Strategic Advantage and Market Opportunities for Sorby Hills and Adjacent Projects
The Sorby Hills Lead-Silver-Zinc Project is recognized as one of the most cost-effective lead producers worldwide, ranking in the top 25% (1st quartile) of the Global Lead Cost Curve in 2023. While its profit margins are influenced by fluctuations in silver prices, a rise in silver values is expected to drive substantial earnings growth, even if lead prices remain stable.

BUFFY REWATCH - S06E01/E02 - Bargaining Part 1 & 2
*Episode opens on feet running through the graveyard. It’s night. We see a very large (both tall and chubby) vampire running steadily between the headstones. Then we see Spike running after him. Then we see Tara running after them, and Giles behind her, carrying an axe. They come up to a fence and the vampire is gone. Spike yells in frustration*
SPIKE: “COME ON! I'm never gonna get anything killed with you lot holding me back.”
TARA:
*Panting*
“I thought the... big ones were supposed to... tire more easily.”
SPIKE: “No, that's over-the-hill shopkeepers.”
GILES:
*Leaning against a gravestone, panting*
“I'm fine. I just need to... to die for a minute.”
SPIKE:
*To Tara*
“It was that powder you blew at him made him rabbit off.”
TARA: “It's sorbis root, it was supposed to confuse him, but... it just kinda made him peppy.
*Spike rolls his eyes*
It's not supposed to mix with anything, you think he might be taking prescription medication?”
SPIKE:
*Sarcastic*
“Yeah, that must be it.”
GILES: “Good god, I hope he doesn't try to operate heavy machinery.”
*Giles and Spike laugh*
SPIKE: “Yeah, we could all be in real-”
WILLOW:
*Telepathically*
“Guys, heads up.
*They all look up. Cut to a large crypt. Zoom up and we see Willow standing on top of it. Zoom in on her*
The vampire's circling back towards you, six o'clock.
*Cut back to the other three looking around for the vamp*
Try to drive him back towards the Van Elton crypt.”
SPIKE: “Van Elton?”
TARA: “Is that the one with the cute little gargoyles?”
*The vampire runs back across their field of vision, sees them, turns and starts back the way he came*
WILLOW:
*Telepathically*
“Left, make him go left!”
*Giles throws his axe. It thuds into a tree right by the vampire's face. The vamp turns and heads left. Tara and Spike look at Giles, then they all run after the vampire. The vampire winds up at a dead-end, turns to go back. Suddenly a fist comes out and punches him in the face. He falls down. A pair of feet walk over and stand by the prone vampire's feet. He stares up at the person. Pan up to reveal Buffybot*
BUFFYBOT: “Big, fast, and dumb. Just the way I like 'em.”
*The vampire sits up and she kicks him in the face, thrusts out with her stake, but he grabs her arm, hits her with his other arm, and gets up. Tara and Giles appear, grab the vamp's arms and hold him while Spike punches him in the face twice. Then Spike moves for another punch but the vampire head-butts Spike and he staggers back. Cut to Xander and Anya running through another part of the graveyard*
XANDER: “Sounds like the other units are engaged.”
WILLOW:
*Telepathically*
“Xander, Anya, stop!”
*Xander and Anya stop running, look startled*
XANDER: “Great googly-moogly, Willow, would you quit doing that?”
WILLOW:
*Telepathically*
“I told you I was going to get the lay of the land.”
XANDER: “But not the lay of my brain.”
ANYA: “It's kind of intrusive. You could knock first or something.”
WILLOW:
*Telepathically*
“Xander-”
XANDER: “I know, I know, I don't have to talk when I answer you. But I saw ‘The Fury’, and that way lies spooky carnival death.”
*We see a vampire hiding behind a tombstone a few feet away from Xander and Anya*
WILLOW:
*Telepathically*
“Xander! Vampire! Other side of that tomb. You can get the jump on him if you go the other way.”
XANDER: “Why didn't you just say so?”
