(patriotic music plays) In 1777, Lafayette was commissioned by General Washington to lead his troops in the American Revolution which led them to victory! This alliance between the French and Americans was what brought the holiday, The French-American Friendship Week🇫🇷🇺🇸. (record scratch) Okay, so it’s not a legit holiday cuz it was strictly made up for plot purposes on the show, but the events did happen as Americans and French are allies. History repeats itself so let’s see if our French heroes can ally with the American heroes in this very first Miraculous World trilogy of traveling:

Miraculous World

•New York – United HeroeZ-We start with a big damn intro that Thomas was probably inspired by other movie productions such as the “20th Century Fox” with its spotlights, “Universal” with its globe and even “Disney” with its Enchanted Castle. They even had an orchestra with the “Miraculous Ladybug” theme song playing (they went all out!). With the millions this show made it’s no surprise am I right or am I right!? Huh? Huh? Huh? HUH!? There’s a lot that went on in this special, and I know you’re all informed by it, even with the side stories, but I’m not gonna type all that went on and just put in the Pros and Cons so it can be faster. Let’s go:

Pros:

•The Space Powerups-Meet Cosmobug and Astrocat! Finally! We got to see their space forms and they looked pretty alright. Except they never really went to space and I would’ve preferred they did while battling some alien akuma, but it was still nice to see it. I liked Ladybugs space look best.

•The Native American Miracle Box-The final treat of the special and we see another miracle box and it’s guardian! Our first look is the Eagle miraculous which is a talon necklace that has an eagle like Kwami named Liiri who grants the user the power of liberation (which can be used for both good and evil). This was given to Sparrow who got promoted from sidekick to an independent hero! Congrats Sparrow! Fellow miraculers, I give you, Eagle! (trumpets sound). There was no eagle in the Native American zodiac, but I guess it’s part of the five pack and not the main duo like the Chinese Miracle box with its zodiac. There’s always the basic 12 zodiacs, the five elements and the two most important good/bad luck miraculouses. The guardian for the Native American miracle box was a chief like man who was stern, protective, and serious, but with a sense of understanding as he allowed Sparrow to keep their miraculous and start a new generation of supers with the rest thanks to Uncanny Valley.

•New York Heroes/Villains-Get this folks, Majestia, that superwoman Alya is a huge fan of, is real! Yeah! And Knightowl, Principal Damocles hero, is real too! Yeah! There’s barely any fiction in the Miraculous Universe and all we see, is real! These supers are amazing! There’s other heroes too, such as Snowflake, a snow elemental hero, Hurricane, a weather hero, Doorman, a portal traveler, Victory, a patriotic hero and Hot Dog Dan!? (record scratch). He’s uh, uhhhhhhh, a temporary power bestower through magic hot dogs?.............riiiiiiiiiight (clears throat). They’re enemies are a pirate themed technopath named Techno-Pirate (we already have Captain Hardrock for that, but I guess this is their American equivalent of it, so okay. (mutters under breath disappointedly) Wanted something more unique, but okay). Unlike the French heroes, the United Heroez don’t fall under the cliche of secret alter egos bulls*** and everyone in New York knows who they are (even the villain). I guess it’s cuz they’re mostly composed of courageous and righteous adults whereas Team Miraculous, are a bunch of insecure and awkward teenagers. Whomp! Whomp! Whomp! Not giving teens a bad name! The sidekicks of Majestia and Knightowl are Uncanny Valley, a robot girl, and Sparrow, a gadget wielding/combatant masked hooded youth, respectively. They’re the only ones who have to hide their identities (minus Knightowl for spoilers below) cuz they’re just children, but still badass cuz Aeon (aka Uncanny) figured out who Ladybug and Cat Noir were and reunited them to help save New York and Sparrow earned their wings to fly solo as a real hero.

