Zelda OC #5 - Koci and Rina

(Same warning as last time - due to the amount of development that went into this one, it's gonna be a real doozy! Be prepared for a very long read!)

Tesni's development from beginning to end took place over the course of several years, but I never considered her a self insert until very recently. I actually didn't start getting into making self inserts (the most thinly-veiled ones, anyway) as a whole until I had begun to flesh out Tesni's current origin story, but that was about to change!

On a whim one day, I thought about what race in the Zelda universe I might be if I were to just plop myself in there. I considered traits about the different races that I liked, what fit me most in terms of personality... Like my own completely-daydreamed uquiz, before I even knew uquiz existed. And in that imagined uquiz, I ended up with Kokiri - I'm short, look way younger than I actually am, love music and wooded areas, and am a child at heart. I thought it fit pretty well! Plus, I always did like the Kokiri for their whimsical forest-dwelling aesthetic - heck, Saria was literally the reason I made my very first Zelda OC!

So for shits and giggles, I scribbled on a paper, word for word, "If Cici were in Zelda, she'd be a Kokiri" and underneath that I drew the very first iterations of Koci and Rina, who would remain as my main Zelda OCs/self insert to this day.

Koci and Rina were actually first named Lyot and Zumi, respectively. "Lyot's" design would remain relatively consistent for a very long time throughout her development - a WW-style sleeveless tunic, detached sleeves with loose ends, and knee-high (sometimes thigh-high) boots. Her fairy only stays purple for this particular drawing, however. In fact, there was barely any time between this drawing and the next when I decided to change their names entirely.

"Lyot" simply became my name - Cici - which really just solidified the fact that this was a self insert through and through. Meanwhile "Zumi" became Rina - and Rina has a real life story!

To condense it as much as I can, I once had a very vivid dream about an angel with jade green rings around her wrists. In the dream, she'd transfer them onto my wrists as a form of protection and carry me around outside to show me how my neighborhood looked at night. I woke up with absolutely convinced I had met my guardian angel, but I lamented having never seen her face (specifically, her eyes were shadowed over) nor learned her name. I called her the "Ring Angel" for the longest time, but wanted to condense it whenever I wrote about her, so I shortened it to "Rina." So in this instance, Rina became Cici's guardian fairy.

Like I said, the designs remained largely the same. The differences here were Cici's longer hair (which from this point on tends to switch back and forth from the short hair again), the snowflake hair clip, and the diamond earring - which was absolutely 100% intended to mimic Ghirahim's earring, because I was still thirsty for him (I was still developing Tesni alongside Cici!) Later on, Cici also got glasses. Not really sure why I didn't draw them up there dkjfg.

Additionally, to reflect her origin, Rina's color changed from purple to a faded green, and I made it a point to always draw her with her eyes shut. After that, her design has barely changed to this day.

Being a self-insert, Cici's personality was more in line with mine - quiet, kind of weird, a bit childish, and naive to a degree. Despite her being a Kokiri, she had the mental maturity of an adult, since I would feel really weird making what was supposed to be a self insert have the mind of a literal child. It was more like "I am very much an adult in nearly every aspect but now I am just smaller."

Unlike my other OCs at the time, Cici didn't really have an origin story or a purpose. I mostly just drew her in random silly situations, comics, and RP'd with friends about various Zelda stuff. I didn't bother sticking to any one canon world - she'd interact with Ghirahim because at the time, I didn't consider Tesni a self insert, but now I was much more shameless about my attraction for him.

Since I had self inserts named Cici for other fandoms at the time, I referred to this one as Kokiri Cici and later shortened that to Kocici to save a little time. For the longest time Kocici remained this silly, fun little vessel for memes, doodles, and overall just having a good time while I played and talked about Zelda games with friends. In some instances, Kocici was just with Rina. In others she was with her Zora brother, Kodi, and in others still she was goofin' it up with my friends' self inserts - well, Lee's, mostly.

However, it was around the time I played BOTW and started shipping with Link that I decided to flesh out Kocici. One of the first things I did was change her name once more, to something that both held onto the origins of Kocici and sounded a little more "Zelda" to boot - Koci! And thanks to Lee's wonderful art skills, I was blessed with a concept for Koci that would become her staple design to this day~ Here's a quick, plain version of it!

