish appears and he closes them as it swims past.

Throughout the credits, Gojo and Geto have been making their way towards each other through the pouring rain (or mostly sitting and waiting in Geto's case). At the end, they meet each other under a bridge and as they walk away together we see the fish a final time, swimming together again in a puddle formed by the heavy rain.

Geto walks on the left in the light, as the white fish swims close to his head, almost invisible in the brightness of the light. Whilst Gojo walks on the right in the shadow with the black fish swimming further away but still close by.

The fish speed after the two men before disappearing completely under the water just before the camera pans up and we watch as Gojo pulls Geto in for a hug as they walk away, before he's playfully shoved away by Geto.

There's a lot going on the credits (+ opening) that is absolutely killing me but man, these fish?! Breathtaking.

Gentle Reader,

I am reporting back from the show front. I survived. Here are my thoughts:

• Aegon as a father had me 🥹

• Helaena is a doll; they should use her more

•Aegon actually seems to really care about the smallfolk? Like this has me wondering, if the dance hadn’t happened, if he could have really been a great king

•Criston Cole. I am not a formal Alicole shipper, but you know, he seems to really care about her. He seems very loyal, and there was something tender in the way she put his white cape back on him. I still like Rhaenicent, but I don’t mind this. He defended her to Aemond which was sweet.

•Aemond saying his mother was a fool seems less harsh in context, because he honestly seems in his feelings about her being angry at him. Maybe he still can be Mommy’s Favorite War Criminal.

•B&C: they really downplayed it, but it was still horrifying. I was upset. I saw how Aegon loved his boy, and how Helaena looked panicked and terrified even if she wasn’t granted nearly enough time and space to convey it. Phia still made her eyes shine when it came to her acting. They did not show well enough how Daemon encouraged this. I think the look on his face discussing B&C conveyed it, but I don’t think the audience can pick up on it enough truthfully. I do not have high hopes for this fandom or GA.

•Cregan Stark felt super Stark-y. Almost parody of a Stark.

• While I think the line about Aemond needing to fear Rhaenyra is cheesy considering Aemond’s skill and general unhinged behavior, I loved Rhaenys giving Daemon pushback. Love her being sick of his shit. She’s a character I have always wanted to really love, but at times, the writers make choices for her that don’t always make a ton of sense. But that was a good scene

•I’m predicting we’ll see Corlys having conflicting feelings and heading towards his shift in allegiances this season. Maybe not a full shift, but some waffling.

All in all, it could have been worse.

Underrated Sonic & Nine moment

So i was rewatching Sonic Prime, specifically episode 7, when i took notice of a scene that i kind of didn't pay much attention to in first watch, what with everything that happened during and after that same episode.

Sonic and Nine are escaping from the CC when they find the place Nine's ship is at, Nine doesn't hesitate after seeing the guards, he sneaks his way close to them, and he takes care of them with his Tails. It was awesome.

What looked more interesting to me this time watching, however, was Sonic's reaction.

Maybe it's just me, but once Nine goes to attack the robots, Sonic looks a little confused.

It's after Nine jumps over the ship, behind the robots, that Sonic seems to understand Nine's plan. Then...

He smiles, and once again i could be interpreting this wrong, but he looks sort of impressed? Like, he wasn't expecting that Nine would do that but he seems happy for it either way.

Finally...

He tells Nine that he's full of surprises, and i can't describe his face as anything but fond.

But the best part about this is the context. See, i think the reason why Sonic was surprised was because that's not something he would expect out of Tails.

Now, sadly we don't really see *that* much from Tails, but we do get to see him in battle two times.

The first one is during the fight were Sonic fell for Eggman's trap, on this one, Tails is only seen in the Tornado. Now, this is a common sight, while the plane might be technically Sonic's, it is Tails that uses it more often. Now this by itself wouldn't tell us much, Tails fighting in the Tornado is normal, and there's no reason why he wouldn't use it.

No, what is interesting, is the other example of Tails fighting.

In this fight, we see that Tails fights using some sort of machine he created, the way it works he can shoot at badniks from afar, this way he can fight while keeping his distance from the enemy.

The way Tails fights here, it seems he prefers not getting close during a fight.

That was why Sonic was perplexed by Nine's actions, Tails's (probably) wouldn't have chosen to get close to the robots like that.

