In the modern era, test cases are significant for developing quality mobile apps. But what exactly is a test case? It is a series of steps performed on an application to verify if its features are functioning as intended. The test cases are written by software testers, and unit test cases are often written by developers as well. In short, a test case outlines how to test a mobile app from different perspectives, describing how the app should work under both normal and abnormal conditions. To improve the quality and reliability of mobile apps, creating proper test cases is essential. Based on these test cases, an app development company in India validates whether the functionalities are working correctly.

Skywave Linux v5 is Now on Debian Sid!
Enjoy shortwave radio and overseas broadcasts, no matter where you are. Skywave Linux brings the signals to you. Broadcasting, amateur radio, maritime, and military signals are available at your fingertips.
Skywave Linux is a free and live computing environment you boot from a flash drive on your PC. Start it up, pick a radio server somewhere in the world, and tune in some stations.
Skywave Linux brings you the signals, whether or not you have a big outdoor antenna or can afford an expensive communications receiver. Hundreds and hundreds of volunteer operated radio servers are on the internet, which let you tune the airwaves and pick up broadcasts in excellent locations and on high performance equipment.
If you are into FT-8, PSK-31, JT-65, or other digimodes, you can decode the signals in Skywave Linux. It also has tools for decoding weather satellites, ACARS, and ADS-B signals.
Not only is Skywave Linux a prime system for software defined radio, but also for programming and coding. It has the Neovim editor and support for several programming languages: Python, Lua, Go, and Javascript. It is a great system for Web developers.
Debian Sid is now the base operating system which Skywave Linux builds upon. It is debloated, tuned, and tweaked for speed, so that you get the best possible computing performance. It works nicely on old laptops; it is super fast on a multi core, high spec PC.
For shortwave listening, weather satellite decoding, or airband monitoring, Skywave Linux is the system you want!

Crowdsourced Doppler measurements of time standard stations demonstrating ionospheric variability
Ionospheric variability produces measurable effects in Doppler shift of HF (high-frequency, 3–30 MHz) skywave signals. These effects are straightforward to measure with low-cost equipment and are conducive to citizen science campaigns. The low-cost Personal Space Weather Station (PSWS) network is a modular network of community-maintained, open-source receivers, which measure Doppler shift in the precise carrier signals of time standard stations. The primary goal of this paper is to explain the types of measurements this instrument can make and some of its use cases, demonstrating its role as the building block for a large-scale ionospheric and HF propagation measurement network which complements existing professional networks. Here, data from the PSWS network are presented for a period of time spanning late 2019 to early 2022. Software tools for the visualization and analysis of this living dataset are also discussed and provided. These tools are robust to data interruptions and to the addition, removal or modification of stations, allowing both short- and long-term visualization at higher density and faster cadence than other methods. These data may be used to supplement observations made with other geospace instruments in event-based analyses, e.g., traveling ionospheric disturbances and solar flares, and  to assess the accuracy of the bottomside estimates of ionospheric models by comparing the oblique paths obtained by ionospheric ray tracers with those obtained by these receivers.

11/24/19 EECS Balloon, day 11 -- Hello Azores, --Europe, here I come!