Now's where things get juicy! Koci's personality remained about the same - she is a self insert, after all. However, her story changed heavily depending on what world she was in! I have three different versions of her, so three different stories! They're a bit of a read (I know, there's already so much in this post kjdfg) so feel free to skim or skip to the end.

After Tesni was finally christened a self insert, I no longer had a need for Koci and Ghirahim to interact, save for a bit of dialogue I wrote for shits and giggles if Koci were in Hyrule Warriors. So we can skip that. XD

In Breath of the Wild, Koci is born in the Korok Forest shortly before the Calamity, as the only Kokiri amongst her Korok siblings. The Goddess, anticipating this, instructs the Great Deku Tree to raise Koci so that she may learn to protect and bless the Master Sword for the hero to claim when the time comes. The Goddess sends down Rina, an angel in the form of a guardian fairy, to aid Koci in these blessings and teach her that this duty is given to her by the Goddess herself. In addition to Rina providing her with the sacred magic needed to bless the blade, Koci also grows up learning basic combat to fend off anyone who may threaten it.

Since Koci is sworn to the Master Sword's protection, when Link first comes to claim it, Koci and Rina accompany him in order to ensure it remains at its full strength. When Link is forced to undergo his restorative slumber, Koci and Rina return to the Korok forest to continue their duties while they wait for him to awaken. This version of Koci easily has had the most thought and substance put into her. This is the condensed version, and it would take a lot more text and time to explain it all! So I'll cut it here.

In Phantom Hourglass, Koci takes the role of Link and Hadiyah (Lee's self insert) takes the role of Tetra... though it's a bit different skdjf. Hadiyah has, to put it bluntly, gone on a fuck-quest to find Ganondorf... with the intention of bedding/marrying him... and not even saying bye??? So Koci, being a decent portion of Hadiyah's impulse control, sets off to search for her friend and hopefully knock some sense into her. With the minimal sailing knowledge she's inexplicably gained from Wind Waker (where did this happen? did she replace Link there too? who knows, not me kdjfg) she and Rina craft themselves a dingy little boat that promptly gets obliterated in a storm not 2 hours from their starting point...

Later, an unconscious Koci is discovered floating on a piece of her boat by none other than Linebeck who, despite being kind of a jerk is not actually a complete jerk. So he plucks her and the fairy bottle she's clutching from the water and at the very least ensures they don't succumb to hypothermia, and when Koci wakes, she and Rina explain that they're looking for their friend. From that point on, they basically follow the plot of the game~

And lastly, in A Link Between Worlds, old texts describe the Kokiri as an elusive race that were known and adored for their eternal, youthful beauty - so much so, that ages ago Kokiri were often captured and kept in the homes of corrupt Hylians as trophies. The Kokiri that avoided this fate sunk deeper into hiding until many thought they disappeared entirely. Koci grows up in her home village hearing these stories, and decides she doesn't want to hide like the rest of her people. She learns to defend herself and sets out with Rina to explore the rest of the world, but is still sometimes plagued with inexplicable nightmares of a particularly powerful captor who is rumored to still be alive today...

Yuga, still on his quest for beauty, decides based on these texts that he must have one of these lovely beings to himself to preserve in painting form. The "elusive" part holds true, as the sorcerer scours every corner of the land for one of these forest-dwelling treasures. When he happens upon Koci, he is upfront about his intentions. Koci, fearful that this is the captor from her nightmare but in disguise, fights back and manages to nearly kill him, but Yuga offers a deal - spare him, and he'll help her find the real captor. At first it's a thinly-veiled ploy to gain her trust and later backstab/capture her, and Koci knows this, but she agrees only because his power would be useful in the search for this person. Over time, their dynamic goes from "enemies" to "I'll tolerate you because you're useful to me" to "you're not the worst person on the earth" to "why do I like you" to "ah damn it we accidentally became romantically involved" kjdfhg

Though the stories are different, some things about Koci and Rina remain relatively consistent between them - Rina is always an angel in the form of a fairy, and Koci's weapons are always twin morningstar flails (though depending on what the story calls for, she can wield other basic items like bombs and such). I have other small headcanons about them, but I think this post is long enough!

