A while back Instagram decided to make it impossible for US artists to manually opt out of allowing Meta AI to scrap their work. Currently the only way to opt out is to send Meta a *request*, in which you need to include proof that your art has already been scraped....and then I guess they get back to you on that.

Anyways, I was and kinda still am going through a self loathing problem when it comes to my art. This definitely didn't help, but it did give me the motivation to go looking into what's happening with ai and how to fight it. You can read those ramblings under the cut if you so wish.

So! If you have a computer that can run it, I highly recommend downloading Nightshade and Glaze. Glaze will protect your art style from being copied, but Nightshade is a POISON. If shading a single image, you can manually enter a tag for NS to "cloak". If shading in batches, Nightshade will generate a tag for each image after scanning them for recognizable images. It's a bit hit or miss sometimes, but the above images when run through NS would most likely be tagged as something like "cartoon" or "glasses" or "drawing". That way when they are scraped, the ai will be shown something that isn't a cartoon/glasses/drawing but is tagged as such, and that will alter what it generates when prompted with any of those words. Even if you aren't an artist, you can run anything from game screenshots to memes through it. Tags can also be character names like Mario, Sonic, etc.

Currently, AI devs are expecting to have completely run out of unscraped data by 2026, according to this article I found. Which means they have, and continue to, scrape everything you can find just by moseying through the internet. One of the ways that MetaAI came up with to possibly get more material, was to buy a publishing company so they could scrape all the available books under it's name.

AI cannot generate images meant to imitate art unless it has art it can steal. Protect your art, or just poison it for fun. Either we kill it or it starves.

Oh my god...I found that old Dolly animatic I was making way back when. I posted the two "waving" frames seperately, but here's the video they were for. I'm not really happy with how it turned out and I was still figuring out Hitfilm at the time so it's a bit shoddy. But here it is anyways!
