okay im not good at all at making reqs and stuff but do u think u could do like a sunghoon highschool au thing where the reader n him are bestfriends but hes slowly realizing that hes catching feelings for her and like hes noticing that little things she does for him or just in general are starting to give him butterflies and stuff? just like cute ass stuff (ofc reader likes him back) i hope this makes sense 😭💗
snow angel
Tumblr media
pairing: sunghoon x fem!reader
synopsis: your longtime best friend park sunghoon simply cant ignore his feelings for you anymore, especially on a special day like this.
warnings: none really? skinship, fluff, barely proofread
word count: 420
song suggestions: heart attack-chuu, must be love-laufey
back to the archives !
this wasn’t supposed to happen.
sunghoon swore on his holographic charizard that this wouldn’t happen to him, but you were too captivating.
at first, it was small things, you tugging on sunghoons sleeve to direct him in the right direction, you tutoring him and getting a little too close to him.
but everything changed that one afternoon.
it was a chilly afternoon, with pinkish hues gracing your cheeks and nose. you had a scarf (sunghoons) wrapped around your neck as you guys walk together, occasionally spotting a stray cat or dog and stopping to pet it.
but today, today happened to be the first snowfall. the first snowfall is usually very symbolic. theres a supersition that the first snowfall you witness with the person you like, true love will blossom between both and it will be long-lasting. sunghoon usually takes these first snowfall walks with a photo of his celebrity crush, his family, or he avoids it all together. but this snowfall just had to happen when he was walking home with you.
you guys eventually ended up chatting about teachers and homework, when suddenly, snowflakes started to grace your face. you spealed and tugged sunghoon the nearest park to play around.
i think thats what he liked most about you.
you always did whatever you wanted, as long as it brought you joy, but when you started hanging out with sunghoon you did stuff that made him happy too. you made him feel like it was you and him against the world.
once you finished playing in the snow and taking photos you grabbed your bag but paused.
you reached to get a snowflake out of sunghoons hair.
and thats when it happened
“you’re so beautiful”
you stare at him as you slowly retract your hand.
“you, you think i’m beautiful?”
“i think you’re the most beautiful girl i’ve ever met. everything about you is beautiful, from your hair,” he says as he takes a bit of your hair in his hand “to your pretty outfits” he then fiddles with the hem of your shirt. “everything about you is beautiful and every day i wish you would be mine” you inch closer to sunghoon and put an arm around his waist.
“i’ve waited for forever for you to say that” you pull him by his collar and feel the soft sensation of your lips connecting in a loving moment. you break apart and put your forehead against his while giggling. “i love you sunghoon”
“i love you too, more than you’ll ever know”
general taglist: @unikivrse msg or comment to be added
authors note: hope u liked this anon !! i originally wrote this when it was still really chilly outside so this has a winter theme. (also sunghoons coquette pictures are so cute😽)

The meaning of shoes exchange symbolism on Little Women (2022)
Shoes exchange is important element in series.
Each time someone do shoes exchange, they receive things (from act of love), but they gave away things too (result of bad omen)
Tumblr media
The director mentioned giving shoes is act of love.
But there's old supersition that said give shoes means give bad omen.
Both indeed applied here. Let's analyze it
***
Started when Injoo's pink heels got broken. Hwayoung offering her sneakers so Injoo could comfortable walk to hills.
After arrive at hills, Hwayoung offering Injoo her Bruno Zumino, so Injoo could feel confident playing rich at resto.
Tumblr media
Kinda back a bit to Injoo's broken pink heels, it's like foreshadow of Red Shoes and bad things around it in future.
