I know always calling out ableism and stuff can feel like repeating yourself over and over (I’ve been doing this for..6 years so lmao) but I feel like it’s important to show that...this..is something that happens..over and over again in comics.

comics have a long long history of ableism that has been either ignored or when called out, the people talking about it are called over dramatic.

Comics should be a better place for disabled fans to exist and a simple way to show support is to be aware of what IS ableist tropes. Disabled fans deserve to feel safe and allowed to escape within the comics medium as much as abled people are.

when you say “thats just how things are in comics” thats when you give up on disabled fans.

Bloodborne is seriously the most beautiful game of all time i think about this every single time i replay it but genuinely. Just exploring yharnam and staring in awe at how gorgeous everything is, its never about graphics, bloodborne has a noticeable stylization i think in a way even stronger than other fromsoft games, and the use of lighting and color palettes is just so good it makes me want to Be there. The game is already so stunning as it is ingame but i think having access to the map viewer on my own to the side made me appreciate it even more i love seeing the way everything is constructed and put together with just the flat textures before applying any engines and even as flat surfaces you can just feel the cohesion in the backgrounds, even textureless stripped of everything that makes it "beautiful" it still feels so unique and already gets the vibe across and that explains how the game feels the way it does visually, which is something i think a lot of current gen "high fidelity" games struggle with. Hard to explain what I mean but I feel it. Also i love the slight like chromatic aberration effect bb has on the edges of the screen it adds such a nice touch to the atmosphere honestly. Sighs dreamily

#like every single location is so unique and has its own style separate from each other #but in a way thats really cohesive and still makes it feel like part of the same thing #and theyre all so beautiful in their own way #ppl dunk on the forbidden woods and nightmare frontier a lot for what i think are #just gameplay reasons but their blind hatred of those areas extends to the way theyre often excluded when #people talk about all the 'prettiest areas' and whatnot. but i think they deserve the love just as much as anywhere else #when youre not panic running through it the woods are really beautiful and well crafted #its all so skillfully put together to give exactly the atmosphere it needed #theres so many parts of it that feel iconic to me or at least could be #and the nightmare frontier i think genuinely has some of the most stunning environment designs #that were introduced by it later reused in the hunters nightmare. so it should #have its own little pedestal as The OG i think. like all the spirals and etchings that feel like #a naturally occurring phenomenon but also does not look like one. you know what im talking about?#and the strangely bright sky and fog in the distance... so so good #i have paragraphs upon paragraphs to say about each area obv but these two feel so underrated #do the fucked up graves in the woods mean nothig to you... does the little cave you spawn in in the frontier mean nothing to you...

#there's something really beautiful about experiencing the weather patterns of a new place #where i live now. its not like where i grew up. not like the foothills of Appalachia but its more familiar than the Chihuahuan desert was #when i go home to ohio everythings so green. so green. unimaginably green and the towns are in the woods. the hills roll #and trees billow deciduous and packed so tightly the treeline is like a wall of plant matter. here there are trees but they are tall and #evergreen. patchy in places like shrubs in the desert. the grass grows green but also pale tan and dead. houses are routed in valleys #between mountains. they're made of wood and not stucco but they still look strange and the landscape is crumpled together tall. and there's #water. it rains. days can be dreary and gray with drizzle. i forgot what thats like. when a single low stratus cloud blocks out thewhole sk #and fog clings to the trees. my school bus used to drive by a lake where thr fog was so thick i didnt kno how the driver could see the road #but somehow i forgot how much joy suspended water vapor gives me living in a place where when it rains it pours so hard the streets flood #and the greedy ground drinks the landscape dry. but there are new things as well. here smoke rolls up over thr mountains and gets stuck in #the valleys so that the weather forcast reads: Smoke for days on end. im used to tornado warnings and heat warnings and dust storm warnings #but ive never expected Smoke as a type of weather. and im sure there's more to experience. ive only been here like 3 weeks. its not as gree #as home. the storms dont seem to get quite so violent. the woods are so full of bears that its an active threat. but its not the desert #and while ill miss the shapes of desert plants and little lizards. when i look up at the pine and spruce trees i feel like i can breathe a #little easier. well see how i feel once the long cold winter sets in haha #but i dunno. part of me still longs for a violent thunderstorm. one where u can feel the temperature drop and u csn feel it building all da #one that bends the trees and smells like ozone. it was never like that in thr southwest and im not sure that happens here #but maybe thats just a desire for chaos and violence as a product of my pathological internal control. i cant be spontaneous so let nature #bring the fear to me. some of my favorite memories are watching lightning strikes #so it goes i suppose #unrelated #listen. is it fucked up to have ohio nostalgia? maybe so. but in my defense i grew up in the pretty part of ohio lol

hi!! sorry if this has been asked before, but can I ask how you got the inspiration for the setting of greenwarden? I'm from a tiny town in central appalachia and it's so fun to read smth with such a familiar setting :p thanks!!

Warden, WV is heavily inspired by my hometown! Up to and including an almost one-for-one recreation of our 200 year old covered bridge.

Much like Warden most of town is across the bridge, up against the mountainside. Especially in recent years, there's been a couple ways in and people living across the river (you can see another bridge and even an overpass in the picture below), but I liked the idea of Warden being kind of a liminal space. Somewhere you can only access by going through a place that's dark and foreboding and ancient.

Other inspos include X Files, David Paulides' Missing 411 and the popular Stairs in the Woods/Park Ranger AMA creepypasta lmao.

Initially it was going to be way more rural fantasy/American Gothic-esque, with the main character being a hermit defending their homestead from Anomalies and cultists, but I went with more of an X Files bend. I thought it'd make for a more interesting, character-driven story. :]

The secret language you develop after knowing someone for so long words and turns of phrase only one person on the planet understands, all the jokes you make, all the actions your neural pathways remember, this reminds you of them, when they feel this way you give them a kiss, they love that thing, when you get a hug a thumb runs along your back. It's all bleeding out of me and I've never seen that show where she says "where do I put it? All the love I have?" But my friend is worried and I want to kiss the top of her head and another friend says "dumpling" I repeat a phrase from a joke they've never heard and when people hug me they all feel wrong and there is no thumb gently smoothing my rumples and my worries.

#last night i dreamt we made pasta together with fancy blue eggplant and red sauce and this morning i wanted to text him about it #because i tell him ny dreams and i never make pasta and he'd like to hear about how i redesigned the aldi around the corner #and i think this is my body and nerves reaching out and grasping for interaction that they know exists because they remember #and after sitting in a fog where you dont reach for anything its nice to hold your hands out i spose but the things they touch are strange #not conforting yet #im building callouses on ny hand again and i dont want to change and be someone else who doesnt expect the second half of a secret handshake #because then I'll be alone!!! he wont remember me

He jumped, there's been plenty of campfire intrusions tonight. But it never did get any less startling to hear an unfamiliar voice. Just as his mouth opened to responded though his eyes landed on this....cat? Was it a cat?? Shape of his face generally reminded him of one. But the fact he was bipedal, let alone cyclopic and multi limbed, was enough to cause his voice to die in his throat. Instead, just staring down this new creature, mouth agape.

He's aware it's impolite. But after seven years, he'd thought he'd honestly seen just about everything.