Cons:

•Mr.Pigeon-(face palms) Hawk Moth, do you seriously want your wife back? Or are you just f**king stupid!? 51 TIMES!? (groans loudly and exasperated) You ARE mad and desperate! I understand it’s a kids show and some would find it funny that he keeps showing up, but older kids (and adults), would not! It’s no wonder we’ll be getting a new Hawk Moth in the future. One that actually creates formidable villains and not constantly recycles their old ones!

•Unnecessary Drama-So the plot said Marinette “convinces” Gabe (he had villainous intentions) to let Adrien go to New York, but Ladybug told Cat Noir to stay in Paris to watch out for any akumatizations while she’s “away”......well, we know that’s gonna be an issue, but there was no need. Adrien thought he had a plan to solve this by using his Akuma Alert app to check up on any danger in Paris and fly back quickly as Astrocat to signal Ladybug with this tiny black cat alarm she left him to come and help. Really? That’s the drama Hawkdaddy put in to spice up the special? Why couldn’t Ladybug just download the same app and use the Horse miraculous, which grants the power of teleportation, and fix the possible emergency herself!? If anything, she didn’t need to tell Cat to do jacks***! I understand the Akuma Alert back in “Riposte” cuz that happened during the show where the Parisians were getting accustomed to these attacks, but now, after what’s been a year already (in-universe), you’d think Marinette/Ladybug would be prepared to have that app like Adrien/Cat Noir, but no! She didn’t! Instead, we get this ridiculous, utterly ridiculous little black cat gadget that’s used for a dumb joke! Did Astruc not remember what he did on the show in the past seasons? Look back on your work, honey! IT’S CALLED RESEARCH! Ugh!

•New York stereotype-Like I mentioned up there with the United Heroez, Hot Dog Dan iiiiiiiiiiiiis not the most useful of supers cuz he sounds too stereotyped what with the setting being in New York where you can find a hot dog vendor (there’s even a hero named Captain Redlight who controls the traffic signal lights!) and he uses his powers for fun. That’s not all! Alya romanticized the theme of New York for Marinette and most of the time, we don’t picture that when we think of The Big Apple. When most Americans think of New York, they think crime, honking traffic jams, (911), big corporate businesses and the whole, “Hey! I’m walking here!”. Guess since this is a kids show, they didn’t wanna plant that idea in their young developing minds and just put in the “fun” aspects of New York! I get it. Don’t poison their heads.