And so ends the long road to crafting my main Zelda self insert that I use to this day! (And when BOTW2 finally comes out, expect to see a lot more of Koci and Rina~)

Really fun dash this morning where there’s one post complaining about the christianization of fandom in how people treat "media” as a moral center akin to the christian god

and three posts later someone doing fandomization of christianity by complaining about biblically accurate angels not being canon-compliant to the bible or catholic mythology or whatever, complete with a fucking uquiz to test your knowledge of whether you know what a ophanim is

I wanna throttle the second person so bad, first line of the post is like “you’re a culturally christian atheist who hasn’t been to church since 7th grade.” Like. As a “““““culturally christian”“““““ atheist who, in fact, stopped believing in the christian god in 7th grade, I feel like I just got called a biological male. Like, “oh you say you’re an atheist but you didn’t really give up on your christianity” or whatever.

Shut the fuck up shut the fuck up shut the fuck up

I don’t care if my interest in the eldritch aesthetic of “““biblically accurate angels”““ actually fits within the hierarchy set out in catholic mythology because it’s not fucking real. Ffs, the bible isn’t a piece of media with a consistent canon, despite the origin of the word. I don’t care if I’m living in completely in fanon interpretations of dante’s inferno, I don’t care about christianity!! Maybe gabriel wasn’t a wheel inside a wheel inside a wheel with a thousand eyes and completely superfluous wings and maybe he was just a guy with wings except no he wasn’t because he wasn’t real, and I don’t care about complying to the canon of this one, because christianity isn’t a fandom it’s a fucking religion that has done inexorable damage to society and continues to do so!!

- my thoughts on your result: i could... feel the sense of an dystopian setting like nier's. there's so much that you've gone through, so much that you have lost which made you almost lost yourself in the process. then there's this last last one thing you will lose in the story. something you might be probably holding on for too long, or holding on you for too long. the road was rough, and you're tired. the suffocation vanished the moment "this" certain thing left you in peace. you never felt joy from losing something after so many years. you're alone, but you've find your peace and breathable freedom.

- about my results this time: man. it was funny at first because i cant swim but around the latter half silence surrounded me and i teared up a bit. because i always feel like im already spoiling my self with validation from others to "heal" my wounds but those words feel so nice to read. it feels like an ointment. 👌

aight @xdeusxmachinax you asked for it.

let me introduce y’all to my cronus x rhea AU <3 i could go into a LOT more detail,, but i think i should probably just leave it at whatever’s under the cut, because otherwise it’ll literally go on for several pages.

for the record, let me just say that i did this uquiz to determine what kind of fanbase your characters would have and for my characterisation of both Rhea and Cronus, i got “people will not shut up about how they deserve better”, so that might give you a little insight into how i’ve imagined them...

so we all know the usual Gaia-got-fed-up-with-Ouranos’-bs-and-decided-to-kill-him story... well, i haven’t changed that part, it still fits in the story

here’s where we get into my AU- Cronus, in this version, while cunning, is also pretty noble and brave.. that’s why when all his siblings are a little hesitant to fight Ouranos, Cronus steps up and gives everyone a pep talk about how they can’t continue to live in oppression like this and how they need to stand up for themselves and fight to save the world from Ouranos’ tyranny

Gaia’s pretty proud of her son’s courage, and awards him the scythe, and with the Titans now invigorated with new-found pluck, they agree to follow Cronus’ leadership and help him defeat Ouranos.

at first Cronus doesn’t really have bigger plans for the future- he knows that he needs to defeat Ouranos, but after that? who knows.

that is- until he has a little aside with Rhea. now, in my AU, Rhea’s a bit of a girlboss, and while nothing’s really official between her and Cronus, it’s pretty obvious that they’re an item, even though they haven’t said anything.. anyways, Cronus thinks that it makes sense for Oceanus, their eldest brother, to become king after Ouranos, but Rhea tells him that he should be king, because he was the only one who didn’t hesitate when it came down to deposing Ouranos.

