Most of us are guilty of this.  We look at ourselves, either our reflection or a photo, and we pick it to death of all the things we hate about it, never really stopping and looking at the whole picture.   . . I have become more conscious this year to how I look at myself.  I am not always victorious in this, but I am putting forth the effort in loving myself.  Knowing that all of the negative things that have said to me throughout my years do not define me.  While those negative things are still, at times, moving around in my head as I look at photos and/or of my reflection, they do not represent me.   . . Self-esteem and self-love is something all of us have to work on.  Living in the moment and being happy with ourselves as we journey through life is hard.  We all strive for that perfect photo.  We all strive to look our best.  We all try to ward off aging.  (Damn you Father Time!)  But all of it makes us, changes us, shapes us, into the amazing person we are. . . Introducing: The 12 Week Project
Salam,
I’m Onika, and my friend’s name is Hadiqa. Together we have started this blog to keep track of our 12 week project. The 12 Week Project is a nudge for us to ease in to the things that we have been telling each other we will do, but never make time for.
I’m 22, a housewife at the moment, newlywed to my amazing husband, Mr. M. I have 6 months before I resume my sophomore year of college. I also moved to a new State from NY to VA. 
My 12 week project is to invest in my chosen identity with one habit at a time. I have tried setting outcome based goals, and have achieved a few as well but they never felt enough. After reading Digital minimalism, Atomic Habits, 100 Days of No Goals (The Minimalist), and the Four Tendency, I have come to realize for my personality, it’s better suited for me to go for habits as a way of voting towards who I want to become.
As for Hadiqa, 
“I’m hadiqa with Onika. Let me introduce you to who I’m before jumping into my reasoning behind this blog. I’m a Finance and accounting student; you guessed it, I love numbers. However I love art as well, I have done drawing, painting, even attended makeup school to explore the artist in me. Unfortunately, being a full-time student and having a part-time job makes it difficult to practice art. 
 And the reason for starting this blog to turn my dreams into goals and goals into reality. I have been wanting to learn stock trading for the past two years or so and work on my health, Onika would second that, but not able to make progress. I just end up procrastinating. With this blog, we both will be able to achieve our goals because we’ll be held accountable. And give each other the push we might when needed.”

perfectionist vs high achiever (grateful for letting go) - Day 82
Are you a perfectionist or a high achiever. Are you driven by rules that you won't break or do you put rules in place and then bend when you see that they are not working for you? today I am grateful for high achiever (vs perfectionist) When I started Gratitude Bridge, my life was so destroyed, that I needed to put a change in place, that was quite rigid, and I had a bunch of rules around Gratitude Bridge. Every thumbnail that I did for the first two weeks was done from the same location. I made sure that I was up before every sunrise so that I could capture the sunrise. I made sure that every day I wrote a story and I did a video on it. I had all these different rules and perfectionism in place that by the end of the first month of this project. I was in a better place in some respects, but a lot worse of because I couldn't maintain the perfectionist attitude I'd put in place. Today I have been able to let go of a lot of the rules that I've put in place around Gratitude Bridge. I don't always do a sunrise. I definitely don't take photos from the same location every day. I don't always do a story. Last night was another example of something I had to let go, one of the rules I had in place was that a video would get released on the day, every day for 365 days. Last night the video didn't get published until about 16 minutes after midnight. I had had some issues with the internet, but to be honest, I also left the video to the last minute. So today, I keep doing Gratitude Bridge because I learn every day in doing this project. I am a high achiever, I let go of the perfectionist in me and just be grateful for the project that I'm doing. today, I'm grateful being a high achiever What are you grateful for? Distraction and Focus Right here, I'm just going to point out a little bit of clutter that I'm currently walking across every morning just to go to my socks and undies draw before I get going in the morning. And this is just an example of some of the clutter going on in my life at the moment. today I am grateful for learning how clutter creates a distraction Distraction and Loss of Focus How often do you have trouble focusing on a task at hand because your mind keeps drifting back to the clutter around you? Do you often have thoughts about how you need to do something about it? Do these thoughts interrupt your work? A cluttered work area makes it almost impossible to focus on the task at hand. It is harder to complete a task if you spend excess time finding the supplies that you need. negative people vs negative episode (grateful for friends venting) - Day 63
If you suffer from depression, then it's beneficial to stay away from people that are negative, but that doesn't mean you that you need to stay away from negative emotions. And what I am talking about here is that I have some great friends that help me out and communicate with me and look after me but sometimes they get angry at stuff, and they like to vent, and I find that when their venting, that gives me a lot of time to just sit as a friend and listen and to get off myself and that's been really beneficial to me. today I am grateful for venting negative emotion I like it when people vent to me. I don't feel like it annoys me. I can honestly say I'd push anything out of the way, to listen to you vent. Because I know how it feels when you have so much bottled inside of you. Yesterday was a day of lethargy, apathy, binge eating, it was a pretty crap day yesterday, to be honest, and today when I woke up, I couldn't come up with any topics to talk about with depression or gratitude. I road over the gratitude bridge this morning and I did some gratitude's, but then I didn't know what to talk about today. So what I've done today is just write a little poem on depression. today I am grateful for observing depression through poetry Feeling sad, I am not glad; you think about me, you think I'm mad. Feeling lost, my sanity the cost, you talk about me, you think I'm soft. Irritable and moody, my mind is broody, I bring you down, you think I'm loopy. I'm grateful for recognizing the signs of my depression.
Some people cannot get out of bed. Some can. Some people cannot keep a job. Some can. today I am grateful for understanding depression Some people with depression cannot get out of bed. Some can. Some people with depression cannot keep a job. Some can. Some people with depression cannot eat. Some can. Some people with depression cannot stop eating. Some can. Some people self-harm. Some don't. Some people are suicidal. Some aren't. Some people take medication. Some don't. Some people meditate. Some won't. Some people have more bad days than others. Some people have more support systems than others. Don't contribute to stigmatisation. My point is that depression is not universal and while there is a general cluster of symptoms, it manifests differently in everyone. You can't always spot depression on the street, in the grocery store, or at the gym. Depression doesn't always jump out at you and let you know that there's a person who is hurting deeply. What are you grateful for I am grateful for daily RUOK I spoke with Jackie yesterday, she was a receptionist at a medical centre, and I asked her about her thoughts on RUOK. She said I think it should be spoken about every day. She went on to tell me how her neighbour, a wonderful 30-year-old man with a wife and two children under the age of 3 who had committed sucide last year. She said she could never have predicted that he would be the type to commit suicide. I asked her, why do you think people don't ask RUOK more often and she said that you ask people how they are and they just come back with a common response of FINE and if you probe, they get irritated by you. This morning I asked three commuters the same question, and the answers were a little lacklustre, one guy thought the day was just a waste with people sending out lots of RUOK messages without really caring about the recipients, but more concerned with what people would think about them because they did a selfless act, he thought the whole thing was phoney.
