The Monaco wedding….

Did you watch the Amber Heard/ Johnny Depp trial when she was interoggated about pledging vs donating? 

Until that moment, i had no interest in the trial and was barely aware that it was happening.

Then that interrogation happened and it went viral….I.WAS.HOOKED. didn’t miss another moment after that. 

That’s how the Monaco wedding was for me. 

There are too many moments of disaster in the days before, during and after of that wedding, BUT you have to hand it to Monaco PR. 

They swang into action in the following weeks, threatened to sue anyone who reported any of those details, infact successfully sued The Times of London. 

All videos and articles about the disastrous wedding week were pulled down and only very few happy/ neutral pictures from the actual day remain. Even the infamous video of the bride weeping bitter tears to the visible irritation and annoyance of Albert was pulled down.

Withthe media sufficiently cowed and scrubbed, Monaco pumped an alternative narrative of the wedding week, but of course didn’t supply the necessary pictures because they had none to share. They went as far as saying her tears in the wedding were of joy and feeling overwhelmed by the joy of the moment…lol. Not if you’d watched it live.

The couple gave an interview to a french channel to refute the real picture, but the bride didn’t speak french and didn’t smile once. 

It’s one of those things like the pledge/ donate Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp trial that i’ll never forget.

Did I watch the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial? Anon, I lived the Depp-Heard trial. I’ve had jury duty in that very courthouse. Friends went to the courthouse to try and get in (they didn’t). It’s 20 minutes up the road. There was wall-to-wall coverage here because it was international news, national news, and local news. It was the only thing on TV to watch and I watched every single second of it, and all the legal commentary, and all the social media commentary.

Some background:

Johnny was suing Amber over an editorial she wrote for, and published in, the Washington Post. The Post’s printing press and its servers are located in Fairfax, Virginia, which allowed Johnny’s team to file the lawsuit in Virginia, despite him and Amber both never having lived here, claiming that Fairfax VA had jurisdiction because that’s where her defamation claims were published.

The pledge/donate controversy was Amber claiming that a pledge is the same thing as a donation. It’s not. A pledge is a promise to donate money. A donation is the actual giving of money. Amber claimed that she “donated” the $7 million divorce settlement she received from Johnny but it turns out, she had only pledged to donate. She hadn’t actually fulfilled the obligation.

The pledge/donate fiasco is important because it exposed a) Amber for lying about her financial status and b) an important distinctions celebrities make when they PR their philanthropy. If you look at a lot of stories about celebs who donate huge multimillion dollar sums, a lot of those stories talk about “pledging.” As in, the celeb has made a verbal promise to donate money.

Like The Rock/Oprah Maui fire fundraiser. They didn’t outrightly donate to survivors and recovery. They pledged $5 million each, contingent on enough people donating to their fundraiser. They didn’t actually donate their money. At least, not until everyone got angry and called them out about it.

It is semantics. You don’t have to fulfill a pledge. It’s nice if you do, but at the end of the day, it’s rarely a legally-binding contract so a lot of celebs get their PR from using these semantics. They promise to donate money if X condition occurs so they look good to the public but they sometimes don’t actually follow through with it.

To bring it back to the royals, look and watch carefully the vocabulary that the Sussexes use to describe their philanthropy and humanitarian work. Are they using pledge to describe their work? Or are they using donate, or other action-based words?

And anyway, just to sum all this up with anon’s original post about Monaco: I am fully expecting the BRF to give the Sussexes the Monaco treatment if there’s ever a divorce. All the footage will be scrubbed. All the articles will be sanitized, if not scrubbed outright.

 Je vais vous faire sourire. Peut-être même allez vous avoir un peu pitié de moi : pour ma plus grande honte, je suis obligé de reconnaître que j'ai lu ''Spare'', le Suppléant, le seul et dernier livre ''so far'' co-écrit par ‘’THE’’ ménage glamour du moment, ''les Sussex'' (ce n'est pas là que vous devez rire, c'était avant : chacun est libre de faire ce qu'il veut, dès la porte fermée), c'est-à-dire le benêt poil-de-carotte royal et son égérie roturière nettement plus bronzée. Si j'osais, je dirais ''Le rouge et la noire''... mais Stendhal n'aimerait sans doute pas !). Enfin... quand je dis ''j'ai lu'', c'est plutôt en diagonale, le parti-pris de l'éditeur de faire appel à toutes les ficelles du métier étant évident à en devenir gênant. On frise ‘’le Petit Chose’’ !

