This headshot is a gift for HaloLuna ! I made this because I absolutely love the design of NexusDragons and I love the artworks she makes and the effort she puts into dragon art!

This one is for GuiFFI !!!  Took a while because background choices. Another one of my headshot dragon drawings yey. Wanted to experience a little with daylight enviorment rather then a blank night one. So here it is! I love how it came out.

Nyabula, space cat guardian of space, inspired by early 2000′s internet culture, and can manipulate her own gravity as well as control her scarf as arms.

Searen, glowing siren guardian of the sea, inspired by deep sea bioluminescent animals, and can control her glowing parts as well as water.

Skyvern, a robot dragon guardian of the sky, inspired by various machines, and can fly with their cape-like wings

Dorabbit, traditional rabbit guardian of earth, inspired by traditional japan and various patterns and textures (As well as Avatar because I’ve been rewatching it), and can control the ground around himself as well as make flowers grow at will.

Ooh, what a lovely gift! Thank you! *vanishes pretty rocks into a drawer in my workshop*

Everyone knows that swift and agile creatures have a weakness: their knees. You can’t spring and leap and twist if your knees hurt. One day, Runaan limped home from what was supposed to be a simple scouting run into the Forest and collapsed against the door jamb and knocked. On the door of his own house.

When I pulled open the door and saw him there, saw the look in his eyes, I scooped him right up, turned around, kicked the door shut behind me with one foot, and carried him upstairs to see to him. And he just... leaned silently against me, pressing his forehead against my jaw, eyes shut, breathing in heavy relief. I could tell he’d walked a long way in a lot of pain to get home to me, and I couldn’t leave him feeling untended-to for a moment longer.

I sat him down and started checking him over from head to toe, and he held still, eyes closed, and soaked up my touch. I found far too many scrapes and bruises for my liking--my liking likes to find zero, by the way--but when I reached his left knee, encased in a scraped and dusty thigh high boot, he hissed in pain and twitched at my touch.

My eyes flew to his, and I read what he couldn’t hide there. He knew it was bad, and he’d walked home on it anyway. I could feel the swelling inside his boot. I squinted at him for a moment, thinking.

“You’re due for a new pair of boots, anyway,” I told him.

“What? No, wait...” he protested, faintly. But I was already rising to fetch my tools. I returned with leather shears and unceremoniously began cutting my way down from the top of his boot, freeing his knee from its leather prison.

I could hear Runaan’s silent mourning for his precious boot even as I snipped through it, but he held still for me nonetheless. When I’d cut all the way down to his ankle, I lifted the opened boot away and started right in on cutting up his pant leg too.

“That’s really not necessary,” Runaan protested, hands fluttering around mine.

“Hold still,” I ordered. Nothing was going to deter me from getting to the problem Runaan had, so that I could begin to address it.

“Ethari... I’m...” His hands subsided, and he couldn’t quite bring himself to lie to me about Being Fine.

Well. His knee was in bad shape when I finally got to it, under all his layers. I took it ever so gently in my hands and brushed the softest kiss atop its bruises. I couldn’t help it. “Let’s get this tended to, hmm?” I said lightly, but I was worried.

I set to work with my salves and wraps, but in order to tend my husband properly, I needed to know exactly what he’d done to himself. So I paused often, testing, pressing, lifting, every so gently. Not because I expected his knee to tell me its secrets, though. I was prompting Runaan to tell me the story that he clearly didn’t want to tell me.

Eventually, he gave in to my stalling, though. He always does.

“Landslide,” he began.

“Ah, that would explain the state of your tunic,” I replied lightheartedly.

Runaan plucked at the edge of the garment as if noticing its worn and torn state for the first time. “Ah. No, some of this is from the fall.”

“The fall,” I repeated flatly.

“Because of the tail smack,” he added reluctantly.

“Runaan.”

“Not to worry,” he blurted. “My knee was fine at that point.”

“Go back to the tail smack,” I ordered.

“Skyvern. Late hibernation in a cave high on the Cloud Palisades. We were, ah, both a bit surprised.“

“So, tail smack?”

“Tail smack.”

I waited patiently. He does like to downplay things with style.

