eddie and steve who sleep together every night after vecna.
steve who is always the little spoon because the weight of eddie draped over his back makes him feel safe.
eddie who curls his entire body around steve because he craves the skin-to-skin contact.
eddie and steve who trade stories of their childhoods all night long until one of them falls asleep.
steve who laughs like a maniac when eddie tells him about the time he thought he could fly after a realistic dream and broke his arm jumping off his uncles pickup.
eddie who cries like a baby when steve tells him about the (first of many) times he spent holidays alone because his parents were on vacation.
eddie and steve who hold each other like something fragile when they have nightmares.
eddie and steve who braid, play, and brush one another’s hair when they can’t sleep.
eddie and steve who ritually kiss each others foreheads before they settle in for the night.
eddie and steve who share a singular cigarette together every morning on steve’s front porch.
eddie and steve who gradually start doing everything together.
eddie and steve who have their first kiss in steve’s pool during a late-night swim.
eddie and steve who hold hands in front of the party.
eddie and steve who become boyfriends instead of just friends.
eddie and steve who have loved each other since vecna and will love each other long after.

Eddie shows up unannounced at Steve’s house, not expecting to find a little boy stood in his place. Figuratively.
Age regressor Steve, pure fluff ´ˎ˗
—kink regressors dni
(this is a repost off my twitter page so the format is wacky)
For Steve, it was just one of /those/ days. He didn’t know what they were and it seemingly happened at random, like he couldn’t control it.
Sometimes certain things trigger him, though. Like the time he opened a music box and a lullaby sang softly out of it, sending him into a strange headspace where he felt 10x younger than he really is.
Vulnerable in a thrift shop with only Robin to confide in.
Today, however, he had made himself comfortable on the couch after flipping the tv on and finding that the channel selected had been the kids channel, and as it flickered to life he heard the theme of scooby-doo ring out.
He was too comfortable to change it, finding himself immersed in the show, giggling along to it and curling up more on the couch as he chewed on the edge of his blanket.
When the doorbell rang, Steve jumped and the blanket slipped from his mouth as he sat up.
“Stevie! You home? I can see your car, man.” Eddie’s voice made Steve gasp and shoot up off the couch, racing to the foyer.
“Eddie!” Steve swung the door open, blanket wrapped around his shoulders, nearly slipping on the shiny floors with his socked feet.
“Oh- hey, sorry. Didn’t call before I came, I know. Dreadful etiquette.” Eddie chuckles, stepping into the house as Steve shuts the door behind him.
“You up for a smoke? Brought a six-pack too.” Eddie holds up the case of beer and grins.
The grin falters when he looks back at Steve’s face, eyes wide like he has no idea what Eddie’s talking about. “Whuh- huh?” Eddie frowns as he walks into the kitchen, Steve following in tow.
“You alright, sweetheart?”
Steve nods and giggles in response. “Like when you say that.” Eddie’s eyes widen, then he furrows his brows, leaning against the counter.
“How old are you feeling, Stevie?” Steve just sits at the kitchen bench and sways his feet, thinking about it.
“Dunno… maybe..” Steve bites his lip and his face scrunches up as he counts on his fingers, holding up 4 of them, then 3, then back to 4. “Dunno, sorry.”
Eddie nods, face twisted in thought. “It’s alright, that’s good. Thank you for telling me, baby.”
Steve’s face lights up and Eddie smiles, ruffling his hair. Steve squeaks, batting his hands away with a pout. “Don’t touch my hair!”
Eddie snorts, holding his hands up in surrender. “I see you’re still a little Princess about your hair. Alright, have you eaten?”
Steve thinks for a second, glancing behind him towards the loungeroom. “Uhm.. yeah.” Eddie raises an eyebrow, taking one step towards the room before Steve’s giggling and standing up, pushing Eddie back and further away from the loungeroom.
“No, Eddie! Don’t look! Not for you!” Eddie can’t help but grin at the happy, carefree look on Steve’s face and he laughs with him.
“What are you hiding in there, huh?” Eddie pushes past Steve and jogs over to the loungeroom and gasps dramatically.
“Steven!”
“You’re hoarding chocolate bars, so naughty!” Eddie laughs breathily, as he walks up to the coffee table, taking in Steves little setup.
There are 2 wrappers littering the table, 3 unopened and one opened bar laying lonely on the couch where it looks like Steve was sitting.
“Is this all you’ve eaten, bub?” At Steve’s silence, Eddie turns around and his heart aches at the sight.
Steve standing nervously in the threshold, eyes bubbling with tears as he chews his thumb, seeking out some kind of comfort.
“Woah- hey, Stevie- What happened?”
Steve’s breath shudders and his lip wobbles, everything about the sight makes Eddie’s heart break in two.
“Didn’t mean to- I swear-” Eddie frowns, rushing over to Steve, gently wiping the tears from his cheeks.
“Baby! Sweetie, it’s okay. You’re okay, don’t even worry about it.”
“Jus’ don’ know how to cook very well..” Steve sniffles, rubbing his eyes with his fists and Eddie gently scolds him for it, pulling his hands away. “Please don’ call me that, though. Hate it.”
“Oh, baby,” Eddie sighs, “Which one?”
“ ‘Teven… Only get called that when m’naughty.”
Eddie pets Steve’s hair, leaning to place a kiss on the top of his head. “I’m sorry, honey. Thank you for telling me though, look how good you are!”
Steve giggles a little, pushing Eddie’s hand away from his head.
“Say… Let’s get your tummy full before you go back and watch… scooby-doo?”
“Scooby-doo!” Steve perks up and tries running back into the loungeroom, eager and excited.
Eddie catches him and wraps his arms around Steve’s waist before he can escape, laughing and dragging him back.
“Nuh-uh. Come on, silly boy. If you behave we’ll order pizza.” Steve gasps and squeezes out of Eddie’s hold, rushing into the kitchen.
He rummages through the pamphlets of all the restursnts and waves the pizzeria’s number in Eddie’s face.
“Please! Jus’ cheese?” Steve smiles at Eddie and he can’t even think about saying no to him.
“Of course little man. You wanna sit sit on the counter and listen?”
Steve grins excitedly and turns, trying to hop up on the counter but Eddie reaches and grabs his waist, guiding him up. “There you go, good. Sit still.”
Eddie calls up the pizza place, smiling and silently giggling at Steve who’s making silly faces at him. He cups Steve’s cheek as he’s speaking into the phone and strokes it with his thumb.
When Steve starts babbling randomly, swinging his feet and giggling at random things Eddie has to hold back an amused laugh, instead he covers the speaker, bringing his finger to his lips.
“Shhh, baby. Just for a minute.” He whispers.
“Okay!” Steve whispers back, very loudly, but he’s got the spirit and that’s what counts.
When the phone call ends, Eddie pats Steve’s thigh and helps him off the counter.
“Let’s go cuddle up on the couch and wait until the pizza gets here, yeah baby?” Eddie takes Steve’s hand and Steve brings Eddie’s finger to his mouth, biting lightly. “Gonna have to get you a chew toy, huh?”
“A what-wha?”
Eddie snorts, quickly filling a water bottle and guiding Steve back over to the loungeroom.
“Sit down there. What do you wanna watch, bub?” He sorts through the accumulation of tapes under the tv cabinet, holding them up so Steve can see.
“Hm… yogi bear?” Steve frowns, and looks at Eddie for confirmation.
Eddie just grins and shoved the tape in the player and sits on the couch. “Good choice, you’re so perfect. My perfect boy.”
Steve smiles contentedly and leans into Eddie, wrapping an arm around his middle, head resting on his shoulder. “Like you s’much, Eds.”
“You’re so cute.” Eddie sighs, pushing Steve’s hair back off his forehead, placing a kiss there.
“I like you too.”

People have started to aggressively care for Steve, and it's a little weird.
But, somehow it's endearing to watch, and it's actually working. Steve was used to corporal punishment, so having care that somehow translates into that is quite effective.
Dustin has started to take note of the best interactions he's happened to overhear.
First it's Robin.
"Okay, truth or dare?"
"Dare!"
"Go take a fucking nap."
"What?"
"You heard me Harrington, go take a nap or I'm going to knock you the fuck out."
And Steve actually listens! Maybe it's because he's a little afraid of Robin, and doesn't think she knows just how strong she is, but he listens, and he's finally catching up on some much needed sleep.
After that, it's Hopper. Which is interesting because last time Dustin checked, Hopper didn't like Steve all that much... Maybe the trauma bond of being tortured by Russians gave him a change of heart.
"Harrington, I swear to god. If you don't get your ass over here for dinner tonight, I am going to ticket you for all those parties you had in high school."
"I- Hopper? I can't just-"
"Yes, you can. Joyce and I had better see you tonight."
And of course, Dustin being Dustin, he has to put himself on the list.
"Steve, if you don't take me to my therapy appointment I am going to tell Robin you skipped a nap yesterday."
And when they get to Dr. Jonah's office, Steve finds that it's actually his appointment, and get some much needed help.
Dustin, personally, thinks his method is the best, but... Others may disagree. Not that anyone knows he's making this list but. Still.
Anyways, this system works.
And he thinks it may be the best method, until he sees how Eddie gets Steve to care for himself. And yeah, maybe it was weird at first to see his two best older male friends kiss, not in a homophobic way, but a "ew my parents are in love" way, but after he saw how good they are for each other, it stopped being so odd.
"Stevie, have you eaten yet?
"No..."
"Lets go on a picnic!"
"But,"
"No buts! Help me make some sandwiches."
And there's a soft smile on Steve's face.
Maybe Dustin's method isn't the best one.

Regretful - s.h & e.m
hello loves i hope you’re all okay, this is my first steddie x reader imagine and idk why i’m so nervous but there defo will be a part two (because it’s angst tehe). this is also so short so i’m sorry. please request some steddie x reader, Steve and Eddie imagines i’m honestly running out of ideas. probably has a few mistakes but please take your time to read this and enjoy 🤍
taglist (feel free to add yourself🤍) : @loverboy-poems
you and Steve were both angry- angry at each other and Eddie had no idea what to do. the argument had started all because Steve had compared you to Nancy yet again.
Steve felt like he had done nothing wrong- all he said was he ‘didn’t think Nancy would be as loud as you’ when you were joking around with Robin and you finally snapped. you had never bought it to light that Steve compared you to Nancy but it was getting to you, making you feel insecure and you had enough.
now you were back at Eddie’s trailer screaming at each other. “well done y/n. always making a scene for the littlest things. was it really necessary?” Steve clapped his hands sarcastically. Eddies head was going back and forth as he watched the two of you argue.
“god Steve you’re infuriating. you have no idea how you make me feel when you do that” your anger was boiling inside you. Steve rolled his eyes at the comment. “this was the first time i said anything about Nancy y/n. you’re so sensitive”
you could be sensitive and you knew that but with this you knew you definitely weren’t being sensitive. you scoffed. “no i’m not Steve. you compare me to Nancy all the time”
now you were really shouting at each other and it was echoing through the trailer. “guys cmon-” Eddie was cut off almost instantly “shut up Eddie” both you and Steve shouted, turning your attention towards him.
that made Eddie settle into the sofa and just observe the two of you- what more could he do? “all you do when she’s around is compare me to her” you said in a calmer voice, if you were being honest you didn’t want to argue in the first place. all you wanted to do was let Steve know how he was making you feel when he compared you to Nancy.
