I wish Starfield was a little more narratively consistent about the rules of their universe(s) but at the same time I guess you're not meant to overthink it because "the laws of the universe are more like guidelines anyway" as Barrett points out in some dialogue.
but see. I intentionally sacrificed my LI (Barretttttt) so that I'd have an excuse to go through the Unity and the mixed signals you get from the Emissary vs. members of Constellation of what just happened makes me confused on how to navigate the roleplay at this point.
the actual Starborn make sure to point out to you that every individual version of a person is that version of a person and you'll never find "your" version of a person again. ye that's fine.
but then when you get deep enough into talking with the Constellation members, they mention you or something you said or whatever being familiar.
now I can totally accept that due to some crazy quantum mechanics thing, all consciousness is somehow connected through the multiverse. let's say you die in one world, and your consciousness wakes up in another with no recollection of your previous life, just some weird impressions and dreams or something.
it's kind of like the Unity says; when you become Starborn, you're dying in that universe and your essence scatters over the universe. you're reborn in another universe as a Starborn. but for a regular person who dies, they're probably reborn in another of their own human bodies, in another universe.
this all makes sense to me but it's annoying to be told contradictory things by the characters.
so anyway now I'm sitting here trying to figure out if it's worth it to do the 10 NG runs that apparently give you a "real" end. I want to know more about the mechanics of this multiverse, like where is everyone else who went into the Unity with you? but knowing Bethesda it kinda feels like even after doing the 10 runs, you don't really get much explanation or closure to anything?

FINALLY FINSIHED STARFIELD LAST NIGHT. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!
From my point of view, Unity is not worth it. My spacefarer has wonderful parents and an amazing found family in the Constellation. She's a hero many times over and has left her mark on her universe in several ways. Why would she NOT want to stay and see how her actions go on to play out up close and personal? Why would she want to leave behind all of her loved ones?
Throwing away the chance to see Cora Coe grow up and become the remarkable woman she's on her way to being is WILD to me. Not seeing what else Constellation can uncover in the universe that created and formed her does not make sense to me.
And fuck what Barrett says about wanting to stay in my original universe as being my lizard brain. It's my heart cause this universe is my heart. All of the blood, sweat, and tears I have poured into protecting the people of this universe, bettering their lives, getting to know and connect with all of these different people...........
Like, my character loves her universe and the universe loves her (despite the amount of times it's tried to do her in). She's not throwing away her parents, her Sarah Morgan, her Andreja, her Barrett, and so on just to see what's on the other side. The only heartbreaker is not being able to save Sam.

Well, I did it. I finished Starfield. Ish. Spoilers below.
My mind was already made. Kanan couldn't leave their home behind. I couldn't leave everything behind. Kanan wasn't lying when they said the journey far outweighed the destination, and I have to agree.
For as much as the Unity offers... there is still plenty to be done in this universe. The Unity tells us that with Constellation's publishing of everything we've found, and with the Starborn out of the way, humanity takes that giant leap together. And I think, at the end of the day, someone will step through the Unity. Someone will witness the infinite in full. But for me, for Kanan... this universe is enough.
I did load a save to see what would happen if I stepped through. And the cutscene with the swelling music... It was overwhelming, in a good way. All the fruits of my labor led to that moment, witnessing eternity, witnessing the infinite, seeing the vast cosmic universe bend. It sure was something. It left me breathless.
Man. Starfield really is something special.
I'll keep fucking around with Kanan's save for some time. I'll probably end up doing a new playthrough with them. I do plan on doing a playthrough with their sister, Senya, where I will actually experience all the alternate universes, since she goes through the Unity in my canon.
I'm going to be coming back to this game for a long time to come. (I mean, this game has been my entire personality since it came out. It has filled every waking thought. You can ask my friends, they'll likely tell you they're annoyed with me for spending so much time with Starfield and being unable to do movie nights because of it, lol.)
Anyway. Just wanted to put my thoughts out there.

honestly cannot understand why the emissary gets to admonish you for not telling constellation that you’re starborn but when you go back to the lodge after that you don’t even get a dialogue option to tell them. wouldn’t it have made more sense to give you that choice after?

just finished starfield. very good game, very fun, but definitely a Bethesda rpg. most of my gripes are pretty minor, all told, and the entire experience was overall positive. 7/10 with extremely high potential in dlc content
