Here, have this short horror-ish short story I wrote in around 10 minutes while on the bus.

The certainty of Death.

You know what's funny? How everything, no matter how much it tries, will die. They run from what hunts them. They hide from what preys on them. They eat untill stuffed. They don't eat enough. They fight, become the hunter, and pray on others until just them are at the top the top of the food chain. And it isn't enough. They still die.

And you know what's really funny. How they still try after everything. As if immortality is the best thing that could happen to them. Doesn't matter if they step on others, as if mere bugs, to get their way. For they will not stop trying until death has them locked in place with it's fingers around their throats.

And they beg. They beg as if they have done nothing wrong. Pleading innocence. Praying to get their life back. Screaming until their throats collapse with no air coming from their lungs. And they die. Doing the one thing they never wanted to happen. Knowing, in their final moments, that, no matter what, they tried. No matter what they did. They would always die. One way or another. Life wasted on trying to avoid the one certainty of this world we live in.
