Set/Seth/Suetekh
Egyptian God of the Desert, Storms, Disorder, Violence, War, Chaos, Fire, Trickery, Envy, Storms and Foreigners
Set, also known as Seth and Suetekh was the brother of Osiris, Isis and Horus the Elder, uncle to Horuc the Younger, and Brother-Husband to Nephthys. His other consort was the goddess Tawaret, a hippo-headed deity who presided over fertility and childbirth. He is one of the first five gods created by the union of Geb (Earth) and Nut (Sky) after the creation of the world. His name is usually translated as "Instigator of confusion" and "Destroyer" and he was associated with Disorder, Foreign Lands and People, and the color red. He is sometimes depicted as a red-haired beast with a forked tail and cloven hooves or a shaggy red dog-like beast known as a sha (or, to modern-day scholars, as the Set Animal) which some scholars claim was modeled on the Saluki breed while others maintain was a purely mythological creature. Imagined speciffically to represent Set whose other symbols were The Griffin, Hippopotamus, Crocodile, and Tortoise (Though he was primarily associated with the serpent). Other Names He was often called were "Lord of the Desert" and "Ruler of the South" as he was originally a god of Upper Egypt (the south) and the barren lands beyond Egypts borders.

Mini Set guide
Historical Info Names: Set, Sutekh, Seth, Seteh Epithets: Lord of the Desert, Ruler of the South, Pantheon: Kemetic/ Egyptian Condensed list of domains: The red land (upper Egypt), deserts, chaos, war, foreigners, storms Symbols: The Was (war) sceptor, ankh, sha animal Offering ideas: things in red, iron, weapons, desert iconography (cacti, sand, etc...), lettuce Fun fact: in the early early days of Egypt, Set was seen as a deity residing over love. That’s right our good pal Set was invoked for love spells and put on amulets to help with love.
UPG
Set in my experience is a very upfront entity, that is if he wants something it’ll be known. When he first tried to contact me (and really the only time he’s contacted me) it wasn’t with the usual “oh if you see lots of x it means y” no it was tinnitus that physically hurt and the x-box turning on and off on its own. Yes, that could be taken as sooo many other things, but I have my reasons for interpreting them that way.
Snacks! I swear these are the most common offerings I feel compelled to give. Every time I have a cookie or some baked rolls, there’s always that pull to drop some off at his alter.
Even though he’s a very upfront entity, he isn’t really the most involved if that makes sense. Again this is my personal relationship, but anyways, I’ve been worshiping him for roughly 2 years now (April 21, 2018) and honestly there hasn’t been any like “life changing” moments. It’s a common sight on social media platforms to see “well I did this and this with x and y said this to me and yadayadayada” and like worded statements, but the truth is that probably isn’t going to happen especially with Set. In Kemetic circles, him just disappearing for months is a bit notorious.
He cares! He might not always answer every meditation session or hang out with you, but for all my sui/ci/dal breakdowns on his alter things changed for the better.
Worship inspiration There is no right way to honor him, but these are small things I like to do
Offer historical offerings (see top of post)
Make him things- I’ve painted, sculpted, and tried experimental photography for Him lol
Dedicate new hobbies and ventures to Him
Collect trinkets while traveling
I have a travel alter I put stuff in
Just try new things in general
Some physical fitness- if you can’t work out, just try some light stretching or maybe drink more water in His name
extra points for martial arts
Research Him (and share your findings)- the best way to beat misinformation is with the right info!
Don’t forget to pray/ talk to Him- This can go two ways: both we get caught up trying to get the “perfect” offering or trying to look good for the community, that we forget to actually talk and the fact Heka is very much centered around the belief that words hold power. When you dedicate praise and blessings and actually mean it, it’s basically the equivalent of offering something physical.

I realized Set would be the type for a mini skirt with a slit in it for mobility purposes, and a whole damn outfit idea came out of it so here we are.

After describing some Old Kingdom finds, Petrie speaks of "the far later limestone stela of Set and Hathor (XLIII). The heads are covered with gold leaf, put on carelessly, and spreading irregularly 1/4 inch beyond the outline." _Naqada and Ballas_, page 5

Set: the Perfect God
SET:
God of thunder, lord of storms: Did you hear the rain? The day your brother died- Did you grieve then? Later? Never? For you knew from the start- Chaos has a purpose. Even if it hurts. Order can stagnate, fester- And you clean away decay. New things grow only when the old is stripped away. You knew: Everyone needs a god. And everyone needs to face the storm.
Were you unpopular then, great one? Well, you were named Thief of the Dawn, and Perhaps you have stolen yourself a new day. Your children come to you: Hearts asunder, your name on their tongue, Begging for a storm.

Ahhh I was finally able to purchase Set's chair! Pretty sure all of the Egyptian is fake but I love it. Set is a little naked for now but I'm sure he won't mind.

(Fake) Rule of Thumb for the Netjeru:
1. Everyone is the Sun
2. Everyone is the Nile.
3. Except Set who is the opposite of those things, because no one likes him. Except when they like him.
