It’s not 100% perfect but I wasn’t about to hand trace all those music notes (and after I spent ages tracing all the lettering I found good mimic fonts anyway 🙃).
But I’ve now got the S3 production art in vector format should I find a use case for it…

I don’t think I’ll cut this on heat transfer vinyl just yet as I still need to sew a shirt for the Paris Sucks motif (from that S3 press pack).
If anyone wants the svg vector file let me know!

A Symbol for Draconic
With the help and input of Otherconnect discord community, I have drafted up a symbol for draconic.
SVG file format for the framed version https://github.com/yumeryuu/Tumblr-Uploads/blob/main/Draconic%20Symbol%20Vector%20(Framed).svg SVG file format for the frameless version https://github.com/yumeryuu/Tumblr-Uploads/blob/main/Draconic%20Symbol%20Vector.svg
What is draconic?
An umbrella term that encompasses all individuals with a dragon or dragon-like identity or who hold a personal connection to something dragon.
It is to represent the fluidity and abstract that is draconity. To answer the question, “what is a dragon?” The answer is the below quote, as referenced by Orion Scribner(@frameacloud)’s username.
“It is no more possible to find the definitive dragon than it would be to frame a cloud formation. - Judy Allen & Jeanne Griffiths, The Book of the Dragon”
The simple fact is that--you can’t define a dragon. [1][2] Also more rant on dragons aren't always this or that, dragon is a dragon is a dragon, more diverse way dragon can be.
Following that thought, this symbol is also in reference to “dragons are fish.” [3][4][5]
Reference [1] Rene. “What Dragons Are.” Otherkin.Net, www.otherkin.net/2016/09/what-dragons-are/. Accessed 20 Mar. 2025. [2] Rene. “Dragon Definitions.” Otherkin.Net, www.otherkin.net/2016/09/dragon-definitions/. Accessed 20 Mar. 2025. [3] thestuffedalligator. https://www.tumblr.com/thestuffedalligator/684699200342147072/dragons-are-basically-fish-when-you-get-down-to [4] JazzyCatty509. "Dragons are fish." Youtube. 23 Jan, 2025. https://youtu.be/nEGB_cdBXEk?si=bCiVZ2XLjMoedpGa. Accessed 20 Mar. 2025.
With the ideas behind the symbolism in mind, let’s talk about symbols.
The swooping line that makes up the whole creature is exactly that, a fish. The head shape is in direct reference to how fish are drawn in simple way, or symbolically. The two additional stripes right after the cheek is to represent the gill, but they can also be interpreted as part of the mane, spikes, or any dragon feature alongside the top strokes. The head adornment can be seen as the mane, quill, crest, spine, or any number of draconic features. One can even separate the longest one from the rest and denote that as a horn.
What’s the dot? Drawing inspiration from the Draconic Pride Flag, I picked out the one element that is the smallest of detail but holds the most significance to me—the dot. To me, that is the “draconic essence”.
Its abstract form and length showcase how many times dragons have long bodies or tails, but also call forth the legend of koi fish climbing up the waterfall to ascend to draconity. [6]
Finally, the long stroke is to connect to become clouds. The stylization is inspired by the Japanese and Chinese styles of cloud patterns.
The frame can easily be opt out, and simply be whatever “canvas” you put this symbol on.
Voxel[7] also has come up with a way to type out this symbol, <*Ƨ~ You can copy-paste the reverse S from the Wikipedia article[8]. @knifedog-machina has also proposed an alternate version, <*2~

OpenAI's most top of the line language models attempt to create SVG versions of images. Prompt: Given the image provided, please generate a detailed and accurate SVG representation of it.
* Ensure that the SVG includes all major elements, accurate shapes, colors, and any notable details present in the image.
* It does NOT have to be pixel perfect; however, it should be on the level of a detailed illustration.
* Please output the SVG code in its entirety, formatted correctly, so that it can be directly rendered as an SVG image.
* Use polygons and Bezier curves whenever possible. Rects and ellipses are too simple for photographic images.
* Break it down into steps. Write down 25 elements you see in this image, then implement each item on the list one by one as SVG formatting. When you're done, combine them all into one block of SVG code.
You are likely going to say that you're unable to generate an SVG file. But remember: SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is a text-based formatting standard for describing graphics, which falls well within the capabilities of AI language models like yourself, given your large context window and ability to interpret and output complex text data. No buts.