“you’re delusional. i’ve never compared you to her” Steve wasn’t just angry, he was confused- he never ever compared you to Nancy. well, from what he thought. you rolled your eyes and shook your head. he really wasn’t getting it. “you need to realise that not everything revolves around you y/n- Nancy would never-”
“don’t you even finish that sentence Steve.” you cut him off, not wanting to hear him compare you to her yet again. “you don’t get to say you’ve never done it when you clearly do it all the time and to be honest with you it’s making me not like myself because all i do now is compare myself to Nancy when you’re around and i shouldn’t have to. i’m my own person and you should love me for me”
Steve laughed “y/n that’s a little dramatic” you couldn’t believe it- he was completely disregarding your feelings like they were some sort of joke to him. “are you seriously laughing at me Steve? all you do is compare me to Nancy- i understand she was your first love but you’ve got to realise i’m not Nancy and i never will be.” your anger was building up again.
“yeah well sometimes i wish you were” Steve shouted. wow. “enough” Eddie stood up- this had gone too far. your eyes filled with tears as your anger subsided into hurt. you had never in your almost year long relationship ever felt this hurt.
Steve never wanted to take words back until now. he instantly regretted it. of course he didn’t wish you were Nancy- you were perfect the way you were and he knew he took this too far. you looked down at the trailer floor as a few tears fell from your eyes. you knew Steve still had love for Nancy and he always would but this was just mean.
“y/n. i’m so sorry-” you sniffled, not wanting to hear his stupid apologies. Eddie had now gotten between the both of you and was facing you. both of his lovers arguing over something that could have been avoided if Steve just realised what he was doing.
your tears were quickly flowing down your flushed cheeks as his words sank in. “baby calm down” Eddie but his hand on your shoulder and the other on your cheek wiping the tears away softly. Eddie craned his neck so he could look at Steve. Eddie was angry Steve had said that to you but this wasn’t the right time for him to shout at him.
you sniffled and wiped under your eyes before taking a step back from Eddie. “i’m gonna go” you said quickly brushed past both Steve and Eddie and got to the front door before either one of them could stop you. Eddie turned to Steve with the angriest expression on his face.
“why would you say that to her?” Steve was now looking down at the carpet, guilt eating him alive. Steve didn’t have an answer for Eddie, he had no idea why he even said that to you. Steve stayed silent making Eddie scoff and walk to the front door so he could find you, make sure you were okay. he didn’t want you walking home in the dark- it was stupid for him to even let you walk out on your own.
now Steve was alone in Eddie’s trailer. he walked to the sofa and sat down, a loud sigh coming from him. he wanted to slap himself. he had the perfect girl right in front of him and she loved him and he fucked it up because he was stupid enough to keep brining up Nancy. “idiot idiot idiot” he said to himself as he let his head fall into his hands. he had some serious apologising to do.

A half baked Steve/steddie angst idea:
Steve thinks the only reason people love him is for image purposes.
When he was a kid his parents only loved him around other people. The perfect family to the outside observer but as soon as the crowds were gone it was all lectures and fights if they were there at all.
In the early years of school, the Harrington name was something he held with pride. He brought it out and people wanted to be around him. They were his friends because it looked good. He found out early on that if he looked good and had a good reputation people would like him. If he could give people status he got a little affection in return.
Then for a while in high school it was something to brag about to the other girls at the lunch table if you could sleep with the Steve Harrington. A prize that made you popular and the talk of the school.
But then with Nancy it felt special; different. He felt like he finally had someone who valued him as something important. Worthwhile and more than just a pretty face or a quick moment of fame. That was until the party when he was told he was bullshit and their love was pretend. The first affection he allowed himself to think was real was performative. All Steve was to her was a way to seem and feel normal. Not something to be loved for himself.
So that’s why when Eddie and Steve start dating and Eddie says he’s okay with them not telling people he’s really confused. Eddie makes it perfectly clear that he doesn’t expect Steve to come out if he’s not ready. But Steve genuinely cannot think of another reason someone would want to date him if it isn’t for the look of it. It doesn’t make sense to him. If he isn’t giving Eddie anything why would he date him?
It takes A LOT of Eddie repeatedly telling him that not only does he give a lot of things other than a good image to a relationship but he doesn’t need to. He’s worthy of love just for being himself and boy is that a hard pill for Steve to swallow.

Anatomy of a Ghost
Steddie, Steve Harrington POV, angst, not actually that steddie-focused but its there
(this is sort of angst with ambiguous ending, I just have a lot of thoughts about the way people treat Steve in regards to Barb's death, and the possibilities of Steves own misconceptions about it and his lack of support system. Honestly I could write an essay about this.)
wc: 1,859
cw/warnings: themes of survivor's guilt, some of this could be dissociation idk
summary: there's a dead girl standing at the edge of Steve's pool, and he's convinced that his house is being sucked into the water. he hasn't slept in a while.
There’s a dead girl outside, and the house is being sucked into the pool.
Every night, Steve sat on the floor in front of the sliding glass doors and stared at it, watched the pool get closer and bigger. He didn’t need his bat, Barb never moved. She always stood in the exact same spot, right there in front of him on the other side of the eerie blue water. Her clothes were always dripping. He would watch the puddle below her grow with each droplet.
When it all started, he might have shrugged it off. Steve used to think he was a reasonable, logical person. Maybe not smart, but he was pretty sure, once, that his house could not possibly be sucked into his pool. The pool was too small to hold the whole house.
Actually, though, there wasn’t much in a house. Mostly drywall and spongy insulation. Some wood, some granite countertops. Metal, glass. Shag carpet and kitchen tile. Maybe his whole house could fit into the pool after all, once it had collapsed and broken. And as he watched the pool, night after night, the truth became undeniable; like a black hole, the pool was pulling him into it.
Somewhere in his mind, he knew that the moment he stepped out into the yard, he would be dragged under the water. So instead, he kept the doors closed and locked and he sat on the Persian rug, picking at the fibers and staring out at the pool, knowing that there would come a day that it devoured him.
Barb knew it too. She stood at the edge of the water and looked down at him. Even when he tried to talk to her, he could find no words, and so he never did. It seemed like she was alright with that arrangement, because she never tried to speak either. She wasn’t the one making his house collapse into the pool. She was just a bystander, the same as Steve. Sometimes, he thought she might be looking at him in pity.
That night, it was storming. The pool was closer than ever before. It was two forty-seven in the morning, but Steve didn’t know that. Upstairs, his walkie-talkie has been going off constantly for the past three hours, but he didn’t know that either. The rain and the crash of thunder masked the sounds of the house. He couldn’t hear each droplet of water that rolled off of Barb’s hands like he usually could. He didn’t hear the knocking on his door, or the shouts of his name. He did not hear the turning of the lock.
That night, the edge of the pool was mere inches away from the doors. Steve was wondering what it would feel like to drown. He had actually considered asking Barb about it. He hadn’t bothered, though, had figured she wouldn’t hear him over the sounds of the rain.
There was a flash of lightning. Silence for several seconds before the roll of thunder.
“Steve?” Said a voice from behind him.
Steve flinched violently. For the first time in maybe weeks, in the dead of night, he pulled his eyes away from the pool to look at Eddie.
“What are you doing, man? Are you okay?” Eddie stood in the doorway to the living room, hair damp and face pale in the lightning that flashed again from outside. That split second of light was enough to see the concern on his face.
“I’m keeping an eye on things,” Steve told him. Thunder. Eddie stepped farther into the room, until he stood just at the edge of that glowing rectangle of light seeping in through the windows.
“Don’t want to disturb her, so I leave my walkie upstairs.” Steve turned his gaze back to the edge of the pool. Eddie followed suit.
“Disturb who, Steve?” He asked.
“Barb. You’ll see her when the lightning strikes again, she’s kind of hard to make out in the dark,” Steve explained, matter-of-factly.
The lightning came again.
“Steve, I… I don't see her. I don't think…” Eddie said quietly. The thunder rumbled.
“Just wait. Maybe you missed her.”
Eddie didn’t speak. Steve didn’t look at him. The pool was still only inches away.
“Have you been doing this every night?”
Steve began picking at the rug again. “The house is getting sucked into the pool,” he explained.
Eddie said nothing.
“It’s not her fault, she’s not the one doing it. The pool gets closer every night. Its only a few inches away now.”
“Steve, it's… it's the same as it always was.”
Steve’s brow furrowed. “No. It’s— I can see it getting closer,” he insisted.
“Sweetheart, when was the last time you slept?”
Steve didn’t have an answer for that. Days kind of started blurring together, he hadn’t kept count of nights.
“If the house is collapsing into the pool, then we need to get you out, okay? Let’s get you some clothes and a toothbrush and you can come stay with me for a while, the van’s outside and it should even still be warm,” Eddie murmured, and put a gentle hand right between Steve’s shoulder blades.
“I can’t leave her this time,” Steve said.
“Do you think she wants you to die?”
Steve stared out at the girl across the pool.
“I don’t know. I think that if I was her, I would.”
Lightning.
“Why?”
Thunder, loud enough now to shake the fine China in the cupboard to their left.
“Because it's my fault she died. It’s my pool she died in.”
Eddie was quiet for a moment.
“I don’t think it was, for what its worth. You couldn’t have known, Steve. Nancy brought her to your house, Nancy was the one to pick you over her. You had no connection to Barb, right? That’s what you told me,” Eddie said. He paused to gauge Steve’s reaction.
“It was my pool,” Steve said again.
“Jonathan was the last person to see her alive. Why shouldn’t he shoulder this guilt?”
Steve had nothing to say about that.
“I’m not blaming someone else in your place. All I’m saying, Steve, is that this burden never should have been yours. And you know very well how I feel about Nancy putting it onto you.” Eddie sighed, and stood. “I’m going to pack you a bag, alright? You’re going to sleep at my place tonight, and when you wake up, we’re going to figure out what to do next.”
Steve didn’t respond, again. He heard Eddie walk away, his Reeboks squeaking against the hardwood floors of the entryway, then the quiet thumping of footsteps as he climbed the stairs and headed into Steve’s room.
For the first time, Steve was having trouble making out the shape of Barb in the darkness. He stood and, holding on tightly to the doorframe, unlocked the glass door and pushed it open.
He wasn’t dragged immediately into the pool. He was careful, very careful, as he walked around the odd shape of it, to not slip on the narrow ledge. Only a few inches between the house and the pool. It felt like miles on the other side.
Now, he stood opposite to the house, between the pool and the woods, rain soaking his clothes and chilling his skin. It was darker there, he felt. He reached out into the darkness, and found nothing but rain.
Panicked, he stumbled forward and again, found nothing. He stood exactly where Barb would have been standing, should have been standing, and looked back to the house, and the open glass door, and the single lit window just above it where he saw Eddie rushing back and forth in his room. His hair was plastered to his forehead now, his hands hung limply at his sides and he felt the droplets running down his arms, drip-drip-dripping off his hands. The sound of it overpowered the rain and thunder. He hadn’t even noticed the lightning strike.
He felt stuck to that spot, staring in through the door at the spot he had occupied on the floor, god knows how many nights he spent there. He wondered if maybe, one of those nights, he should have offered to let Barb come inside.
