Surrogacy in China: Seeking out the other available options is always a good idea!
Surrogacy in China is trickier that it looks from outside. While many agencies and entities are carrying out surrogacy program in the country, the practice is banned as per the recent surrogacy laws in china.
So, regardless of whether you are looking for single parent surrogacy in china or gay surrogacy in china, you may have to look for alternate destinations in the same regards.
Tumblr media
What does surrogacy laws in China says?
The Ministry of Health put through the Procedures on the Administration of Human Assisted Reproductive Technology in August 2001 in light of the requirement for medical assistance during the surrogacy procedure. This is where Article 22 clearly outlines the penalties, which include a warning and a 30,000 RMB fine from the provincial health authorities for any health institution involved in surrogacy ( be it single parent surrogacy in china or gay surrogacy in china) .
Moreover, the sale of gametes, zygotes, and embryos is specifically prohibited by Article 3 of this regulation, and neither medical professionals nor institutions are permitted to use surrogate technology in any way.
The Ministry of Health also released four additional regulations in 2001 to further support the government’s staunch opposition to anti-abortion laws. These laws, despite being updated in 2003, support the view that surrogacy in china and other related practices are outright forbidden in the country, including inducing ovulation to produce multiple births and providing eggs for sale. However, local laws cannot be applied to those who pay for surrogacy services outside of China (i.e., outside of the country).
Surrogacy in china : Where to go next?
While surrogacy is completely banned in china, you can certainly look forward to other nations. While surrogacy may come at a cost in most of these countries, there are certain options like surrogacy in Kenya that offers affordable surrogacy programs to all.
Surrogacy in USA
Surrogacy in the United States is regarded as the best in the world for a number of important reasons. Access to the best fertility specialists is a big plus, even though the quality of medical care is unmatched. A surrogacy program is also open to anyone, regardless of gender, race, or religion.
Surrogacy in the USA has only one disadvantage: it is more expensive, with costs ranging from $150000 to $250000. Still, given the quality of service and satisfaction you are getting in return, the same shouldn’t pose a significant problem, though.
Surrogacy in Australia
Australia is another popular option for couples and single people looking for surrogacy. That said, you should be aware that only altruistic surrogacy is permitted in Australia, and even this is subject to regional laws and regulations. On the other hand, it is prohibited for Australian couples looking for surrogate mothers to use any form of advertising or marketing.
Additionally, using any sort of surrogate matching, sperm and egg donation, or similar services is prohibited. Therefore, if you want to pursue surrogacy in Australia, it is absolutely essential that you work with a reputable surrogacy clinic. Having said that, a surrogacy program in Australia would cost you $50,000 to $60,000.
Surrogacy in Canada
If you want to have children via surrogacy and money isn’t a major concern, surrogacy in Canada is strongly advised. In addition to having excellent medical facilities, the nation is home to some of the best IVF specialists. A surrogacy would also cost between $90,000 and $1,000,000 in Canada.
Consequently, we can draw the conclusion that choosing a surrogacy program in Canada is far more advantageous and hassle-free than utilizing a risky surrogacy plan with a low surrogacy cost in China. Again, intended parents should be aware that the Canadian surrogate mother waiting list is a little bit longer than usual.
Therefore, it is highly advised to connect with a reputable Canadian surrogacy agency that is familiar with the business from top to bottom.
Tumblr media
Surrogacy in Kenya
If you want to realize your child-seeking dreams on a budget, surrogacy in Kenya is without a doubt your best option. Furthermore, you can rely on the country’s reputable, excellent, and affordable surrogacy programs as well as its state-of-the-art medical facilities.
The main benefit of this program is that anyone can take part, regardless of their gender, caste, or religion. In addition, depending on the specifics of the procedure and other significant factors, the cost of a surrogacy in Kenya can range from $40,000 to $50,000.
Surrogacy in Ukraine
Even though the country is in a war like situation with the neighbor Russia, Ukraine is still the most popular surrogacy destinations. Additionally, intended parents must be aware that in this region of the world, only heterosexual couples are allowed to use surrogates. Furthermore, since Ukraine is home to some of the best medical professionals and facilities in the world, you won’t need to worry about the caliber of IVF care you’ll get during your particular surrogacy process.
On the other hand, it is also estimated that a surrogacy program in Ukraine would cost between $45,000 and $50,000. You must, however, continue with your surrogacy plans despite the fact that the nation is presently engaged in a warlike situation with its neighbor, Russia.