*Xander and Anya head around the side of the tomb. Cut back to the other battle. The big vampire throws both Tara and Giles off him. Buffybot runs at him, tries to punch but he blocks, picks her up over his shoulders, swings her around so that her feet kick Spike in the face. Then he throws her toward Tara*
WILLOW:
*Telepathically*
“Tara, down!”
*Tara ducks and Buffybot goes flying over her, lands against a wall. Giles grabs the axe, gets up and swings at the vampire, who grabs it and spins Giles around, pins him against the iron fence with the axe handle on his throat*
GILES:
*Choking*
“Spike!
*Spike jumps on the vamp's back but he's so big he barely notices. He shrugs Spike off a couple of times. Spike steps back, sighs*
Spike!”
WILLOW:
*Telepathically*
“What are you doing? Help him!”
SPIKE:
*Lighting a cigarette*
“I did.”
*We see that the back of the vampire's shirt is on fire. The fire spreads up to the rest of his shirt. He lets go of Giles and staggers back, bursts completely into flame and dusts. Giles puts his arm over his face as the dust showers over him. Spike takes a drag on his cigarette, saunters over to Giles and holds out his hand. Giles takes it and Spike helps him up*
GILES: “You might have let me in on your plan while he throttled me.”
SPIKE: “Oh, poor Watcher. Did your life pass before your eyes? Cuppa tea, cuppa tea, almost got shagged, cuppa tea?”
WILLOW:
*Telepathically*
“Guys, help Xander and Anya over by the Anderson tomb.”
*They head off. Cut to Xander being held in a headlock by the other vampire*
ANYA: “Xander!”
*Anya lunges with a stake but the vamp merely steps aside. She swings again, misses. The vamp hits her and she falls down. The vampire continues growling and struggling with Xander*
BUFFYBOT: “I got it!
*Buffybot kicks the vampire, and he goes down, letting go of Xander who lands on the grass beside Anya. The vamp gets up, blocks a kick, punches Buffybot, they exchange a few more punches and kicks. He gets her on the ground, picks her up over his head, and Spike comes in and punches him in the stomach. The vampire drops Buffybot, and Spike kicks him. He shoves Spike away, and Spike lands beside Xander and Anya. Buffybot kicks the vamp onto the ground, then stakes him as he starts to sit up*
That'll put marzipan in your pie plate, bingo!”
*Shot of the entire Scooby Gang (Spike, Tara, Xander, Anya, Willow, Giles) staring at her as they help each other up. She smiles and walks over to them*
SPIKE:
*To Willow*
“What's with the Dadaism, Red?”
TARA: “Yeah, she says that pie thing every time she stakes a vamp now.”
WILLOW: “I-I don't know, I was trying to program in some new puns and I kinda ended up with word salad.”
BUFFYBOT: “I think it's funny.”
*They all roll their eyes and start walking*
WILLOW: “It's a glitch, I'll fix it.”
GILES: “We just can't have her messing up in front of the wrong person. Or the wrong thing. We, we need the, the world and the underworld to believe that Buffy is alive and well.”
WILLOW: “And I will therefore fix it. I got her head back on, didn't I? And I got her off those knock-knock jokes.”
BUFFYBOT: “Ooh, who's there?”
XANDER: “You know, if we want her to be exactly-”
SPIKE: “She'll never be exactly.”
XANDER: “I know.”
TARA: “The only really real Buffy is really Buffy.”
GILES: “And she's gone.”
*They all walk on, leaving Buffybot behind as she has stopped walking*
BUFFYBOT: “'If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?”
