Prompt 39
Geralt is standing above the unconscious bloodied body of his beloved, Jaskier. The mage Geralt was tracking down to kill had meant to blast Geralt, but Jaskier had tackled the mage and things got ugly.
The mage chuckles, eerily, and prowls closer.
"So the mighty witcher has a weakness after all. Perhaps it'd be best if I do let you both live. Eternal sorrow is far more delicious than a passing trifle."
And Geralt falls unconscious.
He relives his entire life through flashes of memories, though they're all cruel and wrong. Things happen differently, skewed and twisted.
The first time he meets Jaskier, he punches him in the stomach.
Jaskier is standing beside him, near a body of water, as Geralt insults his voice. His passion, his livelihood, his reason for living.
Jaskier standing outside awkwardly as Geralt fucks Yennefer. Geralt can see him in his peripheral, and yet he doesn't stop, nor even have the decency to pull the curtains, he just continues. Soon enough, the blur of colors at the edge of his vision disappears as Jaskier runs into the distance.
Geralt however thinks that the worst memories are the quick three-second flashes of him just endlessly needlessly insulting Jaskier throughout their decades of companionship.
It's not banter, it's not teasing, it's just abuse.
Then Geralt is suddenly on a mountain, and he's yelling at Jaskier.
"If life could give me one blessing, it would be to take you off my hands!"
... Nevermind. This is the worst one.
Geralt is sick to his stomach. Jaskier's eyes widen, and begin to tear up. His face pales of blood, he looks like he's about to faint. His lip even quivers, the way it does when he's well and truly devastated. And Geralt did that to him.
"Right.. Uh.. I'll get the rest of the story from the others.
I'll see you around Geralt."
But then he wakes up in Yennefer's hut.
"Where's Jaskier?" he asks immediately.
"That bard you hated? The one that followed you around for a few years? I don't know. It's been years since you've even thought about that wretch."
He explains that this is wrong. That he loves Jaskier. He adores him. And she tuts sympathetically before explaining that it was a spell the mage put him under. Fake memories of a life where he paired up with the bard. She mimes gagging at the sentiment and he feels hot with anger. As if Jaskier is such a bad choice of romantic partner.
He storms out of her place and races off to find his bard. He needs to know for sure what their standing is, and even if he has been cruel, he can at least apologize to the poor bard.
"I don't know what to do, Yenna!" A bandaged Jaskier shrieked as the afformentioned witch examined Geralt for the fourth time that hour. Geralt lay comatose in her guest bed, under some sort of spell. Every once in a while, Geralt frowns or winces in his sleep, but that's all they can get from him. "He hasn't woken up since we were fighting the mage."
She has a feeling she knows what sort of spell it is. A very cruel trick to play. The mage was smart enough to trust Geralt's self-flagellation. That upon waking from a fake world he perceived as real where all he did was harm Jaskier, he'd most certainly distance himself from the real Jaskier in fear of becoming the version of him in the curse. The mage was dumb enough however, to not think of how far Jaskier would go to save his beloved.

a pet headcanon of mine is that after they're done with the sigil removal, emira expands her horizons and starts studying the psychological side of healing, pulling in some resources from the human realm and combining it with boiling isles methods (i imagine the field of psychology in the boiling isles, while existent, was often pushed aside as just a lesser branch of the healing coven back when belos was in charge. i do imagine there's often magic like the memory tweezers involved)
and i imagine she ends up focusing in on like, art therapy and self-expression, because she knows how important that can be, after having her individuality stifled so hard when she was young

I apologize if this sounds like nonsense to you but I love astrology and even if the characters are fictional I like to analyze these silly things lol
I was thinking how Kell (a cancer) dislikes Alucard (a gemini) but the latter gets along super well with other water signs (both Lila and Rhy are scorpios lmao and gemini x scorpio is such a rare pairing that matches each others' freak bc they are super unhinged together. And do I need to mention cancer x scorpio? another super unhinged pairing who apparently is a best match).
I think Kell dislikes Alucard because cancers tend to be hardly forgiving if you hurt the people they love, but it got better with time because he saw that Alucard stayed next to Rhy and proved to be trustworthy (Kell roasts Alucard a lot in tftop and claims he isn't guarding Rhy properly but we know that is not true). He still finds him annoying and trusts him reluctantly but it's better compared to the past. Whereas Alucard is 100% teasing him but he doesn't hate Kell. Kell hates this behavior because he values sincerity a lot and I admit that geminis like to be super unserious to the point of seeming like we are not reliable. But it's not true because if we like someone, we stick around and we are loyal bitches. If you think about it, Alucard also teased Lila to get information out of her in agos, and she hated it but she quickly made up with him because he earned her trust, and he is still her bestie to this day. I think that Alucard can understand Lila and be there as her friend and the same is true for Rhy and Kell because he understands him so well.
Like I said, gemini x scorpio is really powerful and so is scorpio x cancer so yeah the adsom ships and the friendships are well paired?

im so mad for riz right now from a story perspective. he is putting his health, his mind, his heart into everything right now, helping his friends, reassuring his mom, trying to find out more about the people SABOTAGING everything he has RISKED HIS LIFE FOR, DIED FOR, and he is the only one taking it seriously
he is a poor goblin kid who has had every card stacked against him and even when he is pulled down by his friends, he wants to help them back up, he needs to, because he loves them, but also because without them, its over for him. he wont get into college.
he is making connections with clubs he doesnt even know about, and yeah the beekeeping club has only one member, but fabian has literally made an enemy of that club in less than five minutes. riz NEEDS extracurriculars. he NEEDS every step up he can get, and his friends own self destructive tendencies or lack of social manners are catching riz in the shrapnel.
and that's good storytelling! thats tension, thats interesting!
but my heart breaks for riz. near the end of episode 6 he tells his friends multiple times that the ratgrinders are trying to get them kicked out of school!! he is investigating and keeping his head on a swivel and trying everything in his power to stay above water. and the fact that his best friends are making it hardest for him breaks my heart.
and i loved that at the end riz said to the bad kids, lets make all our effort worth more. the time, and blood, and spells, and growth we have thrown into saving the world have to be worth it. lets make kristens platform angle it so kids that risk their lives can have an easier go of it at school. and i do love that all the bad kids felt the same way. because they are all going through rough times, they are all confused, and stressed, and breaking up and breaking down. the bad kids are all really really sweet kids, with their hearts in the right place
but still my heart breaks for riz because he is the only bad kid taking the steps and searching for a way out. and im glad riz has the heart and the love for his friends to make the tunnel out big enough for all of them