and the other Titans agree with Rhea, including Oceanus. it’s clear to all of them that, despite Cronus being the youngest, he’s the leader of the Titans, and they’re all happy to follow him because he’s a good guy.

anyways-- fast forward to the actual battle, and there’s a little incident that occurs where Ouranos tells Cronus that he’s a fool, etc. and, seeing the way Cronus looks at Rhea, Ouranos tells him that Rhea will eventually betray him the way that Gaia betrayed Ouranos- and that, as his father, it’s his duty to look out for his son’s best interests, and then Ouranos kills Rhea in front of Cronus (oh yes, we love us some tragic love)

but Cronus loves Rhea so much, he can’t deal with the idea of her dying, so he prays really hard, wishing that he just had a little bit more.. time

and time actually reverses to just a few seconds from before Rhea was killed!!! Cronus is still a little hazy about what happens, so he’s unable to save Rhea (again) but he tries to reverse time again, and he ends up going all the way back when the Titans had first gathered together to come up with a plan to kill Ouranos, and now Cronus is fully aware that he’s a god of time (he didn’t know before)

so now with his cool time powers, stuff happens, and Cronus defeats Ouranos, and he takes over from him, becomes king with his pretty girlboss queen, Rhea, and everyone’s happy.

UNTIL! Hestia is born not too long after, and at first, Cronus is really fucking happy to have a daughter.

but then the more he looks into his daughter’s big baby eyes, the more he begins to think about Ouranos’ final prophecy to him- that a child of Cronus’ will rise up against him and depose of all the Titans.

and eventually, Cronus can’t take it anymore- he and the Titans worked so hard to depose of cruel Ouranos- Cronus even lost Rhea a few times in the process. under Cronus, peace and justice has been restored, and the kingdom is happy. and now some spoiled brat is going to come along and destroy everything?? Cronus begins to see little Hestia as a threat,, not because he doesn’t want anyone else to be king, but because he doesn’t want the peace in the kingdom destroyed. so, when Rhea leaves the house one day, Cronus decides to swallow Hestia whole, and that’s that.

Rhea returns and is, understandably pissed off with Cronus, but Cronus explains to her everything, and at this point, Rhea still loves Cronus, and he still loves her. She finds it hard to believe that such an innocent child could do all this harm, but she has faith in Cronus, who had previously liberated them from Ouranos, and while she doesn’t like what happened, she convinces herself that it’s just a one-off thing.

But then Demeter is born, and the same thing happens. Then Hera, then Hades, and by the time Poseidon is born, Cronus has become a completely different person- he’s cold, he’s paranoid. Now he doesn’t even try to comfort Rhea. and Rhea herself has become so distraught over the loss of her children, and she absolutely despises Cronus and what he’s become.

she goes to Gaia and begs her mother to relieve her of the pain of living with a madman, but Gaia tells her that she can’t, because Rhea is with child again. but this isn’t good news for Rhea, and she begs Gaia to just take the child from her,, that she can’t bear it. Gaia takes pity on her daughter and reminds her of the prophecy about one of her children deposing of Cronus and tells her that the child within her will save the land and his siblings.

this is pretty shocking to Rhea because she thought this whole time that her children were dead. but upon learning that they’re actually still alive and can be brought back, she’s renewed with energy, and decides that it’s time to take Cronus down.

then it’s just the usual Cronus swallows a stone instead of Zeus, and thinks nothing of it, and Rhea gives baby Zeus to the nymphs to care for.

fast forward to several hundred years later- Rhea goes down to the nymphs to visit Zeus for the first time in her entire life, and there’s an emotional heart-to-heart between her and Zeus, who has heard so much about his mother but never met her.

and Rhea tells him about her plan to free Zeus’ siblings and depose of Cronus. and Zeus is super pumped and excited and he’s like, “hell yeah i HATE that guy!” and Rhea tells him that she doesn’t hate Cronus at all- she hates what he’s become, and that she needs Zeus to fulfill the prophecy so that Cronus doesn’t have to bear the burden of being king anymore- Rhea doesn’t love Cronus anymore, she hasn’t for sometime, but she does feel pity for him, and she refuses to continue watching as Cronus poisons himself.

anyhow, then Zeus meets Cronus and they fight and all Zeus’ siblings are rescued, and eventually Cronus himself is defeated, and he’s weakened by the fight, although he’s not dead.