Finally, he added more, with his eyes on his injured knee. “The scree slope took issue with my attempted three-point landing.”

“So: landslide,” I concluded.

He nodded.

I squinted again, because there had to be more. Runaan knows his way around the odd tumble and scrape. A little landslide of rocks was unlikely to leave him this injured.

He blinked at me. Looked back at his knee. Opened his mouth. Closed it again. Looked at me, guiltily.

I raised a patient eyebrow.

He opened his mouth, hesitated, and finally, quietly, added. “Skyverns wake famished after months of hibernation. And...”

“And?”

The ghost of a sassy smile crossed his lips, and my heart sank. He was going to make a joke at his own expense in an attempt to lighten the mood. “And you know how you call me a snack.”

This elf. My mood went from worry to exasperation in a moonlight minute. “Runaan!” I blurted accusingly.

He had the sheer audacity to smirk at me!

I rose high on my knees and captured his face in my hands, heedless for the moment of his knee. “Runaan, you utter fool. Did she try to eat you?”

He clasped my elbows reflexively, holding me nose to nose with him, our wide eyes blazing. “Unsuccessfully. If I am a snack, then it’s writ large across my wrappings: This Snack Belongs To Ethari. Steal At Your Own Risk.”

I scoffed and leaned my forehead against his in relief, for he sat there, safe and sound--mostly--under my touch. “The risk was clearly yours. Do you have any talon rakes I haven’t found yet?”

“Not to worry. She pounced down at me before I could escape the landslide, while my foot was trapped beneath a larger boulder. But I wrenched myself free before she landed. Leaped off a cliff, slid down an ice field, hopped across a melting river, and lost myself in the treeline.”

“That simple, huh?” I asked in soft sarcasm.

Runaan only heard the soft part. “Yes. Easy.” He kissed me in gentle apology for making me worry. “And then I found you. And here we are. Safe.”

My hands rechecked him for hurts, reassuring myself that he was indeed there with me. “Safe,” I repeated quietly. I finished wrapping his knee in silence. Then I worked off all his dusty, damaged clothes, gave him a soft wipedown with rosewater, and brushed out his hair. One more scoop, and I settled him in bed so he could rest and recuperate comfortably.

“Stay?” he asked softly, as I pulled a blanket up over him. His fingers twined with mine.

I looked down at him. “You’re still a fool, Runaan.”

His eyes widened.

I brushed my fingers along his hairline and down his cheek, then I tilted his chin up at me. “Don’t you know yet? I always stay.”

I tucked myself around him with gentle care and listened to his breathing even out as he fell asleep in my arms.

Safe.

NaNo Prep Part 3 (Part 4)

I’ve been quiet for a while, you know life and all that happened for a bit, but I’m back with the next part of my NaNo outline :) I’ve come to accept by now that I’m pretty much ignoring the last few parts of the NaNo Prep 101 guide, but that’s mostly because my life doesn’t really support those parts. The bits I’m ignoring deal with organizing my life rofl and scheduling and managing my time lmao. I would love to be able to really devote November fully to achieving NaNo, but the reality is, I have to fit it in around what’s going on in my life and make it work.

Also, I’m skipping most of the section that deals with world-building as it doesn’t really gel with my writing/planning style. The worlds I build tend to spin into being as I’m writing or they ambush me with details just out of the blue. I think maybe after NaNo is done with for another year I will sit down and think about my world-building style... As I write this I realize I don’t have much insight into my creative process and to analyze it might help :)

Anywho, for now the outlining continues with Part 4 of my outline, chapters 7 and 8. (Part One can be found here, Part Two can be found here and Part Three can be found here.)

Chapter 7 – Flaer Migration.

o   Images as seen through the eyes of Flaer. Men entrancing them and then caging them. Flocks of Flaer dropping from the skies. The lands they have always lived in paling behind them over the horizon. One Flaer who gets separated from their flock sees a strange haract and stealthily investigates, spotting the one known as Alawin before they are found by their flock and continue their migration away from danger. The Flaer sends a pulse of magic in Alawin’s direction, a wish for success and good luck.

