definitely the heart. vinny, you might say, surely as a mage he might be smarter about things? absolutely the fuck not. the man is an impulsive rogue who happens to also be a human lightning rod. varric's reason for calling him rook was not inaccurate. not to say he does not follow his head sometimes i.e. acknowledging when he really HAS to scope out a situation before jumping in it, which he tends to do in-game with bigger shit (but that's also because i needed to 100% the game goddamnit) but what's the point in having a head without a heart as well? he ultimately acts with his heart, whether its impulsivity or just how much he thinks solas is annoying or revenge for [REDACTED] or the Love. he is definitely more inclined to be driven by anger and revenge and Especially on behalf of someone else. also diversity win! the sentimental comedy man who will die if he isn't doing 5 consecutive Bits is still able to tell the people around him he cares about them.

The Hermit: When Rook is alone with their thoughts, what do they think about? Is solitude a blessing or a curse for them?

pre-veilguard i'd say he thinks about men's boobs and how to exaggerate some mid ass delve he went on as part of the lords. alone time is probably a neutral thing to him bc he doesn't necessarily Need to be around others a lot but he is quite social, but spends his alone time probably training or just chilling

during veilguard that man should NOT be left alone. he starts off embodying the "just became important at work and it's ruining my life" post. he may be an emotional person but that doesn't mean he actually deals with it (shocker for the guy running 5 consecutive Bits or he'll die!) i think its also a curse if hes alone in the lighthouse because he does not want to get sleepy and have to talk to that cunt solas. not even just bc he inevitably gets involved with lucanis but i think the introduction of lucanis helps distract him just a little bit from the sheer fact that while star is not the scholar type at all even he as a mage sees non-mage possessed by a demon (and is fine) and goes...hey What. are you guys fucking seeing this shit?

so yeah he's definitely dreading the weight of the world on his shoulders when he is alone and Does Not Like It and probably resorts to stuff like training w his dagger or bothering someone else to try and distract or force it out of his head entirely. but sometimes he does think about what kind of desserts to make in the kitchen.