Tumblr media
These were first hint of symbolisms:
Heels = rich life, but there's danger
Sneakers = simple, but comfortable life
Injoo later give the sneakers back to Hwayoung, symbolizing she gave away comfortable life in exchange to have the Bruno Zumino (rich play & money)
Tumblr media
We know what happen next after Injoo receive the heels and give away the sneakers:
Hwayoung give Injoo her luxurious yoga membership + Bruno Zumino heels + 2B Won! And hoping Injoo could live at her dream apartment with her sisters (act of love)
But in exchange, Injoo need to use it all wisely or her life in danger (bad omen)
Tumblr media
But we know Injoo, she's reckless (and we love her for that)
When Inhye said she will going to Boston for study, Injoo immediately came to Sangah's house. She's wearing Bruno Zumino and offering the money to Sangah for Inhye's school
At this moment, Injoo's dangerous life is started; Sangah - aka the main villain - found out Injoo has the money and still close with Hwayoung all this time
Yes, seems like Sangah didn't know Hwayoung still close with Injoo all this time
Hwayoung probably realise Sangah tried to "playing" with Injoo if she know Injoo close with her.
That's why Hwayoung tried to make her friendship with Injoo as secret to fooling Sangah and to protect Injoo
But now Sangah know that Injoo still close with Hwayoung - just like what she planned since beginning for her play.
Sangah restarted her discontinued play and continuing her plan to playing Injoo's life.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile at Singapore, Hwayoung just realise her plan to make her friendship with Injoo as secret was failed and Sangah tried to play Injoo's life, when she read the manipulated article that Sangah prepare to lure Injoo to Singapore to find her
Hwayoung knew immediately Injoo must be in danger and tried her best to protect her; by throw herself in between car and truck, tell Injoo to run, reporting Injoo's littering, and the most important thing:
Hwayoung took Injoo's heels and exchange it with her sneakers;
It's symbolism of Hwayoung took back all bad omens (heels) that Injoo received and give back the comfort (sneakers) to Injoo
Tumblr media
Hwayoung back to Korea after recovered to save Injoo from being punished over her mistake, and receive the punishment
Injoo is now free and situation started back to normal (she wear sneakers in last ep)
But Injoo choose to leave and back to save Hwayoung, who got kidnapped by Sangah bcs she still on dangerous life zone (she still wear the heels)
Tumblr media
Conclusion:
Shoes exchange is symbolism of series' main theme: capitalism;
Because in order to give/receive something, there's something that you need to pay
But at same time, shoes exchange is also symbolism of act of love between Injoo and Hwayoung
Both Hwayoung and Injoo are very similar. They grew up in similar poverty condition that made them understand each other and could feel each others' pain; it got symbolized on how they have same shoes size, and many of their shot are like they are half to each other, or looks same
Tumblr media
It made them want to share things to each other because that condition; and it got symbolized through shoes exchange
But sadly, in world of capitalism, there's things that they need to pay; and it got symbolized through their matching scars - symbol of battle scars that they receive because "the shoes exchange"

X-Men: First Class 8 (April 2007)
Jeff Parker/Roger Cruz
This is the last of First Class...except it's not. The original series as conceived ran for eight issues and "ends" here, but it did well enough that it was followed by a couple of special issues and a new monthly series that ran a while longer, which my invaluable guide suggests I continue reading at this point, so that's what we're going to do. Sorry to anyone who was hoping to go back to the 60s...
Tumblr media
While reading this issue I was struck with a sudden worry that I'd become desensitized to just how bad the art here is, so please take a look at the above panel to refresh your memory. We're in theory looking through a window pane here - hence the inexplicable plant up the middle that muddies up the composition. And what is Jean's face. Anyway, as you can see, Xavier is away and Jean has a psychic vision of him being in trouble. But where is he?
Tumblr media
Oh right, he's in a six hundred mile radius west of the Congo. What?! Apparently this makes perfect sense to the X-Men, who head out there and discover a helpful local, the beloved (?) major (??) classic (???) Marvel character Gorilla-Man.
Tumblr media
Gorilla-Man is an authentic 1950s Marvel pulp character, predating any of the X-Men and most of their superheroes, which is sort of cool. Of course he's also a white dude (in the body of a gorilla) hanging out in Africa talking about "the natives" and their supersitions, so, yeah.