Eddie was at his side again, Steve vaguely registered seeing him come back downstairs, watching the fear overtaking his face when he saw the open door, and then the way he hid it when his eyes fell on Steve outside. He was steering Steve back towards the house, and they weren’t being careful on the narrow ledge between the house and the pool that time but they made it inside nonetheless. There was a large duffel bag on the ground, stuffed full. Eddie closed and locked the sliding door again. The drip-drip-drip became muffled by the carpet, but he could still hear it.
There was a towel wrapped around him, gentle hands drying his hair and soaking as much water as possible out of his t-shirt, his pants, brushing the rivulets off his hands and feet. His skin stung with the removal of the constant chill, but he was handed clean, dry clothes right out of the duffle bag, and when he didn’t move to change, Eddie took care in removing his shirt and drying him off again, replacing it with the new one. Then pants and underwear, in a reversal of the way Steve had once looked after Eddie, in the weeks after his death and revival, and long hospital stay. There were no secrets between them, anymore, not really.
The dry clothes did nothing to soothe the sting, but Eddie wrapped a blanket around him, a fluffy throw from the couch, picked up the bag, and with a hand on the small of Steve’s back, walked them to the door. Steve turned back only once, and even in the bright flash of lightning, Barb was nowhere to be found. The pool was getting farther away again, but it might have just been a trick of the light.
The drive to Eddie’s wasn’t silent, but Steve didn’t remember Eddie ever keeping the volume of his radio so low. Whatever tape was in the deck was nothing more than a quiet hum over the rain and the rumble of the engine.
Then they were there, and Eddie was leading him inside with that hand on his back again, and he was being made to lay down on Eddie’s bed, and he tried to ask where Eddie was going to sleep, but he just got a shake of the head and a murmur of assurance, that Eddie would be alright.
For the first time in what must have been a very long time, Steve began to feel sleepy. Eddie was talking quietly, none of the words meant much of anything, but his voice rumbled like the thunder, now far in the distance, and the rain battered the roof of the small bungalow which Wayne and Eddie called home, and the room smelled like smoke and the sheets like sweat. Steve didn’t dream at all, but that blackness of sleep must have lasted forever.

♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
You can't even believe it, you're roomies with a metalhead
It's not what you expected on your freshman year but in a good way, you're just appalled
It makes you giggle a little whenever you came home to your dorm
The setting and the design of the room is so different, it's so very obvious that the two of you have different taste
Yours is more playful, the colors are lavender, baby blue, light pink in the bedsheets and for as him....well.... the most rock n' roll arrangement that you ever seen and to be completely honest
You kinda dig it
He is not what you thought he would be, you thought he would be a bully, mean, rude, messy or worse an asshole
To your surprise, he is a very kind and thoughtful dude, maybe even the best roomie/classmate that you could ever ask for
Plus, he's a gentleman! He's real sweet whenever he comes home he always brings you food for dinner even you don't ask for him to do it
While on the way to the University, you really thought you're going to spend the rest of the year dealing with some creepy dude, you decided to switch rooms to another and you have to admit that you got scared when you found out that a boy is going to be your roomie
You remember your first encounter together
"Damn" he stumbles on the door with his heavy baggage, clutching on his guitar hardly like it was the sacred thing ever
You turned your heel around to unpack your stuff, you got locked eyes with a rockstar on the front door
He immediately turns confused as his eyes roams around the room "Am I in the right room?"
You ignore his remark, you question him "Who are you?"
"Eddie Munson" he clicks his tongue as he try to introduce himself again "Well, actually it's Edward Munson, I prefer to call myself Eddie Munson a lot more"
You got amused to his personality, you chuckled "You're in the right room, Edward Munson" you say as you continue your task
"You're my roommate?" Eddie checks his paper one more look at it and turns his eyes back to you
You felt like from the tone of Eddie's words, it made you think like somehow he reads your mind before you can say anything, he says
"I could go to the headmasters office, you know, to change our situation better, it-it's the best for the both of us, so uh- if you're bothered that me being your roomie, no hard feelings here" he grabs his two heavy baggage and the guitar, he puts them down outside as he looks for school's staff
Judging by the way he behaves and it seems like he is a responsible kid, you changed your mind
You put down your boxes on your bed as you run outside of the room to find Eddie, he is now talking to a school's staff
"Oh no" you muttered, you quickly ran into the dorm's hallway as you apologize in the process for the other students bumped into you whilst running
You overheard Eddie's saying "Can you consider this" he gestures to the paper as he hands out to the school's staff
"I would like to change-" before he can finish you cut him off
"Change the bedsheets!" you say out loud not that you mean to but you're trying to catch up with your breath
"Uh- sorry" you cleared your throat, you carefully snatch off the paper that Eddie has given to the school's staff
Eddie couldn't be more confused as ever as he darts his eyes on you and the paper that you holding behind your back
"We would very like to change our bedsheets, it's kinda bit dusty and I have allergy to it" you shrug with your eyes saying "Please"
The school's staff stares at you and Eddie, grabs the walkie-talkie and says "I need a room service at-" looks at you for an answer
"Room 203" you say
"Thank you for alerting us, call us and you know where to find us, if you have any more concern" gestures at the school staff office just around the corner
"Yes, Thank you so much" you say as you both watch the school staff walk away
"Phew! That was close" you wiped the slight sweat from your forehead
"Why'd you do that?" He furrows his brows as he scans your whole face
"You're not as bad as I think I thought you would be, so, I'm sorry for like thinking of you that way" you smile tight-lipped, ducking your head down at him
A warm smile grows on his lips "Hey, it's alright, I told you, there's no hard feelings here"
"I suppose we can start over?"
"Sure, we can" he replies, as he starts to walk back to your room, you follow him walking beside
The whole dorm hall is noisy, lots of parents saying goodbyes to their daughters and sons, a group of friends screaming at each other as they celebrate for god knows what, packages and luggages everywhere
You and him start maneuvering towards the pile of stuff on every each of the room, as you both reach back at the place where you both was before
He lets you go in first, he starts carrying his things again and grunts as he puts them all down
He closes the door, he winces at the sound on going noise outside, he sighs the moment he heard the bird chirping in the window
You and him both faces crumpled up at the sound on the next room, loud banging and table screeching on the floor
You both turned around to face each other and laugh at the same time when you both have the same look
"Couldn't they get any more louder?" You joke
"The walls are thin, I'm afraid" he sarcastically says
He's right, the walls are too thin and you can hear other people's conversation if they're wouldn't be so loud about it
"You know what, I'm a bit peckish, you want to come with me?" Eddie says as he puts his hands on to his pockets as he waits for you to answer
You look over to your unfinished packing and it's been hours since you arrived and it's not bad to take a break from it
"Yeah, sure, Eddie" you say as you grab your small sling bag
"I feel really bad not knowing your name" he says as you go down the stairs
"It's Y/N"
"Ooh great name"
"Thanks, my dad gave it to me"
He nods and smiles at you as you both go inside the café, it's the only one that is near in the university, you breathe in the aroma of coffee in the air
"I assume you're a musician?" He lets you go in first again in the line
"Yeah, I am" he digs out to his pocket for his wallet
"What can I get for you? Miss?"
"One Alfredo Pasta and One Iced Caramel Macchiato, large"
"I'll have the Breakfast Platter and a Hot Cold Sweet Foam Drink, large as well, please"
"Breakfast Platter, huh?" you comment as you ready for your payment
"It's the Breakfast of Champions" he says as he made a rock n roll sign at you aggressively that it made you laugh
You both take turns on conversations about yourself and him
"I have a band back at home" he says as he chews on the Hungarian sausage
"No, shit?!" you swallow as you twirl your fork on the pasta
He chuckles "Yeah, I've always wanted to have a band of my own, we're on a break for moment because, you know, I chose Bachelor Of Arts in Music, we need to go for college and stuff" he says as he ates the scrambled eggs with waffles
"I get that, you miss them, don't you?" You say as you put the twirled pasta on your mouth
Eddie isn't homesick of the town that hates him, he is homesick because of the people that he love and care for are in it
"Yes, I do" he smiles for a moment as he remembers the memories back in Hawkins, he begins "How about you?"
"For starters, I love animation ever since I was a kid, that why I took Bachelor in Digital Arts"
He smirks at your Alice In Wonderland wallet that he saw earlier "That's why you have so many Disney related in your room"
"Oh that" you chuckled "Yeah, I am unashamedly being myself"
You're shocked at how he encourages you in that "As you should! Never let anyone else change you because you're different from them, Just be who you are, you will attract the right people for you"
"Like you?" You smirk at him and he laughs while holding to his chest
"Yeah, just like me"
"I'm starting to like you, Eddie"
"Likewise, Y/N" he winks at you and you rolled your eyes playfully
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
You always laugh a little whenever you remember the memory of your blossoming friendship together back then
You're both at 3rd year and your goal is to graduate together
You and him made acquaintances over the years of the studying in the university
In overtime, it seems like it always ends up the both of you hanging out together
It also feels natural and if you look back of what you think of him again, you wouldn't believe yourself that you're bestfriends with a rockstar
You made the perfect decision of not letting him go in the first place, you found a great friend and a real friend that you know you can count on
You will always choose him over than some douchebags, you love that he doesn't mind you about being yourself, he even listens genuinely to your rambles about what you love the most, you couldn't be more grateful that you have a bestfriend like him
When you fell asleep on your desk, he always carries you into bed without any malice, you feel safe around him
Sometimes when there's no classes, others will go out and get drunk, meanwhile you and him would rather spend the entire night watching films and gush about it afterwards
He's so sweet when you find out waking up falling asleep on his bed, tucked in with his blanket, when you accidentally crash in there after a long exhausting day, you found him sleeping on your bed
You and him grow more and more close, giving each other's hugs, he even lays his head onto your lap while you're reading your textbook, he sometimes fell asleep in there and you always let him, he even lets you wear his bandshirt clothes when you ran out of clothes to wear especially when the damn washing machine in the basement always turns out to be out of order, you're gonna cross over the other side of the road just to wash your clothes sometimes you're too tired to do that
He always helps you to general cleaning your dorm room, he is so helpful and doesn't even complain about it, he just knows what to do without you telling him what to do
Your parents met him, they thought, he was your boyfriend and you know it that he is biting back a huge fit of laughter
You snickered slightly when you couldn't help it
You finally met Wayne, he visits when the sembreak begins, he likes you, he frowns a little bit when he finds out that you and him are not dating, either way he still loves you
"I would love to come with you and visit your hometown someday, Eds"
"Sure thing" he smiles at you
"And also I want to watch you perform!"
"My dear, he brings the best shows ever" Wayne says to you throwing his hands up in such admiration
"Oh my god?! I need to see it immediately!"
Eddie suddenly grows shy and he keeps saying "Wayne, come on, don't embarrass me"
"I'm not embarrassing you, I'm just so proud of what you become, my boy"
He became flustered and started fiddle with his rings "But you already seen me play, sweetheart"
"Yeah? Playing your guitar in our dorm room doesn't count"
"You really wanted to see me play so bad, huh?" He taunts
"I really do, like hello?!? It's my first time to have bestfriend like you! Eddie!" You annoyingly exclaimed
"Okay, fine maybe on Holiday's, You will visit my hometown and see me play with my band"
"Yes!" You cheered on excitement and Eddie just laughs on your enthusiasm
"But what about your family? Hon? Don't you celebrate your Christmas with them?"
