Day 12 : Favorite Coach

Araki Masako 💜

There aren't many choices here, so it wasn't too difficult to choose who my favorite coach was. Still, I was pretty torn between Masako Araki of Yōsen and Masaaki Nakatani of Shūtoku. Then I remembered how cool Masako was, and that it just had to be her.

When it's about her coaching, I cannot say so much. She is a coach of a power school, she surely deserves that place. I am guessing it's because she used to be a really good basketball player herself and knows how to put misbehaving kids into the line, by hitting them with a sword, of course. Still, I can say she is pretty dedicated, gathering CDs and always having game strategies prepared in advance.

When it's about her personality and past, there is much to talk about! She is a P.E. teacher in Yōsen! It is kinda in line with her, somehow, as I can see her as someone who seeks some form of action in her life. She also has a really interesting hobby! It is motocycles. When she was young, she even used to be a part of a biker gang! Now, if you know something about Japanese culture, you probably heard of how big of a problem gangs are. Biker gangs are no different! Making noise, disrupting traffic and smashing things, were just some of the things Japanese biker gang members would do. Well, Masako being part of a biker gang can only mean she was a savage, a rebel, and a troublemaker! Well, now that she is older and more mature, she doesn't do any rebellious activities, nor is she a part of any biker gangs. She only takes care of motocycles now! There is a silly story related to her past that always makes me giggle. It is about her and Genta Takeuchi (coach of Kaijō)! When he was younger, he used to be in love with Masako. Well, he decided to confess his love to her, with an intention of marriage, but he just ended up being chased away by her biker gang and even got a sweet hit by her sword. A hilarious and rather interesting and unexpected interaction between two coaches! Well, she is still single to this day. She is a girlboss, so, perhaps, she doesn't need, or want, a husband.

I also love Masako for something rather stupid. It is her motto: "Those who put off what they can do today till tomorrow are stupid". Sometimes when I want to procrastinate and leave something for later when I have time to do it, I think to myself how Masako, the coolest woman ever, would call me stupid if I really did that. And if Masako called me stupid, I would think I have failed in life. So, she is a part of the reason I never turn in my homework late!

Araki Masako is just really cool and I think she is a girlboss. I wish we had more of her, and Yōsen, it would be so interesting and I know I would enjoy every moment with them all! 💜