That was our first Miraculous World special people. It was “interesting” and I’m sure you’ll agree with it too. I’m gonna elaborate more on the pros and cons of this and then mention the side stories in it. Now that we’ve seen the Native American miracle box, I think we’ll be seeing the American one next. Possibly in the Brazil special. Wonder how they’ll work with that since we have people and an object for our signs. Hmmmmm. I was real glad to see Sparrow cuz we all thought they’d be a scrapped character from the Quantic Universe, but no! They exist! (this was so much better then Felixs introduction). Mercury was even there too! Wow! We got to see the concept art come to life with members of the Quantic Kids! (wonder if Kid Mime might show up later?). Perhaps the whole United Heroez team is what inspires future Ladybug to create her own future Miraculous Justice League from “Timetagger”! What really surprised me was the LGBT Representation! The reveal that Knightowl was a woman along with Sparrow being a girl and that she (Knightowl) and Majestia are life partners with Aeon and Jess (Sparrow) being their children! For the longest time, we the fans thought Knightowl and Sparrow were male when in fact, they’re female! Nice twist there Astruc! The Knightowl and Sparrow are actually legacy heroes where the sidekick would take over for Knightowl and find a new Sparrow all with regardless of their race/gender/sexual orientation. I like that. What I didn’t like was the whole Mr.Pigeon running gag (it’s actually becoming a literal gag! >:P) there’s gonna be a moment where he’ll get called out on it, wait for that! However, it transitioned from overused creators favorite to super anarchy and nuclear war! What a dramatic climatic change! Like I mentioned, Ladybug didn’t really need to involve Cat in the whole emergency situation, but just to emphasize the trust issues between them and input drama into the special (ignoring the plot holes), Astruc gave us a near death scene with poor Uncanny Valley and thank God she was a robot or Cat would’ve gotten a can of whompa** from Majestia. Knightowl wanted to confiscate the dynamic duos miraculouses, but I don’t think they had any jurisdiction to do so. They’re an American super and they’re Parisian supers. However, since this does take place after Season 3, and Ladybug is now the guardian, it’s her choice whether they should or not and her idea was just for the two to run. This also brought the headscratcher of fans on how Ladybugs powers work? She said her “Miraculous Ladybug” power only works on a specific villain and not all villains (like the sentimonster that was shown during Techlonizers attack). Does her power not bring back the dead (that aren’t robots?), can it only fix a cataclysm power from Cat Noir? (shrugs). Unlike “Syren”, Cat quits for real this time! (for about 5mins) It hurt Marinette/Ladybug thinking she was all alone now. A Yang without her Yin. Not a good sign. What Marinette/Ladybug needs to understand is that Cat has a double life too, she shouldn’t assume it would be a breeze for him to watch Paris by himself and that he might have friends and family he can’t explain why he can’t do this and that and make up insane excuses like she does all the time. This wouldn’t be “Miraculous Ladybug” if we didn’t have shippers trying to make Adrienette happen, Alya tries to get Marinette to confess and Nino tries to get Adrien to open up. They get double ship help from Aeon and Jess, but even with the Americans allied with the French on this, Hawk Moth still co*kblocked it. Course with all the major plots involved, they added in several sub plots just to expand the special and fill the gaps such as Ms.Bustier revealed to be pregnant (who’s the daddy?), Ms.Mendeleiev trying to win over the class, Adriens Bodyguards fear of heights and Sabrinas love interest. The special foreshadowed that Marinette/Ladybugs conflict for Season 4 will be learning to move on (same w/ Adrien/Cat Noir) now that it’s strongly implied that Adrigami and Lukanette are canon. See ya all in 2021!

Deck the Halls With Boughs of Holly

The lack of Christmas decorations was kind of concerning. Betty usually started pulling out her plastic containers from the attic the day after Halloween. The house would be strewn with the various holiday knick-knacks she had accumulated over the years until one day, he would come home from work and it had been transformed into a wonderland.

But this year, there were 3 weeks left until Christmas and there wasn’t a hint of tinsel to be seen. She hadn’t so much as lit a pine-scented candle or had a baking day. She had talked about getting a tree and setting up the custom-made Nativity scene that Nana Rose had given them their first Christmas as a married couple. But then she’d get a call from her boss or a direct message on Twitter from the author whose book she was editing, and she would be distracted again.

Jughead had usually been opposed to her over-decorating. A Charlie Brown tree and a few strands of multicolored lights on the porch would have been enough for him. Of all the years to be in the holiday spirit, it had to be the one where his festive minded wife was the busiest she had ever been.

He supposed in this kind of situation, there was only one thing to do. He was just going to have to decorate himself. The only thing he didn’t know was where or how he was going to begin.

“You should probably hire a decorator,” Veronica told him. “You know, like a professional who knows what they’re doing. If you’re interested, I can give you the name of the person who decorates for me and Archie.”

Jughead frowned. “A professional decorator?” he repeated. “To come and decorate my house for Christmas? You do realize the holidays don’t last long enough to justify paying for someone else to hang up lights and put up a Christmas tree for you, right?” even though he knew it was fruitless to argue with her about her frivolous spending habits.

“I’ll pay for my decorating company to do it!” Veronica exclaimed excitedly. “Anything to make my best girl’s life easier this time of the year!” 

“I am perfectly capable of decorating by myself!” Jughead assured her hastily. “I’ve helped Betty a few times, I’m not completely illiterate when it comes to that stuff.” 

Even though he was, it was Betty’s winter wonderland and he just lived in it.