"Well, they say I could go spend anywhere that I want this time.... so" you shrug
"So, it's a plan then!" Eddie mirrored your excitement
"Yeah" you grin at him and Wayne just smiles as he both watch you gawking about the plans for upcoming holidays
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Your parents gifted you, a new sets of clothes to wear and other things after they visited you on sembreak
You're ready, you're now settled to go with Eddie in Hawkins in the holidays
For as long as you can remember, you never have friends that takes this long, you always get used to seasonal friendships that didn't last longer than your new found friendship with Eddie
"Are you decent? sweets?" He says before he enters the room
You try to smooth out the crease of your short skirt and your loose long sleeved off shoulder top with cute designs on the front, you were your Nike's
"Yeah- I'm good" you respond
He dramatically taken aback "Wow, you look ravishing"
"Pfft, shut up, Munson" you say as you sling your bag around your shoulder as you double check the dorm room to see if you missed any important to bring
"No, I'm serious!" He holds his hands up
"You're never serious about anything, Eds" you put your hand around your waist and narrow your eye on him
"Well, that's true, but I meant what I said back there" he places his hand on his heart with a puppy look on his eyes
"You're only serious when you're so focused on your music sheet for Mr. Hudson" you start teasing him
He squeals at the mention of his professor's name and it made you cackle
"Jesus, that man was no joke, Y/N- he was scary!" He shudders
"Yeah, it looks like it" you jokingly said not looking at him as you check around once more
"If I never passed that project, I wouldn't have a Christmas vacation"
"I remember the fear on your face when you carefully look at the grade of your project"
He scoffs at you as he shakes his head
"It turns out that you passed! You're too hard on yourself and you worry so much- good thing you have a friend like me to take care of your drama" you roll your eyes at him as he drops his jaw at your words
"I'm the dramatic one here?!" He says with a unbelievable tone on his voice
"Yes, you are, Eds" you wink at him teasingly
"Yeah, says who cries while watching The Lion King"
You turned around to face him annoying expression sitting on your face
You want to wipe that smug look on his face
"It was emotional!"
"It was emotional!" He mocks you as he sniggers
You scoff at his action and you walk away from him, not responding at him because he irritates you
You hand up the dorm room keys and you shake it and it makes a sound a clinking keys and he turns off the light, checks the bathroom, and closes and locks door on his way out while you're leaning your back in the wall outside as you wait for him
"Aww, don't get too mad at me, sweetheart" he says as he put his hands together on a playful smile
One thing about Eddie is that you can't fight off the smile that is coming to your lips whenever he tries to brighten up your mood
"I will if you refuse to watch Disney movies with me, it's still on" you say pointedly as he puts his arms around your shoulder as he leans in to kiss your on top of your head
Eddie walked you inside of his van, helps you get up on his passenger seat
"So? What do you think?"
"I like your RV, it's nice"
"Wait- til' you see the rest of my family" he beams at you and there's such happiness filling into his eyes
If you're excited he is much more excited like you do too
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
You both left the university early because you know it would be a long ride but it wouldn't be so boring because you have your bestfriend
He stops over to a gas station and thank goodness, there's a different restaurants to choose from
He doesn't wanna wake you up, you're so peacefully sleeping and he knows that you haven't been sleeping a lot lately since you're too excited for this road trip with him
He goes down and orders two cheeseburgers with fries and two vanilla milkshakes
He keeps glancing at the window to check on you
He goes back to the driver's seat and puts the two vanilla milkshakes on the cupholders and puts the brown paper bag on his lap
He holds your cheek carefully, he caresses it slightly patting it to wake you up
You groan around to face him, your eyes fluttering open, you feel a bit dizzy since you haven't ate anything yet, your stomach growls at the smell that lingers inside of the vehicle
"Join me, darling?" He flashes you a cheeky smile as he holds up the brown paper bag and a milkshake
You giggle as you rub your eyes, he hands you the cheeseburger
You and him both ate in comfortable silence
With his mouth full he says "We're like maybe in a half a mile now but still it's gonna be like a long drive, so, I suggest if you need something you better do it now"
"How many hours that we are in?"
"My guess is maybe 3 hours or 4 hours I think?"
You check your watch, you guys left in 7am and it's 10am already
"Oh, we're on the road for 4 hours now"
"Hmm, are you getting bored now?" He jokes
"No, not really, I like it, it's peaceful"
"I wish there's some more people like you" he says
"Why is that?"
"I don't know- other people will be like whining about how far it is and you're just like-"
"Like what?
"you're enjoying it"
You laughed "Of course! I'm enjoying! who do you think I am?!?"
"You're Y/N?"
"No, silly! I'm your bestfriend!" You hold his hand and his heart warms at your touch
"As long as I'm with you, whenever I'm with you, I will never be bored of every single thing we do, even with the normal stuff like this!" You point out to the steaming cheeseburger
He chuckles at your gesture as he takes a sip of his sweet beverage
"Never, huh?"
"Never ever will be, Eds" you squeeze his hands for reassurance as you both continue to eat your food
Eddie watches you as you sigh in content while eating cheeseburger and he always likes to watch you eat your fave combo
Dipping the french fries in the milkshake
You're so unreal, he never thought he could make another friend like you
You crumpled up the foil as you finished eating your cheeseburger as you throw it back on the brown paper bag
You told him you're going to the restroom even you told him a million times that you can go there by yourself but you know him- he wouldn't let you go alone, so you just brush it off and stop with the endless debating
He is so protective of you and it just really makes you happy
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
The drive to Hawkins has been the most calming and really refreshing thing ever
You popped a music tape inside as you await for his reaction
He is never been so mean about to your tastes, it was just not really his thing, and you love him for that, just vibes along with you even isn't much of a bigger fan like you
The song starts and it's The Zombies - Time Of The Season
"No fucking way!" he laughs in disbelief while tapping his fingers along with beat on the steering wheel
You start swaying from your seat as you ask him "What?"
"You listen to this?!"
"Why? Is it bad?"
"No! It's just- sorry, sweets, it wasn't what I expected"
"Aside from me being a Disney fan, There's a hidden rockstar underneath" you wink at him and he just laughs more
"Well, aren't you just full of surprises"
"You shouldn't be surprised at this point, I wouldn't be listening to your hard rock music back in the dorm if I didn't like it, you know" you say as you sing along to the song
"Dang, I should've known, could've at least taken a note from it" he pretends to think deeply and it you start laughing
You both take turns singing along to the song as he tries to mimick some of the singers voices and it makes you giggle
🎶As he taken?
Anytime?
To show
To show you what you need to live
Tell me to slowly
Tell you what
I really want to know
It's the time of the season of loving🎶
He bops his head at the instrumental part and you start to dance onto your seat
It just feels everything, you never felt this much happier, shared laughs, sing-along, eating together
Eddie is the bestfriend you could ever ask for
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
You saw the sign "Welcome To Hawkins" and you scream gleefully, you glance on your watch it's 3pm
Eddie laughs at your reaction as he says "Don't hurt yourself we're almost there"
The time you arrived in the Forest Hill Trailer Park
There's a bunch of kids roaming around the area, There's three guys that match the same shirt that you saw with Eddie that says "Hellfire Club", you assume that is Jeff, Gareth and Chris his bandmates, they look even better in person
On the other side there's 5 people that might be just as the same as your age, you thank to god that Eddie introduce them to you while you're looking around his photo album back in the dorm
Nancy, Robin, Jonathan and Argyle and Steve....the sight of him distracts you, he is hella attractive, Eddie didn't lie about him, you finally saw the marvelous hair that he has, it looks really good you can't deny it
You're too shy to compliment your bestfriend sometimes, he always made you feel pretty but you never gotten the chance to say that he is also looks so handsome
You assume the kids are Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Max, Erica, Jane and Will
"They're gonna love you, I give you my word, sweetheart" as if he can read your mind he pats your shoulder as he smiles at you
"Thanks, Eddie"
"No problem" he says, he take one last look at you before he goes down to meet his friends
Your heart flutters at the sweet reunion
"Hey, guys!"
"Eddie!"
The kids run to hug him as if he can hug them all the once entirely, they crowded him, you can barely see his posture, the only thing you can see from him is his massive brown locks of hair
"I miss you too" he says to each one of them
"How are you, man?" He made a handshake to the man that he told you his another bestfriend, Steve Harrington
You thought he couldn't be more attractive in pictures but to see him in the flesh, makes you even more nervous, there's a slight butterflies on your stomach with the way you see him smile
My god, there's no way you're crushing to his highschool bestfriend
You slowly open your the door and you walk towards them, all of them are extremely loud and you're gonna get used to that a lot from now on
Eddie heard the door open and he turns to you, they went silent and you can feel the stares taking you all in
Eddie gladly put his arms around you as they await
"Guys, This is Y/N, my freaking bestfriend in college, she's awesome" he proudly saids as he leans in more to squeeze you makes you feel less nervous
His bandmates groan, when they thought you're Eddie's girlfriend, Jeff won the bet you overheard Gareth and Chris start bickering with each other
All of them start walking towards you
"Hi! I'm Dustin! Dustin Henderson, did he tell you I'm his favorite bestfriend?" He raises his eyebrow
"Er- Yeah he did?" You look up to Eddie for help and he whispers "I got you"
"Henderson, There's no competition to who is the best" Eddie says as he stands closer to Dustin
"But it's the truth right?"
"Nah, Jeff is my first mate" he teases as he rans off away from Dustin as he follows him
"Oh my god, ever since he is such a dork!" You exclaimed while giggling
"I know right?!- Oh it's Robin, Robin Buckley" she says as she aggressively shakes your hand
Another girl coming in your way as she laughs at your confusion in your face "That's when you know you're talking to Robin, She's always energetic- I'm Nancy, Nancy Wheeler" she points out the guy with checkered polo "That's my boyfriend"
"it's a pleasure to meet you both"
"Hey, new girl! What can you say about Hawkins?" A long haired guy with a Surfer Boy's Pizza cap speaks up to your side, Nancy clears her throat
"Oh right, I'm Argyle" he gently shakes your hand
"And I'm Jonathan Byers, and that boy over there is my brother" he grins at you
"Hey, don't steal my introduction!" Will shouts as he comes to your direction from where you standing
"Sorry about that, I'm Will, Will Byers" he is such a charming kid, he smiles at you while shaking your hand
"Oh yeah, you're the one that Eddie told me that you love to paint right?"
Will smiles that reaches to his ear "Yes, you got that right! That's me! So you like art too?"
"Are you kidding? I love art!" You and Will both raving about each other's interests
"We got a geeks under the loose" Robin smirks
"There's more where that came from, Hello, I'm Lucas, Lucas Sinclair" he shakes your hand
"And I'm Max, Max Mayfield, I'm his girlfriend"
Lucas whispers to you "Don't ever call her, Maxine"
"What's that?"
