Dimash Kudaibergen - Samaltau | Tokyo Jazz Festival 2020
I really love this one. The string and wind players really impressed me. There is a difference with live instruments vs recorded. And with how grand the sound is, the reverb on Dimash’s voice is just fine. And I feel he really felt closer to heart that when he was singing SOS, even if he is just sitting casually cross legged on that stool. 😁
By the way, I thought the “water” sound was added digitally, didn’t realize it was the wooden tube percussion!

I think this song is about Basmachi movement.
It was a rebelation of Muslim to Russia who took them as soldiers in 1916.
It developed wide range of central Asia, and it is now thought to be one of the movements for independence.
Dimash sings it as he sings many patriotic songs, which makes him not only an idol star.
He comes to Japan soon, but he is one of several guests.
I hope this event makes him popular also in Japan.