Final words
Despite the fact that surrogacy is illegal in China, you are still able to visit the other nations mentioned above to fulfill your parenthood dreams. Additionally, it is always advised to get in touch with the top surrogacy agency to make it all easier and convenient. By doing so, you can be sure that your surrogacy journey will be well-supported and assisted all along.

What are your feminist thoughts on altruistic surrogacy by close friends or family members? And what are your thoughts on adoption?
I think surrogacy as a whole is harmful to women, and surrogacy only exists because of cultural ideas that we should be critical of as feminists, even if they aren't specifically about women. surrogacy is primo captialist fetishism, the idea that we can buy anything as long as someone has enough money to convince someone to accept it, is antithetical to the ideals of female liberation from male supremacy. In surrogacy, we can see that 1. the body is for sale 2. pregnancy is for sale 3. women are for sale 4. babies are for sale...very bad ideas. And it's not just that babies are for sale because you're literally buying a baby, but because if you want to have a baby you should be able to get one, regardless if you're single, infertile, same-sex couple, etc...babies are mere accessories to our lives rather than human beings. Add on to this is of course the patriarchal fetishism of biological legacy, which is where surrogacy steps in over adoption: you want a baby, you want that baby to be your biological baby, you don't want to be pregnant, you should be allowed to buy a baby! But, why? Why can't we question these motives, these ideas?
I don't see how we can argue for "altruistic surrogacy" and not support these same ideas, that a woman can machine manufacture a baby easy-peasy in her baby tummy, and that a baby is a thing you buy rather than a human you take into your life to raise. Is it really any surprise that data suggests surrogate pregnancies are more dangerous to the woman than a normal pregnancy? It's not magic, it's a biological process. Why would your body just accept something that isn't your DNA? Many organ transfers fail for the very same reason.
When it comes to adoption, often we see the same strange baby-buying mentality, though it's even more taboo to criticize that not all may be right in this "altruistic industry." It's sticky stuff because, unlike surrogacy, I don't think we should make it fully illegal. I think a lot of good people can become really good parents to adopted kids, and a lot of kids need homes. But my hair raises at inter-country adoption. Why on earth is it so normal to lionize adults who pluck young kids out of their native home, their native language, their native culture, possibly away from family who are trying to gain custody, and force them to assimilate to a new western home, all because they believe they are "saving them"? Okay. How is this not racist? How does this benefit the children? How is this not shopping, with so many countries to choose from? Why is "saving" a kid from China so much better than "saving" a kid from New York? And often it's about the time, money, and patience you had, proving love. You can buy kids, you can buy love, hm.

A piece about surrogacy that focuses on the baby.
We are putting the interests of adults above those of children
Helen Gibson 11 May, 2024
Many readers will have seen that surrogacy clip which went viral on Twitter this week. A man, complete with false nails and hair in pigtails, having a newborn baby handed to him, ostensibly for the bonding process of “skin to skin”; a process usually reserved for the baby and their mother, in order to calm the baby after delivery, stimulate her milk production, and encourage the expulsion of the placenta. The baby in the aforementioned clip was distressed, and shuddering. As the man, apparently the father, held the baby, she started to scream. Not the cries of a hungry newborn, but the screams of a desperate infant.
Whether you’re a mother or not, most people who see such footage will have a visceral reaction
For the tens of thousands who have seen the footage, the majority of us, I think I can safely claim, felt sickened to our core. For here is surrogacy in all its raw truth. A baby is born, and handed away from the mother it knows and wants, and to hell with the consequences. Whether you’re a mother or not, most people who see such footage will have a visceral reaction.
Of course, the optics of this particular case put the situation even more clearly: a man, cosplaying as a woman, able to design and commission a baby in order to validate his lifestyle choices; with no thought for the impact on the newborn child, desperately flailing and wanting her mother. This particular situation jarred with so many because it so obviously sits at the centre of the Venn diagram between surrogacy and gender ideology, with all the latter’s negatives for women and children already understood by most of the viewers of the clip.
Outside of feminist Twitter, many people have never given surrogacy any thought at all
Outside of feminist Twitter, many people have never given surrogacy any thought at all; but this is what it is. This is what it looks like. Newborns handed away at birth, with no thought given to their needs or welfare, or who the commissioning parent might be. No follow up by any agency, clinic or social services after delivery. No tracking of the child or idea of where they end up living, or what happens to them. In many US states the baby buyers gain parental rights at birth and the baby removed, often abroad; the mother simply seen as a vessel, in all but name, with no rights to the child or recourse if she changes her mind. If the Law Commission of England and Wales, with the Scottish Law Commission, gets their way, it’s where we’ll be headed in the UK, with oversight and granting of Parental Orders by the Family Court stripped away for surrogacy “teams” proceeding on a new Pathway.