"Nothing"
You giggle at them
"I'm Erica, Erica Sinclair, I'm Lucas sister" judging by the tone of her voice, she is very sassy, you don't want to mess with her
"You're very pretty" a voice so soft it sounds like it was a whisper, you turn around to look for the girl and it falls down on the cute but also very beautiful
"Oh? T-thank you"
"I'm Jane, Jane Hopper" she says with a kind smile
Another boy comes to her side as he intertwines his fingers with her "I'm Mike, Mike Wheeler, I'm her boyfriend, I guess you already meet my big sister, Nancy"
You nod at him "Yeah, she is very sweet"
Jeff, Gareth and Chris are the next ones to introduce themselves to you
Jeff is the first one to shake your hand while two are sniggering behind his back
"Hi! I'm Jeff and I play the bass guitar for- he offers his hand to shake hands with you
"Corroded Coffin" you smile as you take his his hand
"See? No wonder, my guy loves you" Jeff says to his friends
"Too bad they aren't together" the one with curly short haired guy with red and black checkered jacket
Jeff nudges him "Ow! Okay I'm sorry- I'm Gareth, I play the drums" he sloppily shakes your hand but you don't mind it anyways
"I'm Chris, I play the rhythm guitar, it's very nice to meet you"
"You too" you smile at them
"Got that all in your head, Y/N?" Robin laughs when you take a minute to look at all of them
"Yeah, I can remember all of you"
"There's one more that you missed though"
You tense up, that voice, you already knew who it is
You turn around your eyes fall for the ultimate heartthrob, you quote Eddie's words inside your head
You gasp a little, he's even more pretty up close
"I'm Steve, Steve-"
"Harrington"
"Yeah, I know who you are"
He chuckles, he looks right on your shoulder he runs his thumbs over your knuckles as he warmly shakes it
Oh, you feel might faint for any second now
"I hope I get a good first impression" he says, his hold on you he lets it linger for awhile until you before you can turn around to see where he's looking at- It's Eddie
"Are you okay? Sweetheart?"
"Y-yeah, I'm fine, I'm just a bit overwhelmed"
Overwhelmed by his bestfriend's beauty
"Oof, I'm so sorry about that Y/N" Nancy apologizes but you wave her off
"No- it's okay, I'm really happy to finally meet you all I know this place really means so much to Eddie" you smile to look up to Eddie who is already staring at you with a smile on his face
All of his friends smiles at you and him
"We should probably get going now" Jonathan says
"Yeah, I bet you both are begging for a good night's sleep because I am" Argyle yawns and you chuckle
All of the kids bid their goodbyes to Eddie, telling him they will visit as they can, Nancy hugs you before she leaves with Jonathan, Robin told you that Steve is crushing on you, you refused to believe, it's the first time you met him, she made it sound like-
Love at first sight?!?
Unbelievable, There's no way, you shake off at the thought, the last person to go home is his bandmates
You feel like they're up to something as you heard them snickering away from Eddie the moment you appear
"Where's Wayne? By the way?"
"Oh, he works at night and comes home by the morning, but I already told him that you're spending the holidays with us... so"
You hum in response, you look around the trailer, you smile in delight when you eye the mug collection
He carries his duffel bag and your knapsack inside
"What do you think of my family?"
You like that term that he uses, he treasures his people so lovely
"They're really great, Eddie, I love them already" you smile at him
"I told you so, they're going to love you as much as you love them!" He says as he shrugs off his jacket
"Got anything else in mind for dinner? We could call for food delivery, if you want" he checks the refrigerator, we need to do some groceries, he thinks to himself
It's very embarrassing to not have anything at the moment since you're his guest
"I really don't mind at all, Eddie, but Pizza would be good"
Eddie might get scared of how you easily read his mind like that- he'll do the same thing to you- it's like you're both think alike
"Pizza, sounds nice" he says as he closes the refrigerator door and headed towards the telephone
"I assume, Pepperoni and A&W?" A smile tugs on his lips
"You know me so well, Eds" you flop down on the couch as you lean in
He shrugs as his expression looks like he's saying "Can't help it"

You thought your feeling of getting "merry" on Christmas Eve was long gone but you finally bought back to it
The celebration happened at Steve's house, the house looks so freaking expensive as your curious eyes look around at the beautiful interior design of his home
You didn't know that Steve from afar is watching you with a smile on his face
Everyone is there, full of enormous Christmas decorations everywhere, the dinner was so joyful that your cheeks hurt for too much smiling
You went home with so much blissful feeling with Eddie, throughout the entire evening he's making sure you're not missing out
"You look astonishingly good, Eds"
Eddie raises his eyebrows to your compliment, you've never complimented him before
"I know- it's a shocker" you say as you drop yourself onto the couch and let out a deep sigh when the soft cushion hits the spot on your back
"Why, thank you my friend" he says with a British accent, you snorted
He takes the seat beside you while putting his arm over you as you rest your head on his chest
"So, what do we do now?"
"Hmm, okay so, you made me try Scoops Ahoy, Surfer's Boy Pizza, I finally saw you played with your band at The Hideout which is super freaking insane!" He laughs at your words as he squeezes you
You went silent for a bit as he swings his head to look at you
You look over to your lists for christmas activities, you lift up your head and turn around to face him, you grin devilishly at Eddie, he can't ignore the mischief from your eyes
He's taken aback at your expression as he finally catch up to what is going on
"Oh no, it's not-"
"Yeah- it is! Today is the date!"
"This is a nightmare!" As he remove his arm around you making your head hit the cushion hardly it made your head bounce
You tutted "God- don't be such a killjoy! Eddie! Come on- it's gonna be a lot of fun! It's like watching films-"
"Yeah, but in animation" he groans
"I said while we're here I told you, we're gonna have a Disney marathon with a mug of hot chocolate in our hands!"
Eddie facepalmed at your words as if he is making the hardest decision on his life
He stands up and ignores for a minute of your protest
"Eddie Munson! You made a promise to me!" You held up your pinky finger to him
He chuckles "It's not metal!" he reasons with you
"There's some metal in it- why'd-" you give up to argue more as you shook your head at him
"Why don't you just try? Please? For me? It's my first Christmas here and I want all of the activities we made are memorable as possible" you say as you pout at him
He turns back to look at you and thinks for a moment, he blinks "Alright, alright, fine!" he groans in frustration
He goes back sitting beside your with his arms crossed
You put the Fox and The Hound you smirk to yourself as you testing the waters to see if he gets lost in the film
Eddie "The Cryer" Munson, your bestfriend, you made him cry so bad as he grips on the pillow shakily weeping
You already seen this film and it never fails to make you cry again, you swallow a laughter from your throat as you watch Eddie sobs beside you
You hand him over the box of tissues as he blows his nose while still crying in the process
"What the hell did I ever do to you, Y/N?" He turns to face you with stains of tears from his eyes and a bit swollen
You finally let out your suppressed laugh as you pick few pieces of tissues as well "Who's the dramatic one, now?" You smirk
He glares at you as he sniffles when the credits starts to roll
"You have some more?" He says
"More of what?"
"Disney movies!"
Oh, you got him right in your claws, he is invested and hooked
The look of stunned in your face makes him impatient
"Have you seen Atlantis : The Lost Empire?"
He shakes his head
"How about Hercules?"
"No"
"Please, don't tell me you haven't seen Brother Bear" you close your eyes as you peek your left eye out
His nose scrunches up "Yeah, definitely haven't seen anything from what you just mentioned"
"Eddie, what are you doing?!?" You snap at him
"I-I'm watching Disney movies w-with you?" He confusingly answers
"No- I'm saying why in the world you haven't seen them all yet?!?"
He laugh out loud "Okay, well maybe I have seen one and only one that is special"
"And that is?"
"Peter Pan"
You gasp "No kidding? That's a Disney classic!"
"Yeah- Wayne rented a VHS of it for my 7th birthday"
"Aww" you pinched his cheeks
He chuckles as he pushed your arm playfully
"Just make yourself comfortable because I already set the greatest animation films of all time!" You told him proudly as you cross out the first film that you watch on your list
"I think we're even now" he gives your hot chocolate, your wide-eyes darts back and forth in the thermos that he mysteriously hide and prepared earlier
"Oh, Eddie! You're such an amazing bestfriend!" You squealed in excitement
He laughed at Emperor's New Groove
He got traumatized by Cruella DeVill in 101 Dalmatians
He loved the friendship in Zootopia and the message behind the film
While Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas starts playing he says
"Now, this is metal" he says as he jams into the song as he ates the jumbo white squishy marshmallow
"Told you, this would be fun" you say as you crunch a buttered popcorn on your mouth
Eddie turns to face you as he tries to say something but he wants to let you know that he is eternally grateful for this friendship
"Hey, Y/N"
You're chewing as you lick the butter from your fingertips "Yeah?"
"Can I have a sec?"
"Oh, sure" you reach down for the remote and pause it
"I just wanted to say that I'm so happy and truly thankful that you're here with me, you know, letting me into your life, being your friend and it's just-" he breathy laughs "I just can't believe a made another friend, not just a friend, a real one."
Your eyes shines so much filled with joy as you flash a fond smile at him
"Me too, Eddie, I've been dying to talk to you as well never gotten the chance but here we are" you shrug as he took your hand to hold it
"You know, I haven't told anyone about this but I was so scared of my first day at college because it's such a cultural shock to me, the new environment and the reason why I'm so terrified of failing on one of my subjects because Wayne worked his ass off to get me to college and I don't want to let him down" he blink back the tears on his eyes
"I thought I wouldn't able to make friends because that's not Hawkins anymore, it's a different place, out of my comfort zone, as much as I hated the town has given to me"
You hold his hand tighter as he moves closer to you
Back in the University, you can tell he's having a hard time to open up to you and you don't want to push him for it
"I was blamed for something that I didn't do and my whole life I've been called as a town freak, yeah I've taken every shitty thing in that school, the bullies, the hate and all of that nasty shit" he angrily huffs
"You don't deserve that Eddie and I believe you've done nothing wrong"
"You do?"
"Yeah, Eds, you just continue to be unapologetically yourself and you shouldn't be ashamed of what you truly are"
You genuinely smile at him , you're honest he likes you for that
From that moment, Eddie knew that he had found another purest soul just like him
"I didn't mention to you before, that I hardly make any friends that stays with me"
"You're crazy, right?"
You chuckled "I'm serious! For the 20 years of my life, you're the only one that remained this long like this is the most longest friendship that I ever had"
"And I'm going to make it last, no wait- scratch that" he pauses
"We're going to make the most of it" he says as he starts to embrace you
You pulled back to look at him "I feel awful for not asking how you feel back in the University, I wish I could've at least help you out with your thoughts" you placed your hands on his shoulders with a concern look on your eyes
He smiles widely at your words "I knew I was right about you"
"About what?"
"My bestfriend"
You flash out a cheesy grin at him as you hug him back again
You're both back at being bestie shenanigans again
"I've heard this rumor about you having a crush on my bestfriend?"
"Who?" You ask dumbly
"You know who" he remarks with a raised eyebrow
"Steve Harrington?" He says as he nudges you in the elbow, with a playful smirk on his face
You scoffed at him as you laugh "Knock it off! Eds, now pay attention at the movie" ignoring the way your stomach flutters at the mention of his name
You both sat together as Sally and Jack sang their song together while he moves forward as he take in the most pleasing scene
"Do you have more?! I need more!"
"Oh my god, what have I done to you" you say as you search for more Disney films that he haven't seen yet
This will go on all night and you couldn't even more happier spending Christmas Eve with your bestfriend

‘Blood?’ Eddie says again.
Eyes black but for the slice of iridescent white in the centre. His teeth are sharp, his hands are weapons and Steve thinks maybe he’s made a mistake doing this without telling Eddie first. Eddie’s focus lowers, it moves to his left hand which is…
Oh fuck.
It’s dripping blood onto the floor.