Hi All, Balloon link: https://tracker.habhub.org/#!mt=roadmap&mz=2&qm=All&mc=26.66531,-46.96101&q=!RS_*;nu6xb-11 After a long pause of over 5 heartbreaking days, where the balloon was traveling over the Atlantic Ocean, with no ground stations to relay its position, the balloon has finally pinged back! The first packet was received at 3:07am PST by the station CU3CO, and then CU3EM on the Island of Terceira which is part of the Azores archipelago. The Azores is a group of Island, which is one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal. It composes of 9 volcanic Islands, about 850miles east of continental Portugal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azores).   The station CU3EM is operated by Paulo Jorge Martins Borges,  and CU3CO is operated by Carlos Ramos — both are avid ham radio operators.  On his QRZ.com page, Carlos mentions he has been a ham radio operator since the 80’s. He has operated mostly on short wave radio and like to make long distance contacts. Amateur radio is his favorite pastime activity.  We are all grateful that they also put an APRS relay station — so we can get a report of our balloon. The Azores are in Portugal time-zone, which is the same as the UK — or 8 hours ahead of California. During the balloon local daytime, it travelled at at an altitude of 24,400’  going in a north-east direction (60 degrees) with speed starting at 50Mph and accelerating up to 70Mph at the end of the day.  The balloon crossed the Azores Islands and was last heard from at 7:30am PST this morning, about 80 miles east of Terceira.   Based on the wind patterns, I hope that the balloon will keep heading towards the shores of Portugal and therefore we will be able to track it for much longer. Extra info: As mentioned in previous emails, the balloon uses the VHF (very high frequency) band (about 144MHz) to transmit its location. VHF radio waves propagate mostly in straight line and need to be within the line-of-sight to ground base stations in order to be heard. It helps that the ballon is high in the air, so its range can cover a radius of 300 miles (approximately).  This approach is great when the balloon is over land, however, this limits the ability to track it  over the long stretches of ocean waters — or in places where there are no aprs ground stations (like Africa). There are several possibilities to mitigate that while keeping the load small and equipment cheap. The international space station, as well as several amateur radio satellites are equipped with APRS repeaters. These satellites travel around the earth in a Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) path. Its about 200-1200 Miles high. The ISS travels around 250 miles over the earth. At this height, satellite will do a full orbit in about 90 min. The ISS crosses us within its line of sight between 3-6 times a day.  Since these satellites are higher than our balloon, their radio line of site is almost a 1000-miles so balloons can perhaps relay their positions through them. Another option is to use a different radio band, and protocol to communicate over longer distances. Again, APRS operates at the VHF frequencies with line-of-sight. The radio in the balloon transmits about 0.5W-1W of power in very short 0.5seconds long packets.  On the other hand, amateur radio operators have traditionally been using the short-wave, or High-Frequency (HF) radio bands to communicate over much longer distances. HF spans the frequencies between 3-30 MHz.  At these frequencies, the earth's ionosphere can act as a glass, refracting radio waves back to earth, and thus allowing world-wide radio coverage without the need of repeaters.  The ionosphere consists of several layers. The most important are the D and F layers. The D layer tends to absorb low frequency radio waves and pass higher frequencies. It is between 37-56 miles above us.  The F layer(s) are between 100-300 miles. They tend to refract lower frequencies and pass high frequencies. Between the two, there is a narrow band of frequencies that will pass the D layer, and be refracted by the F layer and allow communications. The range of frequencies depend on the time of day, the season, and the solar activity.  For more information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skywave Using shortwaves, signals can propagate over thousands of miles. The problem is that the power on the balloon radio is limited. For this WSPR  (whisper) comes to the rescue!  WSPR stands for weak signal propagation reporter. WSPR (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WSPR_(amateur_radio_software))  leverages signal coding and modulation that enables it to be detected at extremely low signal to noise ratio environment. For example, a station transmitting WSPR at 0.015 W (This is Similar to the power from an indicator LED on electronic gadgets ) can often be heard hundreds to thousands of miles away.  The method was developed by Nobel-Prize Laureate Joe Taylor (Princeton), who also distributes software for encoding and decoding WSPR. There are many stations around  the world monitoring and transmitting WSPR signals in order to track the ever changing ionospheric propagation.  Our next balloon will also be equipped with a WSPR transmitter! This map: http://wsprnet.org/drupal/wsprnet/map shows all the connections that have been made over the last 30min on the 10MHz frequency band using WSPR. Hope you enjoyed this update. — Miki

KRD Special Feature: From Strength to Strength (FEBC @70)  PART 2
Tumblr media
June 1, 2018 marked DZFE’s 64th year in the broadcast scene as the country’s sole classical music & Christian values station on the FM band via 98.7mHz broadcasting 21 hours daily. It is also the last day of FEBC Mediafest at SMX Convention Center, which started on May 30.
Before I troop to the venue, I find some stopovers for lunch, but it all ended at SM Hypermarket MOA. I visited the Main Mall for the first time since I just covered Transport Show 2 years back on this blog at the same venue. After lunch and talks with my mom, at 1pm, I went to the venue and with my confirmation receipt sent from my e-mail and screengrabbed to my phone, I proceeded to the 2/F of the venue (my previous coverage was held at the ground floor, which is the Hall areas 1-4) which has Function Halls.
Tumblr media
The event was divided into two venues: Function Hall 1 is for the expo area, while Function Hall 2 is for the Media Convention which was held on May 31 & June 1, featuring notable speakers Charles Morris of Haven Today, Harold & Darlene Sala of Guidelines International, Ptr. Ed Lapiz of Day by Day Ministries, among others.