Si j'ai bien compris le scénario, le couple Sussex a dû faire face à la dure obligation d'assumer à la fois, pour lui, le rôle du vilain petit canard qui n'héritera que d'une fraction des titres, domaines, châteaux, palais, avantages en nature, nombre de décorations tintinabulantes, et reconnaissance internationale qui seront réservés à son frère aîné, lequel sera, en plus –et c'est assez rare pour qu’on le signale-- ''The King'' (que même God saves), et l'empereur d'un Commonwealth qui, même en plein rétrécissement, reste tout de même impressionnant... Et pour elle, le second rôle de l'américaine déjà divorcée –ce qui est mal vu à Buckingham, depuis Wallis Simpson-- que tout sépare de la culture des ''Royals'', de l'étiquette à la soumission à des règles omniprésentes... La pauvrette, mal préparée à n'être qu'un clone de sa belle-sœur plus chanceuse et --disent les tabloïds-- cordialement détestée, en a développé un syndrome fait d'amertume, de victimisation et d'incompréhension –actives ou ressenties, réelles ou imaginées... mais très généreusement exprimées.

Il ne fait aucun doute, pour qui que ce soit, je pense, qu'une famille ‘’royale’’ est effectivement une famille, mais pas exactement comme toutes les autres, ce qui ne va pas sans entraîner quelques inconvénients, parfois lourds à porter... si on ne trouve pas dans ce rôle assez de contreparties pour que la balance penche du bon côté. Or rien, dans le fait d'appartenir à une famille royale ne peut vous rapprocher de quelque ''norme'' que ce soit. Pensez seulement que si notre régime républicain se définit (lui-même) comme ''la rencontre d'un homme avec un peuple'', la royauté serait plutôt la rencontre de toutes les familles du royaume avec celle qui les réunit, les représente depuis des temps immémoriaux et, idéalement, les représentera encore dans les siècles à venir. Et ça peut être assez long, ''la suite des siècles'' !

Après avoir parcouru ces pages, je pense que tout le monde devrait comprendre et partager le véritable enfer que vivent Harry et Meghan. Personne ne peut réaliser à quel point ce doit être dur pour elle d'être multi-millionnaire sans y être pour rien, et de devoir vivre dans un ''gourbi'' de 3 ou 4000 m² (ce qui, pire encore si possible, est dix-et-quelque fois plus, en square feet), relégué dans Montecito, le quartier le plus friqué de Santa Barbara, ville la plus friquée des Etats-Unis (ce qui doit être assez proche de ''la plus friquée au monde'') d'où elle doit parcourir le monde entier en jet privé, de palace en palace.  Sans compter les lourdes contraintes auxquelles vont les obliger les épuisantes séances de signatures et de dédicaces aux quatre coins du globe... La vie est dure, aux vrais riches, et personne ne veut le voir...

Les petites gens ne peuvent pas avoir la plus petite idée de comme ça doit être pénible, pour elle, cette chute dramatique d'un niveau de vie qui n'était déjà qu'une fraction de celui de son beau-frère –qui avait, on vient de le découvrir, commis le crime de ''lèse-presque majesté'' de se disputer avec son frère –ce qui, c'est bien connu, n'est jamais arrivé au sein d'aucune famille, royale ou pas... Le commun des mortels est absorbé par son besoin incompréhensible de survivre et de nourrir ses enfants, surtout en période de crise et d'inflation galopante (On se demande bien pourquoi ! S'ils n'ont plus d'argent dans le porte-monnaie, ils n'ont qu'à régler leurs dépenses avec leur carte ''Gold'' ou ''Privilège'' !),... Ces gens-là, dans la plupart des pays dont le leur (et le nôtre... mais ceci est une autre histoire !), ne pensent qu'à faire grève, égoïstement, au lieu de se demander ce qu'ils pourraient faire pour stopper les injustices contre les Sussex et la discrimination contre elle...

Le commun des mortels n'arrivera pas (on peut le regretter et le déplorer, mais c'est un fait) à voir comme la vie est dure pour la pauvre Meghan, depuis qu'elle s'est sacrifiée en acceptant d'épouser Harry. Par exemple, ce charmant petit couple a toujours --même avant leur rencontre, chacun de son côté, mais bien plus encore, depuis, ce livre en est la preuve !-- lutté pour préserver son intimité (NB : Avec un nom comme ça, on les comprend !). Ils avaient enfin trouvé un moyen efficace pour la protéger, cette intimité : cela consistait à faire filmer un documentaire de 6 fois une heure sur chaque seconde de leur existence, juste assez pour montrer au bas peuple à quel point ils étaient prêts à tout pour qu'on ne sache rien de leur vie... Et si les caméras n'avaient pas ''shooté'' ces moments où Meghan pleure, personne n'aurait jamais su à quel point elle était malheureuse. Mais voilà : le secret a ''fuité'' par la faute de ces maudits paparazzi (NB. en anglais : ''paparazzo''''. Et en italien aussi, par hasard). Seule, la présence des photographes à chaque crise de larmes a permis au monde entier de savoir la profondeur et le nombre exact de ces crises de désespoir.. et c'est pour cela qu'ils veulent tellement la protéger, cette intimité ! On a de la chance que les caméras aient été là, pour savoir enfin la terrible vérité !

