A virtual world meant for the future

Little pre note before i start here. I originally was going to make this a youtube video, but given i have absolutely no editing skills, i figured the best course of action was to come here to Tumblr to talk about my newest discovery.

i have 19 followers as of writing this post, but, here goes nothing.

Surely all of you remember Second Life, the MMO Virtual World game released in Linden Labs in 2003. Said game blew up for it’s uniqueness, how it allowed you to completely customize a character how you wanted and go to worlds to socialize, hence living a “second life”.

The game, now 17 years old, is starting to show its age. Starting the age and putting a good avatar together, without dropping real life money on the game, is a hazard and extremely difficult to find clothes that fit certain body types. Relatively, the game doesn’t look horrible. But time does come for us all.

I’ve done multiple searches on alternatives to Second Life, which usually only suggested Avakin’s Life or IMVU 

But today, quite literally this morning, i was introduced to SineSpace via an article about somebody who makes a “Greedy Greedy tournament”. And after more research, there were actual news reports claiming this game was “beating Linden Labs to the Second Life of VR”.

Shocked, I decided I had to look into it myself. 

When you get into SineSpace, you’re already greeted with a default avatar, which even on an inital look is miles ahead of Second Life. The game gives you 30,000 silver (an in game currency) to spend when you first sign up, allowing you to buy better clothes to deck out your avatar. 

The worlds in this game are beautiful. There are clubs with flashing lights, islands with bright sunny horizons, and an Alice In Wonderland themed chess land.

I found through their Welcome area that a specific group, LocalHost, was hosting a “Geek Meetup” every Monday morning to talk about scientific and nerdy advancements or announcements.

With my light knowledge of DND and a love for amusement parks, I joined in on the meeting, and had the time of my life. The people I met there were so nice, and obviously an established group, albeit a bit small.

This experience has definitely assured me that SineSpace has a place for me in the future, and that being here for this game is worth it. 

The worst part about SineSpace, if anything, is how small the community is. (like seriously. on the “busy” tab for realms i’ve never seen more than 4 people in a world max yet).

But i’m positive with time and outreach, the game will grow and bloom into the next biggest virtual world out there.

If you have time on your hands, perhaps maybe an hour, I sincerely suggest looking into this game. Its got great graphics, lovely people, and so much potential.

(did i mention its ran on Unity to make it friendly to content creators? no? hm. well you know now.)