Tumblr media
The exhibit area has booths of different supporters of the network, these were: 8BTSI Inc., Broadcast World Philippines, Salvation Army, Philippine Bible Society, Philippine Christian Bookstore, AP Media, Will Graham Celebration (for the upcoming event on February 2019 at Luneta Grandstand), SAVED Radio (for the ticket selling of Hillsong United & Hillsong Young and Free concert in Manila), Operation Blessing, OH! Philippines, among others. There are also dedicated booths for FEBC: The New Media booth (where you can listen to Pinoy Connection and NowXD, FEBC’s Internet stations broadcasting worldwide), the PM Radio booth (where you can buy a fix-tuned Portable Missionary Radio set, pre-tuned to DZAS and operates on 220V AC or on DC-powered 2-D sized Batteries), the Piso Para sa Radyo coinbank (where you can avail the coinbank in standard cans, and more recently, in boxes for free), and the FEBC merchandise booth (where the Anniversary album ‘Sa Kanyang Lakas’ along with a songbook companion is available, plus recent Papuri! releases, and FEBC books ‘Skywaves’, ‘Eyes to the Horizon’ and others are also on-sale).
The main radio booth is at the rear-end of the function hall 1 where LIVE broadcasts of DZAS Anniversary specials were held on the following timeslots: May 30, Wednesday & May 31, Thursday-9:30am to 12nn (PRE-EMPTING Family Matters and Entrepinoy Espesyal); 1:30 to 5pm (PRE-EMPTING 1/2 of the Afternoon block)/June 1, Friday-9:30am to12nn (PRE-EMPTING Family Matters and Entrepinoy Espesyal); 12nn to 12:30pm (LIVE special broadcast of Tinig Balita, FEBC’s midday newscast anchored by Marc Deles and Lyn Dela Cruz); 1:30 to 3pm (PRE-EMPTING Ahensya De Konsensya and Doctor’s Online).
Tumblr media
On the event’s last day, as the last live broadcast is about to begin, I roamed the booths and give some freebies. I was sat down and watch the musicians come to life. It was Mabel Air Strings performing on-stage with selected music pieces. Ms. Joana Peras and Mr. Butch Pascua hosted the last LIVE special from SMX. As the 1st act ended and the next act is preparing during the gap, I oversee the technical people manning the audio and video feeds of the event, most of which are DZAS technicians and others are part of FEBC Radyo-TV team. The audio feed (Outside Broadcast) from a remote location is beamed to the OCC studios for a clearer sound output on air and online, both on DZAS AM Radio and on the internet streaming. The LIVE video feed is directed from the Facebook live feed using Open Broadcast Studio software.
Tumblr media
I was relaxed again as the 2nd act goes into an inspiring mood. Papuri! artists Richard Roque and Kate Urrutia is on-stage now, with a backup band performing some Papuri! originals and some well-crafted original compositions. The hosts also had some games too. When the LIVE special broadcast came to an end, the acts rendered a Papuri! classic ‘Dakilang Katapatan’. I was about to meet these on-air talents in person. Of course, I met Joana Peras, Kinah Villanueva, Hannah Placer (the voice behind Oras Na Pilipinas’ Ngayon sa Kasaysayan segment) and Butch Pascua (host of Ayos Lang Kaibigan, Jesus Among Millennials or JAM, Heartline Mix & Match on Wednesdays, and Inspirations Unlimited as semi-regular host), who eventually asked me where I came from. At the end of the broadcast I even met the good-looking but kind-hearted President of FEBC Philippines, Mr. Dan Andrew Cura, who I greeted him on their anniversary. During my sidelights, I also spotted Mr. Efren Pallorina (host of DZAS morning news & information program Oras na Pilipinas) and greeted a hello. I even spotted Lyn Dela Cruz (newscaster) at Function Hall 2 at the preparation for FEBC Mediafest closing ceremonies & banquet exclusive for exhibitors and employees. As the day is about to end, I enjoyed freebies and games, thus i even played a game at Operation Blessing booth where I scored a CD contains some useful advices from Dr Kim Pascual, Operation Blessing’s EVP/COO. My bag is full of freebies and goodies, and yes, no day is wasted for this special endeavor.
NEXT UP: My story on how my life complements with FEBC’s broadcasts for 20 years now.