Zeus, for his mother’s sake, imprisons Cronus in Tartarus, not with the other Titans who had sided with Cronus, but in one of Nyx’s caves, where he dwells forever, sometimes receiving prophecies and stuff.

Rhea lives with Zeus and the rest of the Olympians in Olympus, occasionally providing her counsel, but for the most part, she’s just retired and living the good life <3

OK so ever since you've started posting about AA I've been considering getting into it myself (mostly because Franziska and Edgeworth both fit alot of tropes for my comfort characters), and I'm always up for hearing people infodump, so here's some questions!

1) What's Maya's personality and role in the game? What are her relationships/dynamic with the other characters like?

2) What's the deal with Manfred framing Miles for murder? Was there a motive behind it? How did it get resolved?

3) On the topic of Keeping Up with the Van Karma's, what was Franziska's relationship with her father like before Miles came into the equation? How long did it take for her to stop viewing him in such a positive light?

4) I know she also adored Miles when they first met, but how long did it take for her to start feeling like she was stuck in his shadow? What's their relationship like in the story now (as in, is there still some friction between them or do they patch things up?)

5) Do you have any FranMaya headcanons for sickfic? If you need specifics, how would one be as a caretaker for the other?

6) The above question, but with WrightWorth?

My mind's kind of fuzzy at the moment, so I'm sorry if these don't make too much sense. If you'd like me to elaborate or be more specific, I don't mind sending another ask to clarify what I mean

OMG THESE QUESTIONS ARE ALL SO GOOD THANK YOU!!! im gonna ramble under a cut cause there be spoilers here

1) What's Maya's personality and role in the game? What are her relationships/dynamic with the other characters like?

maya fey is the best character in the game! i believe the youths often say "best girl" and that is maya fey to a t! the other day my aa kinnie friends and i were all taking a uquiz and it asked which is best ace attorney girl. phoenix got distressed and said 'HOW DO I PICK, I LOVE THEM ALL' and i said 'phoenix wright shut the fuck up and hit the maya fey button, it's what we all did' and then unanimous agreement echoed throughout the voice call.

maya's bubbly and energetic and silly and fun personified. kind of pinkie pie but with a lot more gremlin energy. when you meet her she's in a really dark place and even in her grief she snaps back to form quick and becomes an instant ray of sunshine. she's a spirit medium which means she can channel ghosts! they just play this straight. they just present it to you as fact in the world and you just accept it. she's an incredibly powerful medium in training who vastly undersells her abilities.

she acts as phoenix's co-counsel and bratty little sister for most of the trilogy! her and phoenix have an adorable relationship because they're both trainwrecks in their own right and they enable each other's chaos in all the best ways. they have massive sibling/bestie energy, one thing AA does really amazingly is write platonic relationships :') every time other characters try to ship them theyre both just like pfft what? anyways and it's just done so well. i kept being scared it was gonna turn suggestive at some point but it literally never does.

maya goes through a LOT of shit and she is so strong, i hate that she has to be but she's always optimistic and forward facing even at her lowest, and by god you SEE her at her lowest. pretty much everyone who meets her loves her because why wouldn't you. her relationship with phoenix is the most present but her relationships with her sister and cousin are also very very important, her sister is phoenix's mentor "in life and in law" by his own words and her cousin is someone she more or less adopts and raises on her own after tragedy takes her remaining family away. maya is just an incredibly sunny, goofy, wonderful, comforting presence and i love her so much i am so gay for her. she is everything to me. i need to stop now because if i don't i will talk about her FOREVER.