And that's what makes this moment even more sweet. Here we have Sonic witnessing one of the ways Nine and Tails are different, and feeling impressed by it! telling him he's full of surprises with a fond expression! Nine and Tails being different was presented as something nice!

This gives me hope that maybe at some point Sonic will tell Nine that he cares about him beyond Tails, that he has good qualities separate from him that Sonic admires, that under the projection and misunderstandings, Sonic and Nine did have a genuine bond.

Favourite stsg moments: JJK S2 Episode 1

I like the hypocrisy of Alicent & Crispy getting together bc it’s like you hate and blame rhaenyra for rejecting you and you didn’t want to be her “whore” but you ended up being Alicent’s?? and Alicent looking down at Rhaenyra for giving it to crispy but here you are, the devoutly religious woman who’s chasing after her pleasure and using him as a sex toy essentially (which she deserved bc she had to deal with viserys, the walking dead) but tho shalt not throw stones at glass house type of thing. I didn’t really like B&C bc one, I’m still salty over maelor being erased atp and two, this scene was important to helaenas descent to madness, her giving up herself to die to save her kids, pleading for their life w/ bribing & begging, her offering maelor to die bc he was so young, B&C deceiving her & killing jaehaerys instead furthering traumatizing her and the guilt was so heavy and severe that she couldn’t look maelor in the eye for the rest of her life up to the point where she committed. I didn’t want to see the gore of them actually commit lying that to Jahaerys which I’m thankful that they didn’t show bc just the sounds and his struggling was too much imo but I guess how they played Helaena in the show, I guess it does make sense why she reacted the way she reacted but idk. I’m a little iffy about season 2 bc alicole being a thing, B&C, maelor doesn’t exist, and apparently if what they say is true, nettles would be erased and her storyline would intertwine w/ Rhaena. Only thing I liked so far was team black screen time, daemon out for vengeance, Jace trying to hold it down for his mother but still grieving his bby bro, CREGAN!!, rhaenyras pure grief (when she found lucerys and arraxs remains and broke down, I was breaking down with her. My poor bby) and funerals pyre, and Jace returning to his mom and he couldn’t finish his sentences but he’s so heartbroken and mama rhaenyra holding him and grieving together, ugh so heartbreaking. Rhaenyra, you deserved better. I also liked the parallels between Aegon & Rhaenyra, the stark difference in emotions (Aegon going about his life w/o care as if there wasn’t an war going on & rhaenyra being so broken down w/ grief due to the murder of her son)

I agree with these sentiments, nonnie!

It was an interesting first showing, but there are some creative decisions I’m a little unsure about. Some of the changes I like (e.g. Daemon’s primary target being Aemond, but “if you can’t find him I suppose anyone with silver hair and a cock will do” etc., I enjoy the desperation this lends to him and how it highlights just how low he’s willing to go to hit back), whereas others….. (ahem, the actual B&C scene)…. I’m just a little bewildered by. Not enough to be soul-crushed by it or anything. Just going “oh. Okay, then. Hm.”

I have to agree for me that the highlight of this episode was The Blacks for me. Things happening on the other side of the fence just seemed a little weird to me. Aemond, you better fuck up with that turdsmile boi, you ain’t got nothing to be proud of. Aegon was a welcome surprise, though! And Helaena was so tragically lovely. Alicole made me snort because of course they’re a thing, no way they’re both that extremely uppity and not simultaneously using it as a shield to cover their indiscretions. (Still, good for her, damn.)

But yeah, The Blacks. Goddamn. Rhaenyra? I’m going to need to sit on my feels for a while before I’m emotionally ready to talk about all that. God, it was a gut-punch. And Jace? Ugh, fucking same. I had a meltdown in the car park after work watching that. Rhaenys was so epic, she put our idiot Uncle Daddy man in his PLACE and it was deserved. And the memes hath ruined me for I fear I snorted when I saw Daemon wearing that fuckass murder-hood to sneak into KL. (And like, if that’s the way the show was gonna do it, why the fuck waste time with assassins??? Daemon could just slip in himself, lazy old bastard.) Daemon was so hot, though.

And before TG stans come for me, please know I do not endorse the murder of Jaehaerys. It was fucking horrible, as it is in the book. But, as y’all still love Aemond, I too still love Daemon. Why? Cuz they are not real. Please keep that in mind before sending me hate, thank you.

Yeah. Unfffffff. Daddy Daemon werked it this episode. Cannot actually wait for the fuckery to come.