Tumblr media
There's some hippo action which is an almost exact retread of the alligator action in the Lizard issue, right down to Bobby freezing the water. This was like three months ago guys, this is lazy.
Tumblr media
Eventually they find Xavier in a Lara Croft-style temple, with a total absence of villains: he's trapped in a psychic pit of despair that the temple generates, and the rest of them all succumb too until Gorilla-Man breaks them out. The end, I guess?
Tumblr media
Presumably this all sold quite well, well enough for the subsequent issues I mentioned above, which I'll be reading next. As you can tell, aside from flashes of interest - almost all related to references to the original comics, which are extremely fresh in my mind - I really didn't like it, and this issue illustrates why.
Tumblr media
The story, as with all the other stories, is triggered and wrapped up a single issue: why is this the last in the run? Nothing particularly important happened in it. To some degree the writers must have felt hemmed in by existing 50-year-old canon, but they had eight issues in which they could have built small arcs and themes and they absolutely didn't. The next run is longer - 16 issues, I believe, and a couple of specials - so maybe they'll feel a bit more confident int hat one.
Tumblr media
Mostly it's just that I hate the art, though.

I WROTE A BOOK
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Boo! I’m back with a my first novel after over a decade of writing short stories for myself. I got really sucked into the TGCF fandom and kind of abandonned DC so sorry y’all. I just came onto this account for the first time in years to promote this, and I might create an account for this novel if it kicks off.
I just  . . .
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
how.
Anyway, I'll be thankful for anyone who'd check it out and possibly leave an honest review. As I said this is my first novel so constructive criticism is welcome!
The Lone Lake of Glass Lilies is a long, twisting romance novel full of suspense, thrill and silly loving characters as well as horredously cruel characters (it's 322 pages long, with themes of fantasy/romance/thriller/age progression!).
The romance side of things is inspired from books such as Heaven's Official Blessing and with some background elements of Howl's Moving Castle.
The novel takes place in my own self-made fantasy world, where elves, fairies, tieflings, werewolves, giants, cyclopses, goblins, four covens of witches, sorcerers, humans and vampires all live in relative harmony until a particular coven, the Coven of Crows, drops from their noble standing as renowned healers to the darkest pits of anatomy magic after a tragic death of a beloved young lord. The lord’s close brother seeks his revenge on the leading kingdom of the supernatural world and its counterpart fairy kingdom; the elves. The elf king was the ulmtimate leader of their realm whom could halt all wars and battles with the rise of his finger however preferred to hide away from the backlash of intervening in other commuinities’ affairs by sending the crows - most commonly known as the Corbeaus - to offer support on both sides of the battlefield instead.
The typical fantasy characters that all have little twists to their regular characteristics to fit the story; all with their own cultures, beliefs and supersitions; practising both good values and bad as most follow the herd of the community they grew up in. Most.
Our protagonist is the first to stand up against his peoples’ vain belief system with the aid of a most powerful yet gentle presense in his life whose melodious voice guides him through the worst of astrocities.
The plot is jam packed with action that leaves readers wondering what will happen next as our protagonist slowly begins to doubt their own sanity with every heart wrenching decision.
The story revolves around a homeless elf boy who was brought up in the slums of a wealthy elven kingdom. He had slowly grown accustomed to being the victim of mistreatment until he develops his first crush on a  bold, endearing fairy princess who is the first to give him a chance to reach his full potential. The story goes through all his stages in life from boy to young teen to teenager, adult and further; as his innocent crush blooms into a deeply fond love for her, keeping him soft and tender even as life becomes unbearble to the brink of death.
The Lone Lake of Glass Lilies can get dreadly depressing at points, and ridiculously silly at others, with sombre topics as well as highly suggestive scenes that make it 18+
The two lovers are kept apart for the majority of the novel, as the love interest becomes too invested in her own duties to contact the lovesick protagonist however the spark between them is always present in the background like the soft glow of a night light in the swallowing darkness.