And surrogacy can be far darker even than this video suggests. In March, a Chicago veterinarian was charged on suspicion of distributing child sexual abuse images, just days before he was due to fly to California and collect his son, who was born to a surrogate mother. The child is, as I currently understand it, living with the arrested man’s husband and in-laws. Three weeks ago, the anti-trafficking charity Unseen declared the first cases of forced surrogacy in the UK being reported to their modern slavery helpline in 2023. Meanwhile, we have seen a post which shows a pregnant surrogate mother expressing concern at never having met the commissioning (single) father of the child she is carrying, even online. “I’ve been informed the parent has hired someone to come pick up surro baby after delivery to take him back home(china). Idk how to feel, I would have thought the IP would be more involved…I Guess i just would have thought he’d want to at least be there for the birth:/”.
And for a very English spin on things, in April the multi-millionaire British socialite Alice Naylor-Leyland had her fourth child, born to a surrogate mother in the US. “I’m aware it was greedy to have this burning desire to complete our Family, but due to too many complications, setbacks and miscarriages & then being told I was no longer able to carry, we decided to venture down the world of Surrogacy”. Naylor-Leyland was already a mother of three but decided to outsource the risk of “complications and miscarriages” to another woman instead, in order to fulfil her dream of a fourth baby.
Surrogacy only exists to satisfy the desires of adults, and to hell with the consequences for women and children. The numbers have ballooned around the world since the first cases of surrogacy in the 1980s. Tens of thousands of children have been born through “gestational surrogacy” in the US alone; the industry is worth billions. Thailand, which banned international commercial surrogacy in 2015, has recently announced it is to lift its ban on the practice; meaning within the next few years we will see Thailand become the main surrogacy hub for south-east Asia, with women undoubtedly being trafficked in to, and within, the country in their hundreds, if not more, to meet the new demand.
Surrogacy is growing, just as social media is helping more people come to understand precisely what the practice is, and what it means. Seeing babies taken off their mothers so freely is so shocking that most people who witness photographs and videos which show surrogacy happening can’t believe it is legal. As I have written about previously in The Critic, the women involved in surrogacy are groomed by the industry in to not realising they are the mothers of their own children, even in cases where they use their own egg; believing the lies peddled to them by a rapacious industry, that they are doing something “kind” and “beautiful”. A mother is the primary safeguarder of her child; if the mother in the case of surrogacy doesn’t believe herself to be so, who is acting to keep the child safe? Certainly not the agencies, who are incentivised by both money and an apparent evangelical commitment to the ‘miracle’ of surrogacy.
The test for whether or not surrogacy is acceptable to its supporters seems to be “she consented”. That old chestnut, which allows so many despicable practices to flourish, while those who might be expected to be tasked with thinking about them shrug and are relieved of the intellectual burden of doing so.
And is it true consent if it is bought? Is it true consent if she doesn’t understand she is the mother, even when her own egg is not used? It certainly can’t be construed as consent in cases where the woman is coerced, pressured by family, or, as in one case we saw, offered up for surrogacy by her own husband, without her prior knowledge.
It is extraordinary to consider, that in this time of hyper awareness of social injustice, when every perceived slight or misdemeanour can be considered a cancel-worthy offence, that so many think nothing of the process of commissioning a baby to order: anonymous eggs harvested from a twenty-something woman and chosen from a catalogue, surrogate mothers matched with strangers by agencies, and ditched when they have one too many miscarriages. That so many think so little of women and children says so much about our society. None of it good.

Now a Harry media blackout now in UK
Truth or conspiracy? ·

Posted by
Benjamin Smallbrook3h
A better understanding?
Maybe people will understand a bit more, after what happened in Britain this afternoon?
This morning, every TV channel was giving wall-to-wall coverage to Harry and his book, ‘Spare’. Ex-Royal Marines were interviewed, along with generals and top-brass from the military. A former butler from the Palace was brought in to talk about Harry. Of course the ‘royal writers’ were on air too.
When the 5.00 pm news arrived, there was a news blackout where Harry was concerned. No mention of him, no mention of his book and nothing about the 25 Taliban he claimed to have killed.
Just like we can hear nothing about Markle’s surrogacies in the news, once again, somebody has stepped in to put a stop to free speech. But this is much more serious.
GCHQ, our security services, quickly realised that Harry had single-handedly raised the UK’s security risk levels. They would have contacted the government, and all hell would have been let loose. Hence, Harry, his book, and his brave exploits in the marines could not be covered on any TV channel.