Veronica sighed. “Fine. But if you change your mind, you know where to find me.”

Jughead was sure that he wasn’t going to need her help though. How hard could getting a house ready for Christmas be? He didn’t think it would be too difficult, Betty made it look so easy.

Except Jughead didn’t know where to begin. He guessed the best place to start was with the tree, but a trip to the Christmas tree lot proved to be confusing. The owner threw so many terms at him like blue spruce and Fraiser furs, his head was spinning.  Betty always picked the most superb trees. He wished he had been paying better attention when she had dragged him along on her quests to pick out their tree. But she had spoken in a language he barely understood and he thought it best suited him to nod and go along with whatever she decided to do.

He finally chose a Douglas fir after the salesman said it would last the longest and made his way home. 

Betty was in her office when he got there. So, he made quick work of unloading and wrestling the tree into the living room. He got it set up in the stand and then pulled out his phone, googling whether or not he should put the lights on first or leave it for after he put the ornaments on. 

Feeling a little overwhelmed, he looked around at the living room. For a second, he contemplated taking Veronica up on her offer to pay for a professional decorator to come in and do it for him. But he dismissed the thought as quickly as it had entered his mind. He could try and put an effort in for his wife. 

She did it every year without help.

He pulled up his Spotify app, put on some Christmas music, and with renewed vigor he attacked the task at hand.

For the next 4 hours, he strung up lights and garland around the whole entire house. He set out Betty’s snowglobe collection, making sure it was out of reach of the twins. He hung the stockings on the mantle, ironed the tree skirt and carefully laid it out around the tree. He put up wreaths, sprayed the windows with snow in a can, and cut holly boughs from the bushes in front of their house. He tied mistletoe over their door and spread out a plaid tablecloth on the table.   

When he was sure it was enough, he kept going because that’s what he had seen Betty do in those situations. Every inch of the house had to be covered in something to do with the holiday season. 

So, he followed a Youtube tutorial and cut snowflakes out of white printer paper and put them all over the house. Finally, he set out the Nativity set from Nana Rose on the counter before going outside to get a head start on decorating the porch before it got too dark. 

He just wanted to make sure he was back inside and everything was lit up before Betty came downstairs for dinner. He was surprised she hadn’t already come down to check on him since they usually spent their afternoons working together. 

A little while later, he ordered takeout for dinner and went around the house, cleaning up the mess he had made and turning on all the lights. He was finished just in the nick of time. He could hear Betty coming down the stairs.

“I have such a headache!” Betty called. “You would think a major author would know how to structure a story properly…” she trailed off. “Juggie! What did you do!?”

“I decorated the house for you,” Jughead answered, glowing with pride a little bit. “Are you surprised?” 

“Jug. . . this is one of the sweetest things you’ve ever done for me!” Betty said, coming over to him. “I-I can’t believe it!”

“Did I do a good job? Is it too much?” Jughead asked anxiously. “I know that decorating the house is usually your area of expertise. It’s just that you’ve been so busy and I know how much you love Christmas, I wanted to do something to help—”

“It’s not too much! You went above and beyond what you had to do!” Betty assured him as she went over to him and planted a kiss on his mouth. “Oh Juggie, I love it! Thank you so much!”

Jughead smiled at her sheepishly. “I did leave some of the tree for you to decorate. . . for later, when you have the time.”

“That sounds like the perfect thing to do tonight,” Betty answered.

