Advantages of Raman Spectroscopy for Nanomaterial Characterization

Raman Spectroscopy is a powerful analytical technique that offers numerous advantages for the characterization of nanomaterials. Its ability to provide detailed structural and chemical information at the nanoscale makes it invaluable for studying the properties and behaviors of nanomaterials in various applications.
High Sensitivity and Specificity: Raman Spectroscopy exhibits high sensitivity and specificity in detecting and identifying nanomaterials. It can distinguish between different types of nanomaterials based on their unique vibrational spectra, even in complex mixtures or matrices.
Non-Destructive Analysis: One of the key advantages of Raman Spectroscopy for nanomaterial characterization is its non-destructive nature. Unlike some characterization techniques that require sample preparation or alteration, Raman Spectroscopy allows for direct analysis of nanomaterials without damaging or altering their properties.

Approximately 7 months ago, during my spectral theory class, I learned of the word sesquilinear and haven't gotten over it since.
Sesquilinear is the property of being linear in one argument and being conjugate linear in the other. In contrast to being bilinear, i.e. linear in both arguments. The root "sesqui" means one and a half, which, tbf, is reasonable enough.
(Side note: this is a property of inner products, which I learned about years ago? But I don't recall my previous measure/functional prof ever using it? Idk maybe just a language thing.)
But I think the word is just so funny? It sounds *silly*.
My perspective has only been moved into sillier territory by one of my friends adding "sesquilinear" to the "potential leopard gecko names" list that's taped to our office wall, shortly after we covered inner products in one of our shared classes this semester.
Idk when he added it, but he was there when I first noticed so I commented it seemed rather mean to do that. Then I recalled that he didn't actually like leopard geckos so okay, makes more sense now. Still mean, but makes sense.
Consequently, if I'm tired or otherwise a little out of it and hear sesquilinear, I cannot handle it and will have to stiffle giggles.
This hit recently during my linear algebra class when we defined bilinear, which shouldn't really have set it off since 1) literally not the same word 2) I wasn't even that tired. A little bored if anything. Otoh, same prof for spectral and linear. So I just sat and continued taking notes while grinning and smothering my giggles. Unknown if the professor noticed.
#im very glad to take linear this semester because its the first theoretical linear class ive taken and i can already tell its super useful#but its extremely funny to take it (with the same professor!) after spectral theory#an analysis class that is sufficiently high up that many major departments dont offer it as a class regularly#(my prev two institutions didnt and its every other year here. there were 6 students last semester)#also taking it concurrently with functional analysis (someone else is in both too lol)#i am like. physically incapable of taking classes in a nice normal order I think. though its been a domino effect situation for a while#seven stories#spectral DEs linear

One Issue I Would Have if the Series Continued
I would love to have another season of Mysticons. It's a great show with amazing characters and so much potential for other storylines, and I wish it became a very popular show with many seasons, similar to Winx Club. However, there is one problem; the final villain was too great of a threat.
The Spectral Hand was a huge villain in the show. It's an ancient evil that could make people vanish just by wrapping them with its tentacles, could attack a wide area and needed a special weapon to destroy. Because of this, the Spectral Hand is a great villain.
This is why it would cause a problem. The show, like many shows, increase how threatening the villains are. For example, Dreadbane was the first main villain, and he wasn't that threatening when compared to Necrafa. And while you could argue that Proxima isn't as strong as Necrafa, the fact that Proxima had a connection to the Mysticons, took over an important organization (the Astromancers), and made the Vexicons made her a strong enough threat. Because of this, if the series continued, we would have to find a stronger villain than the Spectral Hand, which would be challenging.
There are some villains that could take over, but it would be hard to figure out how they're justified. Tazma is strong, but she'd need to be given more powers to be above the Spectral Hand. And while there is the Spectral Hand's creator, considering the Spectral Hand destroyed her, it's hard to say that she would be a larger threat.
However, this only applies if you see the Spectral Hand as a true villain, and not something summoned by the main villain (the Vexicons). As the Spectral Hand has no personality or speaking lines, it's possible that people see it more of an entity than a character. Also, the Spectral Hand only lasted for one episode. Because of this, it's possible that it does not count as a villain, so the next villain in the show would only have to be stronger than the Vexicons.
In short, given how powerful the Spectral Hand is, it would be hard to have a stronger villain than it for the series to continue. However, for those who do not consider the Spectral Hand as a villain itself, as it's not much of a character, it's not an issue.