The BBC News at 7.00 pm blanked him completely… News items in order : (1) US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy - (2) The NHS in the UK - (3) the Iran anti-government protests - (4) Rail strike - (5) A shooting in Virginia, US - (6) Train crash in Mexico - (7) China, re-opening borders - (8) Police looking for missing couple in England - (9) Ukraine news - (10) Car theft in the UK - (11) The weather. NO MENTION OF HARRY!
We have a ‘Village Idiot’ in our Royal Family. The fool, who thought he was being clever, has put lives at risk.
Thank you! ❤️

I need a Xiao Zhan stay at home dad AU fic so bad right now.
Like imagine a few years down the line xz just quietly slips away from the entertainment industry and he and yibo hire a surrogate (who they pay handsomely and are very nice to!!!) and they start trying to have a baby🥺
Like imagine them going through the surrogacy process and trying to make sure potential surrogates aren’t bxgs or solos 😭
Imagine them taking their baby home to Chongqing and Xiao Zhan’s mama is just crying tears of joy and Jianguo has her tail up and very daintily sniffs the baby🥺
And Xiao Zhan is a stay at home dad, still doing his artsy stuff on the side but taking a long break from the entertainment industry while Wang Yibo is still one of the top stars in China and ugh. They’re such a power couple.
They no longer give a single shit about what the public thinks and just start living as an out couple and family and Yibo is so cute with him and the baby. Teaching his kid to bike and skateboard from way too early an age and rubbing it in to Xiao Zhan about how his kid can ride a bike but he still can’t 😭
And oh god they’re so cheesy they would totally have matching outfits for the whole family. Baby vlone shirt. Supreme diapers.... yibo gets a super aerodynamic state of the art stroller and gets it signed by Rossi.
Imagine xz pinching yibo’s chubby cheeks and then then their baby’s chubby cheeks and saying ‘I see no difference here’ and yibo swatting his hand away.
Once their kid gets into school Xiao Zhan starts planning his comeback and writes a play. It ends up as a small production written, acted a designed by him. There are some deeply embedded wwx and lwj refernces in the script and set design. On opening night some of the most artsy people in theater and film are there and Yibo’s in the front row crying tears of joy next to their bored kid who’s playing with a techdeck. It’s a critical and financial success. A lottery system has to be set up to try to avoid a waiting list.
Yibo LOVES being the embarrassing dad. Im thinking World’s Greatest Dad t shirt (but cool). He loves letting everyone and especially his kid know how loved and supported he is. Hearing ‘dadddd you’re embarrassing me’ is the sweetest sound he’s ever heard.
Omg they finally go on that skii trip together but they take the whole family and kiddo’s grandparents are just spoiling him rotten the whole time. Yibo approves and Xiao Zhan tries to be the harsh parent but he’s too much of a softie and just lets kiddo get spoiled rotten, at least on their family vacation.
Xiao Zhan and his mom teaching their kiddo the family recipes 🥺
Yibo back seat driving in the kitchen telling them to make it spicier. Xiao Zhan asking him what he’s trying to prove here.
They’re both perfect sons in law and their mothers in law adore them.
Inspired by
Interviews I can’t find at the moment:
the one where Xiao Zhan talks about being a traditional man and wanting a family (I think that’s in one of his Ma Weiwei interviews *shakes fist at mww*)
the one where Xiao Zhan is asked where he sees himself in 12 years and he says he sees himself living as a normal person with one dog and one cat
DDU episode where Yibo says that in the future he sees himself having more free time and having a kid and a dog. Han ge reminds Yibo that he’s in his 40’s now and he has even less free time. Feng ge replies saying something like wow a woman a kid and a dog huh? And Da laoshi reminds him that Yibo didn’t mention a woman.
If I can find links for those I’ll add them later
And this article about wealthy Chinese gay men seeking children through overseas surrogacy

Also, what are your feelings about Jair Bolsonaro? It seems like every Brazilian I speak to either loves or hates him, like there is no middle position. What little I know about your country and what little I know about him, he seems like a good man with some good ideas.
You’d be surprised to know I feel all over the place about him. Let me explain why to a foreigner who doesn’t know much about him.
Much of what the MSM (specially the international one) reports about him, is exaggeration. Yes, he is more right-winged than Donald Trump (by his own admission), but Nazis aren’t marching on the streets, “minorities” aren’t being targeted and stuff like that.  Even then he is also right about a couple of things like:
Pointing out that the Atlantic slave trade was largely provided by Africans enslaving their defeated enemies and selling them to the Westerners, and the notion of “historical debt” is pointless.