2) What's the deal with Manfred framing Miles for murder? Was there a motive behind it? How did it get resolved?

ok this is all major spoilers for the whole final case of the first game, so read at your own risk. i literally do not know how to summarize the web that it is because there is so much bullshit lol.

miles's father was gregory edgeworth, a defense attorney who miles looked up to more than anything in the world. miles wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and become a defense attorney himself.

manfred von karma was a world-renowned prosecutor with a perfect record of never losing a case. every defendant he oversaw was declared guilty, earning him accolades as an indisputable king of prosecutors. for one trial, they went up against one another, and von karma didn't even lose that case, but he was penalized by the judge, which was a scar on his perfect record all the same.

one day while miles was accompanying his father at the courthouse they were riding the elevator and a massive blackout struck the city, suspending them in the elevator shaft. they were on the verge of suffocation in there when gregory got into an altercation with the bailiff accompanying them, and miles picked up the bailiff's pistol and threw it in an attempt to protect his father. the gun discharged, and it missed gregory, but

right at that moment, the power came back on, and the elevator door opened. von karma had been wandering the courthouse in the dark, found his way to the elevator right at that moment, picked up the gun on the floor and shot gregory through the heart, killing him. one bullet went into gregory's heart, the other--the one miles discharged--went through the door and into von karma's shoulder. von karma fled the scene, leaving miles and the bailiff with gregory's body. von karma went into hiding for months while he healed from the gunshot wound, refusing to hospitalize himself so as not to make a witness out of any doctors, and when he came back he decided to adopt the orphaned miles. the bailiff was declared guilty but got off on temporary insanity.

killing gregory edgeworth was not enough for how deep von karma's vengeance ran. he took miles and reminded him at every turn that his father was killed, that miles had the power and the passion within him to seek out the evil in the world and destroy it, so that no one had to suffer the way he did. miles gave up on becoming a defense attorney, his morals shaken by the murder of his father. he leaned into von karma's teachings, and as one final fuck you to gregory, manfred turned miles into a mindless prosecuting machine.

on the 15 year anniversary of his father's death, miles was summoned to the middle of a lake where he met with robert hammond, who acted as the defense attorney for yanni yogi, the bailiff, in the murder of gregory edgeworth. little did he know he was actually meeting with yogi--disguised as hammond, who had been shot dead by yogi moments before. the murder weapon was planted on miles and yogi faked being shot and dumped the actual body on the scene. ALL OF THIS WAS ORCHESTRATED BY VON KARMA. he puppetmastered all these men into one place, knowing this incident had tied them all together and left them with a lot of unresolved grief. he preyed into yogi's resentment (gregory's trial ruined his life, even if he was found technically innocent) and miles' guilt.

see, miles obviously has PTSD and huge chunks of this memory are missing for him. he remembers throwing that gun, and hearing a scream, but he at this point can't say for certain if maybe it was him who killed his father. and von karma knew that. so, even after miles was proven innocent in the killing of hammond, von karma tried to get miles convicted for the murder of his father, and miles is so traumatized and doubting of his own memory that it almost worked.

how it resolved is that phoenix is a stubborn motherfucker who loves and believes in his friend and he figured out the truth!! he fought until the bitter end and then some and figured out who von karma truly was and the old bastard was sentenced to death because that's how all murder trials go in the AA universe.

it's pretty much entirely up to interpretation--we don't get much of their relationship in the official canon, there's a little bit of material in the anime but it's considered dubious canon.

franziska overall seems to look up to her papa and respect him a great deal until his conviction. she follows diligently in his footsteps and views him as a prosecuting genius, and borrows his tactics and teachings whenever she can. in the anime she adores him with wide eyes and a big heart and views him as a superhero who never lets the bad guys get away.

manfred by contrast is distant and dismissive. the way i interpret his relationship with miles and franziska is that he is very good at convincing them that he loves the other more. he acts disinterested in franziska's passion toward law studies and instead pours his focus into miles, but then he'll turn around and make sure miles knows he's an outsider and will never be blood like how franziska is. all of this is just the feeling i get based on what i've observed, but again, a lot of it is up to interpretation.

once manfred is convicted franziska seems to change her tune. she comes to america for vengeance and when pressed repeatedly on how revenge won't bring her father back she makes it clear each time that her thoughts stay with miles, not on her dad. franziska stays very tight lipped about her feelings in all regards, but her (likely complex) feelings about her dad are especially locked up.