*She walks after them*
In the wake of Buffy’s death, the Scoobies have made arrangements for their lives to play out without her. This includes: taking over patrolling and staking vampires whenever they rise in the Sunnydale graveyard; Willow and Tara moving themselves into the Summers household to become guardians of Dawn, the only Summers family member left; fixing up Buffybot to perform like ‘The Slayer’ as a stand-in for the real Buffy so no one else but them knows that she’s dead. It’s not exactly a functional system, but it’s getting them by for the meantime. They ultimately know that they need the real Buffy Summers, so they (and by ‘they’, I mostly mean Willow because everybody else is apprehensive of going through with it - as they should be) have a plan to bring the real Buffy back to life. In resurrecting Buffy they have a few things to consider: who amongst them should and shouldn’t know, to which they’ve decided is Dawn, Giles and Spike, lest they don’t understand and try to stop the event of Buffy’s resurrection from happening. Of course, none of this would even be possible without Willow’s forever-evolving magical powers and rather advanced computer technology engineering skills  She’s the leader of the Scooby Gang now. By unanimous vote and - let’s be honest - the fact that she’s the only competent one among them who can or should lead, as she’s done it before. Several times, in fact, just not to this degree. But that’s certainly not without it’s consequences.
Willow’s magical powers have clearly gone to her head - evidenced by the fact she never really stops using them, (as proven in this scene alone with her telepathically communicating with everyone, which is intimidating to say the least), and that she’s arrogantly confident in her Wiccan abilities enough to do the impossible: perform a mystical ritual to resurrect Buffy. She achieves it. Of course she does - because she’s the most powerful Scooby member of all the Gang. So it goes without saying that she’s running the whole operation whether the rest of them like it or not. That being said... pretty much everything that happens in the 2-part starter to Season 6 are the result of Willow being an extremely powerful witch and computer technology genius. This includes: resurrecting Buffy, programming Buffybot to perform not-exactly like-but close-enough-to the real Buffy, planning and executing patrol sessions, killing innocent creatures and using their blood for her spell ingredients (I believe this was supposed to be Shamanism - could be wrong), and just all around being a bad ass who possesses the power and control to do anything she wants. Risks and consequences be damned. It is the most frightening side of the character that we have seen yet, and it doesn’t get any less frightening as the episodes go on.
The evolution of Willow Rosenberg is immense. From the good-natured girl we know from the very beginning of the show to the ill-natured girl we see now. A lot has definetly changed and - as a lover of art/entertainment that educates me - it’s very exciting to watch. I LOVE that Willow gets a power corruption arc!

A McDonald’s Employee Reported Unsanitary Conditions. Her Coworkers Retaliated With Harassment.
Tumblr media
Sorbis/Shutterstock
Nakeyla Hills told regional managers about black mold in the ice machines and the unsafe behavior of her colleagues. Afterward, she says coworkers retaliated by groping her and calling her the N-word.
McDonald’s is facing a lawsuit alleging that at one of its New Jersey locations, conditions were so unsanitary that an employee was prompted to make multiple reports. But rather than taking steps to make the conditions safer for customers and employees, the legal complaint says, the employee was retaliated against and severely harassed.
Nakeyla Hills was hired by a McDonald’s in Farmingdale at the start of 2018 as a clerk, which meant she had a number of roles — running the cash register, taking orders, cooking food, and working the drive-thru. Almost immediately after she started working, however, she says that she started seeing what seemed like unsafe and unsanitary conditions in the restaurant.
The company and the franchisee didn’t respond to requests for comment.
In her complaint, Hills alleges that she saw coworkers and managers serve food to customers that had been on the floor, that they had thrown on the ceiling and walls, and that they had rubbed on themselves. She also claims employees refused to wash their hands after using the bathroom, touching themselves, or sneezing, and that they sat on fresh beef before it was cooked. She further alleges they didn’t clean out the black mold accumulating in the ice machine, and on top of that put cleaning products in the ice machine, and food products like bacon and pickles in soap dispensers.
A number of people took part in these antics. It was “endemic to the workplace,” her attorney, Michael Willemin, a partner at law firm Wigdor LLP, said.
Some of the incidents put Hills in physical danger she claims. At one point she alleges that her coworkers intentionally failed to turn off the machine that made hot tea, which then shot out hot water and severely burned her. In another alleged incident, one of her coworkers placed an entire stick of butter in the toaster as a joke; when it was turned on later that evening, it set off a large fire. When Hills told a coworker to use the fire extinguisher and escorted everyone else out of the building, she alleges that the one who had put the butter in the toaster in the first place screamed at her, “I’ll kill you, n[-word]!”