It might be a stretch for some DJs to upgrade now if they already own the old app, but it’s more about what’s coming next. There’s a bit more to the story here, which we’re working on crafting an article around. Will the S4 MK3 be supported? What about MK2 versions, which both worked with the original Traktor DJ iOS app? I’m also left wondering about other Kontrol devices beyond the S2 MK3. Remember how there was a whole Dropbox Sync integration that allowed you to prep tracks in Traktor DJ and then keep the beatgrid, cue, and playlist information when you moved it back into the desktop version of the app. What would be nice is if this is also coupled with utility for already-experienced DJs, which was a big part of the original pitch for Traktor DJ back in 2013. A DJ app that allows everybody to mix anywhere.” Not only is it targeted for and included with the Kontrol S2 MK3, but there’s this very clear quote in their press release: The common theme here actually seems to be that Native Instruments views Traktor DJ 2 as a bit of a starter DJ app. Traktor, Simplified? Traktor DJ on desktop Tap the button and the software will remember that you like these two tracks together and show them at the top of the smart track recommendations. “Pair Tracks” button – visible in the screenshots but without a clear explanation from NI in the press release, we suspect this is similar to the Match Tracks button in Rekordbox.The snowflake icon on the left side of the waveforms makes it clear that function is here to stay. Freeze Mode: Don’t worry, the incredible touch-based Freeze slicer that was in the original Traktor DJ hasn’t gone anywhere.“ entirely new code base” – this is important not only because of the cross-platform support, but also because it made it easier to implement the new UI design and simplify future development.Interesting that we are seeing this in Traktor DJ 2 and not in Traktor Pro 3… If you’ve got a GO+ account, you can load in any track from Soundcloud and it will work just like a normal song in your library. SoundCloud GO+ Library – a “never-ending record collection” in the form of SoundCloud’s entire library.No indication that there’s any new element to this feature in this new launch. “ smart track recommendations” – this was a prominent feature that the original Traktor DJ app had – being able to recommend tracks using metadata based on the playing track.We suspect there might be other performance pad modes, but they are not visible in any of the screenshots. Platters and Performance Pad modes: The new UI has onscreen platters and 8 buttons for cues, loops, etc.

It’s a simpler interface than Traktor Pro 3, and honestly it doesn’t differ that much in functional appearance than the original Traktor DJ. NI hasn’t released a completed feature set of the new app, which will be released sometime this spring, but we can tell a fair amounts about the app by the screenshots that they’ve sent over.

Sadly, no mention of Android device support. Worth noting, unlike the original Traktor DJ app, this one is designed with a new code base that enables cross-platform support on iOS, Windows, and Mac devices.

Traktor DJ 2: A Whole New Codebase Traktor DJ 2 (click to zoom) Details are a bit sparse in the official press release, but we’ll share everything we know in the article below, and we’ll be doing live coverage of new app later today on our Facebook page. The news is that Traktor DJ 2 is here – the follow-up to the powerful iOS app that was first announced at NAMM 2013. It’s not even dawn here in Anaheim, but Native Instruments wants to be sure that their news dominates on the first day of NAMM.

What’s the point of AI if it doesn’t actually make your workday easier?

That’s the question I keep coming back to – and the one that ultimately brought me into the generative AI space. 

I’m Ryan Priem, and I lead sales for Glean here in the East. After more than two decades in tech, working in data and analytics at places like Snowflake and EMC, I saw something shift. Large language models weren’t just impressive – they were starting to offer real, measurable value.

But there’s a catch: value doesn’t come from the model alone. It comes from how well you apply it.

What work AI systems actually do (and why they matter now)