(obviously i have the kin answers for all of this, but that's not what you asked so send another ask if you want that infodump dfghdg)

most of this is ambiguous too, again, we really don't get much of anything in regards to them growing up together--there's snippets here and there of feelings they remember and one case in the side duology where we get to see them as young adults, but that's about it. as early as 13 years old franziska viewed miles as her rival in competition both as a prosecutor and for manfred's attention, and she has a big ego but it's a total facade for how inadequate she feels in comparison to him. one of the few things franziska's said on the matter is that she feels like miles constantly left her behind and abandoned her--that he always kept walking forward and didn't wait on her to catch up.

in present day it is clear they love each other deeply but have a lot of baggage to deal with in multiple regards. the both of them are struggling to understand their own identities with everything they were taught shaken up. miles does take a LONG holiday to search for these answers and find himself, but franziska doesn't get the full picture and resents him for abandoning her again, seeking those answers while she herself is still struggling and not ready to. they have a very important heart to heart at the end of game 2 where franziska walks away and this time miles chases her, and it seems to be a turning point for franziska because when you next see her she seems to be set on carving her own destiny, away from the legacy of her father. but i fully believe that miles would do absolutely anything for his sister and she would do the same for him. they are the only family the both of them have left, and despite the fact that they are very cold people on the outside, they love very fiercely when those walls are breached.

5) Do you have any FranMaya headcanons for sickfic? If you need specifics, how would one be as a caretaker for the other?

on god i will write this some day. franziska needs to be wrestled into bed. she very famously got shot in canon and tried to go to court while she was bleeding out. she will attempt to work through ANYTHING and i fully believe the only people who can convince her otherwise are 1. maya fey and 2. any of phoenix/miles' other Weird Little Girls. franziska has a soft spot for weird little girls. she's a similarly terrible caretaker. she cannot cook and probably learned how to brew herself a cup of tea last week. she has 0 bedside manner. she DOES have a habit of being surprisingly soothing when she wants to and i think her tongue could go silver with enough practice but with maya she'd probably be too flustered and start going on a heroic monologue about how she will burn to world to cinders to see maya in good health again. franziska von karma is a fucking disaster in heels and a perfectly ironed miniskirt.

maya's not much better i don't think. she'd probably also try to work through it but would give up sooner at the tempting prospect of naps and tv. maya’s definitely a better caretaker than franziska but the bar is kinda in hell (not that bar, the other bar, the one fran didn’t pass) she can probably at least make fran soup from a can. these gals are young theyre trying their best fdhfghgf

6) The above question, but with WrightWorth?

god i should think about them more. phoenix is a dumbass who rarely gets sick (word of god and idiots don’t catch colds) but when he does he’s on a fucking freezing mountain with a 103 degree fever investigating a murder scene. he’s not good at hiding it he’s so fucking loudly ill every time you see it in canon but he’s just like ok i will go to court i guess. every time you see him sick in canon he’s still just in court. even when he’s like 10 he’s somehow in court (this is not a joke. its important you understand this is not a joke.)

i feel like phoenix is a clumsy caretaker but he has kind of a natural intuition for what to do. there’s a very soft moment in the second case of the series where maya faints from shock and phoenix just very gently picks her up and lays her down on the couch, i think about it so much. internally he’s panicking the whole time but he’s just a fucking mother at heart.

miles is... very similar??? but suffers more silently and is a little less stubborn. can probably be talked into taking a sick day. he’ll still try to go to work but he’s got sleepy dad energy and can be coaxed into just taking a damn nap. miles is a much better caretaker than anyone previously mentioned he is a very VERY soothing person who often knows exactly what to say and how to say it, he’s a god in the kitchen, he brews the best tea, he’ll run his fingers thru phoenix’s hair and read to him, no one fucking talk to me miles edgeworth is SO tender he makes me crazy.

So, I’m thinking about what I should work on after EBYT, and I thought it’d be a good idea to pose it as a question to all of you. I’ve listed the ‘options’ below the cut, so click ‘keep reading’ to see them, and maybe please consider sharing your opinion with me! :))

The titles are all working titles and as such very tentative, so be warned! Also, you might recognize the first seven from the uquiz, though the summaries have been edited for clarity and such. Please, please, keep in mind that the ones which have been crossed out are not options! That doesn’t at all mean that I won’t write them later, just that they aren’t for now.