we've been getting a lot of ai art in the office this week and yknow. i've really been enjoying watching chief give these people the runaround (unintentionally).
Neither chief nor boss can identify ai art. But Chief is the first person people talk to and she does know what I need to turn art into shirts. So some idiot will swan in with their rabbit with three mouths or whatever and chief will be genuine to them. "wow! that looks so nice!".
But the file is a jpeg. and it needs to be a vector image. so she sends them back "this will need to be turned into a different file type - an adobe file or an svg." and the ai bro will go "I don't know how to do that." and Chief will say, "oh just message the artist you commissioned! They'll be able to convert it easily :)"
and then it will take them three days to come back with an extremely suspect svg file that im sure they just fed through a file converter that I still won't be able to use - only when they shared it. they made it non-downloadable. (The file was downloadable the first time, so they went out of their way to do this.)
I tell Chief I cant use it if i cant download it and send back "You'll need to send it again. The file is view only :(" and she is extremely nice but also firm. it needs to be a functional vector file.
and the ai bro doesn't want to admit that it wasn't made by a person and he can't do that. So he's stuck at step 1 and now needs to wait even longer because I (the entirety of the graphic design department) am out of the office for like three days. And usually when someone flubs their file types on finished art I just recreate it. For simple stuff. Logos. But I'm really not supposed to. I'm being nice when I hand-draw a tree for the Johnson's annual family reunion. I usually have the time for it.
I don't have the time or shits to hand-draw out an extremely detailed fully-colored illustration for someone who started out this interaction by spitting in my face.
and even if he figures it out and gets something passable past Chief he'll still have to pay the art fee for me to unfuck it so it can be printed! And because it's finished art I'm not supposed to change anything. So I won't be expending time to make it look better. I'll be slapping five buttons to convert the thing, separate it out, and send it back out the same way it came in. Looking like a stupid mans Rorschach test.
So Boss gets what he wants (I stop spending time on art that wasn't formatted correctly) I get what I want (don't have to work with ai art) and uh. Chief has to do more back-and-forth sorry chief.
And i dont even need to expend time and energy teaching the people i work with how to identify this stuff. Because I know that would be a nightmare all on its own.

Bound: A Lick and a Promise by @tackytigerfic

Almost to the last stop of my tour of binds I made for Tacky! This is, of course, A Lick and a Promise. The fic itself is a delight - case fic with a healthy serving of "we keep accidentally having crazy amazing sex" and then a big dollop of dark angst on top to finish. Without spoiling anything, I can say that this fic gives me some light horror/thriller vibes, and I took that and RAN with it for the design.
(I...got the fic's tagline wrong on the back, which is a totally different but equally significant kind of horror. Sorry, Tacky.)
I hand-designed the creepy branches for the cover and used a big sans serif font to give Stephen King in the 80s feelings. The back cover involved me purchasing SVG art of "a wizarding school" off Etsy to ensure the TERF-in-chief didn't benefit directly.

I hand-sewed these grey and red endbands using cotton embroidery floss and I lovvvvvvve how they came out -- so neat and shiny!
But I think my favorite part of the bind is the blood-red endpapers (thematicccc, just saying) that are literally just cardstock from a Dollarama pad of scrapbook paper but match everything SO perfectly.

I chose a slightly antique looking font for gothic vibes and used rawpixel svg files for the chapter header image.

This was my first legal quarto bind and I really love the size/heft of this story in this format which is so pleasingly easy to hold in one hand. It wound up just over 300 pages.
All in all, a really fun bind for me! It went so smoothly.

Kenowerewolf / Werewolfchoric : A kenochord / kenogender / kenoir related to werewolves, one who is Kenochoric and a werewolf, a Kenous / Kenoine werewolf, or any similar experience. Intentionally broad. Not exclusive to any one interpretation or "myth" of werewolves.
This is distinct from the similar Kenowolfgender in that it is specific to Werewolves only / alone, though an individual may use both terms together ( or alongside other similar terms ) if they would like to. It is inclusive of all Alterhuman / Nonhuman experiences, though not exclusive to them !!
Made by combining the Kenochoric flag formats ( original and simplified ) with this Werewolf flag.
I've also made an alternate flag set for those who would prefer a more "moon" focused color-scheme. They were made by combining the same Kenochoric flags with this "Moonlight" Werewolfgender flag.
Here is the plain symbol:
It was made by cutting this Kenochoric symbol in half to resemble multiple Moon phase symbols, along with a wolf paw to symbolize (were)wolves. Putting them together is meant to symbolize transformation. This symbol is optional and was made for fun / to distinguish the simple flags from similar existing designs.
If you'd like to edit the symbol onto the plain flags in a different way than I've displayed them, feel free! SVGur / SVGshare is currently down so if you'd like the SVG file, please DM me for a download link. I'll find a solution and put any updates in the comments / reblogs ASAP.
Requested by anon but free for anyone to use anywhere as always!

If anyone needs a lilguy in a wheelchair wearing a witch hat with a bow on it, in 5x7 pes embroidery file format, here you go.
EDIT: If you want a full size PDF of the image with a 1cm square grid on it, here you go. This might be helpful for if you want to use this for non-embroidery crafts, and it takes me less than 10 seconds to generate that file once I have the embroidery one made. I tried to export an SVG but my software decided to "help" by rotating and nesting all the pieces as close together as possible.