Après la lecture de ces pages si bouleversantes pour qui en est bouleversé, on se rend compte que même Harry et Meghan ont du mal à réaliser à quel point c'est difficile d'être Meghan et Harry ! Et spécialement pour elle, qui se plaint avec des tas de bonnes raisons de n'être qu'une pauvre jeune femme de couleur, punie par un sort injuste de n'avoir même pas assez de pouvoir pour foutre à terre une des puissances historiquement les plus stables qui aient jamais existé, la Couronne d'Angleterre, et spécialement ce sale type de Charles III dont la totalité des tabloïds prétendent qu'il ne serait même pas le vrai père de son ex-royal mari... alors que ''the Royals'' ont été tellement racistes que, après qu'ils l'aient accueillie au Palais de Buckingham comme on n'y accueille pas un Peter Townsend, c'est elle qui a dû les rejeter, un pour tous tous pour un sauf la Reine, à leur immense surprise...

Comment voudriez-vous que ces deux attendrissants tourtereaux arrivent à se construire un avenir digne de leurs ambitions illimitées dans un monde qui leur est tellement hostile qu'à peine 2 millions de leur bouquin (@26,42 US $ each) se sont vendus en 3 jours aux USA, et que le tirage en français –bientôt épuisé, comme moi après l'avoir lu-- n'ait été que de 210 000 + 130 000, tous et chacun à 35,50 € (l'un) ? Vous imaginez-vous les voyages et l'épuisement consécutif aux signatures que cela annonce ? Et les soucis, pour dépenser tout ça ? Et dire que très peu de gens vont voir les larmes que Meghan va devoir ne montrer que de dos (ou de 3/4, son ''meilleur'' côté) aux cameramen convoqués –pour éviter que, débarquant au mauvais moment, ils ne percent l'intimité de notre petit couple si émouvant. Dans le brouhaha de nos vies, on frôle parfois de vrais drames sans s'en rendre compte

Lorsque nous étions encore au Club nous avons appris avec stupéfaction que la seule vraie émission culturelle de la télé diffusée sur une chaîne publique, « Passage des Arts », animée par Claire Chazal, allait être supprimée. Un vrai scandale. Une pétition, signée par beaucoup d’artistes, circule d’ailleurs en ce moment pour qu’elle soit maintenue et le SNJ (Syndicat National des Journalistes) projette une action plus frontale.

LE PIFOMÈTRE DE FRANCE TÉLÉ

(Au gré des humeurs de Delphine Ernotte)

C’est une brutale. Quand elle vire, c’est direct. On dirait Bernard Blier dans un film de Jean Yanne. Demandez à Catherine Ceylac, Julien Lepers, Patrick Sébastien et tant d’autres. Cette fois, c’est Claire Chazal et son « Passage des Arts » qui passent à la trappe. Pourquoi ? Elle a cessé de plaire à la présidente Ernotte, voilà tout ; qu’on la jette aux crocodiles. Or, son émission, produite en interne, était excellente : Chazal y recevait, avec une rare ouverture d’esprit, artistes émergents et vedettes à qui elle laissait du temps pour s’exprimer. Ça durait depuis trois ans, ça marchait, la formule n’était pas usée.

Mais il s’agit de faire plaisir à un jeune talent, Pierre Lescure (77 ans), pour qu’il puisse présenter une émission sur le cinéma, produite par Mediawan dont il fut à sa création, en 2015, président du conseil de surveillance. Donc, pour laisser la place à ce balbutiant tendron, on vire sans autre explication une animatrice confirmée qu’on envoie par ailleurs au casse-pipe présenter « Le Grand Échiquier » qui, mal produit par le même Mediawan, ne marche toujours pas et ne marchera jamais. Une pétition est en cours, le monde de la culture se rebelle, mais qu’a donc à voir Mme Ernotte avec la culture ? Au vu de ses programmes, elle s’en fiche. Elle serait d’ailleurs capable, après l’incroyable « Diane de Poitiers », de commander à Josée Dayan une minisérie sur les malheurs des Sussex, avec Isabelle Adjani (Meghan) et Stéphane Bern (Harry).

Not Guilty, Sentenced To Life: Terrance Richardson Granted Evidentiary Hearing By Va. Supreme Court To Prove Innocence

Terrance Richardson has been serving a life sentence for the 1998 murder of a Sussex County Police officer — despite his being acquitted.