In no particular order, but numbered for clarity:

1) to be or not to be:

After the events of Homecoming, Peter Parker is just about getting the hang of being Spider-Man - he's even almost getting a handle on the whole balancing-'work'-and-school thing. He's only ever known of Annabeth Chase until now - the junior that might just hold the title of MJ's true and absolute role model. That is, until she tells him straight to his mask in the middle of a sticky situation that she knows who he is. She's capable and she has her head on her shoulders; he's all-ears and desperately wants some guidance, even if he doesn't know it. Or: Peter already has a mentor but what's to say he can't have two?

2) a game:

When circumstances not only put Annabeth Chase in the area of an explosion that takes out a good chunk of Grand Central Station, but also make it seem like she was the one behind it, she's not sure if she's even allowed to be surprised anymore. Meanwhile, the Avengers only have one lead on the disaster that has shocked a city still reeling from the Battle of New York and she's a seventeen-year-old girl who is decidedly not the easiest person to talk to.

3) dumpster diving:

When a girl on the street shuts a dumpster door and consequently saves Clint Barton's sometimes-protege from near-certain misfortune of one kind or another, he's thankful. It's not the last time that she helps him out either, but she's decidedly not happy to be thanked or helped out in any way. Mystery girl is living on the streets, winter is fast approaching, and Clint has to try really hard to keep himself from feeling bad for her when that's clearly the last thing she wants. And one thing leads to another. And then another. And Clint realizes that this girl can be much more standoffish than he'd previously thought, while also realizing how quickly a kid can grow on you.

4) come back to bite you:

When a volunteer field trip goes sideways, it leaves Annabeth Chase with a spider bite and a swollen arm. A month later finds her with more superpowers than she ever bargained for, a horrible costume, and arguably the worst vigilante name she's ever heard. Meanwhile, the Avengers wonder, who's the new superhero on the block? And what will it take to convince this Spider-Man to let them give him some pointers?

5) half a month in athens:

Natasha Romanov has taken to tracking the web crafted by HYDRA throughout countries other than America following the events of Civil War. A suspected HYDRA cell leads her to a mob meeting at an archaeological site in Athens, and things go sideways from there. She doesn't believe every other word that comes out of the seventeen-year-old girl's mouth, including the fact that her name is 'Maria.' Clint puts in his two cents to Natasha about the situation, who considers it, and then an additional two cents to 'Maria,' who all but laughs in his face. As the days pass, it becomes clearer and clearer that 'Maria' isn't being completely honest with them about much. And that this mob business is more complicated than they'd previously thought.

6) media coverage:

Following the events of Age of Ultron, the Avengers’ public image is holding steady; but whispers are going around in private circles - if you know where to look - which some members of the Avengers do. The search for a solution leads them to Annabeth Chase’s PR firm, which agrees to spearhead a series of get-to-know-you type interviews. The Avengers understand why they’re doing it, even if some of them think it to be a bit tedious and boring at times. Clint Barton’s solution? Flirt with their PR woman, of course.

7) massachusetts in turmoil:

The Blip happens in October, 2023, and MIT resumes classes second semester of the same academic year, dedicated to a path back to normal. Harley Keener returns for the second half of his freshman year knowing that things have changed. Annabeth Chase comes back to life one wonky afternoon to find that not only have five years and change passed, but that she also has to redo her second semester. Unable to continue at New Rome College, she requests and receives a transfer to MIT, and moves to Boston. They meet on the second day. It takes considerably longer until their first date.

8) an arm and a leg:

Harley Keener isn’t snapped; that’s how it begins. It only takes three weeks for his step-dad to find his way back to the family he’d left years earlier, and it’s only four days into the summer session at CHB when Harley decides that he’s staying in NYC permanently as a year-rounder. Over the course of five years and change, Harley Keener moves forward, trying to see how he fits into a CHB without half of its leaders, and how Tony Stark and the family he brings with him fits into his life. Or: from the last scene of Infinity War, through Endgame, as told by Harley Keener.