Even her manager didn’t wash her hands, Hills claims. So she took it upon herself to say something, complaining about the conditions to a regional manager and making multiple reports to higher ups that included pictures. “She felt very strongly that she couldn’t stay silent when these unsanitary conditions were ongoing,” Willemin said. “It impacted people — customers who were eating food at McDonald’s. So certainly she felt that she needed to speak up about that.” But although she felt compelled to try to do something, it wasn’t easy. “It was absolutely difficult to speak up,” he said.
Even though the regional manager praised her for coming forward, nothing happened to remedy the situation. “McDonald’s was completely apathetic to the concerns that Ms. Hills was observing,” Willemin said.
Instead, Hills claims that she faced retaliation for trying to fix the problem. Her managers and coworkers allegedly began regularly calling her a “bitch” at work, while the brother of the man who set the toaster fire began calling her the n-word. Coworkers also allegedly called her a “psycho” and “crazy.”
She also alleges that as all of this was going on, one day a male coworker reached into her shirt pocket and groped her breast. When she told him not to touch her, her complaint says he responded by calling her a “bitch” and a “psycho.”
She again found the courage to speak up, reporting her harassment to managers. “She did feel really strongly that no person should be forced to be treated in that way,” Willemin said. “It was the only option she had.” But when she complained about the abuse to her managers, she was told to “not care” about what others said and to be less “aggressive” when making complaints.
Hills developed anxiety and depression. The anxiety led to hives, and she felt physically ill on her way into work every day. She was eventually forced to resign.
What Hills says she went through predates the coronavirus pandemic, but McDonald’s workers have protested unsafe working conditions both before and after the current crisis. Last year they filed a complaint with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration as well as a lawsuit alleging that the company has failed to protect employees from violence at the hands of customers, an issue they have also staged strikes over. Since the pandemic exploded across the country this year, they’ve staged a series of strikes to protest what they say has been a lack of protection for their health, and some in Oakland, California filed a public health complaint.
Scores of employees have also come forward and said they were sexually harassed in McDonald’s restaurants. They’ve filed a series of lawsuits over the last four years and staged the country’s first-ever national strike to protest the abuse. A recent survey found that three-quarters of employees say they’ve experienced sexual harassment while at work.
In response McDonald’s has created a new sexual harassment training and changed its policies, although employees say the changes still don’t go far enough. It also says that it’s distributed ample personal protection equipment, including gloves and masks, and installed protective barriers, although employees joined a massive nationwide strike in July to demand better protection and pay.
The toll of the experience still lingers with Hills, however. “It continues to have a significant impact on her mental health and ability to even go about her day,” Willemin said. She has tried to find work since she left McDonald’s but hasn’t had much success. “It’s very difficult for her at this point to even live what we would consider what would be a normal life.”

“One man’s home is another man’s journey”
Thursday, 6th October
So, writing that essay turned out to be not so bad after all. It is possible that I cooked up entire bullshit, but I finished it already on Tuesday, after I had wasted some time on YouTube and just wanted to start writing at least the first sentence. Within one or two hours I had written it all – now I have to delete some stuff in order to hand in just the wanted 800 words. Sadly, they are rather strict about that saying, that we should learn how to formulate short and crisp (which seems to be the translation of “kurz und knackig” ^^).
Other than that, nothing much is happening in my life that I could write about. I went to Medieval with Lou on Saturday, as I said in my last post, and we had a great time. Uni is still good and interesting, I went to a free lecture about Dark Tourism at battle fields and such by a professor from Canada, I still go to the language Café on Tuesdays and to Yoga class on Wednesdays, but is that really interesting to read about when I can’t actually take you with me to life through the experiences and conversations? Probably not.
The exciting part, in the sense of something new every day, is over, I guess. I really have arrived, and I am living my life here now.
