Treat Time!

I was thinking about what to share then I remembered that I made sim versions of my Medallion Heist main characters that I never actually showed anyone! (maybe I'll let them loose on a save and see how much trouble they both get into)

I like making sims of my characters because it helps me get a good idea of what they look like. Sadly I have to also compromise a bit for not having the perfect CC.

First introducing Aelfraed Agmundrson! The protagonist and almost detective (he's getting there) His hair was meant to be lighter and his face longer but I think this turned out pretty well (I'm still getting used to the drag sliders, I miss sims 2 but it takes so long to load).

Below the cut I have a spoilery character. Arnvaldr is the thief behind the title's heist. That bit isn't the spoiler because he won't be using his real name but appearance might be.

Little rant why are all the sims waistcoats combo-ed with rolled up sleeves? He'd be trying to cover up his scars as much as possible. He may be a bit of a thrill seeker but his sister would kill him if he was that stupid to make himself that identifiable!

"There you are!" Theo's less than compassionate coworker yells as she makes her way to the kitchen from the back. "How many smoke breaks has it been now?" His voice is sour and his lips are cracked, similar to his personality and his heart.

"Two since 3am. You take more breaks to clean out the underneath of your nails, Bruce." She steps over the tub of tomatoes he dropped, zero intention of helping him when he's never done the same for her.

"You're not going to-,"

"No, Lukas and Aspen are almost here, and I wouldn't want you to have to enjoy their wonderful company. It might crack that dirtbag facade you've got going on." She puts outs her boge on the metal tables lining the kitchen. "Tell your boyfriend hi for me, and that he can do better."

Bruce grumbles, knowing deep down he deserved that. "He already knows." And she was out of the kitchen and making her way behind the diner counter, her post for the past four years.

*ding* The door chimes go off, her amber eyes drift up expectantly to meet the cerulean blue and honey of her favorite patrons. She smiles at them, and they smile at her.

"Tell me, how many cups of coffee have you had today so far?" She grabs the pot, pours them their coffee, and lives in the fantasy of her mind that their paths crossed outside of this diner. That she'd cross the street with them, Theo's hand intertwined with his while his daughter told her about her latest theory. She saw it so vividly, which made it hurt all the more when they'd soon walk out of this diner without her.

But it's okay. She'll be gone soon. She just needs to solve the killing of his brother first.

No biggie.

some of my moots have sims stories that go so far back i wouldn't even begin to comprehend how to start it but i just vibe with their stories anyways and it makes me feel like i'm in the kitchen cooking while someone else is watching their novella in the living room and i keep catching glimpses of the plot as i pass by the doorway. i'm heavily invested but wildly confused but there's no way in hell i am asking for context

Book birthday! 🎈

This novella about Léon, Claire, and Matthias changed a lot for me. The inspiration came during a time when I had been feeling creatively stunted about two years after grad school, which had been rough. I had already written Providence Girls, but a workshop professor told me that it was so bad it was unfixable. I was overall struggling to get out of a toxic writing environment during and after grad school, and in the case of Providence Girls and Unholy with Eyes like Wolves, I wanted to write books that were queer, bold, and indulgent, but I often blunted them out of fear. It didn’t help that I had writing friends at the time who could be very critical about how I expressed my queerness (both my bisexuality and transness) in my stories.

A Flame in the Night was a book based on an idea I had for a few years based on a three vampire, one witch bi polycule household I played in The Sims 4. I decided that I would allow myself to be as indulgent and erotic as I wanted to be without worrying about whether I anticipated every possible complaint from the critical reader in my head. I wrote Léon as very much a character who runs on Id and likely has a clever reader scratching their head about how he could see his actions as good ideas. (He doesn’t. He has no self-preservation.)

I am much happier with my writing nowadays, and I am so glad to have finally found supportive friends and readers. Thank you for all the support on this journey! 🖤

About this new project: I won’t recreate all sims from “ts2 console” as some of them are pretty bland and I already have 320 sims in my save. On the other hand, some of them are way too cool and diverse to be ignored and I want fun sims to play with! As it’s a 2023 take on a 2000′s game, I will not go as crazy on accessories as the original characters: Betty Buttercup is supposed to wear a dead fox on her shoulders and everybody wears ridiculous hats/sunglasses combos., let’s not do that!

Something I've been wondering about. This novel which bridges the events of Prequel and Episode 1. I heard it's written from Aerial PoV and it apparently disproves some theories like her being a clone or her being straight-up brainwashed. But I've been wondering, from what point does this narrative start? Was Aerial conscious from the day Eri was little or did she wake later? Are there holes or maybe manipulation by Prospera, maybe messing with Aerial's data? What if Prospera lied to Aerial too

The first lines have Aerial talking about a currently 6yo Suletta and playing with her for the first time when Suletta was 4yo and she picked a piloting sim game to play, there's no mention of a time before that. Suletta beat Elnora's high score at age 6, so that tells you something right there.

After that it skips forward 3 years and Suletta asks Aerial about Earth, since Suletta can only ever remember living on Mercury. That's when we learn that as young as 5yo Elnora has been injecting Suletta with SOMETHING and experimenting on her. That's also when she first started using the phrase "Run and you gain one, move forward and you gain two".

The next skip is age 11, Suletta is now regularly going out with Aerial on Mercury to rescue people who treat her like shit, it's also the last time that Elnora celebrates her birthday at home with her.

The next skip is age 15 and 16, Suletta wants to go to school and Elnora confesses to Aerial that she has a way to get revenge, Aerial talks about how she'll gladly take revenge for her mom but to leave Suletta out of it.

Elnora can't hear her though.

The next skip is only a day later, Suletta is told she's going to school but not why, she goes to Aerial and tells her, but her and Aerial can't talk in full sentences yet, but JUST FOR A MOMENT Suletta heard Aerial's voice, and the novella ends with this:

Hi. Sorry to bother you. I was wondering what your opinion is of people binding your ao3 works to put on their shelves?

I mean, my favorite is when they send me a copy to put on my shelf, but apart from that---my opinion is wildly positive! Bind it, throw it in a collection, link to it in your favorites list; say nice things about it, and me, and I'll drink it down like elixir.

I'm not sold on turning a profit from such things, but I love the internet's gift economy. If you explore my "devil went down to georgia as a gay novella" tag, there are lots of people binding it, making fan art...a couple weeks ago someone asked if they could make a Sims skin for the Devil and/or Johnny and while that's not something I ever thought about while writing, I'm all for it!

What is the internet for if we're not all sharing our intensely niche, slightly offbeat art with each other??
