When you backread through a fun conversation you had with someone for hours an angel gets its wings
#I was talking to my brother about Norman doors and I had fun in my UX class and he was telling me about demon cores and the trolley problem#in his class. AND I remembered to take my meds today so I can feel every cell in my body. i can feel the neurons rubbing together#and yesterday I infodumped about the specialists bullseye chart to crow and how it ties with witch hat atelier#WHICH I MANAGED TOGET THEM TK READ IM SO HAPPY. I MAKE SQUEALING GUINEA PIG NOISES EVERY TIME THEY TELL ME WHAT THEYVE READ SO FAR. AHH#i might not even be scratching the surface with witch hat there are so many themes i could not possibly fathom or go over my heasd#and thats what makes it so exciting there are so many spaces in between that you can fill with your thoughts and i. i#waves my hands around manically#for anyone interested in my insane ramblings. the bullseye chart is from are we all scientific experts now by harry collins#in my own words its basically saying everything we know about anything is a game of broken telephone#and it discusses how information gets lost in translation between experts and laymen including things that arent in control#one of the main points was how things that happen between experts are complicated including debates and findings#that you can only really understand thru research and experience in that field and cant be smoothly shared without it being reworded#and risking some of those key points. or even concepts that are hard to understand that cant be shared at all#like if you tried to tell me about how DNA works using words scientists are familiar with but i am NOT- i risk missing concepts that i need#to understand to know how it works on the level you understand. or i risk having it reworded and understanding it but not on that level#AND IT DOES TIE TO WITCH HAT THE WITCH AND NORMAL FOLK COMMUNITIES I PROMISE. ITS SO INTERESTING#anyway i spent hours reading back thru that conversation and i might as well admit it goes for almost every fun conversation i have#and it might be the 20mg of adderall in my body but i am in such a state of peace and love i have to verbalize it. ahh#yapping

Chinese RWRB fans are some of the most unhinged RWRB fans in the whole fandom
Remember when I said I watched a Bilibili video creator make a whole 25-minute video speculating on everything that firstprince did during their night in Paris by analysing marks on Henry/Nick's body?
Well I just saw on Weibo a RWRB fan who's a forensic analyst who wrote a "scientific" report proving Nick is scientifically a babygirl by analysing his skull structure 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And no I'm sorry but I won't be translating this one, it's phrased too academically for me to handle it 😅

Thinking about finally throwing all my FF7 meta analysis and lore deep dive stuff onto a sideblog. It'd be reblogged from here, but I'd be able to organize it a little better, have a directory so people could find things more easily, and maybe it'd stop people from regurgitating things I say word-for-word for brownie points when they can just find and reblog the fucking original post(s).

After more than a year of work on this, @0hana0fubuki0 and I are finally able to present our translation of the Religion chapter featured in the TPN Western Literature Analysis book by Kei Toda!
Disclaimers:
The translations aren't perfect and the wordings picked might not match the desired nuance of the author, as the main translator is not a native Japanese speaker. If there are things that are unsure by the translator, they will be addressed later at the bottom.
From what I can remember, this book was published at least a few weeks/months before the Mystic Code fanbook and 3rd light novel got released (and based on Part 3, also possibly finished before the last few chapters of the manga were out), so certain observations written here may or may not have been made obsolete by any new information revealed in these specific sources.
Names and terms used within the series follow the Viz English translation, and mentions of the manga’s timeline are double-referenced with the fanbook.
The ESV translation is used for the Bible verses mentioned in-text.
Another thing to note is that Kei Toda is looking through this topic as a Western literature/culture scholar, and not necessarily as a theologian.

do you ever think about how english allows for a lot of cool vivid expressions with verbs due to combining them with prepositions and how spanish has gender embedded into like every word and how the inflectional system is incredibly rich and. do you ever think of how that changes the way in which we understand and create literature in both languages since they have such different tools for producing poetic imagery. do you ever think about that.

Hello fellow Epic fans and hello Polish Epic fans! So, a couple of days ago I started wondering how Just a Man would sound if someone translated it into Polish and yeah. I've translated it. this is what doing a major in translation studies does to people
Enjoy and comment away my work if you'd like! I must say that I'm proud of how it's turned out. I tried to stick to the original text as much as I could, while also maintaing the rhymes and melody, so that it (hopefully) could be sung as well!
If you've got any questions regarding the text (no matter if you're Polish or not), reach out to me ^^ I'll be glad if you do <3
Just a Man - Jak to człowiek