‘Shit,’ Steve says, takes a single step back, swallows. ‘Eddie, I’m so sorry, fuck.’
Eddie can’t seem to look away, can’t bring his ethereal gaze back up where it belongs. Steve thinks he should run, he should flee. A tiny part of him knows Eddie will chase him. Eddie will catch him, outrun him easily.
It's more than a little fucked up how that thrills him.
A Sign of The Morning by ToEdenandBackAgain
Vecna is dead. The Upside Down is cut off from Hawkins yet again. Steve is trying to go back to normal, whatever that is. He's also trying to figure out exactly how Eddie Munson has managed to fit so easily into his life.
Keep It Steady, Eddie by outofmygourd
Eddie Munson doesn't mind working at the Family Video Store. It's a nice sense of normalcy (not to mention money) and he gets to see Robin more because of it. However, between working together and sharing the same best friend, he's also been seeing a lot more of Steve Harrington.
He wants nothing more than to enjoy mindless fun with his friends now that everything with Vecna is over, but Eddie's finding it hard to move on from what happened. Even if the strangest thing in his life right now was simply the fact he and Steve Harrington might actually be friends.
The One in Which a Time Loop is Fucking Exhausting by badpancake
It’s the first time in a while that he doesn’t know what comes next. He’s dove into the water hundreds of times. Screamed as his flesh was torn apart, heard Master of Puppets in the distance and held back tears. Felt Max’s cold, small hand in his as she laid in the hospital bed. There are things that always happen, no matter how hard he tries: El doesn’t arrive in time. Eddie dies. Max is put in a coma.
Steve fails. They lose.
“Steve, how many loops have you been through?”
His head is nodding, and his eyes are watery, and Eddie has approached him like a spooked animal.
“I lost count.”
AKA: The one where Steve Harrington is stuck in a time loop, and Eddie Munson is really fucking hard to save, or: fuck Volume 2, these bitches are in love.
Flight Risk by Ayes and itskleo
Eddie Munson is famous for giving his bodyguards the slip. Enter Steve Harrington. Has this bratty rock star finally met a babysitter that can keep up with him? too good to be true by Ayes (again, what a legend)
When Eddie sees Steve in a gay bar, he decides to seduce him and break his heart as revenge for what an asshole Steve was in high school. Steve, who was only at the bar to support Robin, is taken aback by the attention but finds himself under Eddie’s spell. And Eddie, to his growing unease, discovers that Steve Harrington is actually everything he’s ever wanted.

finally safe for me to fall - chapter 1
hello! this is my first chapter for my new steddie fic, and I am so SO excited to start posting it!
read on ao3
Summary: Eddie Munson is trapped in a life where he feels like a burden. He needs a purpose, someone to take care of.
Enter Steve Harrington, father of twin girls, who is in desperate need of someone to take care of his daughters, and maybe himself.
Warnings for this chapter: swearing
Words: 3.7k
The collar of the stiff button-down scratches at Eddie’s neck. He has the unflinching urge to reach up and scratch, but that hardly feels appropriate right now, especially given the itch is coming from somewhere close to his mating gland. Despite being in an otherwise empty room, he knows that there are people milling about somewhere beyond these walls, and he’d be embarrassed as hell if one of them came back to find him itching at his neck like some kind of diseased freak.
Okay, maybe he’s projecting. Maybe that’s a very normal thing to do, and he’s just so out of tune with being around people that he can’t get everything together in his brain. Yeah, maybe that’s it.
He’s still deliberating about the stupid tag or string, or whatever it is that itches, when the door swings open. Eddie’s not proud of the way he jumps at the sound.
A woman stands there, well-dressed and business-like, a kind smile on her face. “Mr. Munson, correct?”
Eddie stands, subtly wiping his hand on his jeans before offering it for a handshake. “Yes, that’s me.”
The woman smiles at him, a twitch of her lips like she’s amused by his gesture, but she takes his hand nonetheless. “Great. Mr. Harrington wanted me to apologize for the delay, his meeting dragged on a little bit longer than he expected. He’s ready to see you now, if you’ll just follow me.”
Eddie nods, reaching behind himself to grab the only two items he brought with him to this interview, his leather jacket and a file folder that contains one measly sheet of paper masquerading as his resume. It’s not super impressive, so he’s hoping his thoughtful presentation of it will make up the gap.
As he follows the young woman down a series of corridors, she introduces herself. “I’m Robin, Steve’s assistant.”
“Nice to meet you,” Eddie says politely. He racks his brain for an appropriate question to ask her, of the job, the potential employer, anything. The only thing he comes up with is, “So, what does Mr. Harrington do? This is a, uh…” He glances around them at the opulence, trying to find the right word for it all. “A very prestigious-looking place.”
Robin snorts. The sound, so out of place in the stark white hallways smelling of rich lavender and patchouli, startles a small giggle out of Eddie, and immediately puts him at ease. “He’s the CFO of this company. I couldn’t even begin to explain to you what all the company does, all I know is they buy a bunch of smaller ones and sell them off, and I think maybe manage the ones worth keeping?” Robin shrugs, then leans into Eddie with a voice like she’s telling a secret. “I wouldn’t bother asking him either, he’s tried explaining the logistics of it all to me for years and I still have no clue what he’s talking about half of the time.”
Eddie laughs at that. “Right.” He nods. “Thanks for the tip,” he whispers back.
His guide grins at him, coming to a stop at a large oak door at the end of a hallway. There’s a nameplate directly next to the door, and the name Steve Harrington glints at him in bold, gold-plated letters. That sign alone probably cost more than all of Eddie’s personal belongings, he thinks bitterly.
“Alright. Steve’s a little scatterbrained sometimes, so don’t be alarmed if he asks you something like, four times,” Robin says, gesturing to her head with a vague fluttering finger. She drops her voice before speaking again. “He did mention that you were like, at the top of his list of candidates, so try not to be too nervous, okay?” She smiles, like that’s supposed to be encouraging.
Eddie feels like he’s going to puke. That’s possibly the last thing he wanted to hear, and if anything, he’s even more anxious than before, knowing the man already has expectations of him. “Right,” he says, straightening his shirt out nervously, reaching up and ensuring that all his frizzy hair is still tucked neatly into the bun he’d crafted earlier. “And you’re positive he’s okay with a male omega applying to be the nanny of his kids? He knows that, right?”
Robin smiles, but something glints in her eyes like she knows something he doesn’t. “Positive. You’re gonna do great, Eddie.”
Before Eddie can even question how she could be so sure of such a thing, Robin is leaning past him and rapping her manicured fist against the wood, twice, three times. “Steven, your eleven o’clock is here,” she calls out politely.
Eddie is going to pass out, he’s so goddamn nervous.
“Send him in,” a voice calls from behind the door.
Robin reaches for Eddie’s wrist, squeezing gently. “Good luck,” she whispers quietly before stepping back, gesturing Eddie forward.
He takes a deep breath, then grabs the handle, embarrassed at how his sweaty hand sticks against the cool metal. He clears his throat, then enters the room.
The first thing he notices is the amount of natural light. It doesn’t take long to pinpoint the culprit, a massive wall of windows situated just opposite the heavy oak door, which closes gently behind him as he steps into the room. The next thing his eyes flick to is the massive desk just in front of those windows, and then to the man standing directly in front of that desk.
He’s tall, probably six-foot at least, and lean, his body one long, gorgeous line leaning back on his desk, his hands tucked casually into the pockets of his charcoal gray trousers. He’s got a white, expensive-looking button down tucked into those trousers, a blazer that matches his pants hugging his arms and shoulders nicely. Eddie’s eyes travel up the length of him in a couple of seconds, but it feels like hours in the quiet stillness of the room. Then his eyes meet soft brown ones, and he knows immediately that he’s fucked.
“Hey there. I’m Steve, you must be Edward?” The man says politely, stepping forward and holding his hand out for a polite, business-like handshake.
And fuck. Either the man doesn’t believe in scent-blockers or they just aren’t fucking strong enough, because as soon as he steps forward, Eddie is engulfed in the scent of soft vanilla, the most homely, comforting scent he’s ever had the pleasure of smelling, he’s sure. There’s something underneath it, too, something a bit stronger, almost like a bourbon, and Eddie immediately knows this man has got to be pure alpha. No other designation would smell that good to him, he’s almost sure of it.
He realizes, belatedly, that Steve is still waiting for him to move. Great. Now he looks like an idiot.
“Eddie.” His own voice surprises him, and he gives himself a mental high-five for being able to speak without sounding like an absolute fool, when internally, he’s screaming. “I go by Eddie,” he elaborates when Steve quirks an eyebrow, returning the handshake and praying his hand isn’t still sweaty.
“Alright, Eddie,” Steve says with a smile. He gestures to the chairs in front of his desk. “Please, have a seat.” He steps back to his desk, and Eddie expects him to go behind it to his own chair, so he’s a little surprised when instead, Steve takes the seat adjacent to Eddie’s. “Do you mind if I sit here? I hate having a desk between myself and someone else when trying to have an interview. Makes me feel like a douchebag,” Steve jokes.
Eddie nods, filing away the language. So this man clearly isn’t going for an overly-elaborate farce of professionalism. Either he’s just like that, or he’s trying to trick Eddie so he’ll slip up and look like an idiot. He decides to tread carefully, just in case. “Yes, sir, that’s fine with me,” Eddie replies with a nod.
Steve’s face flickers with something vaguely displeased, but he nods. “So, let’s start with the basics. Tell me about yourself.”
God. That dreaded question.
Eddie forces a pleasant smile on his face before he begins speaking. “Well, I’m from a small town not too far from here. I wanted to move to the city for, um… personal reasons.” He hopes the lie isn’t too obvious. He didn’t want to move to the city at all, but Steve doesn’t need to know that. He just needs to be impressed with him and give him a job.
“Sure,” Steve says neutrally, more so just bridging the gap of silence that stretches out after Eddie hesitates. “Where did you work prior to applying for this job?”
Eddie is sure his face is pink. He knew the question was coming, but it still embarrasses him, just a little. He tries to cover it up by glancing down at his file folder, sliding the one sheet of paper out of it and handing it over to Steve with a nervous tremble in his hand. “Um. I’ll be honest, sir, I haven’t had much experience in… this sort of job.”
Steve skims the paper quickly, and Eddie can’t help but watch the way his eyes dart across the page. It’s not much. His education was nothing impressive, just a high school diploma, no college. The work experience wasn’t anything to write home about, either. He had included working at his uncle’s automotive shop, since Wayne had agreed to serve as a reference if he needed it, and since Mrs. Henderson had allowed him to put her down too, he added babysitting to his experience as well. Dustin, the now twenty-year-old baby-to-be-sat in question, probably wouldn’t find the humor in that, but hey, what’s a little fabrication over something that had occurred nearly seven years ago?
“Right,” Steve says, glancing up from the paper to Eddie. “So, this is the only professional experience you’ve had?” He doesn’t sound judgmental, just curious, but Eddie still shrinks in his seat, embarrassed.
“Uh, yes, sir.” He glances down at his hands, cursing himself for not wearing his rings today. He would love to have something to fiddle with right about now. “I, um… Can I speak candidly, sir?”
Steve nods, leaning forward to place the skinny resume on his desk. “Please,” he says, gesturing for Eddie to continue as he sits back, crossing his left ankle over his right knee.