Oracle announces MySQL HeatWave on AWS

Oracle announced that MySQL HeatWave is available on Amazon Web Services (AWS). MySQL HeatWave is the only service that combines OLTP, analytics, machine learning, and machine learning-based automation within a single MySQL database. AWS users can now run transaction processing, analytics, and machine learning workloads in one service, without requiring time-consuming ETL duplication between separate databases such as Amazon Aurora for transaction processing and Amazon Redshift or Snowflake on AWS for analytics and SageMaker for machine learning. P Saravanan, Vice-President, Cloud Engineering, Oracle India, said, "At Oracle, we have always proceeded with a vision of being a customer-centric organization and the availability of MySQL HeatWave on AWS is in continuation to the very same commitment. In India, MySQL has been a critical element in the digitization journey of many of the organizations be it Startups, Digital Native, Enterprise & Public Sector. We were keen to expand the horizon and facilitate faster innovation for the country. Now, with users of AWS being able to leverage the various benefits of MySQL, all the capabilities of MySQL HeatWave are delivered natively on AWS, so such data transfers and associated high egress fees will no longer be necessary. For users with AWS applications using non-HeatWave implementations of MySQL, they can now upgrade to MySQL HeatWave, without needing to change a single line of code. We are sure that it will pave a way towards an exceptional customer experience. Also, a key part of Oracle's approach towards customer centricity is ensuring superior cloud economics. We are addressing these issues while delivering outstanding performance and price performance across transaction, analytics, and machine learning compared to other database cloud providers—even Amazon's own databases running on AWS, where you'd think they would have an advantage. We wanted to offer AWS customers this choice to benefit from MySQL HeatWave innovation without moving their data from AWS, or developers needing to learn a new platform." As part of today's news, Oracle is also introducing several new capabilities and benchmarks for MySQL HeatWave on AWS. Unmatched performance and price performance: MySQL HeatWave on AWS is optimized for AWS with a superior architecture that delivers higher performance and lower cost compared to competitive offerings, as demonstrated by industry standard benchmarks. On the 4TB TPC-H* benchmark, MySQL HeatWave on AWS delivers price performance that is 7X better than Amazon Redshift, 10X better than Snowflake, 12X better than Google BigQuery, and 4X better than Azure Synapse. For machine learning, MySQL HeatWave on AWS is 25X faster than Redshift ML. On a 10GB TPC-C* workload, MySQL HeatWave offers up to 10X higher and sustained throughput compared to Amazon Aurora at high concurrency. All of these fully transparent benchmark scripts are available on GitHub for customers to replicate. Native AWS experience: MySQL HeatWave on AWS delivers a true native experience for AWS customers through millisecond-level latencies for applications and a rich interactive console. It facilitates schema and data management, and executes queries interactively from the console. Users can monitor the performance of their queries and monitor the utilization of the provisioned resources. MySQL Autopilot is also integrated with the interactive console, making it easier to use. Advanced security features: MySQL HeatWave service now offers several comprehensive security features which provide additional differentiation with Amazon Aurora. These include server-side data masking and de-identification, asymmetric data encryption, and a database firewall. Asymmetric data encryption enables developers and DBAs to increase the protection of confidential data and implement digital signatures to confirm the identity of people signing documents. Database firewall provides real-time protection against database-specific attacks, such as SQL Injections. These features are designed to provide best in class security for database users and provide a contrast with Aurora, where security methods are layered on top of the database. MySQL Autopilot: Autopilot provides workload-aware, machine learning-based automation of various aspects of the application lifecycle, including provisioning, data management, query execution, and failure handling. Autopilot features include auto provisioning, auto parallel loading, auto encoding, auto data placement, auto scheduling, auto query plan improvement, auto change propagation, and auto error handling. Combined, these features improve performance of the application, reduce cost by predicting the optimal configuration to run a workload, and reduce manual database administration. Today, Oracle is introducing additional Autopilot capabilities designed for OLTP workloads which further improve MySQL HeatWave price performance compared to Amazon Aurora. Auto thread pooling provides higher and sustained throughput at high concurrency by determining the optimal number of transactions which should be executed. Auto shape prediction determines the optimal shape which should be provisioned to provide the best price performance for OLTP workloads. In a running system, the recommendation could be to continue using the existing shape, to upgrade to a larger shape for better performance or to downgrade to a smaller shape to reduce costs—whichever shape provides the best price performance. Machine Learning: HeatWave ML provides in-database machine learning capabilities, including training, inference, and explanations. This enables customers to securely use machine learning on real-time data without the complexity, latency, and cost of ETL. HeatWave ML fully automates the ML lifecycle and stores all trained models inside the MySQL database, eliminating the need to move them to a separate machine learning tool or service. It's available at no additional charge for MySQL HeatWave customers. No other cloud database vendor or open source database provides such advanced ML capabilities inside the database. On average, HeatWave ML trains models 25 times faster than Redshift ML and scales with the cluster size. MySQL HeatWave customers can now train models more often and keep them updated for increased prediction accuracy. Ready for the Distributed Cloud MySQL HeatWave is available in multiple clouds today, including OCI, AWS, and Microsoft Azure in the near future. It's available on-premises as part of Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer for organizations that cannot move their database workloads to the public cloud. Customers can also replicate data from their on-premises MySQL OLTP applications to MySQL HeatWave on AWS or OCI to obtain near real-time analytics. MySQL HeatWave is always running the latest version of the MySQL database which is not the case for many of the other MySQL based services. "While AWS offers a smorgasbord of cloud database services specialized for each data type and capability, MySQL HeatWave on AWS follows Oracle's converged database strategy—offering transaction, analytics, ML, and Autopilot automation all in one. For AWS users, this means no charges for add-on services, extra storage, data egress fees, connectors, and more. For cost conscious IT teams and developers, MySQL HeatWave on AWS represents a whole new TCO calculation with zero cost for what are add-on services on AWS and no data egress fees," said Marc Staimer, senior analyst, Wikibon. "And just as Usain Bolt left all of his competitors in the dust and set new world records that have yet to be broken, the latest price performance benchmark results demonstrate that MySQL HeatWave on AWS is 7X better than Amazon Redshift. There is a fine line between having fun and recklessness. Antonia had always been into concerts, she’d go to all her favourite artists when they visited her city. RnB and rap, those were her favourite genres, but she had always wanted to get into EDM so she could experience the life of a raver, experience e- love, and experience the effects of molly in such an environment. Taking a spontaneous trip to a new city with her best friend Kitty to visit some long distance friends that they had met during their semester abroad in Taiwan, they made a pact to have the most unforgettable trip ever. On the sixth and last night of their time in the city of angels, they decided to attend a rave. Since no one in their group was a long- time native of the city, acquiring Molly was a challenge. Exhausting all their possible connections, they turned to dating apps. Kitty, Charlotte, and Bimi, all hit dead ends, however, Antonia ended up meeting someone she was actually able to hold a conversation with, Justin. A med student studying at John Hopkins; she was impressed. 