me:
me: actually you know what? the reason why asoiaf actually "subverts" expectations with regards to jon snow is because it actually explores how a teenager would react to learning he's part of a prophecy surrounding a magical royal line by having him find out AFTER he's already taken a position of authority, exposed himself to the horror he's supposed to fight, and already DIED trying to desperately keep the only people who give a shit about it together to fight it and failing horribly. the subversion is present in the deconstruction of the trope of the chosen teenage hero by having the setting be a world were politics, colonialism, idealism, pragmatism, supersition, violent selfish war, and human fallibility are all present and contribute to his storyline. likewise, the story poses the idea he is not the only one who can fulfill this prophecy, and what could happen if he and other candidates met and had familial ties but also different backgrounds and notions of family which ties heavily into the theme of lineage. what game of thrones did wasn't a "subversion of expectations" but an absolute destruction of them in a boring, lazy, and greedy way. all the themes essential to the story were replaced by idiotic characterization, a boring resolution, and the droning of the exact same uncharismatic and empty-brained phrase through an entire season.

heights, number 13, dolls :0
Fear-Themed Headcanon Questions ; still accepting
heights- Is your muse a risk-taker?
Yes. To the point of stupidity. If you give him a challenge he will not rest until he has completed said challenge. He loves risks, he is a total adrenaline junkie. Gilbert’s favourite past time right now is parkour, but it’s his version of parkour, which means he just jumps off buildings and hopes for the best. He also really enjoys a good game of russian roulette, or any sort of gambling. So yeah, he loves risks. Takes them all the time. Every outfit choice he chooses is a risk.
number 130- Does your muse believe any superstitions?
Too many! He believes all these old crazy Prussian supersitions, which I am still researching so I couldn’t tell you too much about. But basically he is like a very superstitious grandpa and will always snap at people for doing things he thinks will bring about bad luck.
dolls- Has your muse ever collected something?
Weapons are his primary collection right now, he just loves them. But in the past he used to collect rocks, leaves, anything cool he’d find. His military medal collection is also quite interesting!

An Alternative for All the Roleplayers Concerned By the Policy Changes
https://www.rprepository.com/ If you haven’t yet, try out Roleplay Repository! It’s a forum based site, though both forum threads and private message threads can be popped out in new windows/tabs that turn them into realtime chats if that’s more your speed! It’s something of a freemium site because the crew running it is much, much smaller than multi-billion dollar supersites like Tumblr and the like, though you get a pretty generous free account limit of 10 character pages and 5 tabs/subpages per character profile. Besides, no rule exists for multiple characters in the same profile! Unfortunately you have to pay to use custom themes for your profile and your character pages but there’s tons of free ones (thankfully, the monthly charge is pretty cheap and you can buy one but not activate it immediately so you can sit on it, or gift it to someone else!). I really love the format of the site myself but if it takes you a bit to get used to it and get a good character or a good RP started then please stick with it, I promise you get used to it, and it’s probably just as powerful and flexible as Tumblr’s if not more.
BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL IF THIS POST GETS BIG, DO NOT FLOOD THEM TOO FAST! WE MIGHT HAVE SEVERAL THOUSAND PEOPLE THERE ALREADY BUT THE SERVERS PROBABLY AREN’T RATED FOR A GIGANTIC ALL AT ONCE FLOOD. DON’T LET SOUP.IO HAPPEN AGAIN GUYS.
AND IF YOU DO STOP BY, LOOK FOR USER GRANDFINALE! THAT’S ME!

The Path to Immunity
Historical trends show there are different challenges to getting shots in arms, depending on where people live.
On Feb. 24,  Surgo Ventures unveiled a data tool: The U.S. COVID-19 Vaccine Coverage Index to track major barriers in getting people vaccinated.