Chapter 8 – Winds of Change.

o   While they travel they get caught in a strange wind pattern and the haract sustains minor damage as well. Chaylish is injured and Shashi also suffers two broken fingers saving Alawin from falling overboard.

o   Keril is trying to keep the haract in the air when she sees something in the clouds. She is astounded when a rare flying lizard called a skyvern crash lands on the deck. Keril calls Estra and Shashi to come and help the creature while she stabilizes the haract.

o   The skyvern growls at the men and won’t let them approach, but when Keril fixes the haract enough to get them to Westertwin she goes to see to the skyvern and it lets her see to its wounds. The skyvern pretty much adopts Keril, riding everywhere on her shoulder.

o   The group lands just before sunset and holes up on Westertwin because there is a new settlement on Eastertwin. 

o   Alawin decides to tell Chaylish and Shashi a little about what’s going on as she trusts them more, but she omits some information such as the name of the person who will end the world, pretending she doesn’t know. Chaylish is stunned and Shashi appears to be a little confused and doesn’t seem to fully understand what’s going on. They talk about what Alawin is trying to do, but as she has to lie to keep Tuil’s name out of the conversation they get nowhere.

o   Alawin eventually gets frustrated and wanders away to find some solitude. She thinks deeply about the problem of not being able to see any more futures, but can’t come up with a solution.

o   Estra, Chaylish and Shashi decide to travel to Holdring Rivermouth (closest town on the mainland) to get supplies and Keril goes to find Alawin.

o   When Keril finds Alawin, her friend is sitting on the edge of a cliff and staring out at the view. Moonlight sparkles off a river far below and nightbirds call in the rippling canopy of the trees. Keril asks what’s wrong and Alawin hesitates and then blurts out that she only has one future left to see.

o   Keril goes straight from worried to pissed that Alawin hadn’t told her about her futureless future. She is also angry that Alawin was going to try and see more futures and possibly end up timeblind**, trying to handle it on her own.

o   **Timeblind is when a future-hunter tries to see more futures than they are meant to and they go blind. The amount of futures they can see is revealed in their first futureview and is something that cannot be changed unless they decide not to become a future-hunter.

o   Alawin apologizes and tries to explain that she can’t see how to stop Tuil ending the world without hunting more time creatures and seeing more futures.

o   Keril shoves Alawin and picks up a stone, hurling it off the edge of the cliff. She shoves Alawin again and says that she will be the one who sees the futures as long as Alawin can hunt the time creatures.

o   Alawin stares at Keril and stutters that she thought that Keril wasn’t interested in future views. Keril has never seen a future (made a point of not wanting to know). Keril shrugs and says offhandedly that she would rather accidently catch a glimpse of her own future than watch the world end without doing anything to stop it.

The only thing that worries Keril about the idea is that they have no idea how many futures she will be able to see once she sees her first one and she’s scared that it might not be enough for what they need to do. Alawin is humbled and in awe of her friend’s courage and selflessness, swears to herself that she will work out a way to change the future without Keril getting hurt.

[Realistic]- Skyvern Headshot

You can either consider this realistic or semirealistic, one of the two anyway, because the original character design is anime-style. Still couldn’t make it completely perfect because I can’t layer everything perfectly as I would be able to in digital.   I think this took me 6 or more hours to make it. This is GuiFFI's bakugan, Skyvern (link to reference sheet), and how she would look from the anime in real life. And her eyes, they have some shades of white. Even in darkness, light still exists, you know? I used only the yellow from the eye because I wanted it to catch the attention of the viewer. The parts that I used as reference for her look here are: - eagle mouth - animal fur - small feathers - pheasant feathers - diamond gem and rounded gem - dragon eye and scales The photo is at full resolution, so you can zoom in and see all the details! (if you're on pc)  I designed the bakugan based on 2 bakugans from the actual anime/cartoon. And since I didn’t want to sell her to some random stranger once I got kind of attached to her, I gave her to my bff :)

I have two “dragon”-rider story concepts. Skyworld and Dragonstar. But I’d need Sanderson level writing to do Skyworld justice which is far beyond me atm. The Felcron remain my coolest creature designs to date though. Precious alien rocket dragon.