I even managed to solve the problems I complained about last time. I found a supermarket that suits my need and might be cooking a bit more creative than before. I hope this will continue not just for my time here but also for when I am back home. Same with my daily Yoga practise. It’s weird getting up at a certain set time when you have nowhere to go before noon. This kind motivation, first exercise and then good food, really helps. Studying History (and Philosophy for that matter) doesn’t require a lot of presence in University itself. It is mostly consisting in researching and reading at home, and you don’t need to wear jeans for that, so I mostly hung out in my sweatpants for most of the last three years; I do it here as well. Having only so many square meters makes it tempting to sit on the bed all day, but I do make it my goal to work sitting at my desk, so I don’t end up spending my entire day in bed.
Talking about being stuck in bed, I got the new book by Hank Green (is that advertising now?) sent directly to me here, and I force myself to put it away out of fear, that I otherwise would finish it whole within four hours or something.
I have been reading rather a lot here, mainly because I read while I eat. A friend told me it was complicated to buy books in second-hand shops because you never know what you will find – but that is exactly what I love about it! Going into book shops you are directed to bestsellers and the like, getting hints about what book will be the best, but in a second-hand shop you know all these books were given away. Something about them must have caused someone to give them up. They are unsorted, randomly standing in a shelve and you just grab something, anything really, and it can either turn out to be disappointing or the best thing ever!
I found an incredible writer just grabbing a book randomly (would I otherwise be writing about this?). I picked this book because it is called the “plague book” by S. D. Sykes (again, is this advertisement?) and I had to write my essay on the impact of the plague in the 14th century and this book was basically a crime novel in that period. And it was really gripping. The crime was solved several times and even though you were each time convinced, this had now been the final answer, it always turned out to be a misjudgement; and damn, it had such a clever solution.
So, that is the reason why I still don’t have a library card. If I don’t get one soon I will end up filling the entire shelve above my bed with books I can’t take with me.
 Sunday, 7th October:
So, I wrote the above in the evening and spent the next hours talking to my friend (you know her as Joy) on skype and was too unsure about what I wrote to upload it afterwards. On Friday I was engaged with Uni stuff and on Saturday I was otherwise engaged; so, let me tell you about that in this post as well.
The Medieval Society goes to several events in the year and simply because of the weather most of them tend to be in the summer. They involve doing crafts, fighting and sleeping over; best in authentic clothing and with authentic utensils. But this weekend there was a happening at Sorbie Tower (which is in the west coast near the English boarder) because there is a plan to rebuild this tower and our society could do the work. The event started on Friday and went until Saturday, but because Scotland has not yet changed me entirely I didn’t want to spend the night with strangers in a tent in the freezing cold. I asked whether it might be possible to come for only Saturday and it turned out that several guys from the society wanted to do that as well. I have never been to any kind of medieval event, so naturally I couldn’t turn away from that possibility.
I met up with the other guys at the central station at eight o’clock in the morning. I thought about not doing my yoga practise, but decided against it, because I was doing so good with my unlimited morning challenge. That was why I got up at six in the morning and did some Yoga, had a delicious breakfast and then walked full of energy to the train station. Taking the train always makes me sleepy though, so I closed my eyes for a while and might have slept for half an hour on the train. Normally I don’t feel save enough to do it, but since the others did it as well it seemed fine. I dozed, I guess, and kind of started writing a poem in my head, and managed to not forget it, so now I started this weird poem about my life that is already more than 18 stanzas long and still not finished. Anyway, we then played some cards and first I lost and got to be “Dumdum”, which is the most amazing word. But then I managed – against all my expectations – to be vice president!
We arrived at Dumfries at about half ten and then learned, that the people picking us up there had to drive an hour and a half from Sorbie Tower to get us. We drove two hours to this tower and honestly, had I known this before, I might have not wanted to go. I felt like a nuisance, but I didn’t spend my time in the car apologising because I didn’t know what to say after I did it twice already. Instead I continued writing my long poem.
We arrived at near to one at this wonderful tower, and honestly, I had expected something grander. I had expected an event that was an actual event, but really it was mostly Strathclyde people that did some crafts and fighting in a different location than normally. But it was fun!