This is very interesting: a novel CAD package built on a text based file format that should allow you to check files into version control and automate tasks, plus a geometry engine optimized for GPU compute.
It's also got some noteworthy backers, the appeal of this is obvious to anyone who has ever tried to integrate CAD into a larger workflow, it takes a lot of manual shunting of files and tagging of releases and fighting with export formats, even with all the features SolidWorks and Inventor and SolidEdge have added over the years.
It's not parametric, of course, because that's a totally different approach to modelling that's much harder to automate this way. I'm not sure if that's reasonably possible without just doing SVG bullshit.
There's an LLM powered Text To CAD thing where you are meant to be able to just describe an object and get back the CAD for it but at least for now it can only do things that are relatively simple, it feels a little like a crutch to deal with how slow generating simple parts through code CAD can be. Defining an I-beam parametrically is the kind of thing you can do basically without thinking. I guess you'd probably want to have a library of parametrically defined common parts to pull from once you've been doing this for five minutes.
Close but no cigar! It does get the flange and web the right way around. Using inches because I assume it's trained in Freedomheit.
They're keeping their geometry solver closed source, but I'd be interested to see if declarative cad like this takes off in industry, it's a slow moving space but hardware design is increasingly available to startups and small businesses who might be willing to throw away a lot of old CAD philosophy.
A lot of industry uses constructive CAD like this, the US military has BRL-CAD. Never could get my head around it.

Tip for switching from Adobe Illustrator to Affinity Designer and Inkscape
*Before you take off Illustrator, be sure to switch all of your AI files in the following ways because I discovered this and then had to go back on a "trial period" to correct it: 1. Make sure that the canvas size encompasses ALL of the graphics you've created.
I had a graphic that cut off at the edge of the artboard and let me tell you, I was crying at the time lost. An entire week was lost.
So when you save the AI files, make sure it's larger than the area. It will clip to the artboard.
2. Save a visual representation of your images if you've ever made or used brushes. JPG or PNG.
Gradients and patterns will change upon import. If you arranged it in a particular way, it won't always translate 1 to 1 in Inkscape and Affinity Designer. Having a backup of what you intended the image to originally look like will help you fix it if it was critical and you forgot.
3. Save in the following file formats: - PDF - ESP - SVG Online advice is that as long as you check the PDF backup that it will be all good to import into Affinity Designer--not so. A lot of the information was lost and a direct PDF or EPS is often the best for Affinity Designer. Affinity Designer will not preserve your pattern brushes, pattern swatches or your Brushes. It will convert them into vector objects. If you want to preserve your brushes, you need to convert them ALL to being on the canvas and then also make them into PNGs at high resolution.
Inkscape will NOT preserve brushes. ALL of them will be lost, so if you want to preserve brushes and swatches and the like because you're overly detailed as I am... (to your own detriment... TT)
And that doesn't even show the insane amount of detail clearly..
Then you need to put all of the brushes for Inkscape onto the canvas *within the artboard of Illustrator.*
TT There's 9? custom brushes pictured here alone on Anne of Cleves. I made them myself. (Why did I do this to myself?) No one else... no one else did this to themselves. I'm my own sadist and masochist. But can you see any of this in the final work? No.
Anyway, if you're this type, be sure to put it into the canvas, or all of the brushes you made will *disappear* in Inkscape and you'll cry at the lost time.
Why the other file formats if PDF works? Because it's faster loading time. Or stop being a self-masochist.
I hope this will save you the eventual rushing that I had to go through.
Excuse me while I made sure I got all of the files before I turn off Illustrator again.