After nearly three decades of legal struggles since his incarceration, the Virginia Supreme Court has ordered an evidentiary hearing to allow Richardson to prove his innocence.

Richardson has attempted to appeal his conviction several times over the past three years. His most recent attempt to have the Court of Appeals hear his case was rejected in 2022.

Richardson has already served over twenty years of his life sentence after he was convicted of intent to distribute crack cocaine — a charge which does not normally carry a life sentence.

In a move questioned by many, federal prosecutors handed down the life sentence after tacking on charges related to the murder of Sussex County Police officer Allen Gibson — which Richardson and another man, Ferrone Claiborne, had already been acquitted of in a state court due to a lack of evidence. Richardson and Claiborne were dubbed the “Waverly Two” after the case.

The daughter of the police officer whose murder Richardson and Claiborne were once accused of, is one of the people who believe Richardson should have a chance to prove his innocence. -(source: 8news)

Red Onion Hunger Strike Phone Zap

The saga at Red Onion continues, with more than 30 participants. Participants are asking supporters to call the Governor and the Virginia Department of Corrections to demand that the Red Onion follows state restrictions on solitary confinement. Kevin "Rashid" Johnson is additionally requesting his treatment for congestive heart failure and prostate cancer that he be moved from Red Onion to a facility like Sussex I or Buckingham that are near to large medical facilities.

Termine usato per indicare i colori dell’autunno. Nel parlato italiano si ricorre ad inutili anglicismi come il perverso foliage, magari pronunciato come il feuillage francese perché il color vinaccia della macchia di Provenza è più chic dei pallidi fogliami cedui del Sussex.

La lingua finlandese, invece, può contare su una parola più solida e originale, ruska, esotica quanto basta (deriva dal sami settentrionale ruške) e potentemente evocativa di una gamma cromatica che va dai viola pungenti delle eriche ai rossi furiosi dell’Acer platanoides fino al gialli abbaglianti della Betula pubescens. La discussa parentela con lo sfumato aggettivo finlandese ruskea, “marrone” ma anche, nei dialetti, “rosso fuoco” (il careliano rusko indica il rossore acceso del tramonto) dimostra tuttavia quanto, tra lunghezza d’onda, percezione della tonalità e lessico cromatico, regni un’arlecchinesca confusione.

Una ruska pronunciata al telegiornale funziona come segnale convenuto per gli appassionati di fotografia (Franco Figàri, uno fra tutti!) che, a ogni fine estate, attendono impazienti di dare il via al ruskaretki, il viaggio a caccia dei colori più psichedelici che la natura possa offrire. Invictus Games Features Meghan Markle (not with Harry) Narrating & in Featured Footage in Invictus Webinar Video For all of us sinners who were foolish enough to believe that the Invictus Games were doing the right thing by trying to limit Markle’s take-over of the Invictus Games’ spotlight, I guess we’ll have to think again. I didn’t attend the webinar so I don’t know if this is just a clip of a longer video, or if this is the video in its entirety. It features Markle narrating the entire video with clips of her visiting with veterans & their families inside of a SoCal Fisher House. Fisher House was one of the bigger sponsors of the Dusseldorf Invictus Games. They provide free housing for the families of veterans while the veteran is in the local VA hospital. It’s a highly worthy cause. The party with the open bar that Meghan crashed in her unbuttoned Banana Republic navy dress to give the rambling “milkshakes for little ones” speech that made no sense, (like international flights wait on the tarmac until school runs are finished after their toddlers drink milkshakes for breakfast) was sponsored entirely by Fisher House. Meghan has been attending Invictus Games since 2017, yet neither she nor Harry have ever gone to a Fisher House. So Meghan conveniently visited one a week or two before Dusseldorf just so she could film this video, not because visiting with veterans is something she cares about. Before any sinners wonder if a Fisher House was simply too far away for the Sussexes to visit, know that the one Markle went to is located between Wilshere Blvd and Santa Monica Blvd and it is:- 5 miles from the San Vicente Bungalows, Beverly Hills on Santa Monica Blvd where H reportedly stays - 5 miles from SoHo House on Sunset Blvd, Beverly Hills where H&M have both reportedly stayed - 5 miles from M’s financial adviser Andrew Meyer on Wilshere Blvd, Beverly Hills, the most consistently important man in M’s life- 4 miles from Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Blvd where M reportedly stays as well as her political adviser Gordon Getty- 3 miles from WME on Wilshere Blvd, Beverly HillsThe quickest route from Montecito to those 4 locations is taking the 101 to the 405 to the 10. This means that the duo literally drive specifically past the Fisher House for veterans and the VA hospital every single time they go to one of their favorite Beverly Hills locations. Every single time! Yet not one single time have they bothered to visit or bring some of that famous In-N-Out to these poor families.
