The Lesser false vampire bat (Megaderma spasma) is a bat found in South Asia and Southeast Asia, extending from Sri Lanka and India, to Indonesia and the Philippines. Its fur color ranges from pale gray to grey-brown or blue-brown. It has very large ears that are joined at the base, and are very sensitive to echoes returning from their pulses, as well as to sounds produced by prey.

This species has a wingspan of up to 30 cm (12 in) and a head-and-body length of around 10 cm (3.9 in). Running through its wings are yellowish veins, and when light is shined from behind the stretched out wings, they create a visible yellow/orange tinge.

Putin is an insane right wing despot hellbent on keeping his powers intact via fake elections and expanding his territory. It sounds like you see smaller states as merely pawns to be played with by bigger powers like USA and Russia and China to expand their spheres of influence and not actually independent entities. And that if any sovereign democratic state chooses to join any alliance of their interest they are merely being played with by the opposite power and therefore the solution is for a full scale invasion to force a regime change. The unrest in Donbas and Luhansk is the result of Putin's war through proxy like any other typical state sponsor of terror and not of Ukraine defending its own territory. Stop shilling for Putin and maybe call up Kremlin to see if you can get a paycheck for doing their propaganda for free.

Apeface here is part of the final wave of the Siege line, and this is not character most people were expecting to ever see again (aside from his Titans Return Titan class figure)...but then again Skytread (Flywheels) made a return in Siege, and BattleTrap for Power of the Primes, so Hasbro’s definitely squeezing in some of the more obscure guys. I am not complaining. Though I don’t have any real attachment to Apeface, and never had the original, so this guy piqued my interests.

Apeface is an unusual type of Decepticon; he was one of only two Horrorcons, which were triple changing headmasters.

Titanmaster:

Spasma is Apeface’s Titanmaster (I’m pretty sure Hasbro’s abandoned the whole Binary Bonded organic partner thing) but screw it; I’m a filthy ‘GeeeWuunner’ And this guy is Spasma. Deal with it.

So the Spasma which came with the Siege toy is a completely different Titanmaster from his Titans Return version.

Much of the engineering is similar, but the sculpting is better, and Spasma is painted unlike is unpainted predecessor.

Getting the Titanmaster to stand however can be a bit tricky; there are some balancing issues.

Robot Mode:

Aprefaces robot mode is a broad-chested bouncer bot of a goon. Apeface isn’t one of the leading Decepticons, he’s an over glorified grunt, but he’s a big grunt.

He’s got an interesting color pallet of purple, hot pink, black, and...milky white; yea that’s kind of odd. And I’m not entirely sure that it fully works for me.

Regardless the robot itself is a solid piece of plastic, and he poses well ad is covered with 5mm ports.

If you look at Apeface from the back he’s got all this nonsense and kibble hanging off of him, but that is kind of norm for a lot of Transformers, and he isn’t trying to be cool, or anything.

I am a little disappointed with Apefaces chest however. In many of the of the old G1 Headmasters, the chest panel would open up to reveal there stats once the headmaster docked onto the shoulders. The chest panel is represented here on the bot mode, however it’s sculpted detail, and doesn’t open up.

It would have been nice to have that feature here, but it’s not a hill I’m going to die on...

Thanks to the Titan Returns toyline Apeface has the unique privilege of having two different robot head (but only one works for the beast mode).

Accessories:

Aside from the Spasma titanmaster, Apeface comes with a black, unpainted black blaster and a pink shield (with a little bit of black paint) which doubles as the rear maneuvering veins of the jet mode.

Apeface holds both pretty well; the blaster does have blast effects, and the shield can go into any 5mm port.

Jet Mode:

The jet mode is probably one of the laziest attempts of a vehicle mode I’ve ever seen.

It’s essentially a rectangle with a pink nosecone, and thin, stumpy wings which barely make clearance behind the fuselage. 

I suppose you could make the argument that a space ship doesn’t need wings, but then this flight mode would just be a box with a nosecone...

The flight mode just doesn’t work; it’s just a disjointed, unfocused mess...but then again so was the original Apeface; so were many of the post G1 movie toyline figures, maybe that’s the theme? 

Was this deliberately meant to be as lazy as the G1 version, or is Hasbro’s design team experiencing burn out; is history is repeating itself much like in the 80′s and they were just running out of refreshing ideas?

Let’s continue.

Spasma can be placed at the rear of the...’jet’. There’s an opening canopy underneath the pink maneuvering veins, and he fits well enough.

Beast Mode:

Apeface is the OG munky bot, predating Beast Wars’ Optimus Primal.

Starting with the head, first off Spasma needs to be removed from the robot mode, because he is also the head for the beast mode too! Or at least the top half of the head; this is not a feature I was expecting and I kind of like it.

The beast head has a Cylon-like scanner eye, with sharp teeth painted on the mouth area; I’m not even sure that’s supposed to be a functioning mouth, or just a homage to the old WWII war planes. Regardless, I think it’s a really fun touch.

Moving on to the rest of the beast mode, Apeface...is an ape-like robot, but clearly not a robot in disguise. This guy is clearly the Deceptcion’s interpretation of a horrifying earth monster, and sure; if I saw a 30 foot robo-monkey rampaging through a city, I’d be pretty horrified, I suppose.

So this beast mode has a lot of robot, and jet kibble all over the toy, (I mean come on; he’s got wings on his butt...) yet this mode is meant to be the main feature; after all his name IS Apeface, and it has nothing to do with his robot mode-Optimus Prime fan face, so it has to be about the beast mode.

It’s weird, but this works so much better for me than the dreadful jet mode.

Final Thoughts:

Apeface is a fun toy, but wow is this guy is all over the place when it comes to cohesiveness.

Still, he’s good for what he is. Apeface is a nobody; a troop filler. Just put this guy in the front lines of your Decepticion army, watch him go ape slag on your Autobots, and he can be the first to get stomped on by Omega Supreme.

Two long rumored characters and two surprise combatants enter the fray!

ScreenRant has published an article revealing four upcoming figures in Hasbro’s Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege line! And if you’re a fan of late G1 characters, you’ve got three reasons to be excited!

  One of those reasons, however, is not the long rumored Leader Class Astrotrain, but you should still be excited anyways! A full triple changer, complete with a vaguely steam train looking train mode, Astrotrain doesn’t seem to armor up quite like fellow Leader Class toys in the Siege line, but the article does promise he comes with combinable weapons! Also announced is another confirmed rumor, Voyager Class Apeface, who does indeed retain his Headmaster status with the included Titan Master Spasma figure!

  As for the surprises, first we have Deluxe Class Spinister! Though he wasn’t the winner in last year’s fan vote, which ultimately gave us Siege Mirage and Impactor, it seems he’ll still be getting a new toy! And one of his Targetmaster partners, Shrute (née Hairsplitter), will be included in the upcoming Decepticon Phantomstrike Squadron boxset! No word on whether or not his running mate Wheeljack will also receive a Siege toy. We also have Deluxe Class Crosshairs, a remold/redeco or Siege Ironhide with a new head that turns him into the classic Targetmaster character!
