1964 CHEVROLET CORVAIR
Ian Johnson and his '64 Chev Corvair at our the Rolling 30 event at Sydney Motorsport Park
He spotted on the internet and grabbed it. Ian has owned this car for a little over three years and has spent that whole time trying the keep it cool, being a rear-engine car that is quite a challenge.
Ian did his apprenticeship at Volkswagen and worked for Porsche in London, so he has a little experience with rear-mounted, air-cooled flat boxer engines and does most of the mechanical work on this car himself.

Ninth place not acceptable for AlphaTauri Marko | RaceFans Round-up
In the round-up: Red Bull motorsport consultant Helmut Marko says the team’s junior squad did not perform well enough this year. In brief AlphaTauri must raise their game, says Marko AlphaTauri sank to ninth in the championship this year, its worst result since 2018 when it competed as Toro Rosso. Marko said the team were “beaten below their value” in an interview with Auto Motor und Sport. “The car had too little downforce” – Marko “For the potential, technically and financially, ninth place is not acceptable,” said Marko. “They made a lot of mistakes in strategy. The car had too little downforce. At the moment we are in the process of taking stock and looking at which screws we have to turn.” Oliver Mintzlaff, who has taken charge of Red Bull’s sports division following the death of Dietrich Mateschitz in October, sees the need for improvement at the team, said Marko. “Initial talks have been held with our new boss, Mr Mintzlaff, and everyone agrees that it wouldn’t make sense to rebuild a successful package like Red Bull Racing. “Where there is a need, there is AlphaTauri. This was not satisfactory in the past year.” Kaylen Frederick moves teams for third FIA F3 season Kaylen Frederick will drive for ART Grand Prix in FIA Formula 3 next year, his third season in the championship. The 20-year-old raced for Carlin in his rookie season in 2021, but had his campaign curtailed by injury and COVID-19. For this year he joined Hitech GP, and with a full campaign was able to score points seven times to come 17th in the standings. Previously the American was a frontrunner in USF2000 in his home country, and won the BRDC British F3 championship in its last year before being renamed renamed GB3. Australia launches new open-wheel series Australia already has S5000, Formula 3 and Formula Ford but another national single-seater series will start next year with the arrival of Australian Formula Open (AFO). Formula Open already existed as a state championship in Victoria, then relaunched as AFO last month with a one-off event at Phillip Island featuring old F3 cars formerly driven by Valtteri Bottas and Romain Grosjean as well as previous-generation Toyota Racing Series and F4 cars. AFO will have six rounds in 2023, racing at Winton Motor Raceway, Sydney Motorsport Park, The Bend Motorsport Park, Queensland Raceway, Sandown and Phillip Island. The series is being fronted by three-time Australian F3 champion Tim Macrow. Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free Happy birthday! Happy birthday to Dan M, Huhhii and Tony Hamilton! Three huge young talents in the one shot here and if a few cards fall their way this triumvirate are on course to reach for the sky in motorcycle racing around the world. Left of picture holding the phone we have 16-year-old Tom Drane. Tom was not riding at SMP this week and leaves for America on Tuesday to take up a ride with Estonson Racing for the 2023 American Flat Track season. This is a championship that he starred in during some appearances last year and while he has done a fair bit of racing on the tarmac he potentially has what could be a lucrative career ahead of him in the AFT ranks. It will be interesting to watch his career develop from here and see which way it takes him…. In the middle we have 16-year-old Harrison Voight. Harry scored a podium in the German round of the 2022 Red Bull Rookies Cup and will this year have a crack at the 2023 FIM Moto2 European Championship. He dominated the final round of the 2022 Australian Supersport Championship at The Bend and did the same here again this week at the two-day ASBK Test at Sydney Motorsport Park. Quietly determined and motivated Voight sees 2023 as his year to make a statement on the world scene. On the right with his back to the camera is young Cam Dunker. Cam won both the Australian Supersport Championship and YMF R3 Cup in 2022 and this year steps up to 600 Supersport. He is already showing good pace and it is fair to say that this 15-year-old is also going places. 📸 @rbmotolens (at Sydney Motorsport Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoJPhEDy-op/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

As the excitement builds for WTAC how about we show you how Subaru’s like to party.
The Subaru’s were back for the 2018 SubiNats and this time around it was Sydney Motorsport Park that had a case of the boxer rumbles.
SubiNats never fails at providing an excellent event. The two day schedule was packed with various classes of Super Sprint time attacks, skid pan shoot out, Motorkhana, Show ‘n’ Shine and a little something on the Figure 8 track. Oh and the whole event is free for spectators!
Professional rally driver, Molly Taylor whipped around the Figure 8 track with a few lucky co drivers in Subaru’s brand new BRZ and WRX STI spec.R models.
There was no shortage of Super Sprints with sessions running all day from all classes.
Meanwhile on the other side of Subaru’s skillset, the skidpan was getting a workout.
Here is 14 year old Lachlan ripping around the cones like a pro.
The Willall Racing 25BB was able to turn it up this year with more fine tuning ticked off the list.
Where ever we turned there was something different to see from a early FF-1 to the late rally legend, Possum Bourne’s 2002 bug eye.
MCA were out on track with their VR38DETT powered 86 borrowing a part or two from the famous MCA S13 Hammerhead.
A Show ‘n’ Shine can sometimes be an excuse to put your daily on display but in all honesty there was nothing but quality built Subies there. You could really see the passion owners had for their Subies.