The index was created to assist federal, state and county decisionmakers in identifying which communities face challenges to vaccine coverage and why, based on the community-level barriers affecting COVID-19 vaccine uptake.
The index captures 28 supply and demand factors through five different themes. Surgo’s news release said the index’s modular design helps contextualize vaccine rollout performance and highlight inequities across communities – helping keep a pulse on the pace of efforts to ensure equitable, efficient vaccination.
This map shows counties with the highest and lowest levels of concern of distributing the vaccine to its population, according to the index.
Click on the map to go to the site and see how each county compares.
Tumblr media
The five themes that make up the index are:
Historic under vaccination
Socio-     demographic barriers
Resource-constrained health systems
Healthcare accessibility barriers
Irregular care-seeking behavior
According to the index, the following states are the highest concern when it comes to ensuring widespread vaccine coverage:
1. Nevada
2. Mississippi
3. Oklahoma
4. Texas
5. Georgia
6. Arizona
7. Arkansas
8. Indiana
9. Florida
10. Tennessee
These maps show several challenges in each state:
Tumblr media
Here’s how the rollout is going in each state, according to the index:
Tumblr media
U.S. rates
In the U.S., the latest vaccination rate is 1,275,497 doses per day, on average. At this rate, it will take an estimated nine months to cover 75% of the population with a two-dose vaccine.
Across the U.S.
As of Feb. 24, 44.5 million people have received at least one dose. At least 19.9 million people have completed the two-dose vaccination regimen.
And, 19.6 doses have been administered for every 100 people, and 79% of the shots delivered to states have been administered.
Tumblr media
According to Bloomberg, the first stage of the U.S. rollout fell short of federal projections as vaccinations proceeded unevenly across the states. After focusing first on hospitals and other institutional health-care settings, the next phase of vaccinations will draw more on pharmacies and health clinics.
California has the highest daily rate of doses given at 209,334. Florida has the second-highest rate at 115,287.
You can visit the Bloomberg site for daily updates on vaccination progress.

New story in Politics from Time: The Pandemic Is Causing a Shortage of Poll Workers. Can States Recruit Enough By Election Day?
Denis Fortier, a retired education specialist from Lewiston, Me., has worked as a deputy election warden for several years. But both he and his wife Pauline, an election clerk, decided they weren’t comfortable working the Maine primary in July due to the coronavirus pandemic. Both are over 70.
“It was not an easy decision,” Fortier says. “It’s not an easy decision whichever way I go for the November elections. I’ve not made up my mind yet whether I’m going to work or not.”
Fortier fits the profile for a standard election worker: A retired, engaged citizen who comes back cycle after cycle to keep democracy running smoothly. According to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s (EAC) Election Administration and Voting Survey for the 2016 presidential election, 917,694 poll workers ran voting sites across the country. More than half the poll workers the commission gathered data from were 61 or older.
This year, many of those workers are considering sitting November out, leaving election officials scrambling to recruit replacements. “What we’ve heard from election officials is just a massive dropout of poll workers,” says Benjamin Hovland, commissioner of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission. “That has real consequences. You can’t open polling places if you don’t have poll workers.”
The increase in mail ballots this year is expected to relieve some of the demand, but an adequate election-day workforce will still be needed to staff polling sites and count the ballots. In 2018, states used an average of eight poll workers per location, and nearly 70% of jurisdictions that responded to the EAC’s survey said they struggled to recruit workers.
The primaries have already demonstrated why it’s so important to plan ahead and ensure there are enough people to keep things running. Many states reported no-shows, resulting in long lines and even closed polling locations.
In Milwaukee, Wis., an expected 180 voting sites for the April 7 presidential primary were consolidated into five. The city typically requires at least 1,400 election workers, but had less than 400 as Election Day approached. The result was long wait times for voters. Due to the city’s large Black population, the delays disproportionately affected voters of color.