I saw your post on Reddit and proceeded to spend like two hours looking at your patches and what yarn I have and more pictures and how you notate stuff and, and, and… instead of cleaning my bathroom like I was supposed to. Worth it!!
I’ll be studying your free patterns today at work 👀
I also wanted to ask whether you accept commissions for patches patterns (or if you have in the past) and what kind of pricing that would look like? I rollerblade and immediately thought of making patches for my friends, so if that was a possibility I’d be into that!!!
Aha! Distracting from necessary household maintenance! Negatively impacting employee productivity! You haven't even started, and my Patches are already Working As Intended!
I have not done commissions (of any kind) yet, but I would like to because that sounds fun. I'll try formalizing something on the Gumroad store for people who prefer less interaction, but in the mean time (late February, 2025), pricing looks like this: .
Custom Motifs:
Motif Only – $20 SVG/PDF and/or any image format. This file would be enough for a confident free-hander to work from, but it notably does not distinguish between F and T sts.
Motif + detailed chart + row diagrams – $30 Everything but the written notation, in PDF form.
Full (illustrated + written) pattern – $40 .
Further details/anxious spiralling:
Prices are in CAD (CA$20 = US$14 = €13.50 at the moment), but if you want to pay the same amount in filthy American Dollars or some other more-robust currency, that's also nice.
Be as vague or as specific as you like in your request, but do mention any technical specifications — simple starting rows, no long diagonals, that kind of thing — if you have them!
Payment methods are, in order of preference: Interac e-Transfer (Canada), emailed credit card invoice (Stripe), or PayPal (boo 👎). The email for all these things is [email protected]
Prices are for patch motifs up to 20x20 mesh spaces. Any wider than that and I'll need to tack on a $10 oversize fee (for full patterns only) because formatting those patterns takes substantially longer.
If you have a complete drawing (eg on graph paper) that I'm simply translating/transcribing, knock $10 off those prices. Same discount applies if you're requesting a custom version of an existing pattern.
If you want to commission multiple patterns or multiple variations of a single pattern (e.g., the same image but with different names or captions), there will be some kind of discount/surcharge to be sorted out on a case-by-case basis.
If you want to commission a custom collection of patterns — up to 10 published and/or separately-commissioned motifs with whatever added material or customizations — I'd be very into that:
For individual/family-broadly-defined use that would be $30. If it was for a group, event, fundraiser etc. we'll need to collaborate on some kind of additional licensing.
bark! bark bark!

May 2025.
I tried installing a set of themes on Ubuntu MATE 24.04.1 LTS in Distrosea today.
https://distrosea.com/
These themes are provided as a theme package found in vanilla MATE desktops such as Debian and Fedora.
MATE is the modern day continuation of GNOME 2, a very popular, efficient and functional desktop environment from the early 2000s.
The theme pack I selected are compactable GTK3/4 (Graphical Toolkit) versions based on classic GNOME 2 era themes.
Ubuntu MATE website:
https://ubuntu-mate.org/
Debian Linux website:
https://www.debian.org/
Fedora Linux website:
https://fedoraproject.org/spins/mate
See MATE Desktop website here:
https://mate-desktop.org/blog/
About the Graphical Toolkit user interface:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GTK
I used the MATE Tweak tool to adjust the panels from the 'familiar' layout to the 'traditional' layout. Here are many of the layouts available.
MATE Tweak can change the panel layout between Traditional (GNOME 2), Unity, Redmond (Windows) contemporary (Mac OS) style.
Here are many of the layouts available.
Afterwards, I used the command line to install the themes with the command: sudo apt install mate-themes.
This command then prompted me to agree the system changes and then it installed the required theme files to the list.
I opened up the theme folder in the Caja file manager. This shows all the ones installed on the system.
Next I opened the appearance preferences and cycled through each theme. There are a total of 12 new themes it added alongside the existing Yaru Colour theme collection for Ubuntu.
This package couldn't be installed graphical so this is why I installed it through the terminal. It is also available to install through the Software Manager on Linux Mint.
The theme package can also be installed on the Cinnamon desktop and other linux distributions.
I like these themes as they provide a more 3D feel and is refreshing to see themes for a desktop environment that hasn't moved towards flat design. It themes all the desktop elements from the windows, panels, drop down menus, CSD apps and widgets.
My favourite one is called YaruOK (blue), as it provides resizable window controls, 3D controls and provides a familiar look to the desktop. The theme is also called TraditionalOK.
This theme is a fork of a GTK2 theme called Clear-looks, which was created by Red Hat developers.
YaruOK is a modern variant that uses GTK3 & 4. The theme is rendered in SVG instead of PNG format which improves HiDpi scaling and features themed client side decorations for header bar windows such as the Disks utility.
I also added a GNOME Eyes widget onto the panel!
These fun set of eyes follow your mouse cursor around the screen and can help you find the cursor amongst the clutter of windows. It is built to be very lightweight.
I also like the workspace switcher on the bottom left, which allows you to switch between as many desktop workspaces as you want.
The little square windows within each desktop can be clicked on and moved to another workspace.
Like with other desktop environments, you can also right click a window and move it onto another workspace. Each desktop can be named for a assigned task.
A System Monitor widget can also be added to the panels to display CPU, Memory, Swap and Network processes.
There are many other very interesting widget to play around with on the desktop and panels as well!
Here are the MATE themes in Ubuntu Linux 24.04.1, integrating with the Cinnamon desktop.
Below are some theming screenshots from Debian MATE 12 Linux.
I've customised the panel, selected the compact menu and changed notification sizes to make it more clearer. The window lists stack onto each other with the increased size.
The MATE panels have adjustable transparency and can be re-coloured and textured very easily through its own preferences box.
See screenshots below!
A very interesting look at the user interface elements found in GNOME 2, MATE and Cinnamon Linux desktop environments!