I know there are as many religious good guys as there are religious bad guys in IDW, but I think I pinned down the reason why it feels like the most prominent religious figures are all bad guys and it's pretty much due to the worldbuilding.
Maybe my memory of the comics is just really bad, but the religious worldbuilding in IDW is....kind of trash honestly. I'm not sure there's a single religion or religious custom that doesn't exist solely to further the plot along. Like, it's one thing for the Camiens to worship the Primes and that causes a lot of stuff in exRID/OP, but what does that worship actually look like? What are their holidays, customs, religious texts? What about "spectralism" which basically the only thing we know about is the Festival of the Lost Light and some hippie color coding and aura shit? Like sure, there are characters who are religious and their beliefs come into play sometimes, but it honestly feels (especially in MTMTE) more like their religiousness only exists when it's relevant to the plot and it's just kinda. Disappointing eh. Lacking in worldbuilding. Plus the more religious a character is the more it's written as their entire personality and the driving force making them evil so it just kinda made me cringe to read honestly.
#squiggposting#i think there might be more 'religious moments' than i remember since it's been a hot minute since i read#but i remember during my first read/while liveblogging it was something that disappointed me#i know it's probably unfair or whatever but it still makes me cringe so hard#that the reason tyrest suddenly became a religious zealot was because he got shot with a brain altering bullet#and his religious fervor is almost literally just a product of him being brain damaged and delusional#like oooooooooooooooooooooooof it's so fucking cringe lol#i'm not sure if i'm making sense honestly. it's not so much the NUMBER of evil vs non evil religious characters#but it's more like. the more prominently religion is part of a character's personality or motivation#the odds of them just being an evil guy shoots up to almost 100%#also then there's dr/ft who's a fucking clown and 'spectralism' is just some half baked hippie shit i can't take seriously#guess my problem isn't with IDW so much as it is with JRO lol#anyways not an objective analysis i might be wrong on some counts that was just my feelings as i read#and also i just don't like it when the worldbuilding around culture only exists when it comes to plot related stuff#it really makes the world feel less lived in/realistic when it's established that there are multiple religions#but then as far as actual customs- beliefs- texts- philosophies- etc there's hardly anything#so the good guys may be religious but there's not much about what their beliefs actually entail and how they impact their daily life#and on the other hand the bad guys are screaming about how they're god's chosen all over the place

My glasses prescription being so high gives me the extra ability to sense whether lights are LED or not
#unless im looking dead on at something my glasses add some pretty pronounced chromatic aberration on the edges#which i guess my brain just adjusts for most of the time#ive had it make me not notice that chromatic aberration was being used as a deliberate graphical effect#because my glasses literally accidentally corrected it and the image aligned#it sounds far fetched but that happened#usually if i look at a point of light at the edge of my lenses it will smear out into a prism'd spectrum band type deal#unless its LED lights#leds emit such narrow wavelengths of light that there isnt anything to smear and i just get distinct separate images spreading out#if its a yellow dot and i rotate my head it splits into a distinct red and green dot#I ran into a weird example at disneyland once where some spooky tableau was lit with bright blue LED lights#and it was especially disorienting because the blue light separated completely from the warmer ambient light#nothing aligned with itself and it made it hard to tell what i was even looking at I'm not sure how else to describe it#ive recognized this as a distinct extra sense that most people dont possess but one which also isnt especially useful or impressive#but im getting free spectral analysis from my eyesight being bad