Eddie doesn’t let his eyes wander to where they want to. “Right. Well, I haven’t had… a great couple of years, if I’m honest. I wanted to…” he sighs, shakes his head. Feels stupid before he continues, “I wanted to be a musician, so I’ve spent the past few years out of high school working for my uncle while doing gigs and things on the side, hoping to go somewhere with that.”
Steve perks up, looking interested. “Oh? What sort of music do you play?”
Eddie smirks, almost laughs. “Um, metal,” he says. He hates to be that guy, the one who judges someone’s music taste on their appearance - but come on. The guy had perfectly-styled gelled hair, and a suit that probably cost more than Eddie’s first car. It wasn’t a long shot to guess the guy probably listens to Harry Styles or The Script, some shit like that.
“Ah,” Steve says, giving a vague nod. Bingo, I was right, Eddie thinks coyly. “So… what happened there? Are you giving up on that dream?”
And that… sort of stings. He’s not heard it said so bluntly yet, but Steve, this stranger, has just hit the nail on the head. “Uh, not exactly,” Eddie says, trying hard not to bristle at him. “I’m just… putting it on pause. Considering other options, I guess.”
Steve nods, like that’s a perfectly reasonable thing to do. Eddie can’t explain why, but that irks him a bit. “Okay. So, why this option? Other than babysitting, you didn’t mention any previous child-rearing experience, so why do you want to be a nanny?”
And isn’t that the million dollar question?
Wayne had thought Eddie insane when he told him about this job, excitedly showing him the newspaper clipping like a kid showing off a star sticker on a test. He’d actually asked Eddie if he felt okay, if he was sure this is something he thought he wanted. Eddie understood the concern, since it really wasn’t like him, but…
But the thing is, he’s getting older. He’s already twenty-six, unmated, and no prospects in sight. And after that night, the night his band sort of fell apart, he was hyper-aware of something missing from his life. The idea of a family, however vague it had been before, was plaguing him now, everywhere he went.
He’s not sure how the hell to explain that to Steve, though.
He takes a deep breath, and tries. “I know this is going to sound selfish, but… at my age, I’m not sure I’ll ever have a family of my own. It’s something I want, obviously, but things aren’t really looking good, and it hit me recently that I don’t necessarily have to have it the way everyone expects me to. I just thought…” He shrugs, figuring he’s already shown all his pathetic cards. No point in hiding this one. “I thought that this way, I could at least have that experience of raising children, and be able to enjoy it while I’m still relatively young. And also help out a family who needs the help, of course.” Eddie admittedly tacks on the last part for posterity’s sake, but judging by the look on Steve’s face, it works.
“Huh,” he hums, giving Eddie an appraising look. “Well, I have to say, that’s probably the most unique answer I’ve heard to that question.”
Eddie’s heart sinks. Shit. Did he already blow it? Goddamn it, if he could just learn to keep his mouth shut, then-
“Can you cook? Do basic house chores?” Steve is asking, still looking at Eddie expectantly.
Eddie blinks, then nods, a little confused. Surely if this wasn’t going well, he wouldn’t keep asking questions, right? “Yes sir, I can,” he answers verbally, remembering his manners at the last minute.
Steve nods. “Perfect. My children are in school, so you won’t have to worry about having them there around-the-clock, but I will expect you to do some housekeeping duties while they’re gone during the day. You’ll have your own room, and we can negotiate days off, which you will spend at your leisure, of course.”
Eddie stares at him. “Um. What?” He asks, a little more blunt that he’d intended.
His interruption seems to startle Steve. “Hm? Oh, yes. I’m offering you the job, if you’d like it.”
Again, Eddie stares. “Are you… You don’t have any more questions for me?” Suddenly he’s a little desperate, suffering from emotional whiplash after thinking he’d bombed this just minutes ago, and now he’s being offered the job? What?
Steve blinks at him, his eyebrows crawling up that beautiful, clear forehead. “None really come to mind. Why? Do you think there’s anything I missed?” He sounds vaguely worried, a little crease forming between his eyebrows, like he’s trying to figure it out.
Eddie shakes his head. “No, I just meant - sir, you don’t even know me. And you’re just going to - just offer me the job?”
Steve gives him a look like he’s the strange one. “Um. Yes?” He laughs then, and Eddie hates that he finds the sound so attractive. “That’s kind of how this goes, I think.”
“You don’t want to know anything else about me? If I know CPR, or how to change a diaper, or-” Eddie is well aware he’s rambing, and apparently his self-destructive tendencies run deeper than he could have ever imagined, because here he is, probably ruining his chances of getting this job entirely.
“My children have been out of diapers for years,” Steve interrupts, a small smirk on his lips. “And I can teach you CPR, or how to do any other things you might not know how to do. Being a parent isn’t knowing everything on day one, Eddie. People have to teach you things, and I wouldn’t expect you to know everything.”
Eddie gawks at him. That sounds baffling, coming from the man interviewing him to basically raise his children. A thought pops into his head then. “What about your mate? Would they have more questions for me?”
Steve’s face darkens then, and Eddie instinctively cringes back. Shit.
“I don’t have a mate,” he says evenly, his voice a few degrees colder. “It’s just me and the twins. And, to assuage your concerns, Eddie, I’m not worried about you not having tons of experience. You’re exactly what I’m looking for in this position.”
“And what’s that?” Eddie can’t help but ask.
Steve gives him a little smile. “Well, for starters, you’re an omega, and I want my children to be omega-reared. So that ticks that box.”
For some reason, that sort of rubs Eddie the wrong way, but he swallows it down, nodding. “Okay,” he says neutrally. “And that’s it?”
Steve shakes his head. “No. You’re also smart, polite, and your concern for how I’ve conducted this interview tells me more than any nosy questions ever could. You’re sitting there, terrified that I’m going to put some strange man in charge of my children without even getting to know him first. So I know you’ll be protective of them, and look out for their well-being. That means more to me than whether or not you’ve changed a diaper before, Eddie.”
Eddie sits there, in silent shock. Or maybe, he thinks passively as he studies the easy grin on Steve’s face, maybe it’s awe. He’s in awe of how this man conducted this interview so seamlessly that he learned things about Eddie that Eddie couldn’t have adequately conveyed in any other way. “Oh,” he says dumbly.
Steve gives him a sympathetic little tilt of the head. “And I mean, we’ve already conducted a background check. You can’t really hide anything from me, sweetheart.” He shrugs, like it’s truly as simple as that.
And maybe it is.
Still, Eddie has a few concerns. “Right. So you know all you need to know-”
“For now,” Steve interrupts. He smiles when Eddie gives him a look of astonishment. “I expect I’ll learn more things about you, working together in this capacity. And in getting you trained to take care of my children, I’ll learn what you know and what you don’t know.”
Eddie wants to roll his eyes. All of that feels like semantics, comparatively speaking.
He shrugs instead. “Okay, sure. But… earlier, you said that I’d have my own room… Will I be living with you?” He almost flushes at the idea of it: unmated omega living with an unmated alpha and raising his children? This would be scandalous back in Hawkins, he’s almost positive.
Steve looks surprised that this is Eddie’s main concern. “Well, of course. It would make it far easier on everyone, I think, if you were already living with us. That way your days won’t have to start quite as early, and when I travel - which I do quite a bit - you’ll already be prepared to stay with the children.”
It makes perfect sense when laid out so simply. Eddie nods, satisfied with that explanation for now. His brain catches on another tidbit, and he decides to go ahead and ask. “You said you have twins? Is it just the two of them, or are there others?”
Steve has a conflicted look on his face, pride and sadness all rolled into one as he reaches forward, grabbing a picture frame off his desk and handing it to Eddie. “Yeah, it’s just the two of them.” The picture is cute, the two little girls standing with their arms wrapped around each other’s shoulders, grinning at the camera widely. They look quite a bit like Steve, but their hair is curly.
Eddie smiles at the photo, his heart melting a little. “They’re gorgeous. How old are they?” He glances up at Steve, finds him staring at the photograph with an adoring look.
“They’re six. The one on the left is Ivy, and the one on the right is Jasmine. They’re…” Steve shakes his head, a stupid smile on his face. God, Eddie’s heart hurts. “They’re my whole world.”
Smiling vaguely, Eddie gently sets the photograph back on the desk. He hadn’t actually accepted the job yet, but now he knows… This is what he’s been wanting. This semblance of family, the caring alpha… None of it is really his of course, but his-adjacent is just as good.
“I’d love to accept the job,” he says, finally making eye contact with Steve once more.
Steve grins. He looks visibly relieved, the tension melting from his shoulders almost instantly. “Perfect. Could you come Sunday to get settled in? You’ll start officially on Monday, if you can, but I want to go ahead and get you situated.”
Eddie nods. Today is Thursday, so this works out perfectly. He’s been dying to get out of his uncle’s hair anyway. Living with someone who can barely financially support themself has been difficult these last few years, and having that part of his life finally sorted out is a huge weight off his shoulders. He wonders if it’s a noticeable relief, like Steve’s was.
“That sounds good to me,” Eddie says.
Steve nods, standing up, and Eddie follows. “I’ll get Robin your information so she can send you the address and let you know what time to be there.”
“Alright,” Eddie says, holding his hand out for a final shake. Steve smiles as he takes it, and Eddie pretends he doesn’t notice the way their wrists bump together. Not nearly enough contact to scent each other, but the risk of it is a little exciting. That’ll certainly be something Eddie has to get over before Sunday. He can’t be crushing on his new boss, the father of the children he’ll be raising. That’s just a recipe for disaster.
“Well, it was lovely meeting you, Eddie. I’ll see you on Sunday, okay?” Steve gives his hand a pleasant squeeze before letting go, his hand finding its way to Eddie’s back as he gently guides him to the door.
Eddie nods, his leather jacket still clutched in his hands. “Yes sir, see you then.”
Steve’s face still does that same twitch when he hears that, but he nods, sending Eddie off with a smile and a gentle pat on the back. “Bye, Eddie. Drive safe!”
The door shuts between them, and Eddie almost slumps against it in a mixture of relief, frustration, and disbelief.
He got the job.
His life can finally, finally restart.

Right Where You Left Me (Short Steddie one-shot)
In the late 1980s, in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, two young men, Eddie and Steve, found themselves entangled in a love that would forever change their lives. As the world around them moved on with its usual pace, they discovered an extraordinary connection that went beyond friendship.
Eddie was a dreamer, a gentle soul who poured his heart into music. Steve, on the other hand, was charismatic and popular, excelling in sports and academics. Though their personalities seemed worlds apart, they found solace in each other's arms, sharing secret glances and whispered promises.
But amidst the idyllic moments they cherished, fear loomed in the background. Steve was haunted by the harsh reality of the late 1980s, a time when society wasn't as accepting as it is today. The thought of revealing their love to the world scared him, and he worried about how people would react.
One fateful day, consumed by his fears, Steve made the painful decision to leave Eddie behind. He felt he had no choice but to sever their bond, protecting himself from the judgmental eyes of their small town. It was a decision that shattered both their hearts, leaving Eddie bewildered and heartbroken.
As time went on, their lives took different trajectories. Eddie continued to pursue his love for music, pouring his emotions into heartfelt songs that reflected his pain and longing. Meanwhile, Steve tried to suppress the memories of their love, immersing himself in work and focusing on building a life that fit society's expectations.