Klee board game event thing early spoiler? Chatting about code switching and Traveler & Klee’s Chinese speech pattern (and maybe cultural differences…?)
I like how the Traveler plays along with Klee’s… uh what’s the word…
Roleplay? Kid speech? I like how the Traveler code-switches (THAT’S THE WORD) when talking to Klee. The Traveler sure knows how to talk to kids huh. Did they learn it from Kaeya
Tumblr media
(First image first dialogue option) “We came here after hearing Klee’s earnest call!” (no that’s not right- I don’t even know how to word this)(how is it officially translated)
(Original)
Traveler: 是可莉的心意召来了我们!
(official translation)
Traveler: Klee’s wishes summoned us here!
Tumblr media
Official translation
Lisa: Luckily, Klee noticed some fish she’d never seen before while she snuck out to play. She caught a few and showed them to Kaeya.
.
My translation
Lisa: Luckily, when little Klee snuck out to play, she noticed some fish she’d never seen before and… caught a few and asked Kaeya about them.
.
(Judging by her hesitance, caught is likely an euphemism here and Lisa is implying that Klee actually blasted the fish before showing them to Kaeya hahaha)
Tumblr media
(Context: Klee found some invasive fish species at Cider Lake)
Original Chinese
Klee: 嘿嘿,这一次可莉有功!琴团长知道了以后,还特别表扬了可莉哦!
Traveler: 可莉立大功!
Traveler: 琴团长夸夸!
.
Official Translation
Klee: Hehe, I saved the day! I even got praised by Master Jean!
Traveler: Good job, Klee!
Traveler: Well-deserved praise, indeed!
.
My Translation (maybe it’s a cultural difference)
Klee: Hehe, Klee saved the day this time! Grandmaster Jean even praised Klee after that!
Traveler: Klee did a great job!
Traveler: Yay, praise from Grandmaster Jean!
.
(Note: 可莉 = Klee. 琴团长 = Grandmaster Jean. Repeating someone’s name in third person is also a child-like language variation in Chinese. Traveler’s code switching so their tone in the second line is… pretty informal, like if Klee said “Klee was good and finished her salad!” and Traveler repeats “Yay! You finished your salad!” instead of “You finished your salad, indeed!” haha)
Tumblr media
WHAT DO YOU MEAN 乖 (term of endearment, think mother-to-tiny-child or something) does Lisa think Traveler is a kid or something… haha (Traveler keeps the code-switching and also responds to her in a kid-like way since Klee’s in the same scene)
(Context: Lisa asks Traveler to play the board game with Klee outside since Lisa herself will be staying inside for her librarian duties)
Original Chinese
Lisa: 乖,你们安心陪着小可莉去玩就好~
Traveler: 好耶,丽莎姐姐放心!
Traveler: 呜呜,辛苦丽莎姐姐!
.
Official Translation
Lisa: Run along now, have fun playing with Klee!
Traveler: We’ll take good care of Klee!
Traveler: Thanks, Lisa!
.
My Translation (more cultural differences)
Lisa: Now now, just relax and have fun with Klee~
Traveler: Yay! We’ll take care of Klee. Don’t worry, big sis Lisa!
Traveler: Ue ue ue, you’re very hard-working, big sis Lisa!
.
(Second line more literally is “Don’t worry, Lisa-jiejie!” but the implication is of course “We’ll take care of Klee!”)
(Third line means something like, “Ue ue ue Lisa-jiejie works so hard!”)(jiejie as a honorific is equivalent to big sis and is a familiar term used by young people for for women older than them but not old enough or don’t want to be called 阿姨 / ayi / auntie)(in this context since Klee uses jiejie for Lisa, Travler code-switches and does the same)
.
ALSO THE BOARDGAME USES THE THEME FROM THE SUMMER PARADISE MAP I— I……. really just sat there stunned for a few seconds. I thought I’d never hear it again after the event…😭 Uh— emotional damage

#genuinely such a godsend that website#in the far off year of like. 2015 if you wanted to turn a vsqx into a ust and all you had was utau you had to fight for your life#but you can do anything now. any vpr. any vsq. any ust. any xml whatever. you can turn it into an svp or whatever your heart desires#IN SECONDS. AND THERES japanese lyrics conversion with romaji and kana and vice versa#so so awesome utaformatix if my best friend#im doing my playing on my computer with vocal synthesis instead of sleeping at 2am thing again and like#i decided to finally check out the new voicevox song pitch editing update#review: pitch editing rules. unfortunately it seems to have broken the pitch line display tho LOL#BUT not entirely. if you draw notes directly in the program its fine#i also tested out a musicxml file and it worked fine too#its JUST the ust importing is what im learning. theres an open issue on the github about the problem#it also only displays in pitch editing mode which im not sure is intentional or not. i think it is. im preferred it when it showed in both#modes personally like it was in the old update but thats okay either way. more important is the ust importing sitch#but i dont speak japanese so i dunno if i should mention something. id feel a little bad like hello. sorry im machine translating this#entire convo because i know exactly 1 kanji (hito.....looks like ^ but big...) but im doing the scientific method on your software at 2am#i'll figure out if and how to bring it up later. now i should sleep because i have a shift tomorrow which ive been ignoring <3