DR S3 P2 LEAKS
a long analysis about Jay's character. w/pictures
this is going to be a bit messy cuz english isn't my first language,,, but fuck thattt.
what irks me about that last Jaya scene from the leaks is when Nya told Jay she thought she saw his old self—and that she was wrong
knowing the fact she doesn’t even know what happened to him after the Merge, or what he went through before he shattered whatever was left of his goodness, all while dealing with amnesia alone
we can all agree on how the way the ninja, Nya and Lloyd in this case, keep trying to shove the image of who Jay used to be onto someone who’s clearly not himself anymore,,,it's just a bad move overall
We still don’t know why Jay left the Administration. he didn’t just leave, he escaped
the thing about the Administration is that;
the Administration knew who Jay is on a personal level (they were searching for him specifically)
Jay doesn’t want anyone there knowing he’s the elemental master of lightning
and then he was clearly upset with the Administration right after he wasn't involved with them too
Jay is absolutely sure that the Administration, the one he naively trusted at first, lied about something. lied to such a degree that he was visibly upset. and another thing we know about his state during his time there, according to Bonzle, is that his heart just wasn’t really in it
that already tells us a lot about Jay’s position here. remember, he still had his goodness during all of this. the fact that he left must mean he found out the Administration was doing something seriously wrong, and he didn’t want to be a part of it
then Ras came along, again, during the time Jay still had his goodness. Jay genuinely thought Ras was a good guy and ended up believing the Ninja weren’t thanks to his manipulation
now that he left Ras shattered and betrayed, he probably stopped believing there’s any good in people at all. add some major trust issues into the mix
and as far as the lore of this franchise goes, one of Jay’s core traits is that he dislike lying—especially after Season 6. bro literally judged Nya for telling a white lie to Arin’s parents.
I’m kinda guessing here, but Jay’s probably testing the waters with Nya and the rest of the ninja, trying to figure out whether they’re actually safe to trust or not
So far, he’s been extremely blunt about what he thinks,,,he doesn’t exactly lie to the ninja. despite how mean sounding most of them are, Jay is just being bluntly honest
It’s sad to see this “silly” scene on its own, because Jay genuinely believes he never had any goodness to begin with
probably because his first memory was working in the Administration, a place he ended up escaping from for some unknown or bad reason, and he was stuck there for who knows how long
and also because he trusted Ras. the guy he thought was a good person/better than the administration
So, a little conclusion: the obvious reason why Jay only thinks about himself and not others right now is because this kind of thing has happened to him way too often
If he’s going to lean on other people, he needs to see two things
that they’re being truthful
that they’re not trying to force him into being someone he’s not
and as of now, the ninja fail both of those checks—so Jay’s nowhere near ready to believe in them
a little thing I wanted to point out too,,,,Jay left the group right after they were at the Spectral Land’s Monastery. It’s pretty odd because he could’ve left when they were waiting for Sora and Arin to come back from the junkyard. but he didn’t
the reason he probably stayed with them was just to make sure they arrived there safely, knowing how dangerous that place is. and why he wants to go there willingly?
he probably wants to see some truth from the ninja themselves when he’s not involved with them (since we’re all guessing this is Jay following Nya in this scene)
and he might be picking Nya because he’s drawn to her the most, even if he realize it or not
last but not least
I couldn’t stop thinking about this one scene from episode 3 because it went straight to Jay’s picture (who ironically enough is the only one smiling in the picture) when she explained the main core of the ninja. being selfless and caring about people
it was all now shown in the series that Jay’s core personality is still there despite being shattered. being absolutely terrible at jokes and playing video games are two of them
so the question is,,, is there more to Jay that we haven’t seen yet?
POINTS THE OBVIOUS 👆

oh also. this part??? I bet you is a foreshadow

do you have a favourite celestial body?
TSAC: I hesitate to pick just one object of interest... my area of study finds me analyzing the sky as a whole, after all.
However, if I had to choose... one type of object I enjoy observing are supernova remnants. These nebulae are left behind by the collapse of a massive star, and they often exhibit very unique properties. One supernova remnant in the constellation of the Rain Deer is particularly intriguing.
The nebula is very young by astronomical standards- the supernova that created it is thought to have been recorded by astronomers of the early Green Hegemonic dynasty, before the Void Fluid Revolution. It was even bright enough to be seen during the day! This apparent disruption of the Celestial Spheres was considered quite exciting to scholars of the time.
In the present day, the corpse of the massive star that created this supernova remnant can be found in the center of the nebula as a pulsar. This dense, rapidly spinning stellar remnant is a very strong source of radio emissions, as well as x-rays and gamma radiation. This energizes the surrounding gas of the nebula and causes it to glow unusually brightly.
I enjoy listening to pulsars such as this. The tempo of their pulses is extremely stable, which makes any changes in their output very exciting. The pulsar at the center of this nebula occasionally exhibits "glitches" in its otherwise stable period of rotation. The source of this instability is unknown, but might be related to activity below the pulsar's surface. I believe the exotic matter existing inside of dense stellar remnants such as this may shed some light on the more enigmatic properties of Void Fluid, and the Void Sea by extension. I find this prospect quite exciting!
On a different note, another focus of my research is the discovery of other planetary systems orbiting distant stars. Studying the properties of these planets might help us understand our own planet's relationship to the Cycle.
In my research I have come across many potential exoplanet candidates, a portion of which are even within their Suns' habitable zones, where liquid water may exist.
One exoplanet system is of particular interest. Planetary transit analysis of the system's G-class host star has revealed at least eight planets; four gas giants and four terrestrial planets. Two of the terrestrial planets are potentially within the system's habitable zone, with spectral analysis showing one in particular has a substantial atmosphere with a considerable amount of water vapor.
Liquid water is considered essential for life, even on other planets. This distant planet could possibly be home to an array of complex alien life forms! If life does exist on this planet, I wonder if its inhabitants are bound to the Cycle as well. One can only speculate!

things I still think were kinda cool world building even if I don't really have uses for them any more, since I'm thinking about that ancient gaster blog:
-humans and monsters have loosely equal amounts of total magic, humans just have it all compressed into their soul which basically forms a little thaumic singularity that has time/space lensing effects
-similarly, monsters can have a magic color lean/"trait", it's just invisible externally because they're much more spread across the magic spectrum (allowing usage of different magic colors and such) and it all tends to just appear as white when added together. however spectral analysis can reveal an overall Trait as the highest peak if you really want to for some reason
-human magic when it existed basically involved partially unfolding your soul. it was very fucking dangerous because like. spend too much and the singularity collapses and you die.