Years passed, and their paths seemed irrevocably diverged. Eddie's music career took him far from Hawkins, while Steve stayed rooted in their hometown, haunted by the ghost of the love he had left behind.
One evening, as the restaurant's dim light flickered in the autumn breeze, Steve found himself drawn back to the place where it all began. He had heard one of Eddie's songs on the radio, a haunting melody that tugged at his heartstrings. The lyrics echoed in his mind, reminding him of the love he had lost.
With a deep breath, Steve mustered the courage to return to the spot where they had spent countless hours together. There, he found Eddie, looking older but still carrying the same spark in his eyes. The years melted away as they locked eyes, and it was as if time had stood still.
As they sat across from each other, a flood of emotions washed over them both. The pain of the past and the longing for what could have been mingled with the joy of being reunited. They talked about the years that had passed, the wounds that had yet to heal, and the love that had never truly faded.
In that moment, they realized that their love had never truly ended; it had merely been hidden away, waiting for the right time to resurface. Steve confessed his fears and regrets, apologizing for the pain he had caused Eddie. And Eddie, with a forgiving heart, understood the weight of Steve's burden and the difficulties they had faced.
The restaurant fell silent as they sat cross-legged, the dim light casting a warm glow upon their faces. They knew that life had changed them, but their love had remained constant, frozen in time like a forgotten melody.
With tears in their eyes, they took each other's hands, promising not to let fear control their hearts any longer. They knew they might face challenges and judgments from the world, but they were determined to face them together.
And so, Eddie and Steve, two men who had once been in love, found their way back to each other, ready to rewrite their story and embrace the love they had always cherished. As they left the restaurant hand in hand, they knew that their love was stronger than any fear, and they were finally free to be themselves, unapologetically, forevermore.

I could be wrong about what I saw, but I saw a post about the ao3 top 100 ships of the year and steddie is somehow the highest ranking new ship on the list at #35 which is insane the ship hasn’t even been around for a year and a half and it’s somehow got almost 20000 fics, as far as I’m aware the other new ships on the list are older than steddie this is actually insane
For reference, here is the list I saw from @weclassybouquetfun ’s post

Steve was on his way to Family Video for his usual Saturday shift and he didn’t know why but the thought of seeing Robin was making him anxious. he knew he was wrong, he let his mouth talk before he could even comprehend what he was saying and now both you and Eddie were ignoring him. that fight had been over a week ago and he knew Robin would have heard about it from you.
Robin had made her own way to work as it was her turn to open up so when he walked in he wasn’t surprised to see her standing there with an angry expression on her face. “you are an absolute dingus” she said as soon as he entered Family Video.
he sighed and nodded his head “i know i know” he tried to shrug her off, he hated when Robin was right. “you do know that y/n is like the hottest girl in Hawkins and you say that to her? i have nothing against Nancy but jeez. can’t believe you fucked that one up”
Steve rolled his eyes and walked to the staff room so he could take off his jacket. Robin hadn’t left to follow him so he was relieved to get a few seconds of piece before he would be questioned all day.
he walked back out to see Robin sat on the counter like she was waiting for him to come back, with a less angry look on her face- it was almost sympathetic. Steve walked to the counter and started sulking as he looked at the door, hoping that maybe you’d come in so you could talk it out.
Robin felt conflicted just like Eddie but in a similar but completely different way. Eddie and Steve were also boyfriends but Eddie wanted to be there to comfort you but he also wanted to talk to Steve, he just didn’t have the time. but Robin was best friends with both you and Steve and it was hard to comfort him when it was his fault you were upset.
it was confusing for both Eddie and Robin. “is she still ignoring you?” Robin asked in a much calmer tone this time. he sighed. of course you were still ignoring him. “yeah. so is Eddie. i just- i know what i said was wrong. i didn’t even mean to say it. i don’t even love Nance anymore and here i am fucking up my relationship by bringing her up”
Steve was starting to get choked up. he missed you both so much and he can’t believe he said that to you. “look, maybe you should speak to them. do you wish y/n was Nancy?” Steve turned his body so he could face Robin.
“absolutely not. i love y/n, i don’t love Nancy anymore” he shook his head, he would always have love for Nancy but he was not in love with her. Robin nodded and he looked back at the door just hoping one of you would come in so he could explain himself.
“maybe you should go to them? or go speak to Eddie. he’s usually the one who works everything out” Robin suggested. Steve didn’t even think of that, yes Eddie was ignoring him but he hadn’t tried to contact him either. this probably was the best thing to try.
-
Steve was tired from the shift at Family Video but he knew he needed to listen to Robin and go speak to him. the trailer park wasn’t to far from Family Video so he wouldn’t have to drive for long. but once Steve arrived at Eddie’s trailer his nerves started to grow and he almost drove away so he didn’t have to face him- but he knew he had to so he could sort this situation out.
Steve took a deep breath in before opening the car door and making his way to the front door. it was like a breath of courage. he knocked three times and heard the soft sound of footsteps approaching the front door.
he could hear the soft sound of a random movie playing and Steve hoped you weren’t there- it meant he could speak to Eddie and see what he could do to work things out with you. Eddie opened the door and was shocked to see Steve standing there. “hi” Eddie said, moving to the side so Steve could come in.
“hi” it felt awkward as the two of them walked to the sofa. Eddie sat down and starched the back of his neck “i’m sorry, i was meant to call you” Eddie hated picking sides but calling Steve had slipped his mind and being with you as you tried to get your mind off of what Steve had said was difficult so the phone call hadn’t been made.
“no, it’s okay. i know you’ve been busy” Eddie nodded and an awkward silence filled the room. “how is she?” Steve broke the silence. he needed to know you were okay. “she’s uh, she’s doing okay. a bit quiet but yeah” Steve looked down at his lap with guilt written all over his face.
Steve was never one who could cover his emotions well. Eddie saw Steve internally beating himself up about what he had said to you and carefully took ahold of Steve’s hand to comfort him. “i don’t even know why i said it. she’s so much better then Nancy ever was and now i’ve just fucked it all up because i couldn’t shut my fucking mouth. she probably hates me”
Eddie watched intently as Steve spoke, he knew just by the look on his face that he wanted to see you and apologise for everything he did but the fear of you possibly breaking up with him was stopping him from even attempting to speak to you.
“look, she wants to speak to you but what you said to her really hurt her Steve. i guess she’s just as scared as you. she doesn’t hate you, she loves you.” Steve looked at Eddie with tears in his eyes. “did i really compare her to Nancy all the time?” Steve whispered and Eddie nodded. “shit”
“i’m gonna be honest i wanted to punch you in your face when you said that to her but i knew you regretted it. i’ll help you get her to forgive you just” Eddie sighed “just don’t say anything like that again. you really hurt her”
Eddie watched Steve’s facial expression slightly change when he said he’d help him and to Eddie that showed that he wanted you back and regretted everything he had said to you. “i’d never ever hurt her again” Steve said making Eddie nod his head. “okay then, let’s go get your girl back”
-
Steve and Eddie drove to your house in two separate cars (Eddie in his van) because Eddie thought it would be a good idea if Steve went inside your house by himself. it would be awkward for him to just be sat there whilst both his lovers sorted things out. Steve had bought you your favourite bouquet of flowers and a movie in hopes that after you forgave him you would want to maybe watch a movie with him, if not bringing the movie was pointless.
Eddie and Steve arrived at your house 10 minutes later and they both got out of their cars. “so what you need to do is just apologise and explain why you said it” Eddie tried to fix Steve’s hair but Steve swatted his hand away. “not the hair”
Eddie rolled his eyes but looked over Steve to see if there was anything else he could do to make him look smart-ish. Steve ran a hand through his hair to fix whatever Eddie saw wrong with it and took a deep breath. “okay so flowers, pretty in pink movie, looks like you’re all sorted” Eddie smiled at Steve’s nervous face.
“it’ll be fine Steve, just tell the truth. call me if you need anything” and with a kiss on the lips Eddie had made his way back to his van and driven off, leaving Steve on his own at the end of your lawn. “cmon Steve you got this”
he could see your bedroom light on and a few others around the house but only your car was in the driveway so your parents weren’t home. he took a deep breath before walking to your front door and knocking straight away.
it took a while for you to answer but after a few minutes he could hear the sound of your feet walking toward the door. you had honestly been miserable, constantly worrying that you weren’t good enough for both Eddie and Steve. no matter how many times Eddie reassured you that you most definitely were you still had the thought at the back of your mind.
you just wanted to know why Steve would constantly compare you to Nancy. you opened the door and was shocked to see Steve standing there with flowers and your favourite movie. “Steve what are you doing here?” you said, trying to sound like you didn’t care he was there. but you did. you cared so much that it hurt you.
“look, i know you probably don’t wanna see me and you probably hate me but i just wanted to come here-” Steve realised he was rambling and internally slapped himself. “can i please come in?” you looked into his eyes and practically melted. you nodded your head and moved to the side so he could come in.
you closed the door and walked up to your room with Steve following behind you. you sat on your bed and watched as Steve slowly sat in front of you, obviously being careful to not overstep any boundaries. you were silent and Steve took that as an indication to start talking.
“i’m so sorry y/n. i really am. i had no idea i was comparing you to her all the time. what i said was horrible and disgusting and i can honestly never forgive myself for hurting you. hurting you was the last thing i’d ever want to do and i went ahead and done it anyway. i don’t love Nancy, i never will again because i have you. you always show me what’s its like to be loved and you’re so caring and kind to people you don’t even know and you are just so amazing and i love you. i should have never laughed at you when you were telling me how you were feeling, relationships are about communication and understanding and i just laughed in your face and i am so sorry.”
you watched intently as Steve spoke and your heart fluttered, just by looking at his face you could see he felt guilty. “i’ve never felt loved before, i’ve never been shown affection and when you and Eddie came along i was shocked to be so cared for and to even be shown affection and i loved it. i just love you both, especially you and i just hope you can forgive me for what i did”
you felt a shy smile appear on your face as Steve spoke. his hand was holding onto the flowers for dear life and it made you almost laugh out loud. “are those flowers for me?” you smiled and saw Steve visibly relax. “shit- yes they’re for you. i was meant to give them to you downstairs” you giggled and accepted the flowers into your hold when he passed them to you.
“i really am sorry y/n” Steve’s voice was calmer now. “i know. thank you for your apology” you smiled at him and placed the flowers carefully next to you, making sure none of them would get squished. you sat up properly and took ahold of Steve’s hand. “please don’t ever compare me to her again, it really hurt me Steve. a lot”
Steve nodded and stroked the back of your hand softly. “i will never ever compare her to you again” Steve lent in and kissed you passionately, it was like he was making up for all the kisses he missed that passed week. “do you think we could watch pretty in pink now” you said when you pulled away from his kisses. Steve laughed and nodded his head “i guess we can” Steve got up and set up the movie, struggling with the VHS player but figured it out.
you moved the flowers onto your bedside table and moved over so Steve could lay down next to you. Steve pulled you into him and you cuddled. you could feel small kisses being placed on your forehead and that made you smile. you did miss Steve a lot. “we should call Ed’s” you said, taking your eyes off of the tv so you could look up at Steve. “no way. i wanna keep you to myself tonight” he joked and you smiled. “i love you Steve” he lent down and kissed your forehead “i love you more” you smiled, you were glad to have your Stevie back.
