“Men were merely toys to play with …” Meet Alaina Capri, the insolent leading lady of Russ Meyer’s outrageous 1967 sexploitation shocker Good Morning … and Goodbye! (released in the UK as Confessions of a Sexy Supervixen!) - which just happens to be the FREE monthly Lobotomy Room’s presentation this month! Thursday 15 May 2025 in the luxurious surroundings of Fontaine’s in Dalston! Capri made only two films with “rural Fellini” Meyer (the other one was Common Law Cabin, also released in ’67), then abandoned acting entirely. Capri apparently felt betrayed by the amount of her bare flesh Meyer revealed onscreen (she thought it was going to be mostly “implied”). Later, Capri worked as a schoolteacher (!) and never spoke of her b-movie past. When Russ Meyer’s definitive biographer Jimmy McDonough eventually tracked her down, Capri explained, “I was embarrassed by those pictures because I thought “Oh God if my family or anybody sees me in these pictures, they’re gonna think I’m a bad person.”” Alaina, no! Your scalding performance as bad girl Angel in Good Morning is unforgettable and makes you cult cinema royalty! Note that this portrait of Capri is actually from Common Law Cabin rather than Good Morning. The latter is so obscure at this point there are virtually no usable good quality photos online – or at least ones that are safe for social media!