Some of his policies are good like promoting gun rights and establishing the death penalty for severe criminals.
I also like the idea of an Christian nationalist president who is committed to defend the boundaries of Christendom and Western culture in Brazil, the second most Christian country in the world after the USA of course.
Pointing out the migrant crisis in Europe was an catastrophe which is one of the reasons why some Brazilians I know voted for him - even though that is a largely baseless fear since Brazil doesn’t have a program for sustaining invaders or promising benefits to them like the USA or Europe.
With all that said… He had done some truly embarrassing and indefensible things:
He stated that in a political speech he had five kids with the first four being men, but had a daughter in the end because he got a “little weak”. He also said he wouldn’t rape a female politician critical of him because “she is too ugly”. These are things he said out in the open and relatively recently mind you.
He defends the military dictatorship period of the 60-80s as an golden era in our history rather than the blot it was. It’s very hypocritical for him to do this considering that his promises of arming the populace and being comitted to freedom of speech ran contrary to what happened back then (where people were disarmed and free speech was repressed).
In spite of being nominally a Catholic Christian, he suggested surrogacy for LGBT couples despite surrogacy being a no no. His own positions on LGBT people also don’t help us - him being right or wrong about them is not the point, the point is that it gives plenty of ammo to his critics, so it was better off if he kept his mouth shut.
I also have concerns about how he will handle gun distribution, I am all for Brazilian honest, hard-working citizens feeling safe, but I hope this doesn’t backfire somehow. We gonna have to see how this pans out though.
But in the end though… I think this speaks more about the Brazilian left than anything else because they have been in power for more than 15 years and during this time, they have been involved in scandals, corruptions, taxes were increased, crime is rampant in Brazil (I am not exaggerating when I say there is not a single Brazilian who hasn’t been mugged or victim of violence - myself included), hospitals and schools have been abandoned and stuff like that. The Brazilian left doesn’t give a shit about the people, they only cared about being in control and lining up their pockets.
This is why he won the election… And the fact he won despite saying things that would have killed any normal politician’s career makes the left’s defeat all more embarrassing. His biggest rival Lula was barred from running due to being involved in corruption, his replacement Fernando Haddad being formerly the mayor of a city he left in a mess and not being so clean himself. Also Haddad was such a boring ass politician in his own right that he would have lost in any normal election because his platform boiled down to “AT LEAST I AM NOT BOLSONARO”. And now the left is in complete shambles and doesn’t know what to do.
The foreign liberals freak out out about him because they didn’t expect such a populist emerging from a place they largely ignore and they don’t know how to deal with him. They are seeing these national populists emerging from the wood works, heralding a worldwide turn to the right-wing that now Western liberals are willing to prop up a communist shithole like Venezuela (and unintentionally siding with dictatorships like Russia, Turkey, Iran and China) rather than allow yet another nationalist like Juan Guado take place.
So in short, he wouldn’t be my first candidate of choice. There are some things I like about him in theory, but not so much in action, but he is the best option we have in the world scenario. I know foreigners love him as the “Brazilian Trump”, but really thoughI’d have an easier time supporting and defending Trump than Bolsonaro.

All forms of having children have problems—not just surrogacy. You have a foster system that will push kids into poverty and on the streets. Adoption agencies will exploit children and you will have rich people adopting children in Africa or China to be exotic. I think to paint gay men within surrogacy as the villains is not only homophobic, but lacks the depth and nuance that the topic of wanting a child should bring. I mean, would it’s a complicated subject. You have a lot of surrogate mothers in the United States who do it out of love or because they want to help other people. You also might have people who are poverty stricken and might feel the need to. Those two things can exist at the same time, just like you have couples who adopt babies because they want to have children but also have couples who will seek out babies in forgien countries to seem exotic. Lesbians can also use surragate mothers. In don’t think it is fair to say, as whole, surrogacy is bad because you can use that same logic for IVF, adoption, etc. there are people who abuse the system in every single option. Adoption having the MOST exploitation, but adoption as a whole isn’t bad. I hope this makes sense cause I don’t think it’s fair to paint an option for having kids for families who might not be able to on their own is inherently an immoral decision. Like all decisions, context matters and I want to give most people who choose any of those options the benifit of the doubt unless it is an obvious exploitation.
i totally agree. it's a topic that should be discussed and clearly surrogacy can be absurd in some instances, but personally i think saying it shouldn't be allowed period is taking it too far.