We explore the woods first; and we behaved like children climbing fallen trees. We took some pictures wielding swords as well and had a blast.
We also got to go into the tower, which was pretty much destroyed, but you could still see where the staircase and fireplaces once were. And I could really imagine how it might look like if it got rebuild. So, the leader of the society had this project to rebuild this tower with authentic tools in store for us; I guess that was why we were there. Obviously, I won’t be able to do that, since I’ll leave in December, but it sounds really cool to restore a medieval building that way.
We also did some fighting; or better to say some attacking and defending. Five people got bows and were to defend the hill and the rest got shields and had to advance while being attacked. I was lucky and got a rather big shield. It was extremely heavy, but it protected me so well that no arrow hit me (I should add here, that like the swords, the arrows were completely blunted or better to say had no tip, so they couldn’t penetrate the skin or something. But I still heard from the ones that were hit, that it did hurt anyway). For four rounds I crept along the ground hiding behind my shield. When an arrow hit it square I could feel the strength behind it and was extremely grateful for my protection. As a shooter I sucked. Before this game I had shot exactly three arrows, so I had like no practise whatsoever. I took ages reloading and aiming was another thing entirely. But it was still fun.
Afterwards I got to shoot some more at a non-moving target being able to take all the time I want. I was vividly reminded of all the movies I had watched.
Someone later showed us how to make a spoon out of a piece of wood using an axe and I got to hack at this piece of wood as well.
So, all in all it was an amazing experience.
For the way back, we were taken by a couple that went to Glasgow anyway. I had a ticket for the train, but there weren’t enough cars to get us to Dumfries and since that couple was going to the city anyway they took us with them. We drove for three and a half hours I think.
I am a rather chatty person, so in the car I kept talking, but I had nothing really to say and the other two guys from medieval that were in the car with me were rather quiet people, so it was a bit awkward at time, but the couple was nice and addressed everyone equally, being interested in who we were and what our interest in living history was. They were so kind and dropped me off just some meters away from my home in the end.
I cooked myself some food when I got home because of all the excitement I hadn’t actually eaten anything during the day. After I was fed and tired I got a text from a friend from Uni telling me that the footnotes count in our essays as well; do I need to mention that this information freaked me out?
I had, on Friday, realized that I wanted to restructure my essay entirely, so I had done just that, ending at 845 words, just five words short of the allowed maximum. I had sent this stuff to my friend to prove read it feeling like everything would totally work out the way I wanted it.
And then suddenly there was this sentence: “Please remember that footnotes are included in the total word count for your coursework, but bibliography and appendices are excluded.”
I don’t want to sound too much like a completely douche, but this thing nearly made me pull my hair out. Turns out 845 words require near to 100 words of footnotes, so I suddenly had to erase 100 words from my essay. I cut mainly my introduction and my conclusion, and I do hope now that my friend will not tell me it ruined everything after he prove read it.
But like, seriously! Am I really supposed to count my footnotes into the word count in my longer essays as well? In 2000-word essays that would leave me with like 1500 actually words for my argumentation… well 1200 if you exclude the introduction and conclusion. I guess I will have to freak out a bit in the next three weeks. You read my blog post: you know I can’t keep stuff short.
Anyway, this is nothing too exciting I guess, but it does dictate my life at the moment.
Being really tired, I still had to look up some places to eat pancakes for breakfast yesterday, because it is my Czech friend’s birthday today (she by the way decided on the name Estelle).
I got up early again, but I was rewarded with maybe the best waffles ever. Estelle and I went to this American styled place where they gave us lots of maple syrup and served their waffles with banana and Nutella. They were absolutely amazing!
We went to church afterwards and the nice people there made me come to lunch as well, so I had a lot of food today! And since today there was a special occasion, I got to wear my newly bought, kind of Scottish styled skirt that I found in a second-hand shop. I am so excited about this piece of clothing, it is a bit crazy.
I guess, I’m gonna end the post on this happy note. Soon enough I will have to think about my essay again. Let’s hope my friend won’t tell me I screwed up erasing the important bits.