Being all reckless beings, with no sense of time or responsibility, the group was naturally very late in arriving at the venue. What were they doing? Getting ready and getting plastered. Since there were hallucinogens to be acquired, they had to get stimulation from the only legal source: alcohol. The group of four downed a liter of smirnoff vodka, chased with white claw sodas, and off they went in their Uber. On arrival, it was clear that they were ready for a good time, even the security guards turned a blind eye to their public drinking before entering. With alcohol in their system, and nicotine in their lungs, Antonia and her friends were on cloud nine; happy and dizzy. With so many electronic vape pens being passed around in the crowd, Antonia suddenly found herself smoking a joint. Surprised at the sudden change in flavor and stimulation, Antonia reached for what seemed like another electronic vape, but turned out to be, in fact, a dab pen. Now triple- crossed and under three different types of substances, it felt as though her entire world was colliding around her. She turned around, there was Justin, who had made his way through the large crowd to find her. He grabbed her face, and they kissed passionately in front of the stage lights. In the warmth of his embrace, Antonia looked to her left to see her friends breathing snowflakes off of a stranger’s pinky. She knew that she had to get in on that. Three different pinkies, dipped into the same bag, Antonia breathed as hard as she could, up her nose. Suddenly, the dizziness stopped, and the lights became brighter. It felt as though she ascended up into the sky along with the fireworks. The nausea she was about to feel from the copious amounts of alcohol consumed, the excruciating buzz from an excess of marijuana, and the lightheadedness from the nicotine would have probably knocked her out eventually, but the snow gave her life again.