Shauntay Nelson, the Wisconsin state director for All Voting is Local, says the voting-rights group has been working with the City of Milwaukee municipal clerk and other local organizations to find “nontraditional” ways to recruit poll workers. Among their efforts are using social media, holding information sessions, and even hosting a job fair. She says they’re trying to recruit people from public-facing jobs, like bartenders, that may not be working on Election Day.
Make sense of what matters in Washington. Sign up for the daily D.C. Brief newsletter.
Efforts like this are underway in other states and on the national level. Ohio is offering lawyers Continuing Legal Education credit for taking part in the election. Iowa launched a recruitment campaign specifically requesting younger Iowans participate. Colorado offered election judges $3 more per hour and paid sick leave for the primary, while the West Virginia Real Estate Commission will allow agents and brokers to earn Continuing Education credit for their service. Many of the campaigns tap into patriotic themes. The Election Assistance Commission, Hovland says, also plans to announce soon that the agency will launch a poll-worker recruitment day for September 1, a new initiative spurred by the demand.
In Texas’ Bexar County, which encompasses San Antonio, several voting sites had to close during the state’s July 14 run-off elections because of a lack of poll workers. County Judge Nelson Wolff, who oversees guidelines and funding for elections on the local level as part of the Commissioners Court, says coronavirus concerns were to blame. Looking ahead to November, Wolff says the county is planning to create four “supersites” to reduce the need to staff so many places for early voting. While Bexar County typically has 280 voting sites for elections, Wolff says he anticipates cutting that figure to between 25 and 50 sites in November. “We’re taking a number of steps in anticipation that we will not be able to man all the polls on Election Day that we have done in the past,” Wolff says.
In South Windsor, Conn., poll workers will be paid an additional $100 in hazard pay for the presidential preference primaries on August 11, and may get the same bonus in November. The 26,000-person city would face a shortage of poll workers had younger poll workers not stepped in, according to Sue Larsen, the Democratic registrar. “The hazard pay was because we understood that this was a tough financial time and the fact that they were putting themselves in a situation that could be detrimental to their health,” Larsen says.
Poll workers are recruited and hired locally and help with tasks such as verifying voters’ identities, answering questions, and assisting voters who require it. Most of these roles are temporary and paid, requiring a short training period commitment and attendance on the day of the election. A majority of states even have youth poll workers programs, allowing minors to participate. Because so many of the workers build up a base of knowledge by returning election after election, training will be crucial this year because so many are likely to be first-time poll workers.
In Seminole County, Fla., Chris Anderson, the Republican Supervisor of Elections, said that because of the pandemic, the county had to build its bench of backup workers. While a lot of workers are returning, there will be a “very high degree of new folks,” Anderson says, estimating 30% of the poll workers for the August 18 primary election will be first-timers.
“What we do for all three elections, regardless of turnout, is we overstaff,” says Anderson. “We’re planners by nature, so we are always kind of looking at … the what-if scenario.”

Number 13: Does your muse believe any superstitions?
Hmmm, yes and no. Ivan will jokingly refer to old superstitions or do it in situations where he wants to scare someone, but he will never outright say he believes in them. He absolutely used to back in the past and when he was younger, but as he grew older and harder and the world changed around him, he ‘grew out’ of believing in old supersitions.
That said, there are little things here and there he still does that are old superstitions that he could never truly break. They’re so stuck with him that they’ve become second-nature. For one, he doesn’t whistle inside the house and doesn’t like when his guests do that either, but in the end, if they do, they do. He won’t lose sleep over it. He also will always sit before leaving on any journey. One of the other things that carried over to present-day is when giving gifts that are meant to/can hold money, he will always include a little money with it, as not doing so is bad luck. Another ‘superstition’ that he still follows to this day is giving odd-numbered bouquets when he gifts flowers. Never even numbers. Ivan also will never wish someone happy birthday before their actual birthday has passed. He will either do it on the day or wait until it has passed.
